I started coming to this planet fitness over the summer and stayed because of how great this gym is! It’s very noticeable that the staff maintains and cleans the machines well. The staff at the front desk are always friendly, especially Santiago. Always a friendly guy to chat with when walking into the gym and keeping the gym tidy!

Lots of sushi rolls. Very fresh and good flavor. Located next to Publix in Lithia I usually put in an order and after 15 minutes shopping in Publix as we can always pick up a few things the sushi is ready. I like Publix sushi but these are more complex and packed with different flavors

This Planet Fitness location is very clean and well maintained. The staff does a good job keeping the equipment and locker rooms in great shape. It’s usually not too crowded, which makes it easy to get a full workout in without waiting for machines. It can get busy right after work hours, but that’s expected. Overall, it’s a solid gym with a comfortable environment.

I just got the membership here and everything has been going smooth. Everyone was so nice on all shifts. Except morning shift. Maria is not so nice. I asked her could she not take my lock off because I needed to get something from outside, she told me that nothing can stay overnight. I told her I understand, but its not overnight if I'm coming right back. She proceeded to say no, and that my lock would be removed. I was very upset to take my things out and have to bring them all the way back in because she's threatening to remove my lock. If you're African Amercan please read the reviews before signing up. All of us are treated wrong here. Looking over the reviews I noticed the pattern. Mike got mad because I left a review and tried to come for me personally. This is my update. Im no longer a member because of Mike and Maria.

This location can't seem to keep tanning beds operational. My work schedule makes it so that I can't always go at the same time everyday..which means I can't tan after since it's not 24 hrs since the last tan..so I skip days..now I can't get a bed because 2 of the 4 or should I say 3 of the 4 are down..just tried to tan..tan lotion on..naked..now the unit has an error and doesnt work! Close back on..back to the front desk..no available beds. Ugh!

I had a horrible experience at this Planet Fitness location. Maria and Mike were extremely unprofessional, rude, and made me feel completely unwelcome. Their behavior came across as discriminatory and harassing while I was simply trying to complete my workout. A gym should be a place where everyone feels safe and respected, but instead I was treated unfairly and targeted. This kind of conduct is unacceptable, and Planet Fitness should be ashamed to have staff who create such a hostile environment. I will not be returning and I would warn others—especially people of color—that this gym is not a welcoming place.

I want to preface this by saying my concerns are solely about the unprofessional attitude of the manager, Mike. I recently moved to the area and was exploring gyms to find the right fit. A friend recommended I try Planet Fitness. My initial visit was fine, but I wanted to experience a leg day before committing to a membership.

I approached the front desk politely to ask if I could purchase a day pass, knowing that you only receive one free day pass, but some gyms offer day passes for purchase. Mike responded with a dismissive look and said, “You only get one” in an unnecessarily rude tone. When I replied that I understood and thank you , he continued- again with attitude—by saying, “You have 24 hours. Wake up early.”. At that point I told him all I asked was a question, and he did not need to be rude. He just turned away and walked off.

I had every intention of purchasing a membership, but the way I was treated completely changed my decision. After reading other reviews, it seems my experience with Mike’s poor customer service is not unique, and unfortunately, nothing appears to have been done to address it.

Planet Fitness promotes itself as a welcoming, judgment-free environment, especially for new gym members. However, my interaction with this manager was the opposite—disrespectful, dismissive, and unwelcoming. Management attitudes like this drive away potential members and do not reflect the values the company claims to uphold.

The staff at this Planet Fitness location seem far more invested in whatever’s happening on their phones than in actually doing their jobs. I’m honestly at the point where scanning in feels optional—no one’s paying attention anyway.

When I asked someone for help renewing my membership, it was as if I’d interrupted a very important scroll session. The annoyance on his face made it clear that assisting a member was a major inconvenience.

Management? Same story—heads down, glued to their phones. And while no one is enforcing the (already ignored) policy of wiping down machines, they’re certainly not stepping up to clean them either.

Here’s a thought: maybe try putting the phones down and doing…literally anything related to gym operations.

After a year here, I'm still enjoying this gym. The crowds pick up around lunchtime, but there are still a lot of machines available to use. I like working out and then doing the Hydro messaging chairs to relax the muscles. Its still a bummer that they don't have a sauna.

Last night I went to to this gym and took a shower after my workout and someone stole my towel. I sent communication to the front desk thinking maybe the clean crew took it but I got no word. So I called the front desk while I was in the shower and the 1st time they hung up in my face (Zack who normally works at night told me I sounded like a robot. ) I called again and the 2nd front desk guy who refused to give me his name because he felt uncomfortable listed to what I was telling him and said okay but nothing happed. So eventually I put my clothes on wet. When I got to the front desk both of the associates were extremely rude the one who wouldn’t give me his name had dreads just in case you run into him. I was told by Zack and the dread head what did you want me to do and what was the problem with just coming out wet like a dog! Because it will be just like walking in the rain. When I asked for corporate contact info they gave me a card and was rude and said good luck with her email because the card didn’t have a phone number on it. If you are a women I wouldn’t feel comfortable going to the gym and showering with those two working there they have no sense of customer service

Just wanted to share a review on one of the best places with some of the nicest people in the world to work out at a gym. Mike the manager here is a fantastic manager and also personable when you see him and runs a great place that is super clean and always nice. The bathrooms and showers are always clean and never afraid to use them. He also has a fantastic staff who are super friendly and so helpful. You could not ask for a better place. The equipment is awesome especially the hydrorinse beds and deep tissue massage chairs that have really helped with my rehab and recovery from double knee surgery. Thanks again for everything Mike and your staff!!

Came in from NYC; My fiancé has a black card and in NYC selected guest has privileges for guest services. Andrea at the front desk insisted those privileges are not extended to the designated guest. I love planet fitness but found out they change the tanning bulbs as needed one or two at a time leaving room for good and bad bulbs and they always leave up the (new bulbs) sign. Change them all at once because they make enough money to do so even if they are expensive. That's why we pay a premium membership price. Other than that everyone is helpful and nice.

"I had a fantastic experience at Planet Fitness, and Hunter was a big part of that! During my first visit, he gave me a thorough tour, patiently answered all my questions, and was incredibly friendly. When I returned almost two months later to sign up, he remembered me and welcomed me with a big smile. The gym is always clean and quiet, and the members are respectful, which makes for a great atmosphere. My only suggestion is that the General Manager could use a bit of customer service training to better match the warm, welcoming vibe of the rest of the staff. Not near enough lifting equipment for the amout of people. Way to many treadmills, elliptical, and bikes that are not used. They need to be replaced with more smith machines and lifting equipment. Quit letting students lift for free all they do is set on machines on their phones. There is little to no gym etiquette and rules are not enforced.

Planet Fitness has an awful reputation as is with cancellations, this location is exceptionally worse. After finding out Planet Fitness has been charging me for years after I originally requested to cancel, I went in person to make sure the cancellation was actually processed. I also asked for invoices showing proof that I paid. The club manager absolutely refused to provide this and told me I could wait an hour or two at the front because he wasn’t going to print anything at my request. He also refused to email anything to me. He would not provide any email address for the franchise owner/group and was absolutely not helpful.

In contrast, my spouse recently cancelled with Crunch and they made that process so easy. They also provided the invoices for the entire year and even gave free guest passes for us to come back if we wished. Night and day difference, I know Crunch has built a new gym in the area, I’d check that out over this location.

Planet Fitness chooses to practice business without doing anything over the phone or email, not because of limitations but because they intentionally want to make doing business with them difficult in hopes you let them charge you $10/month in perpetuity. Stay away from Planet Fitness and the Tampa Gym Group. No customer focus, shady business practices, awful location.

Hello my name is Thomas and this location has helped lose over 50+ pounds since the start of the summer. When I first arrived I didn’t know what to do so a very nice employee helped me out gave me a tour and told me about the summer pass. Since then i’ve purchased the Black Card pass with the help of the GM Mr.Mike and Maria who helped through the process. I come everyday and no matter if they’re having a bad day they always greet you with a smile and even have conversations with you. My biggest gripe? It's 20 minutes from my home in Ruskin - a significant commute. Planet Fitness desperately needs to open a location in Ruskin!

Comparing this gym to other PF locations I've visited nationwide, this one falls short. Here's why:

- The equipment needs upgrading. The StairMaster machines often malfunction, and the elliptical machines don't allow backward striding (and time out if you try).
- Parking has become a nightmare since the adjacent supermarket opened, with no designated PF parking spots.

On the bright side:

- The gym is never crowded when I visit.
- The staff always greets me with a smile.

Until Planet Fitness opens a closer location in Ruskin or addresses these issues, I can only give two stars.

To Planet Fitness: Please consider expanding to Ruskin, FL! We need a convenient fitness option.

Horrible experience here. I suffered a really bad car accident and I almost lost my life. I was out of a job because my injuries and called them to inform them of my situation but they didn’t care and kept charging my card every month not informing me on freezing my account or anything. I was in a different state when it happened so they communicated I would need to send a letter to be able to cancel and after I did send a letter they said they didn’t receive it and kept charging my card monthly. One of the managers I talked to regarding my situation was rude and lacked compassion. Had I been treated with an ounce of decency and informed on freezing my account while I am injured I would most likely still be a customer here. But I will be perusing other fitness places elsewhere and not recommending this place

I am extremely disappointed with the behavior and professionalism of Myke, the manager at the gym. On multiple occasions, he has been incredibly rude not only to me but also to other members. His attitude is consistently negative, and his communication skills are severely lacking.

A few weeks ago, I attempted to enter the gym as a guest, but Myke refused to let me in just because my plan had expired. This was despite the fact that I was able to go to another location immediately afterward, where they had no issues letting me train. Myke's behavior is unacceptable and far from professional. Someone needs to address this situation, as it reflects very poorly on the gym’s management.

Mike the general manager is completely unhappy there . He is rude and it’s not courteous at all . He also wouldn’t give me his boss (district manager ) email and told me to leave mines (which I did ) no one has reached out . He is never smiling always seem tired seems so controlling and not general manager material . He didn’t try to make the situation right and for that I will be canceling and never coming back . This is suppose to be a motivating encouraging environment and he is not at all .

I've been a member of this gym for about four months, joining after a back injury because I needed a place with machines that didn't require a spotter.

While the gym is always clean and there are plenty of machines available, I have some mixed feelings about the experience. The staff, in my opinion, isn't very friendly. I've only been greeted twice since I started, and I usually have to initiate the hello when I walk in. It seems like the staff might be quite introverted or perhaps the focus isn't on customer service. However, Maria has been an exception—she's always friendly and helpful with any questions or assistance I need. This might be ideal for those who prefer a more low-key atmosphere.

I also have another membership at Crunch, where everyone is welcoming and greets you as soon as you walk in. So, if you're looking for a clean gym with plenty of available machines and a quieter environment, this location could be a good fit.

Also, music is mostly pop and 5% any other genre. So I suggest you bring your own music because their playlists is catering the older crowd that is at this location.

A very poor experience with the personnel/staff at the front desk the manager name is Mike. he is always harassing us about policies that was not explained to us during our intentional sign-up. This is the fourth time an incident has happened, and my husband and I are considering canceling our memberships. We come to just utilize the gym just like everyone else we don’t sneak people in and we pay our monthly with no problem.

Explained to the manager that I travel a lot and couldn't get to my home gym to cancel. He refused to wave the annual fee even though I was canceling. Planet fitness should allow you to cancel at any of their gyms, especially if you're paying for the premium plan.

Great facility but I’m mad I was told it’s 24x5 plus weekends, and even says 24hours/5 on the window but it’s not even open all day Friday. Very misleading and I’m not happy about that. I work out late and can’t even work out on Friday.

Clean location and plenty of decent equipment when I actively went. Due to location distance from my home stemming from a recent move, I attempted to cancel in person. Now I understand there are policies in place, higher up above this particular location's hands, however, when I went in person to attempt my cancelation, the club manager (upon realizing my attempt to cancel) was dismissive to me, and completely ignored me when someone else walked up to ask a question (keep in mind there was an additional person behind the desk). I felt this was very unprofessional that their staff and management has no regard or care for their members upon hearing your intent to cancel. Good equipment overall at this location, but their level of customer service is definitely subpar.

I’ve been going to this gym for about 8 months now and over it’s been great. Recently I’ve noticed a lot of dead roaches and most people don’t clean the machines after use. They have a major problem with the AC. There are leaks over machines which can be very hazardous for a gym. Not to mention the germs 🦠 that are being spread by people not wiping down the machine and how hot it is inside the gym.

I’ve been working out at PF for 3 months and this placed is great. I look to see if things change and yet it does not. I’ve been watching how the trainer works with the members and I’m impressed. Louis whom I met day 1 is the real deal. He is thorough in his routines and his classes are awesome. What I like most is that he genuinely cares about those he trains. So if you’re looking for a trainer check out Louis at this PF. A personal trainer who is personable.

I love PF it’s an awesome atmosphere the people are friendly and the staff is great. The facility is clean and spacious. I enjoy working out here. Hunter is awesome and very helpful when needed.

I LOVE PLANET FITNESS:

There are times when I get there in the early morning hours 2 or 3 am and I find Jose working diligently at cleaning the place. I was impressed at his attention to details. He does an amazing job keeping the place spotless. Planet fitness takes pride in the cleanliness of this facility. I found out Jose is an outside contractor with Magic Bubbles. Great Job Jose!
