The nastiest gym I’ve been ever been to. The pictures don’t even do it justice. There’s mold everywhere, from the walls, curtains, and ceiling. And the smell is awful. I’ve been a PF member for years as it works great for when traveling, but I’m very disgusted by this location. The workers clearly don’t clean there. I’m never going there again and I recommend everyone else do the same. Crunch Fitness is close by and is actually clean.

BEWARE! do NOT fall for " We now have a new manager". I joined 2 weeks ago.There have been 4 managers that have come and gone in less than 12 months, Compressor air conditioner in the black card room , which you pay premium dollars for! which they have a promo for! does not work , has not worked for months,! Some staff had opened one of the doors with Small device that was taken away So we could get air in this big room. That has tanning beds. And it's hot as hell. -So you sweat and die while you're laying on the HOT WATER hydro massage, Daytime rare to find a staff member behind the desk to get help, And the Mirrors haven't been cleaned and God only knows how long never mind the door handles and the glass on the black card room, which there's 4 huge doors.Does nobody have a clue how to use the cleaners that are on a cart sitting at the front desk? And the
Disgusting bathroom / shower area Is what I am paying premium dollars for as I just joined two weeks ago. I do not use any machines.I only need the massage equipment due to an injury, you have to get up every 10 minutes.Walk out to the open area, sign up again.Come back ridiculous especially when there's no freaking line to use the equipment!

The disgusting bathroom photo photos, are when I kicked trash out of the shower. THREE days later The disgusting trash and balls of hair in the changing room and the shower floor were still outside of the shower! I showed this to a staff member and told that person I was posting this review so they cannot lie about the dates everything is stamped.

There are plenty of other gyms in town.
I would seriously reconsider joining this one!

I’ve reported about the cleanliness of this place in the past. Since the change of management earlier this year it has just gone down hill. There is one quality employee there in the early mornings. The rest turn the music up loudly and play with their phones. Paper towels are often empty. Some employees, on the later shifts actually use the equipment that is out of sight of the main desk. There is gum on the wall of the men’s showers and trash on the floor. What is even worse, a person is going to reply to me here telling me to tell the manager. So, why are we sharing the information on this site if the company isn’t even going to get on this manager. I used to compliment the last manager. I think I need to drop the Black Membership because no one is OFTEN at the desk to start the equipment for us.

I like the atmosphere when I do go. I like the ones in Bradenton and I haven't been to the one in North Sarasota. I hope the equipment is updated and rearranged. We will see. I will give another update. But I'm giving five stars based off of the other Planet fitness.

Would give zero stars if it were an option. This place is filthy! The paper towel holders are often empty with overflowing trash cans.
The ladies room is consistently without toilet paper. The ellipticals have dust and dirt in the tracks to the point they're black. The majority of the TVs have been not working for > 2 months.
There is never a time when at least one (usually more) piece of equipment is down because it's broken. Takes months to see repairs happen. The dip assist machine has been out of order for months. The employees are rarely on the floor cleaning. I've been to other PF gyms in other parts of the country that are so well run and immaculate with several staff members cleaning simultaneously. I'm so frustrated that this is my home gym. It's embarrassing!

Definitely worst gym in Sarasota hands down! Equipment breaks down constantly and literally takes months to fix. Most of the cardio machines are not properly calibrated. All the machines are OLD. Just about all of the TELEVISIONS are broken and haven't worked for about 2 MONTHS. Is this the new planet fitness experience???

This is the second day in a row and the second weekend in a row that nobody is here to open the place on Saturday AND Sunday. The only reason I joined was to be able to come at 6 on the weekends and it is supposed to be open. There are people constantly waiting in the parking lot until 6:30 or after to be able to get in because the guy is late EVERY DAY. Our time is valuable and I will be cancelling if something is not done soon.

Every time I come in the trash cans are over flowing with paper on the floor, women’s bathrooms never have toilet paper in the stalls, and whoever is at the front desk, usually kids, are always on their phone. They don’t even acknowledge when you walk in. I was there for 2 hours and not once did the kid leave the front desk or barely looked up from his device.

The sarasota planet fitness is absolutely DISGUSTING, equipment is falling apart and totally outdated!!!! The floors are disgusting, there is hair and dust balls everywhere. The bathrooms are disgusting, there are rings in the toilets. The cable machines are a mess, they are missing clips and pins. The paper towel dispensers are usually empty and the hand sanitizer is empty or just not working. The employees dont respect their workplace so neither do its members, they never clean up after themselves, they just leave their trash everywhere and never wipe down any equipment after use. You never see any employee cleaning, they are always just sitting on the counter eating, on their phone or talking to each other. 5 years ago I gave this gym a 5 star but I had to come back and update my review because it has totally gone to trash.

As a travel nurse I've been utilizing Planet fitness for the overall aspects of it conveniently being 24hrs and the overall service. Unfortunately, this planet fitness has consistently failed at keeping it clean. Stopped in to see if I could suspend my account as i’m traveling for the summer. The clerk told me to go on the app but I couldn’t find it.
I returned and was told by the manager they only do that if you have a medical condition so not only did the guy misinform me it’s not possible.
Manager refused to credit me the 75 and so I’m out the cash even though i was given wrong information.
Better off canceling your membership if you are a snowbird or finding a more knowledgeable place!

I’ve noticed a recurring issue with Planet Fitness locations across different states: front desk staff often don’t greet members when they walk in or acknowledge them on the way out. Many times, they’re chatting among themselves instead of paying attention, and I end up scanning myself in while they continue their conversations. It makes me wonder if this lack of engagement is part of the corporate culture being adopted across gyms.

Additionally, I visit the Sarasota location several times a year, and one consistent problem is the free weight rack. It’s almost always disorganized, with weights scattered and out of place, making it difficult to find what you need. For a gym of this size, I’d expect better attention to detail and member experience.

I tried this Planet Fitness location on vacation and while it’s functional, it’s definitely lacking in cleanliness and organization. The dumbbells are always out of order, which makes workouts frustrating. Floors aren’t well maintained and often look dirty. The locker rooms are honestly disgusting and could use a deep cleaning. On top of that, several machines are missing adjustment pins, which makes them unusable. Overall, the gym works if you just need the basics, but the upkeep and
cleanliness leave a lot to be desired.

The tanning beds were completely disgusting and dirty. The floor was all rusted in the stand up booth, I had to actually spray my feet and wipe them with paper towels after from walking on the floor, even the bathrooms were rusty.. Good gym in my opinion, only issue is with people using the 30 min express circuit for things other than its intended. People will go in there and use one machine for 20 minutes and just shit there on their phone. Others will just go from random machine to random machine. You are supposed to go down the line in order from where you start otherwise I end up waiting because I can’t get to a machine I need to finish the circuit. Supposed to be monitored by staff according to the sign but this happens all day every day there. I never see staff checking in on the area. Other than that great place to workout.

Also I forgot my wife wants me to add that you guys need to get the spray tan beds? She says other ones have it.

This is not about the facility. This is about signing up. I tried to sign-up with Planet Fitness. I offered my credit card, for payments or to pay in full, but they insisted on me giving them my checking account information as well, incase the card fails. I would happily have a 2nd card on file as backup. I offered to pay in full. There is no need for the company to have my checking account as a backup.

I used the PF gym today on a day pass. Not sure why they had some recent bad ratings but I had a great experience here. Super friendly staff, awesome selection of machines, and I found the place to be spotlessly clean and well maintained. You know for $20 a month this is the best deal in town!! Keep up the good work.

UPDATE!!! I left my name and number for a manager to call me back on Tuesday May 13, it is now a week later and still no call back. My next action will be contacting Planet Fitness corporate office. This location should be shut down or relocated.

Been going here for 5 years and had no issues until yesterday. Someone picked my personal lock and broke into the locker my stuff was in. They stole my debit cards and money. They then went to Best Buy and purchased $900 worth of items on card. When I went back later that day to fill out a complaint, the individual working the desk let someone come and n without any credentials. At that moment I cancelled my membership. How can you just let someone in without showing id or any type of identification? Not good business, I go to workout and shouldnt have to worry about things in locker. I have witnessed individuals walking in acting like they scan phones and their screen be blank, because no one is at front desk or anywhere to be found.

This gym has gone from bad to worse. Today I decided to write this review because I have already written to the email address provided to other bad reviews and the response was to talk to the manager. In the entire time I have been coming to this gym(since January that I moved to Sarasota), I have not seen a manager in the facility. I come here before work and need to shower after working out but it’s been more than 2 months now that I’ve had to shower with cold water. There has been no hot water all that time and the staff has no idea when that issue will be resolved. Today I walked in to a terrible smell and the bathroom was super filthy. I’m not sure what is going on and why this gym is not like the rest of the PFs that I have been too, but it says alot about the owner. I am sooo disappointed because I have really enjoyed being a member of PF in other cities that I lived in :-(

Giving two stars because one star always seems too dramatic. This is my third PF location (two previously in other states) and it's frustratingly inferior. Equipment is constantly broken or missing, staff unengaged, not sure what they think they were hired to do other than talk to each other or play on their cells, equipment is never restacked, paper towel stations empty or broken, patrons breaking all the rules, nobody does anything about it. Kids allowed to run loose and break equipment. Last week, a lady with a DOG worked out on the machine next to me!! Hardly surprising, it smelled like a dog and barked while I tried to work out. All responses from the alleged "owner" to any negative reviews say to report concerns to the manager. I don't think there's been a manager employed here in months. Do yourself a favor, spend a little more money and join a legitimate gym.

I’ve been a member at this gym for 8yrs. Randomly in the last few months, my account has been overcharged from planet fitness when I called manager Tina to talk to her and ask her why ?She reimbursed me but when it happened again her response this time was it’s not my problem and that I would have to figure it out. When I try to explain to her that it is impossible for there to be no money in my account because is linked with my savings account and that there was always money there for the $10 monthly fee. She continued to talk over me and not listen to anything that I said, and then informed me that my membership had been canceled which I told her I hadn’t even been in there to do that so she must’ve canceled my membership without my consent.! Super rude after eight years of having a membership there!! when I said to her, I haven’t even been in there to cancel my membership. She didn’t say oh let’s fix this. Oh, let me make this right we don’t want to lose you nothing!😢
Well they continued to charge my account so I had to go to my bank and stop planet fitness from taking money out after Tina had canceled my membership. What was hurtful is she acted like she could care less about figuring out why I was being more than double charged ,after she had already reimbursed me before??
Check your account and make sure that they’re taking out the amount that they say they’re taking out! my bank wants me to go back over the last year or two and make sure that they weren’t overcharging me for a long period of time and I didn’t notice

I travel on the road and have been to over 100 Planet Fitness locations across the country and have been with PF for over 8 years. I can honestly say that this is one of the bottom 10%. This planet fitness hasn’t had hot water for 2 months. How long does it take to change a water heater? Completely ridiculous. The bathrooms are also disgusting and poorly maintained. The showers are full of mold and the curtains look like they’ve never been changed. Everything is broken. The closest other location in South Sarasota is much nicer and better managed. Or join some other gym. Don’t join this location! You’ll see that the owner posts the same response to all the other reviews “speak to the manager” but nothing is ever done. The owner or corporate needs to “speak to the manager”.

I would love this gym SO much more if it was clean... and if the person at the front desk didn't have her back turned, bent over on her phone ignoring everyone, every single morning.

4 mornings in a row, I've taken a bottle off of the cart at the front, let them know that the restrooms/shower stalls are gross, and gone to clean butt prints on benches, powder off of counters, and sprayed grey crud out of the shower mats before I feel comfortable enough to use the facility to shower.

It's not hard to keep a sparkling facility. Please take better care of this gym. Your work reflects you.

I am extremely disturbed by an employee at Planet Fitness who is consistently rude. He usually works out while I’m there, and he is always unpleasant. Today, however, his behavior was out of control. He was standing between two machines, and when I sat down to tie my shoes, he came over, cursed me out, and called me names before moving to the other machine.

I spoke with a district manager, but she told me that there was no manager at the gym at that time. I’m not sure what she’s doing, but I’m trying to address this. I’ve been going to gyms for years, and staff are typically trained to be polite and professional. However, this person is always angry, even when I try to greet him or say goodbye. He just looks at me in a strange, rude way.

I am very disturbed by his behavior. I’m not sure if something is wrong with him or if he’s just angry, but if he needs help, I would be happy to assist. However, there is no excuse for him to treat and curse me out like that.

This isn’t the first time he’s acted inappropriately. Once, I was waiting at the front desk for my cousin, who has special needs, and he started screaming at me, repeatedly asking, “How can I help you? What do you want?” I explained that I was simply waiting for someone, but he kept yelling.

I go to the gym to relieve stress and find peace, not to be harassed by an employee. I’m really disturbed by his actions, and I want to make sure this issue is addressed. I don’t want him to lose his job, but he can’t continue to harass people like that.

There has not been any hot water in a week. The showers are gross with mold and trash strewn about. Worst fitness center I’ve ever been to! Wish I could give them no stars. Obviously the owner really doesn’t care and nothing ever gets any better.

Today I joined Crunch on University and Lockwood Ridge.
All new equipment and impeccably clean. Showers are very clean with soap dispensers.
Highly recommend this place.

I have been a member of Planet Fitness for many years. I have used them in several states. They are always well maintained and the equipment and men’s locker/showers are normally very clean.

The showers at this Beneva Rd location are simply disgusting. It is not just occasionally but every time I’m here. Wet floors, garbage strewn around and the showers have lots of mold and need to a serious cleaning.

It just gets worse every time I come here which is every other day. The equipment is well maintained and often cleaned by the ladies that work here. And I have heard that the ladies room is well maintained.

So who goes into the men’s room to clean? Does anybody even go in there because it is never clean.

I’m sure corporate has minimum standards that should be met by their franchises. They would not be happy if they visited this facility.

I have read many reviews about this facility. You, the owner, give everybody that complains the same answer—we are sorry and please see the manager. I have many times.

I came to this Planet Fitness near Downtown Sarasota located on 501 N Beneva Rd, which is basically within the Town and Country Mall. I have never had a bad experience with any planet fitness gyms except for this one located near the downtown area. I came here in January a couple days after New Year’s Day and then one of the staff members or housekeeping staff – whoever you want to call them, THREW AWAY MY EXTRA T-SHIRT without even just bringing all the stuff to the front desk or making an area basically called “LOST AND FOUND”. I just put my T-shirt inside the locker before working out since I had to go to church later in the afternoon. I thought about working out since this gym is close to downtown where my church is located and then I had enough time to workout. 45 minutes later, I asked the staff if they found any BLUE TSHIRT in the locker that I was utilizing and then they said “LET ME SHOW IT TO YOU, WE THREW IT IN THE TRASH BECAUSE OUR BOSS INSTRUCTED US TO THROW ALL ITEMS FOUND IN THE LOCKERS SINCE WE ARE CLEARING THE LOCKERS, SINCE SOME OF THEM ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WE APOLOGIZE. WE ARE CLEARING EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY THE LOCKERS THAT HAVE A COMBINATION CODE LOCK IN THEM”. The staff member even showed me my T-shirt in the garbage can and asked if I still wanted to take it. I told him, “I’M NOT STUPID. WHY WOULD I TAKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE TRASH? THAT’S WHY IT’S ALREADY CALLED TRASH.” I told that staff member that I wasn’t very happy but at the same time, showed composure and calmness despite what happened. Per gym regulations, no staff member is allowed to remove stuff from the lockers unless they have been kept overnight. Second, there should be a lost and found location or have proper communication and documentation between members and staff members. I asked to speak to the manager of that location, whose name was JEM/JEN. Until now, I haven’t even heard from her regarding my complaint. The staff members said that the manager(s) would reach out to me, however it’s been a month already and I never heard from anybody. I WILL NEVER COME BACK TO THIS TOWN AND COUNTRY LOCATION NEAR DOWNTOWN SARASOTA EVER AGAIN. I ended up going to a nearby store just to spend 30 dollars just to have 3 extra T-shirts.

One thing I would also want to share is that the water coming from the fountain/filling station doesn’t taste like purified water. It tastes like WELL-WATER or RECYCLED WATER.

I used to think Planet Fitness was a nice spot to go. Unfortunately, there’s a really small stature man who works at this location who is unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I was totally pleasant and cordial, yet completely disrespected and insulted by that little short man with the big mustache.He was probably projecting his own insecurities outwards on myself, but in a workplace you need to hold yourself to a higher standard in my opinion. I’ve been at this facility twice and both times water heater is off , I am traveling for work a lot around States and its frustrating when you finished your workout and can’t take a shower! No paper no nothing ..I been a member to planet fitness for about five years or more give or take off and on.but today did it all you letting people in with expired membership or with no membership 🤔 while everybody that does come in and work we have to pay but it's not fair for everyone and then you letting homeless people come in and set around or in the bathroom hanging around and you look in the lockers and there is cans of food in them..and that's all shifts of the hour because I seen how day shift is and night shift..I know yall don't care about what am writing down but am done yall can keep it the way you want it am don't..

I recently joined planet fitness and I couldn't be happier. The staff is all very friendly and welcoming. I usually come in the afternoon when Austin and Danny are working. Two great guys who seem to be very supportive of my early fitness routine and give great advice if I ever have any questions.

I did give it 5 stars but feel the need to give it three. Ppl say its dirty. Like really dirty includng the showers. I feel the need to clarify it is in fact dirty as hell and it wasnt always like this. It rapidly went down hill after a change of management and has been like this sincd 2024 at least. Im a regular here and wont stop going but it is in facg true. Its filthy and the showers are moldy. So yes if you dont like moldy showers either go home to shower or keep looking for a gym.

Smelt just like someone was smoking pot when I walked in.. didn't bother me.. but smelt like a big fat joint!

For the most part, it was clean.. only gonna be as clean as the lazy employees keep it. I'm guessing they don't check the bathrooms often or at all... dirty... but again comes down to the employee doing his or her job.

Had a hot shower.. was broken (handicap stall) that's better than other pf I've been at lately. 2 stars for a hot shower.

Been going here for years now and have seen a lot of issues with staff turnover. I spoke to the manager Jess and she is very considerate, professional and mission-oriented. I have seen members abuse the restroom facilities by throwing random trash in the drains (clogs them) and treat the facility like a beat up door mat. The gym itself is typically clean, staff enforce rules…particularly I have seen Danny keep peace and order within the facility. I think Danny has been the only constant I have seen staff wise is concerned and is a pleasure to exchange formalities with. He’s very professional and always non-stop working when I’m there. As far as others consistency goes I can’t speak for others as I see different people often. I have been to amped, crunch and other residing gyms and find this has been the best location to get in, do my thing and bounce. I would recommend going here if you value consistency and gym etiquette.

One of the worst Gyms and experiences. Normally use Venice. Men’s showers are disgusting with worms. Random rules are created as per location basis, like no jeans or crocs. There is a horrible gas leak by the restrooms, especially near women’s, and it is pooling and not leaving. Hot water shut off to “fix issue” however this is dangerous and migraine causing, stomach upsetting. Random vagrants at all hours showing up and acting creepy around guests. Plenty of older men filming young women working out, and perverts in men’s locker room. All the nice staff members change or are forced to leave, so there are no familiar faces. And no, speaking to a club manager won’t help, as that’s the only reply to negative reviews. Clearly it hasn’t changed the environment, at least for the better.

Quite possibly the worst planet fitness in america. Lots of broken equipment and the locker rooms are the dirtiest of any gym I’ve ever visited. They may need to remodeled at this point it’s so bad. The staff are all nice but say there’s nothing they can do. So apparently the owner just doesn’t care and believe it shows. Would rate negative stars if I could. Really a shame as this franchise is usually pretty good and it’s such a convenient location.

On the plus side since it’s disgusting and in disrepair, very few people go so you can always find a machine (hopefully not broken) and cardio will be open so will tanning.

Wow. Just wow. Went to this Planet Fitness around 10pm this evening. Some guy was working out and leaving a curl bar and multiple dumbells all over the floor. He then went to use a number of machines with all this other equipment spread out on the floor. Then he takes his shirt off for at least 30 minutes walking back and forth across the gym sweating all over one machine then another. I had no choice but to confront him and tell him to put his shirt back on and that he was sweating all over the machines and not wiping anything off. He looked PO'd that I even said anything. The management here is clueless. Everyone in the gym witnessed this and the management (one older gentleman walking around with a dustpan and broom) on duty was completely oblivious. This was the absolute worst gym etiquette I've experienced in nearly twenty years of going to the gym. This guy's membership should have been revoked on the spot.

Employees are available at any time to answer questions. They are very kind, respectful and have a cheerful attitude. The location is clean. There is equipment to tackle every muscle group and there are easy-to-follow pictures on every machine that show you how to use it. There are neat perks for Black Card holders. The locker rooms are big and I feel safe there. As a Black Card holder I can go to any other Planet Fitness in the country and bring a friend. They have free WiFi, the app is very easy to use for checking in, finding information, and many other things. They're always open so we can go super early before school and work. The price is very fair for everything they have to offer. The place is very clean and they're big on no judgement which our family greatly appreciates. We feel blessed and feel that becoming Black Card members was a good investment for our health.

Made an appointment with Bik for a first session at the gym and drove all the way out to Lockwood Ridge Road and found a notice on the door inviting me to call Bik if I needed access — there was no sign of him and when I tried to call the number on the door. I got a message saying that the Mailbox for this user has not yet been set up. So there seems to be no way of contacting them and no way of figuring out how to get someone to honour my appointment. This was the appointment time they suggested to me so it is really frustrating that they can’t be bothered to show up or provide any contact information that works.
