The Merritt Island Pro-Health & Fitness Center is a local business with attentive and knowledgeable staff, a clean environment, and a wide range of machines and classes. So why do you ask, "why did you only give them two stars".
The reason is that only two of the five water fountains on the 1st floor work properly. The two water fountains just pass the entrance on the way to the Kid Fit area have been broken since at least September. The one water fountain in the basketball gym does supply water but is not cooled and is probably warmer than room temperature. Drinking water at this temperature is probably unhealthy if one is drinking fluids to cool off. The only two functioning water fountains on the floor are over by the pool area. You would think that in a health fitness center where hydration is always emphasized that all of the water fountains would be operational......but there are not.
I have spoken with several of the staff people asking them to get them repaired but no luck there. Finally, one staff person mentioned that I should fill out a suggestion card which I did about a month ago. The result? The water fountains are still broken. It's frustrating and disappointing that an otherwise pretty well organized Health Plex would simply allow three of their five water fountains to remain broken for months on end. I don't understand.......
UPDATE: The Merritt Island Health Plex did respond to my original comment the day after I posted it and I appreciate that. When I was in the gym today, I did notice that the two water fountains down the hallway by the Kid Fit area, which had been out of order since September had been repaired. I and my fellow Health Plexers APPRECIATE IT!, especially my racquetball buddies. So progress is being made. The only water fountain that still need repair (it offers only warm water). I bumped my rating to a three star and hopefully, when the basketball gym water fountain is repair, I will move it to a full 5 STAR rating.
Thanks for exxpediting these repairs. WE APPRECIATE IT!

love it! The classes a very good, all of them and this give a flexibility on the schedule. If you need to miss a class you can get the next one because it will be good too. At Viera center I have no problem with the locker room, very clean and updated.

The Merritt Island location is a dump. The locker rooms havenβt been remodeled since the 1980s, the showers are disgusting, and the pool is constantly broken. Front of house staff is unhelpful and dismissive. This place is not worth $65 a month.

I have a membership there, but you need to set appts. constantly for childcare or you won't be able to work out. I pay 90 for myself and my daughter, so its like only paying childcare for her because she is under 12 and she can't even walk upstairs, she can't play tennis in the racquetball court. They don't allow kids to do anything besides being in the childcare. It's a gym, kids need to exercise too. Kids can only swim and only at night because during the day is usually full of old people in class too and kids can't participate in the pool. They have a plan with the Hospital and all the older people go in there and stay for a long time seated and "holding" the equipment. The only really good class group training they had, like a " crossfit", now is paid and there's only a few students. I like the Spinning classes there Tuesday's and Thursday's, the teacher is awesome, but there isn't enough bike's, and there's an older man always holding 3 bikes for his 3 older friends. And it's not enough days too, only twice a week. They should take working out seriously and not making it a nursing home. Also, people work out there in the " weights " section and badly clean their equipment, I don't see any employee cleaning equipments ever. With all kinds of people with skin desease, make sure to desinfect the equipments before you use it and after, cause most of eldery ppl. don't bother.

Love that itβs close to home. For the most part itβs always busy, which is a pro and a con. Sometimes itβs hard not to disturb someone elseβs workout because you need to get around them or use an equipment near them. I wish the gym had a real stair climber rather than the stepping machine though.

Nice fitness center but really busy and crowded. Lots of older people that were resting on the equipment between sets instead of moving. So not a good place to go get a workout in !

Clean, with lots of parking and lots of fitness options. Pro-Health is definitely my favorite fitness center out of all the other options in Brevard County. They have lots of activities and such. This one is just kind of out of the way for me.

I have been coming here for years, mostly because it is close and convenient. That said, most of the workers have a petty snotty attitude. They really take advantage of the good nature of their elderly clientele. They have very poor phone manners and follow their own rules, that they seem to make up as they gon along. Their arrogance and lack.of customer service probably stems from the health first management. I would like to see Florida hospital buy them out.

We work out here. This place is always busy but itβs like a time warp to the 80s. They need to expand and remodel. Childcare isnβt open enough. Itβs like Merritt Island is paying off the nice Viera gym.

Good facility to workout if you don't need some one overseeing your f2f orm. I've witnessed too many people doing the exercise incorrectly and no one indicated otherwise, as well as too many people lacking gym etiquette like sitting on the machines and talking or texting on the cell phone, leaving the machines all sweaty, lacking deodorant.

It has a wide variety of equipment as well as classes. Sometimes someone will camp out on a piece of equipment which can be frustrating, but usually it isn't too long of a wait to get the equipment that you want to use. I enjoy the classes and wish there was room to have more. Overall, a good place to get in a workout.

LOVE this gym! Best ever! It may seem old, but this is the cleanest gym you will ever come across. The childcare (KitFit) is amazing and has well-trained staff. Many of the staff in the childcare even teach at my son's preschool that has been around for over 50 years. There is not fighting/waiting over equipment (except maybe the first few weeks of January) and the pool/sauna/steam room are great amenities. They even offer discounted swim lessons for the kiddos if you are members.

The gym is clean and spacious, and the staff are friendly and helpful. A wide variety of classes are offered, everything from spinning to Zumba. I like this gym even better than the new Pro-Health gym in Viera. This one has bigger showers and an additional lane on the indoor track. I love the way the track is elevated so that you can look down on the first floor.

Your Yoga classes really need to offer levels for more advanced members. I feel like every class (except the Yin classes, they are perfect) are geared towards senior citizens who can't move much. My gym membership is paid for through my insurance, but it's wasted on me because I have to attend Yoga classes at local studios to get what I need. HF gym yoga classes are great for beginners, but offer nothing for more advanced practitioners.
