So they allow men to come up to you while you workout and say inappropriate things and also follow you in the parking lot, disgusting example of greed over safety for members A gym should be a safe place, a place you can enjoy while you workout, but here they continued to allow a man to harass me and did nothing for weeks until I finally had to quit. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I’ve been to many Planet Fitness locations, but none compare to this one because of Damon and Victor. These two are, without question, the most capable, competent, and genuinely helpful employees I’ve ever come across at any gym. Their professionalism, attitude, and consistent willingness to go above and beyond are nothing short of exceptional.

They don’t just do their jobs, they elevate the entire atmosphere. Every time I walk in, the gym is clean, organized, and welcoming, and that’s a direct reflection of the pride and effort these two put in daily. They deserve real recognition because what they bring to the table is greatness.

This planet fitness is actually fairly well equipped. I've gone in here many times and except for right after work hours, all the machines are very easy to get on and off of without a wait.

The staff is always kind saying hello and goodbye. It is clean and people are respectful of the equipment.

I canceled my membership last September. I went into the facility and signed paperwork to be canceled. They assured me it would be canceled, but in case I was billed one additional month that would be refunded that. I continue to be charged for additional months. I went in and spoke with somebody who told me they did not have the authority to change anything and then I needed to speak with the billing department. The billing department said the person who I spoke with was wrong and then they needed to speak with the manager. Bottom line, I was charged again this month and it’s literally almost been a year. I changed my credit card and somehow they managed to get my new credit card number and are continuing to charge me. I don’t know what to do at this point, but I would never ever sit foot in there again.

UPDATE SEPT 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️: Since my original review in April I've seen a lot of new staff and am pleased to be able to report that all of the trash/paper towel combos have been replaced. Many of the cracked upholstery which I didn't think to mention in my original review have been repaired. I regularly see staffing vacuuming and/or cleaning equipment. There are still broken foot straps on the large seated bikes, but I'm not seeing the cardboard shims under equipment anymore. PF has also opened a new location in North Port and another company with a similar business model opened in Englewood which I believe has taken some pressure of of the South Venice PF making it easier to get through a workout in a timely manner.
ORIGINAL REVIEW APRIL 2025 ⭐️⭐️⭐️: I waited about 6 months before leaving this review to see how things changed. To be fair there have been multiple new pieces of equipment come in. I've been in 5 different PF in two states and this one needs the most updating of them. I know it gets a lot of use and maybe like the one of their sister gyms it needs a second story or an additional location. I'm almost always waiting for the reverse fly and the seated dip machine because there is only one of each. There are always machines out of order although they most of the time seem to be repaired quickly. My main complaint is about the paper towel dispensers which always seem to have one non-functioning side, the broken foot straps on the large seated bikes, and the machines that have cardboard shims to balance them. These things have been this way since before I took these pics in Feb and as of the end of April were still that way. None of it is going to stop me from patronizing PF for now and I think it plays an important role in the health of our community so I don't want to see it fall apart.

I never really leave poor reviews, and I haven’t had issues at this gym for a while of going there. But I was recently touched in the middle of the gym, by somebody I didn’t know, didn’t acknowledge, anything, wasn’t even looking at, then threatened. The general manager acknowledged all these events on video, but decided it was okay for them to happen to me. It is unfortunate, because I used to like this gym. The other staff is great!

We've been coming here for years, 4 years to be precise and I wanted to say that Alfred and Lori do a wonderful job here! They're very personable and kind! You feel like when you come in and They're working here, that you're welcomed in and you feel like family!

They are always smiling, happy to see people who come in and are the most pleasant people here!

They ensure the machines and bathrooms are cleaned, the patrons are attended to in a very timely manner. My only suggestion, I wish they worked the weekday afternoons more! It's great seeing Alfred and Lori, but is there any way to get them more shifts during the week?

This is a planet fitness if you have been to 1 you have been to most. I will say that I do not like their cardio equipment as I have not figured out how to add my weight. am disgusted and honestly heartbroken to be writing this, but as a mother, I cannot stay silent.

I brought my teenage daughter to this gym today — she’s just starting her fitness journey, and we were both excited. But that excitement quickly turned into HORROR the moment we stepped into the women’s changing room.

There were TWO TICKS — one crawling on the bench, the other on the wall near the lockers. I wish I were exaggerating. This isn’t dirt or dust we’re talking about… these are blood-sucking parasites that carry serious diseases.

I cannot even describe how terrified I felt thinking one might have gotten on my daughter. We didn’t even finish changing. We left immediately, and I spent the next hour at home doing a full body check and hair inspection like it was a scene out of a horror movie.

This is a GYM — a place that should prioritize health, cleanliness, and safety. I pay for a membership expecting basic hygiene, not to be dodging ticks like we’re in the woods.

Absolutely unacceptable. My daughter is traumatized, and we will not be returning. Management needs to take this seriously and treat the facility properly.

Great location. But this pace is so outdated. Not for nothing, but when it rains, they have buckets all over the place, catching leaks. Their equipment is missing knobs on cable pulls, on machines weight numbers are missing, so guessing how much weight you are pulling. They could add some more pull bars and handles so you aren't waiting for some. Smith machines don't have enough weights, always barrowing from other machines. This place has not been updated in the last 10 years. If you go to the PF in Pt Charlotte, is it so much better, but it is what it is. Some leaks are so bad that there is a bucket next to the machine you are working out, and you have to make sure you don't trip over it. This place could be improved a lot, considering how busy it it.

Edit: To whom ever replies to these reviews. Why do I need to reach out to the staff? Isn't it the managements job or the reginal manager? Under every review you are asking the reviewer to do you job.

Rejoined PF when we moved to Venice and May from Michigan. This ge4m has a mildew odor often everywhere. Some days it's stronger than others... Apparently the cleaning with rags that have not been cleaned and dried out or in stagnant water. I go to Northport occasionally and never run into this smell

Great place to work out. You'll find all ages and shapes next to each other, which is refreshing. Exercise equipment is repaired quickly.

The crowd indicator might be a bit more honest, but it isn't a major problem.

The facility is cleaned regularly. Men's locker room and rest room is well maintained.

i recommend the hydromassage chair. Then again, that might encourage usage. Let's think about that one for a moment ... the hydromassage chairs are a great idea Monday through Friday until 6ish, then they are prone to random acts of hydromassage violence.

Planet Fitness has a lot of good machines to work out and many nice knowledgeable employees. My problem is with cancelling my membership. I was visiting my mom in Venice and needed a gym to work out at for the 2 weeks I was there. I talked to the employees and they assured me that I could become a black card member for those 2 weeks and cancel before they charged me the annual fee and everything would be good to go. After the 2 weeks was over and I had to go back home, I came in and cancelled my membership. I was assured that it was canceled. I signed the screens that I was told to sign, and that was it. Well I just got a bill 3 days ago for the annual fee. I called and asked why I was charged and the very polite lady on the phone told me that she could see it was stopped, but she could not help me. She would have the manager call me. I have been waiting 3 days for that call. I checked on the app and my membership is still active, so unless I get that call, I will be paying them again soon for a membership I don't want to use. I was planning on possibly switching to Planet Fitness here where I'm living, but this has soured me on ever using them again. I am just hoping I can get this all sorted before I get charged again. I will update this review if a positive outcome occurs.

I am editing this review a month later. I contacted the social media team, as the owner requested and nobody contacted me back. I contacted the gym again a week later and they said a manager would have to contact me. I asked why they haven't cancelled my account yet and she offered to cancel it over the phone. I did that, but she told me I would still be charged for another month because it was cancelled too late. I explained that I cancelled a month earlier but they did it incorrectly and she said she will have to have a manager contact me. Nobody has contacted me. I dispute the charges to my bank, but they keep making new charges to get around that. So my experience with this planet fitness is pretty terrible and I would recommend any other gym. I have chosen crunch fitness because when I cancelled my Florida crunch membership, they did not do anything like this. So now that I'm settled elsewhere, that is where I choose to go.

This is the 2nd time I'm getting a late fee because my bank (which has the funds) is picky about the payment method and I guess PF looks like a shady business to my bank. Filthy bathroom. Toilet paper, hair and trash everywhere...in the stalls, showers, dressing rooms. The dressing rooms look like they haven't been cleaned in a while. I asked to speak with the manager, was told "they're on break". Only one person on the front desk. This review will most likely get the usual canned response, but SERIOUSLY, I shouldn't need to write this review. For the amount of money PF charges its members, CLEANLINESS of the facilities should ALWAYS be a PRIORITY. Florida Planet Fitness locations are always filthy. Love going to this location! The crowd meter is always low, never have to wait for Black Card amenities, and it’s always very clean. There is always a duo working when I go, Matt and Daphne, and man, are they on the ball. They always greet me with a friendly smile, are quick to check me in to Black Card services, and they do laps around that place to ensure its cleanliness. One mans the front and the other is constantly cleaning the locker rooms and floor, restocking machine cleaning supplies, and then they rotate. It is a well-oiled machine I had to take the time to address. It is the little things in their work ethic like picking up a small piece of trash they see or immediately noticing a spill and putting down the proper signs then mopping. They will always walk me back to the BC amenity to double-check it’s cleaned and ready for me. Daphne always has a friendly chat with me and Matt is very helpful with the new machines. Honestly, I’m closer to the Port Charlotte location and it’s much newer but these two always maintain this one so impeccably that I make the longer drive for this location. I just wanted to make sure these two are recognized for their exemplary work ethic that really shoulders the 5 star review for this location.

I went to this place to join beginning of march 2025 the young lady seems like rushing to give me information and told me that I have to enroll by myself with my phone and just seat in a corner and do it. I left because that was the reason I went to get enrolled by them,so she wasn't willing to help at all. I was in my car in parking lot and saw her leaving. I guess she was about to clock out and wanted to get rid of me, easy way. She could approach another staff person that was there chatting with her instead that take the risks to miss a client. It’s so sad when an organization cannot keep its word I cancelled my membership in person after knee surgery November 24. The paperwork clearly says zero balance and two months later I’m still being charged! Very disappointing especially when you can only cancel membership in person. Why does this franchise lack integrity?!!!

Update: Great credit to the General Manager (I will leave her name out of the post). She called me - she even left me her personal cell to return her call. She resolved the issue all very amicably. To the point that at the appropriate time I might consider re-joining this planet fitness. Her passion for good customer service and experience was obvious. I will leave it at that on an upbeat note. It is nice that the area has a GYM but it would also be nice if the bathrooms could be kept clean. The mens bathroom is filthy most of the time. I noticed bugs on the shower curtains along with mold in the showers. Why not buy new shower curtains? The toilets are usually unclean as well and the floors should at least be swept. This is a busy gym most of the times that I have been to it so I know you guys could afford to hire someone else to help with the cleaning. Please make some improvements to the cleanliness of the bathrooms.

I've had a membership to this Planet Fitness for a few years now and I must say that Angie has really changed things for the better since she took over as manager. 12/14/24 night time visit. Friendly staff. Machines were clean and in good condition for the most part. Way too drafty for me by the treadmill area. Those fans are intense.
Wanted to use the leg press but someone left six 45lb plates on the machine so I couldn't use it. Shower pressure was decent. I got a good workout in which was the main goal.

This is a great club. It is a pleasure working with the very friendly & professional staff at the club. It is a pristine facility. Very clean with well-maintained equipment. I have been a member of several gyms over the years. I have seen some gyms take several weeks to fix one piece of equipment. At Planet Fitness, I only see an "Out of Order" sign once, as it is that piece of equipment is back in working order by my next visit, like clockwork...

As a Black Card holder and 7-year member, I'm extremely disappointed with my recent experience at this location. On September 17th at 8 PM, I visited the gym and was appalled by the lack of attention from the front desk staff. They were engaged in a conversation with an unrelated individual, laughing and completely ignoring members.
While I understand the importance of having a positive work environment, I expect staff to prioritize member needs. Unfortunately, this location fell short.
Additionally, the gym's cleanliness was subpar, and the dress code policy was not enforced, despite clear signage.
As a loyal member, I typically frequent the South Sarasota location, which offers a superior experience in terms of cleanliness and staff attentiveness. However, due to its proximity, I gave this location a chance. Regrettably, I will not return.

This is a good gym. The gym is always cleaned and stocked up with paper towels and the cleaning solution to wipe down the machines after each use. I wish planet fitness would put in some actual benches and not just Smith machines but I get it. The staff here is incredible they know me by name and they are super personable. When ever I've had an issue they've immediately dealt with it with a smile. The assistant manager is very nice and she is very knowledgeable.

It's a clean one. No broken stuff in the men's bathroom like the Sarasota one which has half the showers broken and all the doors on the changing rooms missing.

I used to think that PF’s logo was just a great marketing tool until I started working out in the Venice, FL branch. The staff is always fantastic but two members stand out in particular; Isaiah & Chloe - they work overtime @ the desk to accommodate reservations for the chairs/ beds and keep the gym in immaculate condition.
While Ozempic sounds easier than doing sprints on the treadmill - I actually look forward to visiting this branch and that’s half the battle

As a paying member,why is there so many kids in the gym with no parents. I saw three girls wearing what looked like pajamas and furry Dolphin slippers,just going around making videos and not working out. If they spend 5 minutes on one machine that was too much. With their loose clothes and non gym shoes Planet Fitness is just asking for a Lawsuit. There is so many 10 to 15 year old kids taking up space,you need to start charging these kids instead of the parents just dropping them off like a daycare. If I have to pay then they should too.

This is my home Gym. With the recent changes in Management including the GM Angie Planet Fituin Venice Florida is absolutely Great. New great staff, new Equipment, Very well Maintained and clean, and the staff both managers and other employees are super friendly and attentive. I was worried for a bit to be honest but no more ! I’m there every morning for my daily workout and I am happy to recommend everyone to Planet Fitness Venice Florida one again. Thank You.

I love how there's so much to do for a relatively cheap monthly fee (I'm a black card holder). I use mainly for the hydromassages after a workout, but I love the bring a guest feature. I plan to explore this location on my next vacation & am very excited!

Making it difficult to cancel is bad for business in 2024. I’m on the road more than I am in Venice and the only way to cancel is in person or by mail? I hope the extra $27 in revenue is worth it. What does it cost you to acquire a new customer? Make it as easy to cancel as it is to sign up and I’m sure the business, when run well would benefit. Thanks for the inconvenience.

Canceling my membership due to lack of open hours. Used to be 24 hours when I signed up but closing at 10 is crazy for a Friday and Saturday night. Midnight is when most gyms close if they close early at all.
There’s more gyms in the area for the same price that are open 24/7.

Wow! I just went back into the gym after a 2 month hiatus and am so happy with the transformation- new machines, replaced cracked pads and cables, and the bathrooms are getting cleaned. The slow decline over the past several years at this gym were never enough for me to complain or go to another gym (this location is so convenient), I was just annoyed and frustrated all the time and thought about checking out the other gyms in the area again. I saw some other recent reviews talking about the new GM, I’m looking forward to personally congratulate her next time I go.

Why did the gym is awesome! It has all the equipment that you need (except for squat, racks and benches, but they have plenty of machines). Even during the busiest times, you’re still able to get all the machines that you want and people are really good about cleaning. Also, the manager Angie is absolutely amazing and really make sure that everything is tiptop.

You can only cancel in person. So ridiculous. I went in to pick up some kind of form to help my son cancel his membership. Because he moved to another state. I was told he would have to come in or they would transfer him to a location near him so he can just walk in and do it in person. Why such a hard time to candle something someone doesn't want. Why not make it easier for people just to go to any location instead of home base. What away to drag it out and collect more membership fees!!!
