The pool is the best! Down on vacation and hit it every morning!

Dirty, moldy showers, locker room...steam room reeks of musty snell. There's a bucket under the swimsuit spinner that is always full and overflowing even when it's not working. Go figure! Seriously, is there any cleaning or maintenance crew?

The outdoor pool is wonderful but doesn't feel heated. Also the after school kids are running all over in the pool area, to and from the playground, seemingly unsupervised, a huge safety concern!

Closed on Sunday and only open until 2pm on Saturday is a huge problem... and please don't upcharge me on a 24 hour sale when it doesn't include pool, the only reason I pay. I will cancel membership if changes aren't made.

Sad because it wouldn't take much to make this YMCA 💫💫💫💫

pretty mediocre gym, the customer service is also very bad they won’t help you with a thing. i paid $30 a month for my membership, and this month they took every weight machine out of the building and closed the weight room. for remodeling and i tried getting a refund and was denied so now im paying for a months access to cardio machines…

Overall, it’s a nice facility, especially for families. Hours are very limited, especially on weekends. I usually stick to the cardio equipment, but I’m disappointed that there’s only one rowing machine—and it’s not functional. The control panel is so faded that the instructions and programs are unreadable. Rowing is one of the best full-body, low-impact workouts, and right now, it’s essentially unavailable. Also, the group biking classes are often unmanned. I'm told it is self guided and virtually coached, but the room is always dark and roped off. Not sure why it's on the class schedule, if there is no class to attend.

I usually come in during early morning hours to use the weight room, but lately, it’s been uncomfortable. A group of older men often occupies the area without really using the equipment, and their conversations can be loud and involve very sensitive topics. It creates an awkward atmosphere and makes it hard to focus. I hope management can help create a more respectful environment for all members.

Unfortunately, the men's locker room does not get the basic preventative maintenance required in a public space. Shower area does not have enough soap dispensers. What few dispensers available quite often do not have soap in them for use. The SAUNA in the locker room is not operational more often than it is working. Even when it is a simple fix. The STEAM room is the same situation. The steam room currently does not work as designed. The Staff at the entry are very friendly and accommodating. Maintenance department lacks leadership in prioritizing the members basic needs, which Unfortunately leaves some members with a negative overall experience to the point of considering to drop membership. This facility has the potential to be a great asset to the community but lacks the necessary principles of department leadership.

Spent 150$ between two memberships just to try and use the gym tonight around 11pm and our cards did not work for the door. We were outside for nearly two hours trying to figure out why the scanner wasn't letting us in and when a woman left we asked her about it just to find out you have to pay an additional 15$ for 24 hour access. Absolutely ridiculous since when we signed up the man at the front desk with glasses and black hair did not mention a fee needed for 24 hour access even when my partner and I were discussing it infront of him. I don't even understand what we paid for at this point if they have you pay for a 'sign up' fee, along with the payment itself which is ridiculously expensive even for basic gym use.

Need to actually clean and maintain the place locker room is disgustingly filthy things break no repairs and there is no excuse put up a sign for some volunteers I’d be more then happy to participate in making the place decent cause that steam room is gonna start making people sick and the sauna is down it’s the only reason I have a membership it’s a lot of money to sit in filth and have gross old men stare at you while you change not a kid friendly place I wouldn’t ever let my kids near here and you close at 7 on fridays get greeted at the door we close at seven I have a full membership and you wanna be rude I’ll show up when I want and you’ll work till your shift is done it’s not like you clean up shut off the lights and leave 50x what 100 - 300 def got enough money flowing through to make it decent hire good staff maybe an over night person to actually clean

I started this membership online. I had it for 4 months and never used it so I decided to cancel. When I went into cancel they said oh you didn't make the cut off so you still have to pay your dues and I said well I've been paying you for 4 months and I've literally never stepped foot in the building until today. They said that doesn't matter I still have to pay them another $75 after I've already paid them over $300 to never even walk in the building. You cannot cancel a membership unless you go in in person but they'll gladly take your money and start the membership online. Total scam.

The Port Orange YMCA is my home away from home. The staff is always so courteous to myself and others. The training and options you have for fitness is unparalleled for the price. I can swim a 500 meter in an Olympic sized pool, play a 5-on-5 basketball game, take a spin class, have Cross Functional Training (with Maddi!), steam/sauna and lift free weights all in the same place!

This YMCA is a great fit for our family! My kids absolutely love the pool, which makes going a treat for them. I appreciate the variety of workout classes offered; they keep me motivated and help me reach my fitness goals. The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a positive atmosphere. We always look forward to our visits here. Overall, it's a fantastic place for the whole family to stay active and healthy.

Staff is wonderful. Facility fitness options are great. The only downside, besides no jacuzzi, is the middle school type of community showers. Don't they realize how embarrassing and uncomfortable it is seeing old, ugly men doing exhibitionist shows in a locker room?

Port Orange YMCA is pretty good. The exercise machines are well maintained and signs all over for wiping after use. The pool is great in warmer seasons. The staff is pretty friendly and helpful. Maybe a little more effort for showers and locker rooms. All together, I would say, keep fit at the YMCA.

The place is filthy especially the showers. There is black mold, orange mold, and yellow mold. I have made several comments about this but it always falls on deaf ears. The management will not address the issue so everything gets worse. It isn’t that hard to clean but they just don’t do it. I’ve seen the posts about similar cleanliness issues and it is obvious they will not change the behavior. What’s the point in a supposed renovation if you don’t maintain what you currently have.

The bathrooms are absolutely disgusting. It literally looks like you’re showering in a prison bathroom and I only know this because I’ve actually been to prison. Actually, the warden of the prison would make all of us scrub the bathroom if it looked this horrible. So it’s safe to say that Florida State prisons have better conditions than the YMCA in Port Orange. I don’t know if the video I uploaded worked but there’s plenty of other pictures of mold all over the bathroom, it constantly stinks, nobody scrubs, the actual walls, or the showers, or anything at all. Sometimes you’ll see the gentleman throw down some bleach and scrub the floor for a little bit but that’s about it. I’ve repeatedly and my fiancé has repeatedly went to the owners about this or at least management, and it seems that nothing is being done. At this point you guys should refund me my monthly payments instead of charging me $75.

Constantly dirty/dusty, massively outdated and ripped equipment for three years, rude blonde personal trainer that thinks she runs the place, racist and sexist comments made by gym members in front of staff members that are allowed to persist without consequence. Would quite literally recommend doing anything else for exercise than to come here.

I was in search for a new gym that my insurance covered - The Y was close to home and I love the city center so why not. I went in and walked around the workout area on a Sat. morning. I didn’t love the place, but it was free. I went in for the first time Monday and canceled Tuesday morning.
I arrived at 4:30p - the whole gym was full of young kids. Girls on workout machines taking tik toks and selfies. I’m young myself but I’m here to workout lol. I tried to go into the weight room but you can’t do anything as the kids are hanging out on the floor with backpacks everywhere. Gym smells like urine terribly in the hallway.

A dirty old Y. Hygiene is nil. Watch dozens (hundreds) of kids jump into the pool, no shower. Nobody even suggests they shower off. Terrible start to swim lessons.
Health dept. needs to check this.
Service graded D-. Entirely caters to seniors who attend free via insurance plans. Who just stand & talk during classes or block pool lap lanes.
Nursing home vibe.

VAST majority of staff are rude and selectively rude to specific people, entire weight room is gross, rust on all barbells and some dumbbells, ground doesnt get cleaned in weighroom, i kid you not next to the squat rack there was dried poop on the corner of it for about 3 -4 months which i can only assume went away because people kept stepping on it, most machines in the main area dont work good and vast majority are broken, no enforcement with putting weights away, cable machine has been broken for 2 and a half months when they said itd be fixed in two weeks, generally unsanitary place, dont get a membership here seriously

My family and I have been members for the past 7 years. That will end soon. So disappointing to see this place get run into the ground by unbelievably poor management. Constant problems with the pool causing multiple long closures over the past few years. Dilapidated and filthy facilities that are getting worse by the month. The machine workout area literally smells like urine. Absolutely, no improvements made over the past 7 years. Hours of operation that keep getting cut every year. Completely indifferent staff members. Time to find another gym.

The soccer league through the YMCA in port orange is HORRIBLE! I paid 95 dollars and have no idea on what! We have basically had no coach the entire time, we never received the socks we were supposed to get and half way through they cancelled practice! How are children supposed to learn soccer if they don’t have practice? They also don’t do team photos my daughter has been in many sports programs and this by far is the worst one she has ever been it! 0/10 do not recommend wasting your money on this program

I agree the pool should return to pre covid hours. We joined with the understanding the pool would be available 7 days per week. Covid is just an excuse to have Sundays off at the PO YMCA. You're not so interested in meeting the needs of your patrons. I remember Saturdays with not enough hours for everyone to swim. Waiting lines for lane usage. You quote your study. I question those results. Summertime is heavy usage in the pool on Saturdays and Sunday. We can all take studies and manipulate the data to acquire the outcome we desire. I'm switching to Ormond Y who have returned to Saturday and Sunday hours. Go Ormond.

Why y'all shortened y'all days and hours?? Covid gave y'all the excuse and since you refuse to give us our hours and days back

Response to reply: the pool is not included in the 24/7 ... And I'm sure your studies would have seen people used the pool both Saturday and Sunday heavily. So the 30 is not applicable to those seeking the pool. The fact y'all close at 2 on Saturday and closed completely Sunday ....

I really hope they're going to start remodeling and updating the Port Orange branch with the recent $1 million in donations. Their equipment is outdated and not maintained well enough most are broken or in horrible condition. The facilities are dirty, the bathrooms, the walls, the floors, the locker rooms, everything.
The equipment is crammed up, right next to each other. I've been a member for over 5 years here and nothing seems to change. I'd much rather drive to the Deland YMCA as that is a very nice and well maintained facility. How comes that branch is getting remodeled twice over the course of the past two years but no updates for Port Orange whatsoever? When will this YMCA realize if they want new members to sign up or to simply retain their current members things will need to change. There are many other gyms in the area to choose from.

FILTHY!!! The exercise equipment is rusty, dirty and moldy. The men's
bathroom is obscene in it's condition, the water fountain area is also
a disgrace - both having a high amount of mold present. The physical
interior walls have been left to disrepair with holes and broken plaster
going unrepaired. The gym is basically unhealthy with the high amount
of mold, and dirt being present on the equipment. There are numerous
choices for gyms - this should be your last consideration.

After cancellation of my membership they still continued to charge me. I called and spoke to the supervisor about this and she was extremely unprofessional, didn’t know what I was talking about, was not listening to what I was saying, and refused to refund my money. Needless to say I am disputing the extra charge with my bank. I have screenshots of the date my membership was cancelled and the date I was overcharged. It’s not hard to be understanding and respectful when a mistake is made but due to the unprofessionalism and lack of customer service skills of the supervisor we will never renew our family membership. I don’t write reviews often but you really shouldn’t be able to speak to people with such disrespect and lack of diplomacy when in a position of management. Honestly the initial reason we cancelled was due to the lack of quality in the summer program we tried. I felt like joining would be good for my family but I really wish we never wasted all that money this year to support a place that cares so little.

the free weight Olympic bars should have been thrown away years ago. no knurling left and the finger rings on a couple bars is completely worn down which takes over a decade. the benches are backed up into the wall making a safe spotter lift impossible also the 45s cant slide onto bottom holders because they hit the wall.
the 1 Olympic bar didnt feel 45lbs. scale in mens locker room stays in middle from 216-222lbs so it is not calibrated. I can see this being used for the pool and racquet ball.but as for free weights the bars are unsafe and need to be replaced.also Olympic bars under 45lbs should be labeled on end caps with the weight. I have over 30years exp.
if your the manager reading this and wonder why this is so dangerous here is the answer.
the finger rings on the bar help the lifter identify when their hands are bilaterally symmetrical so when you lift off weight it's not off balance.
having 2 different weight Olympic bars (excluding female olympic) that are same length but 2 different weights will throw someone off if they use the heavy bar on a different day not knowing its heavier than the other Olympic bar. there is 1 cheap chrome plated bar there, that has finger rings but no knurling. YORK or TEXAS Bars made in USA should be bought for this YMCA.im sure local powerlifters would even donate some older TEXAS/YORK brand bars.
other than that it was clean and the staff was nice. just needs more scales, and have them calibrated, quality Olympic bars and please spend the whopping $20 and get real bar clamps not those spring weight clamps which are junk.

My family and I are long-time members of the Port Orange YMCA. My son participates in youth sports, after-school, summer camp (through last week). For weeks, these were flyers posted offering care options for Virtual Learners (No minimum participant requirement or deadlines to sign-up posted anywhere).

This morning, on 1st day of school, we are told that the program is cancelled
due to lack of participants (After being provided registration paperwork). This all happened after Diana walks past the table we were sitting at filling out the registration paperwork. On the flip side, I called the facility (after I left) and the director
(Diana)states we could be put on a list, however she never offered that option in person. On a separate occasion, Diana (director), also told me that day camp hours were from 9a-4:30p (Actual hours are 7a-6p) I ask her if she is accepting students on a case by case basis.

Our family now, has to very quickly come up with another plan. This is very disappointing and a little inconsiderate, to say the least. It would have been nice to know in advance, that the program would be cancelled if there weren't at least 25 students signed up.

Children’s sports are so unorganized!!!! I’ve never been to a ymca and it’s been so hectic!!! Game times change locations change the day of the game just to be changed back to the original time.

The gym floor is always dirty kids fall left to right !!!!

I came from a big city and I swear they knew what they was doing they had so many children!!!

This Y is OK. The Pool - which is lovely - and the best thing there has a tendency to close with poor weather or repairs. The facilities for family changing are similar to a Soviet era hospital while the adult changing rooms are nice. The staff are hit and miss and front desk can get "snippy" with customers. Mostly this Y caters more for senior citizens than families.

Place is pretty nice, but real issues with the pool. The pool being the big reason I'm a member there. It was closed for a couple months over the Winter for renovations (can't say what was renovated, looks the same,)and now it's only mid April and it's closed with more issues.

The workout equipment is kind of old. Not a very clean space. The idea of wiping the equipment after you use is a good one, but you have to wait until the sanitizer liquid dries before you use it. Instead, they should have more sanitizer liquid stations in more places rather than only behind the front desk. The staff at the front desk rarely smile or say "hello," as if they did not want to be there. It's kind of rude. It's a bummer once you pay for membership and you're welcome like that.

The staff at the reception desk is quite unfriendly; no hello, no good morning, etc. They just scan they bar code as if they were not interested in being there. On occasion, they don't even utter a word. Awful welcome to a gym (or anywhere!). People working out sometimes are on their cellphones while on the treadmill. No one reminds them of the rules. The weight-lifting room is dirty, and I have seen guys bring their boombox (or version of it) and play their music with total disregard for the comfort of others. The trainers look so bored (like zombies) assisting or training members. Yesterday, there were two members talking with each other out loud near the treadmills; they were about 12 feet apart so they had to yell. No staff person came to remind them to tone it down. Something's not right with this place.

My husband and have used the Y 3 times a week for 4 years. We used to enjoy. Now we find the equipment dirty and the temperature is above what it used to making it very unpleasant to try to get a decent workout. Ask staff about the air problem they said something about global warming and just ignored us. Sadly to say we have had to join another gym where global warming as not a problem.

If I could give zero stars I would. I have been TRYING to communicate with Ginni in regards to swim classes because I called and was told to email her. She has responded to me ONCE, out of four emails I have sent her, I usually wait a week to see because I know I am not going to get a response right away but come on?! 4 emails! Every time I call, I am told I have to email her. She is NO HELP!!!!! I think I will take my money and go else where. The lack of communication is so distasteful. YOU NEED BETTER COMMUNICATION SKILLS, GINNI!!!!

It is no longer in competition price wise. It is expensive compared to local gyms and offers so much less. Very disappointing that they have not evaluated the competition, offerings of, and made adjustments.

Director needs to become more engaged.

Notice poor supervision in some areas. She tends to care less. The help would be well advised to regularly police the premises.

It's a people to people business. She likes to be in her office.

Facility has tremendous potential.

Things are improving. Director now very visible.

Honestly just fed up with this. I pay $36 a month to mainly play basketball. The children are always taking up the entire court so that just defeats the whole purpose of me going. You guys tell me “come in the mornings when the courts are free”. I’m sorry I’m in college and have classes all morning but yet you guys give no discounts for Daytona State College Students. If you want to take the kids the play soccer, do it on the SOCCER field outside right around the corner, not on a basketball court. I hate the fact that the only reliable time to come are the weekends. I don’t utilize all the things here like I said I only play basketball. It’s so ridiculous how children are the reason I can’t play yet I’m still paying full price. You guys don’t realize that people have things to do in the morning and can’t always come. On top of that, the courts aren’t even good. I have basketball shoes with excellent grip, yet I’m slipping every time I dribble the ball. There’s so much dirt on the courts it makes playing a decent pick up game impossible. Probably because all the kids coming from the playground kicking dirt all over the courts and your employees can’t clean up after them for whatever reason. I’m honestly just considering permanently canceling my membership. It’s sad when a basketball court is mostly used for other activities non related to basketball. This has been an ongoing issue and needs to be resolved.

I have never had an issue here. They have a few great exercise classes I attend, and I love swimming at the pool. I do wish there were a few more challenging classes, and adult sports leagues...but other than that, I always enjoy my workouts.

First of all, I would like to talk about the misuse of the basketball courts, many of us don't appreciate that when we go to the YMCA solely to play basketball, it is taken up by childcare, because they have to separate the boys from the girls just to "protect their innocence". I also am against the rudeness of the manager towards the children. Many of the children who go their from anywhere, are the only ones who go their out of anyone in their family. If the rudeness doesn't stop, we will cancel our costly memberships, and go to the much friendlier Port Orange Recreational Center, and that's valuable money lost. Also, when we tried to bring a guest, they wouldn't let us, because they call it a "liability" even though none of us have ever suffered a major injury. The only reason why I didn't give it a zero was because, first of all 0 stars is not an option, and secondly, the staff, other than the manager, tries their best to be friendly. One other thing before I conclude, when we tried to file a complaint while we were physically at the Y, the manager followed us, and told us to step away from the customer service desk. Since that happened, that's why I'm posting it here.

The management at this facility are awful. The gym is pretty small and over crowded most days, the pool is closed more than it is open to paying members in Florida the SUNSHINE state, the $24/month membership fee isn't worth paying for what few amenities you actually get. I tried to cancel my membership over the phone and was never instructed that they require you to physically come in to the facility to fill out a cancellation form, was then transferred to an extension for someone on vacation who claimed, when I called them back a month later after seeing they charged my account again, that she got my voice mail but could not understand my name and therefore couldn't cancel my membership or call me back to let me know about the form, and all she could do was repeat there is a form you have to come in and fill out.

It's ok but $24/month seems expensive for what they have to offer. There's only one spot for benching and about two of the rest of the machines. There's plenty of treadmills. And it seems like the place is mostly for their yoga etc. services
