I'm not exactly sure what shifted or changed with the demeanor of the staff. Throughout the many years as a member, no matter how many staff have came and went.., I have always been treated as a valued member ! But lately No matter how much I try to express my gratitude for their services..the vibe they all seem to display is as if I'm a bother or burden to assist or even greet me with common courtesy as a member! With only an exceptional few mstaff who are usually the newbies or mangers.. but not long before they too show face ! And the fact that it's become so obvious they don't care to even hide it anymore.. as I watch how they interact with many other members that walk through their doors. ( A valued customer )

My high schooler had an amazing time at this Planet Fitness location over the summer. The trainer was very professional, approachable, and took the time to explain different options clearly. The equipment was always available, which made workouts easy and stress-free — either the gym was less crowded or they simply had plenty of machines to go around. The atmosphere felt positive and supportive throughout. Overall, a great experience that made fitness enjoyable and accessible. Loved this location and highly recommend it!

I didn't like it because it doesn't follow the standards of other franchises. They use equipment from different brands, with different designs and weights. I found it inferior; they should maintain standardization. It also has less equipment than other places I've been to.

Clean, helpful staff, and enough equipment for everyone (and everyone seems to be pretty mindful/courteous here). This was my backup gym membership for traveling or late night workouts; I started using this facility as my regular gym when I'm home. It's definitely one of the better PFs. The weekend hours kinda suck but it forces me to take a break at times. Keep up the good work staff. It doesn't go unnoticed, and it's appreciated 👍

I visited the Gunn Highway location because it has a very high Google Review Rating. Well I wasn't disappointed when I visited the location on October 2, 2024. The Staff gave me a warm welcome and the manager named Nathan helped me enroll in a gym membership. He gave me a thorough tour of the gym. Also he explained the policies in detail. Pretty decent gym, however, I wish they had less treadmills and more upper and lower body machines. I think they should have more leg press machines, it’s a favorite at that gym as is the ab crunch!

Gym is clean, the ladies room is always clean and smells nice.

I really want to see the morning shift managers be more attentive to those ppl who sit on machines on their phones for over 5 minutes and not workout! I cannot tell you how often this occurs and how you literally have to walk up to these ppl and ask them how long they plan on occupying the machine they are NOT USING. It’s beyond frustrating to those who actually use the gym to workout.

Since I started going to this location I have been impressed by the customer service provided by Tyler. While others are rarely paying attention to who walks through the door, or put their phone down long enough to notice, he will greet you with a smile and a hello every time. The gym itself is not bad, but as soon as you want to cancel your membership, you will have problems, because to do this you have to personally appear at their club, it cannot be done online. I work as a truck driver and for the second month I can't cancel my subscription and they charge me money even though I don't actually visit their gym!

I signed up in March 2021. Gone on my own and realized that I need help. Looked at their schedule for classes and registered for several. Every time I show up I’m told there is no trainer on this day.. Not sure why they schedule classes when there is no one there. Or allow you to sign up for classes and do not notify you if there is a change. Facilities are clean. Employees not very knowledgeable or helpful. Equipment works without issues. Never really busy so it’s comfortable. Does not meet my personal needs as a beginner but should be fine for moderate to advanced people.

This gym is immaculate, front desk staff is SUPER helpful and welcoming. I've used the hyrdobeds, red light therapy and these areas were so nice and clean.

BUT, this gym is a damn icebox inside. No gym should be this cold during any part of the day.

I want to break a sweat and enjoy my workout. Not freeze in every part I go - the bathrooms, spa area (so cold) and entire gym is freezing. ****None of the other Planet Fitnesses I frequent are this cold. Muscles need warmth to get results, not cold. I literally have to guy buy a jacket to workout at this gym now. And yes, I will come back because it's a beautiful gym!

But losing your core temp during a workout hinders the muscles.

Staff says they can't touch the thermostat but, mgt or the owner needs to bring the temp up a few degrees and lower those fans in the back area where the ab equipment is. Thanks for such a pretty gym. Brrrrrr

Well, this is unfortunate, but I need to update my review. I had to close my account a year ago due to a job loss and the last time I was there March 2023, in person, I had the guy close my membership because I couldn’t afford it.
Today I came back, I was ready to renew my membership, I walked through the door ready and excited, I happily and proudly announced that I am back, I confirmed that I had a membership before, I figured it would be faster to reactivate my account, I thought they charge the monthly fee $25 and I’m in the red light booth.
However the girl on the other side of the counter was of course new, never met her before (I knew the old crew from a year ago, they were so cool and friendly) this one calls the manager and they throw it into my face, that “I”didn’t close my account properly a year ago so they cannot renew my membership unless I pay for what I owe.
I was shocked. I was put on the spot to prove myself with an email from a year ago that they sent me if I really closed my account, practically instead of apologizing for their mistake, I was called a liar, humiliated, and ridiculed by a 17 year old girl who was mocking me when I asked how the membership process works, yes I signed a paper, who remembers what I did a year ago during that membership closing process, which I didn’t want to close, but had to.
They want to charge me $75 for not closing my account properly and I owe it to them. I said please find the person in your system who worked here on the day when I last checked in and find out what exactly he did to my account, because I asked him to close it. He laughed into my face and said: we don’t know who worked here on that day.
I am very disappointed. I asked him to find a way for me to come back and fix the problem, he kept saying the only way is for me to re join the gym is to pay for their mistake, which of course he doesn’t admit.
He wanted me to prove it with an email. After I left I remembered that I deleted about 100 thousand emails because my gmail was full, so I’m sorry, I cannot prove myself. And I wasn’t ready to defend myself when I stepped through the door of planet fitness, I had my gym bag with me and my tanning googles ready to be back. I used to be greeted with a smile, now I was laughed at and they don’t care that I was a good customer for years, and they don’t care that I lost my job and I still haven’t recovered or that I went back to college and my income is very limited, he wants me to pay up for someone else’s mistake instead of having a valued member back at the gym. I walked out. I will not pay $75 for someone else’s mistake, it’s not right.
I closed my membership in person, at least that’s what I asked the guy to do a year ago, clearly he didn’t do it. But I shouldn’t be paying for that especially when I am short on money.
Too bad, I liked this place even though I had to drive 15 minute to get here.

My favorite location! This is the cleanest, friendliest least stressful Planet Fitness I've been to so far between Naples and Tampa. The tanning machines are always clean (they have the stand up hybrid tanning beds with redlight which doesn't burn my fair skin and I get a nice sunkissed color in 9 minutes) and the staff doesn't hand me a bottle of cleaning spray at the front desk, like at other locations where they want the members to clean and the staff does nothing besides watching movies on their cellphones. Here, the staff smiles and want to be helpful. There are lockers with number combinations which was awesome when i forgot to bring my lock. Rafael and Ace have been so nice and helpful always with a smile, others too, but when I came here 3 times so far they were always here. The workout equipments are clean and new, and in good working condition. Place is not as busy as other locations which makes it easier to get my workout done and be in and out without having to wait for my turn. Keep it up and I'll be keep coming back! Thanks!

I wanted to update this review I started with planet fitness when the old Gunn highway location was open over 12 years ago with a manager special I just couldn't refuse ! then my account was transfer to twelve oaks and each location since has honored my offered special . I was extremely excited to know that Gunn hwy was reopening a new location and this is the best planet fitness in the Tampa Bay area.! staff treat their members like family very personable respectable and professional ! After briefly considering a switch to another local gym.... the Google review GODs have shown me the light! I will keep my Planet Fitness membership where there are always machines available! I have been 6 days in a row this week at varying times and these people are obsessed with CLEANING! The bathrooms spotless. The floors and grounds...spotless. The machines don't even get a chance to collect dust! The massage beds and hydro massage beds are always Clean and Working! I swear I will never consider leaving for a pool/sauna again! I'll take clean stocked and available Planet Fitness anyyyyyy day! The staff at this location always speak. I feel safe and the members truly clean up after themselves and respect each other. There is no machine hogging and no phone calls in the gym.

This is the best gym I've been to so far. My trainer Matt is amazing! He's sweet, knowledgeable, kind, and all-around good, guy! I love the vibe. The staff is always welcoming and encouraging. I have been to many different PF in different states and this one is closer to the bottom.
This is my home PF. I come here at least 4 times a week.
I still don't know who the manger is. All of the workers are at the front desk on their phones all the time. I have literally walked in and walked out without anyone looking up, or saying hello or bye, and they don't even check if you scanned in or not which is a safety issue. Dan (while nice) spends most of the time drawing and not paying attention to customers, or regulating (2 kids screwing around on the treadmill wearing sandals or homeless guy living there they claimed "was a member"). A few times I saw workers cleaning, restocking supplies, but thought this was supposed to happen more Frequently. Not everyone sprays down their machine before or after use, (just myself and a few people) which is disgusting.
They just now got a Personal trainer. At least 1 or 2 TVs are off. I asked Dan if we can change one TV to ESPN, SC or local sporting event, he said no. Why do I want to watch emerald sell his oven or infomercial for food when I am working out and the rest are the same channels no one watches at home. This place is always packed during the week but empty on the weekend. When I go the same people are there working out but no one smiles or says hi or talks to anyone which is weird to me.

Oh and the "fake 5 star reviews" that are just copied and pasted with all the workers names on it is because there is a sign that says "if you write a 5 star review and list all the workers you get a free can of Celsius." Dishonest! Smh 🤦‍♂️ I did call them out on it.

If there was a better PF out there i would switch but they make it impossible to cancel your membership!

My fiancé and I come into the Carrollwood location on Gunn Hwy. 4-6 times every week. Your young lady known as Qui is one of the most welcoming employees to see everyday. She always has a smile, is friendly and super helpful with anything.
The gym is clean and pleasant to work out in!

Arguably the cleanest & most well maintained PF Gym in Tampa. Love this location as it’s very conveniently located near me and never seems to be overcrowded when I go during the day. Kevin is an excellent Manager and you can tell the staff respects him and they enjoy working there. He’s very professional, friendly and engaging. Matt, the Trainer, is very motivating to work with and he knows his stuff. He makes me want to keep coming back and work even harder everyday to reach my goals. Having the PF Black Card, I’ve been to several PF Locations in different states over the years, and I’m very happy to call the PF at 5353 Gunn Highway my Home Gym! 👍🏼💪🏼

I have been a member of planet fitness on Gunn hwy for over a year! I am very pleased with how encouraging and welcoming the staff is. The facility is kept very clean. I see a lady, Elisa, vacuuming and wiping down different areas besides the staff wiping down the exercise equipment. I appreciate their attitudes and willingness to assist their patrons!

I have been to many different gyms in the past, but if I'm being completely honest, this has been one of, if not the best, one's I've had the pleasure of having. I have been visiting this gym for the last six weeks and in that time I've felt that everyone at the front desk is incredibly friendly and helpful. As someone who primarily speaks Spanish (but is able to get by ok in English), I really appreciate how anytime I need assistance they try to pair me with someone who also speaks Spanish so that we're able to communicate clearer. I don't recall the exact gentleman who helps me the most often, but I will say that everyone who I've interacted with has been great (Kevin, Kay, Dan, Colin, Bri, Elisa, Muhammad, Manny, Joey, and Arlene). I look forward to continue coming here!
