I love this Planet fitness compared to the other ones I've been to. All the machines are in excellent shape. I only come to any PF to shower or tan (primarily shower now) this place is the cleanest best water pressure nicest men's locker room of central/southern west Florida Pf locations so far. Beyond a pleasure to stop here for a shower. Excellent. Keep up the amazing work at this location, employees deserve a commendation although it is also likely the location and people who attend the gym as well. Kudos all around, I don't give out 5 stars to gyms easily.

Just joined two weeks ago and was nothing but pleased with my experience there from the front desk, to the trainer, to the equipment.

Mike is amazingly knowledgeable and knows how to tailor workouts to your needs. He’s a gem in a Planet Fitness in Sarasota.

I go to many different PF's. This location falls short on a few items. Air circulation is poor. TV's poor, too many screens on infomercials or just dark. Men's locker room not maintained well. Lots of old people just mostly sitting at stations. Drinking fountain posted as not for drinking. Sloppy management! Get to work management!

Planet Fitness in Sarasota was supposed to cancel my membership and never did. Their system was down at the time and the representative promised the account would get cancelled with my information she had me write down for her. There was never a follow up call or an email that my account could not be canceled due to a change of location to Riverview. In result, I was charged and unable to be refunded. Not good business.

The manager keeps the large fans on low! I've asked staff to turn up but they are told to keep on low! The fans need to be kept higher especially on warm days. It's a gym we are suppose to sweat from our workout not it being too hot in the building! The air doesn't move around enough when the fans are on low!

This PF is slightly smaller than the one in Bradenton. It's a decent place to work out, however, there is little air circulation at the front where the dumbbells and Smith machines are, so it can get quite warm if using these. The fans are mostly over the treadmills, of which there are too many. The warmup area can get pretty cramped, too.

We want in wanting to check out the facility. The two attendants there greeted us and let us walk around to take a look at the gym. We decided to both sign up while we were there. I liked that they didn't push us to sign up, just let us figure it out but then helped when we asked. This is a great planet fitness. It does get pretty busy in the evenings during the week, but that is expected of any gym. The employees (shoutout to Fifi) at this facility are kind and go the extra mile to provide customers with a wonderful experience. It’s clean as well. I’m honestly shocked there’s not any other bad reviews about this, I guess I’m the odd one out but the showers in the men’s room are absolutely insane. Just a glass door that’s practically see through?!?!? What were you all thinking with this design??? There is one at the end that has a curtain but was of course being used and others were waiting around to use that one on the end. The lack of privacy is incomprehensible to me. I’ve never been to this location, and when I went to go put my stuff up and noticed, I walked right back out and left. Maybe most people don’t care, but myself and I’m sure many others are extremely uncomfortable with this idea. What in the world.

I've been a member here for over three years, and my wife joined a few months ago. It's been an A-plus experience for us both.
Some details:

I usually lift weights, and my wife mostly does cardio. We're both happy. The place is huge and there are so many treadmills, ellipticals, bikes and stairs that even at peak, she never even has someone next to her, let alone have to wait. And she can choose from at least a dozen TVs to watch something while she works out.

I rarely have to wait for a Smith rack to open up, unless it's between 5 and 6 PM, and even then it's usually only a few minutes. There are plenty of open machines so I can swap in something else while I wait. And people are usually really courteous about moving along or letting me work in. Like the signs on the wall say -- no attitudes, egos or judgments here.

Other lifters have told me the free coaching is great, though I've never used it. My results on my own have been great. I started here (after a long absence from lifting) to recover from shoulder surgery, and the variety of equipment allowed me to do everything my physical therapist recommended, and more. And it's been such a positive experience that I've kept with it and now I'm probably in better shape than I was in my high school sports days.

Some reviewers have complained about broken equipment, and that was sometimes a problem in the past. But now the management seems much more on top of that, and on the rare occasion something breaks, it's been fixed within a couple of days. I'd like to see a couple more benches in the dumbbells area, but overall the number and variety of machines is outstanding. They also are investing the place, adding three new types of machines in January 2025.

Having such a well-outfitted place for $15 a month is just a ridiculously good deal (I was paying more than that 20 years ago at a smaller gym up north). I recently upgraded to the higher-end membership because my son was home from college and that let me bring him for free. But the free access to the hydromassage chairs has me thinking about keeping the premium level. It's a nice feature.

Finally, I'd just like to say a word about the staff. The evening crew of Kelley, Heather and Maria are terrific. They've patiently answered some of our dumb questions and oddball requests and are unfailing kind. And I always see them working the floor -- just this week I saw Heather dusting and wiping down the machines, all the way down to the floor, and Kelley scrubbing down the lounge area and the men's bathroom and shower area.

Over the years I've been a member at five fitness centers and used the gyms at D3 and D1 colleges, and overall the south Sarasota Planet Fitness is my favorite of them all. Good job, management and staff. We'll see you soon.

I would just like to honor and thank the Assistant General Manager, “HEATHER” who is very phenomenal and impeccable as one of the key leaders of this location. She is very hardworking, very much pays attention to detail, and knows how to take care of guests and customers. One thing I would like to share with you is this:

I am a black card member, AGAIN, A BLACK CARD MEMBER!! I am not just a regular member who is locked-in only to his Home Gym. Think about it as a Frequent-Flyer member with an Airline wherein you have a Higher-Tier status which then gives you more benefits, and you are honored anywhere you go. Same thing like being a Hotel rewards member (let’s say Mariott Bonvoy), when you have that status, you can go to any hotels worldwide, whichever you want. That’s why I didn’t think twice when I signed-up for my membership. I go to different planet fitness gyms depending on my assignment at work. But listen, I went to this Planet Fitness near Downtown Sarasota located on 501 N Beneva Rd, which is basically within the Town and Country Mall. I have never had a bad experience with any planet fitness gyms except for that one located near the downtown area. I went there in January a couple days after New Year’s Day and then one of the staff members or housekeeping staff – whoever you want to call them, THREW AWAY MY EXTRA T-SHIRT without even just bringing all stuff to the front desk or making an area basically called “LOST AND FOUND”. I just put my T-shirt inside the locker before working out since I had to go to church later in the afternoon. I thought about working out since this gym is close to downtown where my church is located and then I had enough time to workout. 45 minutes later, I asked the staff if they found any BLUE TSHIRT in the locker that I was utilizing and then they said “LET ME SHOW IT TO YOU, WE THREW IT IN THE TRASH BECAUSE OUR BOSS INSTRUCTED US TO THROW ALL ITEMS FOUND IN THE LOCKERS SINCE WE ARE CLEARING THE LOCKERS, SINCE SOME OF THEM ARE NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. WE APOLOGIZE. WE ARE CLEARING EVERYTHING, ESPECIALLY THE LOCKERS THAT HAVE A COMBINATION CODE LOCK IN THEM”. The staff member even showed me my T-shirt in the garbage can and asked if I still wanted to take it. I told him, “I’M NOT STUPID. WHY WOULD I TAKE SOMETHING OUT OF THE TRASH? THAT’S WHY IT’S ALREADY CALLED TRASH.” I told that staff member that I wasn’t very happy but at the same time, showed composure and calmness despite what happened. Per gym regulations, no staff member is allowed to remove stuff from the lockers unless they have been kept overnight. Second, there should be a lost and found location or have proper communication and documentation between members and staff members. I asked to speak to the manager of that location, whose name was JEM/JEN. Until now, I haven’t even heard from her regarding my complaint. The staff members said that the manager(s) would reach out to me, however it’s been a month already and I never heard from anybody. I WILL NEVER GO BACK TO THAT TOWN AND COUNTRY LOCATION NEAR DOWNTOWN SARASOTA EVER AGAIN. I ended up going to a nearby store just to spend 30 dollars just to have 3 extra T-shirts.

I came back to this gym near where I work and told our Assistant General Manager, Heather about what happened at that Town and Country Downtown Planet Fitness location. She even did showed empathy and apologized to me for what happened over there even though no one until now reached-out to me from that location. Heather did take care and took action to fix this issue that I had with that location. Imagine coming to a location and not being treated well. I would rather come and continue going to a location where you feel focused, not intimidated, and where you are treated fairly. Heather like I said, showed phenomenal and outstanding and Impeccable performance and service in handling my issue and concern. This is no wonder why she is THE ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER of the South Sarasota location. Thank You so much Heather!!! You are amazing!!! I will see you guys from time to time!!!!

Good facility, well kept. This facility offers a nice break from hard core lifters. Circuit training area is a nice option for a change in routine.

Regardless of what planet fitness I go to, charmed is always on tv. I usually go to Planet fitness in winter springs. The rockbot app here needs some more Pearl Jam! I like playing Pearl Jam for the people!

I visited this gym the week I had a tournament and I got to meed Zoe, Heather, Jasmin, Wendy, Zach, Chris, Branden and others that always greet you with positivity and it's a clean gym every time I visit it's clean and all the workers always make sure to clean when traffic slows down and as for the bathroom it's always clean when I am here I took photos too and here is how it is clean. The non bathroom area is always clean as well.

It's very clean, friendly staff and plenty of equipment. Only reason that I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because of tv channel options. They have Fox News on at least 2 televisions, and no televisions with MSNBC. MSNBC was up for a few days, and I assume it got backlash from the conservative base. I submitted a comment online. It's a great place to work out.

Please consider providing wet wipes which other fitness center's use. This would be a much better alternative to the paper towels now in use. Also, please adjust your TV channels from game shows and soap operas to more news and business channels i. e. Bloomberg, Fox Business, CNBC, BBC, etc.

I am so thrilled to have found Planet Fitness. Heather was incredibly helpful by giving me an introduction to the equipment by showing me how to use the ones she thought were beneficial for me. The location is so convenient too.

I cancelled my membership at the Y after I met with Peter, the personal trainer at PF. What a great deal….free personal training sessions with an experienced , certified trainer! So I started a personal training program with Peter, who designed a program for me and encouraged me as I did the exercises and showed me correct positions and form. I was just delighted and excited about doing my workouts and having appointments for training with Peter. I told my friends at the Y about Peter snd my free training sessions with him. Several of my friends were just about ready to cancel their Y memberships too and come to train with Peter.

Then…..I walked in for my regular appointment with Peter….and I was told by a staff member “he’s not here any longer”. I was stunned and sooo disappointed! I know that Peter must have been let go (fired) suddenly because he had told me how much he likes working at PF and what satisfaction he gets from working with his clients. So I am guessing that he did not leave PF because he didn’t like working there. I had future appointments booked with him so I know he planned to stay.

Why would a fitness center fire a personal trainer who was bringing in new clients??? Have they hired a new trainer?? PF advertises “free personal training and classes.”

So now….I am stuck….no personal trainer, no classes… I am older and was just getting started and was so excited about improving my fitness. Having an appointment scheduled is what I need to get myself to workout. If I go back to the Y, now I have to pay their new monthly rate for new members! And my friends are disappointed too…they were ready to jump ship and come to PF.

Lesson learned….don’t jump ship until you know the other one won’t sink!

I tend to be optimistic …so I hope PF hires another trainer soon…..wish Peter would come back.

Nice and clean gym is still correct. Nice and friendly staff for the most part, not all I am sorry to say, but most yes. However, I hate to say this, but the men's room is a mess. I am not sure who is assigned to monitor and clean it, but you can see by the attached photos this is not a high priority by anyone. I am posting this update because this is not the first time I have seen this... again sorry to say....

I am a member of the local YMCA, which is a great gym but has inconvenient hours for me—a factor which often leads to me not being able to exercise. Consequently, I decided to purchase a membership here at PF—where inconvenient hours are not a problem as it is open 24/7–as a back-up option.

PF features a plethora of guest amenities, is clean and is furnished with state-of-the-art machines, cable stations and other equipment. The only criticism I could think of would be in regard to the lack of barbells; however, this is a well-known fact about PF and not a major issue as there are a multitude of “Smith Machines” available for use as alternatives.

Overall, PF has made for a great back-up gym so far—solely based on equipment, location, hours and facility. But the real bee’s knees is the pricing: a mere $10 per month (plus some minor fees) grants one access to all this. I would like to thank all the staff members for making this particular PF so great and am looking forward to continue working out here in the future.
