In the almost 2 years of going to this gym I never wrote a review until now that I’ve moved. Eddy is probably one of the best gym owners in Tampa. The front desk customer service is super friendly and caring about all members in and outside the gym. The place itself is a hidden gem an old school body building gym with a non judgmental attitude and supportive culture among peers. I made so many friends of all ages who genuinely care about me and stay in touch. Just moved to Tampa last month and found this absolute gem. Owner is an insanely cool guy, super friendly. The interior is very old-school feeling, and for me it really gets me in the heat of the moment. It makes me feel like I'm just there to lift some heavy ass weight, which I never got that vibe from a commercial gym. My only complaint is that there aren't enough seated hamstring curls there, only lying hamstring curls!

Best gym I have ever been to. 24 hour access with very high quality old school machines. There is never a time in the day when the gym is too packed, with so many equipment, even if it is packed there is still plenty to do.

The gym is always updated on service and I’ve never seen a machine broken out of use for more than a day. Along with that, they recently had the pads on all benches replaced, even though they weren’t that worn down.

Even though this gym has a plethora of equipment, there are still old school high quality machines being bought and added to the gym. This gym has everything you need and they still add new equipment frequently.

Lastly, the cost of the gym is extremely affordable. I got a year membership for around $210 with a college student discount.

January 5 I said I wanted to end my membership. The gentleman behind the counter said one more payment and then you’re done that was January 7. I made the payment February 5 rolls around. They charge me again. The guy behind the counter says he’s not smart enough to work the computer so therefore next month I get charged again after I requested to be canceled for over two months. These people are thieves they can take your money but when it’s time to stop, they all of a sudden can’t do anything

As long as I live in Tampa, I refuse to switch gyms! Powerhouse of North Tampa is such a welcoming, family-like, community. The staff are amazing and always welcome you with a smile. If the equipment you wanted to use is taken, there are multiple other options to choose from. The yoga class is challenging and such a joy to attend. This not your stereotypical, commercial gym! I’m giving this place 5 stars because I’m a former bodybuilder from back in the 80s and 90s and I absolutely love old-school hard-core gyms like this. It’s definitely not perfect because there are some piece of equipment in need of repair, it’s a bit crowded with machines, the ceilings are very low, and there is not much of a focus on cardio equipment. However, the fact that they have more unique pieces of weight equipment in this facility than any other gym I’ve ever been to, including some machines that I’ve never seen before and some that I haven’t seen in 20+ years, more than makes up for any minor shortcomings. If I lived in the area, I would definitely join this gym.

If I could give this gym more than five stars I would. This is the only gym to go to if you are serious about your fitness and health. An old school gym with the best staff, very helpful, the best exercise equipment and many extremely qualified personal trainers. I have been a member there since the gym opened . I have been lifting at this gym for 7 years now and it is truly one of a kind gym in the Tampa area. Powerhouse on North Florida is an old school, body building gym with older but super cool and unique equipment that is not usually found in newer gyms.

Even though the gym is older and experienced lifters frequent this gem of a gym, the atmosphere is extremely friendly and people clean up after themselves.

Eddy, the owner, is one of the friendliest people I’ve met and is always looking out for his gym members. I personally drive an hour and a half every day after work to come lift here because it feels like home and the experience is worth it.

I've been here for over 3 years now...some of these reviews I've looked at need to be addressed ..the girl that said there's bugs . 1. Anywhere here in this state a bug will get in here and your home. 2. I've been doing the pest control here now for a minute...I think you need to ride along w a real exterminator to see what a infestation looks like .....I treat inside and outside...under all the sinks ...locker rooms ..entry ways ...supply closets...window and door frames...under and behind machines...I've never seen a living insect in here running around....that's a fact...
For the guy that showed anonymous about the thermostat...well this big gym runs on 4 separate units...IF YOU SEE THE PAINT AND DRY WALL THOSE THERMOSTATS ARE NEW...IF YOU WOULD BRING IT TO EDDIES ATTENTION INSTEAD OF COMING ON HERE ACTING LIKE YOURE DOING THE LORDS WORK ....it would of been remedied the next a.m. when he comes in ...or 48 hours....one thermostat wasn't tripping ...and I can assure you....this wasn't a ongoing thing ...or there wouldn't be ppl working out over 20 plus years...
There's 2 sides to events...not just one....this is a personal owned business...america wasnt built on gyms that cost 7.00 a month...and good luck talking to someone there that cares..as much as the staff here..

Great aesthetic. Terrible gym. All of the bars are gross and slipper and bent with zero knurling. The roof is a standard 8ft so OHP is impossible unless you're 3 feet tall. Overall bad gym. How ever the prices are good.

Owner is cool but the gym is way too hot. The heat is insufferable and is always set too high. A/C and fans don’t work either. This is the thermostat-79!!!!!!! It’s Always locked and can’t be changed. So add this 79-80 degree temp and 64% humidity to your intense workouts and it makes you not want to workout. Heat exhaustion is real.

Since coming to this gym, I have to say this was the best choice. I have met great workout team to push ourselves to the limit of having better health and body. I visited PowerHouse Gym at their N Florida Ave location while visiting from out of town. I was getting day passes because I needed a gym for the holidays. The owner saw this and went out of his way to give me a better deal.

The staff here is super friendly and helpful. I’ve been to many different gyms, and it can be hit or miss with the staff, so it was nice to see a staff that cares about their customers and makes sure you get taken care of as a gym patron.

The gym itself has an old-school gym vibe, like something you would see in Pumping Iron. It feels like a classic gym. Although it is retro, it is clean, and the equipment is well-maintained. There are plenty of machines, free weights, machines, squat racks, treadmills, etc.

If you are looking for a good gym or are tired of conventional gyms like Crunch Fitness, then I highly recommend PowerHouse Gym.

I’ve been a member for over 3 years and this gym is the real deal. The previous owner, Jerry, and new owner, Eddie, are both awesome! Powerhouse on N. Florida is a great place for beginners, families, and advanced fitness enthusiasts.

Cleaning protocols are performed regularly, personally witnessed. Spray bottles with cleaner and paper towels are stocked and always available for members to clean equipment after use.

If you need a personal trainer, they have independent highly experienced trainers on-site for you to work with if you need a good kick start or on-going guidance. And did I say, extremely affordable.

Other than they need to keep up on the equipment a little bit better if you're looking for a real gym to bodybuild is a great place a little bit of riffraff running around in there but other than that not bad

I love this gym! When I think of the movies like "ROCKY" they trained in gyms like this. They have pictures of champion bodybuilders all over the walls (that's how you know you're in the right place.) The owner Jerry is very professional and his staff is as well. This is not some big "chain gym" that has no personal connection to its members, mission values, or help if you need it.....they take it personal, imagine that.... Great job powerhouse!
