About the Club

A natural wonder that presents drama and strategy on every tee. Robert Trent Jones Jr. crafted this unique and visually stunning 6,900-yard par 71 into what he calls “a true modern traditional.” Masterfully carved through the marshes and pine trees of Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, golfers can elevate their game with a myriad of exciting shot options.

Experience dramatic changes in color and texture throughout the course, such as large, undulating greens that make club selection an essential part of each round. Raven was home to the Boeing Championship—a stop on the PGA Champions Tour—in 2006 and 2007.

Great course. Fairways great, greens large and fast. Wind was howling. Starter explained all you needed to know. Had a great time.

Enjoyed our golf experience on Raven for 4th year in a row. Great people in snack bar and the starter. The cart paths are in need of repair. Some our dangerous to go over. Sand traps had not been raked for some time when we player last Monday. Over the four years, the course maintenance seems to be deteriorating. Even with above, this still a fun course to play.

So I got put back to the operator trying to book a tee time, so I went online and booked through their chat bot.. I am a fan of ai and understand this is where things are headed… it took 22 MINUTES!!!! With the chat bot, to get to a point where they called me to get a credit card to hold the reservation. This is a resort, and not a cheap resort, and I can’t have a live body do it in under 5 minutes… I’ll never go through that again. I’ll golf anywhere else if I’m forced to use Ravens chat bot…

We had a great round at this beautiful course and would love to play again! It had a good mix of wide open and narrow holes and plenty of water features and bunkers. The greens were a good speed and tee boxes and grass in good shape. Definitely recommend checking it out if you're in the area!

Great course. Fun course....not too difficult. Greens are great as well.

Updated for the current condition. Love this course, but this time the starter was rude. Tee time was 10:10 but didn’t tee off until 10:40 because of the number of people backed up at first tee box. Also the worst shape I’ve seen the course in (course is still in great shape just compared to normal it was bad). Might be time to start charging more or have someone rethink the tee sheet.

Another update. Course is an absolute dump now. Greens are pure sand and SLOW. Driving range grass that was once pure Bermuda is 98% weeds. Not sure where the $150 greens fees are going but it’s not back into the course, it was once one of the nicest courses I’ve seen. I’d dare say it’s about on par with Seascape right down the road now.

$130 for punched and sanded greens!!!!!! NO heads up about it either. Teed off at 2 and only saw the cart girl once before she said she was done. This needs to be a $70-$80 round NOT the $130 I paid!

Showed up an hour early for our tee time to get our rental clubs and hit the driving range. Waited 30 mins to find someone to get clubs, and range was closed. Rental clubs had 12 clubs vs 14, and the sand wedge was broken/rattling. Tee boxes were in poor shape on many holes. Bunkers were ponds (not draining properly). Greens had recently been aerated but we were charged full green fees. Fairways were in nice shape. Cart paths needs to be replaced. Worst of all, I left a pair of Oakley sunglasses in my cart and quickly realized it when I got to my car. I walked back and the guy cleaning the carts said he hadn’t seen my sunglasses, nor did he know where he emptied the cart. I dug through 3 trash cans myself and found my sunglasses. He offered no help.

Raven Golf Club is nicely conditioned with fast but fair greens. Fairways were tight. The scenery was lacking in memorable holes, but the 18th was definitely the most difficult. Overall, it was enjoyable and recommended.

Beautiful course and layout, I’ve found the conditioning of the course when I played this year to be as poor as I can recall (especially the greens). Tee boxes were in poor shape and needing some TLC. Has the look of a high volume course. I look forward to playing the Raven every year when visiting the area. On the pricey side.

I play "The Raven" every time I come to Santa Rosa and they still charge a premium to play, however it has continued to decline in the quality of the course. The greens need to be rolled and cut since the ball would bounce when you putted. The cups have not been moved in many days since the edge of the cups are deformed and the grass around the cup was actually dead.

The grass around the greens has not been cut in over a week and the bunkers need a full rack-over.

The T-box markers were faded and needed painted - just simple maintenance that would be noticed.if leadership would survey the course by simply driving around and checking the sime things.

Practice range only had large buckets of balls placed on the range, but you had to go and get them yourself with no means to carry to your practice location. No defined practice locations - simply just people trying to find a place to warm-up.

Bottom line is was evident they are is a cost cutting mode with no desire to be a premier place to play golf.

I provided the resource in the clubhouse this feedback and I had asked him to please share with the grounds crew and I felt it would not be done.

I considered "The Raven" as one of my favorite course in the Destin area.

Eight of us spent 4 days in Destin playing golf. We played Indian Bayou, Regatta Bay, Kelly Plantation and The Raven. The Raven was definitely the worst course that we played. The facilities were awful!!! The bag drop personnel were basically nonexistent and unfriendly/ unhelpful! The clubhouse/resturant was one of the worst I have ever seen! We paid $161 to play a golf course that was probably worth $75. I will never play this golf course again and would not recommend it to anyone else. On top of all this, it took 5 hours to play and the staff was unapologetic. There are lots of good alternatives…I would not recommend playing this course!!!!!!’

I really liked this golf course. The fairways were like carpet. The greens had been sanded like so many Southern courses do in the summer. At least they were not aerated. We looked on line and their maintenance schedule was posted. Although they were sanded, putts rolled pretty true. They were a little slow up hill and pretty quick downhill. It was just a nuisance cleaning your ball after every putt.
There was a little more room to hit it on the front. I thought the back was several shots harder. The Par 3’s were short and the Par 5’s were long. I thought it was a great layout with a little of everything.
We were well received at the bag drop, Pro Shop, and Starter. Everyone was friendly. There were several bathrooms on the course and the “cart girl” came by several times. There’s a snack bar between 9 and 10 since the course does not route back to the clubhouse.
We had a 7:40 tee time and didn’t get to hit any balls because we were told the range was closed due to it being too wet from the storm that came through earlier. It was actually open , but it hadn’t been communicated back to the Pro Shop. By the time we were told it was open, it was our tee time.
Lastly, the Pro Shop had some nice shirts but probably 50% of the sizes were XL. There were only a couple of mediums in the place. So that was a little disappointing
If I could give this 4 1/2 stars I would. The greens were really about the only thing holding us back from a 5 star playing experience. It was a good day.

Not a good experienced. We paid $180 for a Tuesday tee time. We get there and they tell us that all the snack bars and grills are closed the whole day, but that they had a cart girl supposed to be coming around with sandwiches and hot dogs. I called the clubhouse after hole 7 to ask if they could send the cart girl out to us since we hadn’t seen her yet and they told me the 1 cart girl was servicing 2 separate courses, so “she would get there when she got there”. They also had an attitude when I called because is calling the pro shop to ask if we could get some food or drinks was such an inconvenience. We end up playing 11 holes before we actually ever saw the cart girl and she didn’t have any sandwiches or hot dogs. Only crackers, peanuts, snickers, and drinks. That was the only time we saw her the whole round and she also had an attitude when we did see her. They also don’t have ANY water fountains, or jugs with water anywhere on the course for you to fill up a water bottle, so you’re dying of thirst the whole time. Not ideal when you are playing golf in Florida in the summertime. We had to wait 11 holes just to get some water from the cart girl. The starter was also rude to us after we finished our round because one of our carts stopped working on 18 and the reverse also didn’t work but I guess that was probably our fault too. We paid WAY too much money for their whole staff to be that rude and also not be able to enjoy any amenities like getting a simple hot dog or water. Will not be coming back here.

2024 Update: While it's still a great course, not sure what is going on here. THIS PLACE HAS BECOME A CIRCUS. Eight people in the tee box at one point, six on a different green, and overcrowding/lines at the short game area/range. 5+ hour round with no active on course management makes me question playing here again in the future.

Great course and staff. Even better given the price and other options in the area. The snack shack at the turn could use some better stocking, as multiple items were unavailable during our round. Must play in Destin area!

Played here last Thursday with my wife, adult son an daughter. Pulled up near bag drop with a couple of other cars. Pulled our bags and waited a few minutes. I then went in an checked in/paid. Came back out a few minutes later, still no one had come for our bags. After a few more minutes went and a couple of carts and loaded ourselves. Went on to the range, then practice green. When near our tee time, presented to the starter, who was informative an pleasant. Proceeded to 1st tee and got started. Were moving along fine for first few holes, then began waiting on each tee and following shots to each green. The waiting continued, and would get slower as the round continued. By reaching the 15th tee and waiting 10 minutes, now 4.5 hours into round, decided to leave. As we passed 16 green, we found the problem. A 5-some !!! With several shots open in front of them as we proceeded through 17 and 18.

We enjoyed our visit. The staff was very friendly. The layout was fair, but we ran into a couple of snaggles. We encountered a single in front of us who was in amongst a number of foursomes??? (who does that?) The gentleman who was paired with our foursome couldn't have been a better match. We ended up asking the single to join us as a five some only to keep pace with the foursome in front of us. The largest disappointment was all of the greens were 'top dressed' and no one mentioned it and no one was aware of it when I called the proshop. A marshall was supposed to visit us, but that never happened either. if these conditions are present, I think it should be presented at the time of the reservation or at least at the time of check in???

When I called to get a tee time they gave us 1:50pm knowing full well we could not get done by dark and I didnt think about that. I wish I could give more than 3 stars however I will share below why it doesn’t warrant more than that.

As far as the course it’s a fun setup with some challenging holes and a variety of tees for all skill levels. Now for the cons, $150 a round is steep when pace of play seems to be the least of their concerns. Granted, being in the business to pack as many rounds as possible for a resort course is what they’re in the business of. What isn’t necessary is allowing 8-somes on tee boxes along with the players assistant simply stating they volunteered for the job, still wondering what that has to do with not supporting the speeding up of pace of play. Again, for the 17 holes we did finish in 5 hours (called it with the 8-some all hanging out on the 18th tee) it’s a fun golf course but pace of play and money just isn’t worth it in my eyes.

The course has a great design and layout. I would like to play it again when the greens aren’t top dressed. That being said I was disappointed in several of the conditions. There was no notice or discount for the aerated greens. The cart we used was dirty and had leftover trash in the overhead storage area. The halfway house was closed which was fine however the restroom was disgusting, literally bags of trash in the room. For $146.00 it was a little disappointing.

Good course and pretty typical RTJ Jr design. Lots of unnatural topography to keep things interesting but plenty of native and wooded areas to maintain a natural feel. The par threes were challenging and interesting. My only complaint is that there was no real relief off the tees as the course basically plays right up to the backyards in the surrounding resort. Pace of play was somewhat slow by the time I got to the back but this can be expected on a resort course in peak season.

I want to give zero stars… had two tee times today Wednesday July 13 was told told both times that the course was closed on my one day to golf on my vacation. Drove by at 5:00 and there were people golfing, what kind of business does that?

★ 3

No water on the golf course. No restrooms on the golf course. No trash cans on the golf course. Limited service from beverage cart girls, who also don't know course etiquette and just drive up into your group while you are hitting. A five hour round of golf with no ranger or marshal monitoring it. Constant noise from houses that line the course on every hole. Sandestin is harder to navigate and get into then a prison, and traffic in Destin just famously sucks. This was not a fun experience, and I walked off the golf course completely starving after enduring a 5+ hour round of golf with no food or beverages available anywhere. Sandestin is hardly a place that is setup to offer even the basics to their guests while on the golf course.

Loved this course! The condition was literally awesome. Fairways, bunkers, rough, greens, tee boxes were all groomed so awesome. The greens were still a hair bumpy from aerating but overall such a fantastic experience.

There are 2 different options for hole 16 which is a par 3. We played the 16A option today. Some people have warned me of “resort” courses because of how much traffic they get. But this was amazing conditions and will make it a staple whenever we are in Destin area!

Half stars are not an option, but I would rate this course a 3.5.

Played June 1 and the greens were still very sandy from aerification. We played later in the afternoon and were told that the snack bar on #10/13 would be available to us-this course does not make the turn at the clubhouse. When we arrived at the snack bar at 4:31 it was locked up. The worker told us they close at 4:30. Would have been nice to have known before we started the round.
Other than the greens, the course was in decent shape. For the $89 afternoon rate it was fine, but would not be worth the $145 morning hours rate. Some tee boxes were in pretty rough shape and some fairways needed attention.
Overall it was a good afternoon, just not great communication from the staff and the course could use some TLC.

TLDR: Nice course, kept well, driving range closed, expected more value for the price.

Overall the course is nice and kept up well. However, for the price you expect an overall better experience. The driving range was closed with no prior notice. Only the chipping and putting green were open. Greens were recently aerated, and though they do show online when their aeration period is, I played after this period and the greens have definitely not recovered yet. The starter was also rude and upset that we did not pair up on carts because they were “short on carts” but he “wasn’t going to argue with us.” It was cart path only (I get they can’t control the weather), but it’s understandable to want separate carts if it’s path only. We were asked to play faster because we were 15 minutes behind pace despite not being allowed to tee off until 10 minutes after our scheduled time. The carts will randomly say cart path only and slow to a crawl even when you are on the cart path (happened over 4 times in 1 round). Just expected more from a hospitality standpoint when you’re paying nearly $150 for a round. I would say it’s probably worth the money later in the season when the greens are smoother and all facilities are open.

While at a conference at the Sandestin Golf and Beach Resort, a coworker and I decided to get up early and play before our conferences started. We looked up reviews and asked for local recommendations, and The Raven was one that was recommended. Looked at the price of a round and made the assumption that for $100+ the course would be in decent shape. Unfortunately the assumption was incorrect.

The tee boxes, fairways, and greens were all in poor shape and appeared unkempt. Many weeds were on the greens and seemed like much of the course had drainage issues (likely due to the rain the day prior, so no fault there).

The bottom line issue in my opinion was paying $200+ for the two of us to play should have had a nicer course or more of a discounted off season rate because of the shape of the course. We also were unable to use the driving range or play hole #18 due to work being done.

The off season shape of the course would be the equivalent of a municipal course in the off season, with the municipal course only costing $35 to play. I expected more from a resort that advertises for golf.

Was disappointed with the lack of transparency about course condition. Asked at booking 10 days prior if there was any scheduled course maintenance on the day we were booking July 29. Was told "No, it's starting on Aug 2nd on the greens. Asked again on check in "how's the course?" Was told, "I don't know I haven't been out there in forever." Paid $140 to play on greens that were topdressed either that morning or the day before. When you have one rould to play on vacation I wouldn't have chosen the Raven had they be honest with us. Anyway, it's to our benefit locals and visitors alike who golf, don't golf there is a certain life benefit to visiting this property. Ro be totally transparent the greens were punched about 2 weeks ago, but despite that they have and are recovering quite nicely. You can definitely tell that alot of live and attention is given to the property as a hole not just the golf course. I can't speak enough of the pro shop staff and cart barn crew, you guys run a tight ship. I want to personally thank you all for my total experience as it was my first round there look forward to experiencing this course in a month I'm sure the greens will be rolling like glass. Thanks again folks,

Raul Figueroa

The workers outside of the place were very nice when I asked which way to the pro shop and driving range. Once i got inside of the place the older gentlemen who was working the counter was a different story. I said hello hows it going today, no response from him and i even told this gentlemen that you have a nice place here, nothing from him. Im just here for the driving range, paid my fee to practice. As i was leaving once again I said thanks for helping me out...nothing. The date and time was 5-24-2021 close to 3:30.

Rudest starter I have ever dealt with! As we were new to the course, we accidentally went to the wrong course on the other side of the clubhouse. When we got to the correct place, a elderly woman came riding up and treated us so rudely and then pointed to the path with nothing else said. We ended up still going to the wrong place and she gave us the same treatment when we came back for guidance. When I mentioned this to the cart person at the end of the round, he knew exactly who she was and said "A lot of people complain about her" She needs to NOT work with the public. On a positive note, the course was nice and well maintained.

I was looking forward to play this course three days ago. There were both positives and negatives. It was definitely a beautiful course and challenging for sure.

Practice range definitely needs some work.

We were behind two slow groups on the front nine that had everyone backed up and waiting in between every shot. The tough thing was it was a twosome that was holding three groups up. This is definitely not a beginners course.

We thought it would get better on the back nine because the groups did not play through. Nope, another slow foursome that had us waiting between shots. They left midway and we thought there was some hope of finishing this course before dark at this point. But we had to wait for another group on 16a. We are not even sure where they came from.

Since there was a hole on the front nine that had some work being done and it was closed, they wanted us to play 16a and 16b to make up for it. (We hit two balls each on 8 to make up for the closed hole since there was no make-up instructions on the closed hole so we only played 16a)The problem is one in our group misjudged the distance on 16a and hit into the group teeing off on 16b right behind the green.

It was like people were doing shot gun starts on the back nine the way they just appeared and disappeared from the course.

If the course had not been so nice I would have given the experience a 1 star.

Got a chance to play Raven and it did not disappoint. I've now played 3/4 (haven't made it to Burnt Pine yet) and Raven is the best one yet. I still really like Links due to the number of holes on the bay but Raven was in great shape. Greens were aerated but thats what you get when you play here mid/late August. Nice staff and a great range.
