Place used to be the best gym for the price in the Punta Gorda/Port Charlotte area.

Recently they swapped out all the Old Hammer Strength machines for new updated Matrix machines. Im an experienced lifter as well as tall and let me tell you fitting in these machines are a damn chore. They obviously want everyone to be tiny because not only can you not fit in them but all the machines have lower weights on the stack. The range of motion on these new Matrix machines is kinda awkward if you are of large build. Wouldve rather seen them keep the legacy machines for the now "stretch" room which was the 30 min circuit or just remove some treadmills and keep them so that we have both the legacy and new modern machines in a gym that is almost always packed.

Now I will say the new barbell area with deadlifting platforms is a nice addition. Not many PF have deadlifting platforms. The location has a surplus of dumbells (even though I wish we could see some dumbells go up to 100) in both the cable area and the back. The Hip thrust machine, free weight bicep curl, and new free weight chest press machines are fine additions as well.

Been at this establishment for around 5 years now and maybe they aren't done with the renovation yet but its definitely leaves a mixed gym experience.

(Just open a gym in Punta Gorda by Jones Loop already and repurpose those machines there)

They don’t even deserve a star now but it doesn’t allow that option. They decided to change all the machines and now everything is different. You have to relearn the whole lay out and they’ve taken out so many necessary pieces of equipment that you’ll have to find a replacement if it was one you used! The yellow room is now a “stretching room” I hate that! Honestly why couldn’t you keep it back there or move it to the mirrored area and move that or something. I’d love to see the yellow room equities back in the yellow room where it actually belongs! It’s now all crammed in the front window and when I say crammed I mean not even a foot if that apart. Seems like they’re trying to make a lot of people cancel their memberships! Love the new machines don’t get me wrong with that just wish they didn’t change the whole layout!!! Very disappointed in your planet fitness!

I was drawn to planet fitness due to their 30 minute express workout circuit, I signed up because of that alone. I had no desire to wander through the entire gym machine to machine to get a good workout in. The express circuit was fast easy and fun, well tonight I come in and the express circuit is gone. I don't have much free time to come to the gym to begin with but it seems that being as they've taken my only reason for joining away, I don't know that I will be continuing to keep my membership. Not willing to pay for something I'm unhappy with and not going to utilize.

As of today I would happily give this place a -10 if I could. The new changes they just made seem to be focused on ousting the old generation in favor of the younger crowd.
When we first arrived at Planet Fitness on Peachland my husband and I were pleased to see so many of the older generation there working out. Some things the older generation now need to know as well as those who are thinking of joining for therapeutic reasons. If you can't lift at least 20 pounds their equipment is No Longer going to work for you. Also for those who enjoyed the 30 minute workout section, it's all gone! While at first I was pleased to see they added a few of the machines that were often most occupied I was equally upset to see they also removed many that were so useful, especially to someone like me who deals with arthritis. My hope was they had moved some of the equipment to the back section, but when I went to look I found they had not. However they removed two of the machines for hip strengthening and now there's a line waiting to use the two they left!
So if you are of the older generation and/or unable to lift 20 pounds, if you are someone who only has x amount of time to get your workout in, or if you're someone who is working out for therapeutic reasons such as strengthening the shoulder or knee you just had replaced, or trying to stay fit while you deal with arthritis...sadly I would recommend you look elsewhere now.

this place used to be so good!! then they renovated, took out or cut down on the most popular machines, and made unnecessary and ridiculous changes that nobody wanted. Never before this renovation did i see a line of people waiting on a machine that there used to be 4 of!! of course nobody wants to wait in a line at the gym, so most abandoned the queue. truly a masterclass in how to kill your business!!

Planet Fitness is a good gym option, especially because it has locations all over the country, which is very convenient for people who travel or move between cities. It offers a good variety of equipment and workout options. However, there are a few areas that could be improved. Sometimes, certain machines are out of service due to technical issues and are not repaired promptly. Also, the training staff is hard to find—I personally have never received assistance from them. Friendly staff and manager recognize and greet the 'regulars' making Planet Fitness a place that is comfortable and comforting. Kudos to Manager Anthony and staff for wanting to make it a top notch facility! PF is really a 'no judgement zone' where everyone has a common goal. This gym is pretty good. I think the girl at the customer service desk is great at her job. Katie is nice and answered all my questions. She is patient and has a great attitude. I’ve been to a lot of planet Fitnesses across the country and this one is by far the worst one. Whats really sad about this is we’re moving to North Port and this will be the one we go to. The place was so nasty dirty, bathrooms looked like they haven’t been cleaned in forever, the equipment was dirty and they didn’t even have the AC running which was disgustingly horribly humid inside. I sure hope the next time I go there, it’s not the same. By the looks of the reviews on cleanliness it will not change. But only one could hope!!!!! Please be better the next time please. Sorry for the bad review but just being honest. If it is bad might have to change gyms which will suck because we have been members for a long time.

The gym itself is very nice however the staff is very rude. Most of the time you have to interrupt their gossiping and ask them if they can do their job to assist you with setting up the massage chairs or other amenities. The manager, Anthony, is really good at what he does. He stays on top of things. He keeps the gym in order. He knows how to keep good people around. If there's any issues, he knows how to handle it in a professional manner. He's a very calm and cool person. This man deserves a raise. He helped me around the gym and keeps everything clean. This gym needs an air purifier and a dehumidifier. The gym has such a strong musty smell to it that it makes it difficult to work out. The whole gym is this way and hits you right when you walk in making your eyes water. Planet fitness should do better about maintaining their locations only so much cleaning can be done. It smells like mold and should be addressed as it is an unsafe environment to work out in let alone work in

This is my second time trying to reach an owner or corporate representative for peachland gym port charlotte..My experience with this gym until Anthony as manager came the gym was fun however he cancelled my membership because I ask him not to call my personal cell phone he said I will cancelled it if you don't listen so what I have to say ..Now today I found out when I called corporate that he told them I had an argument in the 30 minute room when was the argument with who and there's cameras and for corporate to give me a case number never had a case cause y'all agreed with what he said without fact checking never yet had and argument in any Gym. I was told when I signed up it was month to month and I had no agreement. I changed states and PF at this location informed me I have to go to the location to cancel, or send a letter with my signature attached. (I cannot go in person and I have to take time off work to go to the post office.) Apparently canceling over the phone and providing all necessary information (name, member number, etc) is not sufficient. This is ridiculous and I contacted the BBB and corporate. This location predatory charges you and won't allow you to cancel, despite not even being able to actually use the service, despite stating you pay month to month.

Soooo Anthony (the professed owner of the Peachland Blvd PF) utterly ruined the interest in fitness that I was trying to instill in my son and two of his friends (all 14).

He accosted us as soon as we walked in the door at 1:00am and insisted on my membership (black card) details. Then read us the riot act about the kids NOT being officially being signed up for the youth summer program (despite the fact I had taken them with me before) AND they don't allow Crocs!!!

I asked for the name of his supervisor, but according to him he didn't have one. He owned the place.

There wasn't another soul in the place, and mine won't be there anymore either. Unless, like Anthony seemed to think, there are tons of folks cruising around at 1:00am in workout gear walking into gyms that they don't belong to, there is no need for this kind of hard line vetting of paying members.

I understand the need for guidelines. But I also understand that leeway is essential to attract the interest of the youth. My son and his friends aren't interested in going with me to the gym anymore, despite the summer program I touted to them, and we're all losers for that.

First time visiting a Planet Fitness in Florida (we live in northern Kentucky) and was pleasantly surprised at not only the facility size, location and cleanliness, but of the friendly and professional staff at work there. Triniti took my daughter, niece and myself on a tour of the cardio and resistance components of the facility and then thoroughly explained the benefits of both the Total Body Enhancement (red light) and massage features...how personable! She made us all feel like valued and welcomed guests. All in all, a completely positive experience! We'll be back every day of our vacation!!
