I was encouraged by my neurologist to start attending a boxing class for Parkinson’s patients. I was assessed by Marty a licensed physical therapist who works with individuals that have Parkinson’s disease, and she explained what PunchworX was all about. I have now attended my second session with Kelly as our instructor, and it is truly a regimen that challenges your balance and coordination. It is 60 minutes of physical impactful exercise that is centered around boxing, coordination, balance, stretching with elements of yoga. The instructors are very knowledgeable and take a personal interest for each individual attending class. I can tell this will definitely be helpful in slowing the progression of Parkinson’s and will help increase my stamina, balance, strength and flexibility. If you have been diagnosed with Parkinson’s PunchworX is a must do program!

PunchWorX is an amazing boxing organization in Lakeland Florida. Coaches help people with Parkinson’s move better, talk louder and also provide a fun, friendly environment for boxers to meet and support each other along their journey. The program keeps us motivated, improves quality of life and gives us hope.

Rock Steady Boxing has been very important to me in keeping the advance of my Parkinson's in check. It is only available to me for 6 months out of the year and, although I am involved in a longevity class the other 6 months, it is just not the same. Thank you to the instructors and the several volunteers who help us in this fight.
