SAD to report that Retro has gone downhill fast these last few months! I have been an ultimate member for 1.5 years. At first the gym was great. Many trainers(5) & front desk personnel to answer questions. Now NO Trainers come in unless they have scheduled clients, Retro doesn’t want to pay hourly for them to be there. As far as I know there is only 1 trainer left. All front desk people quit & all trainers quit. DM a fantastic trainer got in trouble for teaching a class (gym floor) on Sunday, to show people how to properly use weights & machines. 💪🏼 10 or more people came every time. Retro didn’t like that, they wanted him to book personal trainings only cause of the money. So he quit too. The classes are great & are taught by a few different teachers, if they need time off there are no substitutes. The last straw is the awesome janitor quit as well, he was really nice and professional, even though he didn’t have the right supplies to clean with. This gym is no longer clean! The floor beneath the machines in the front was supposed to be redone…..didn’t happen. So it’s buckled up in places. Which is a hazzard!⚠️ No toilet paper or paper towels in the Ladies locker room, huge problem! No paper towels on the gym floor either. That obviously says something about the company! They either don’t treat employees well or they don’t pay good. Crazy cause they taking my money every month! Bad job Retro! 🫵🏼 There is a gym every quarter of a mile in Florida. Will be looking for a new one, even though I love the members! Sad! Management doesn’t care about the members. 👎 I will add photos soon!

The new gym Manager was fired because she didn’t sell enough memberships monthly & didn’t upsell training packages. Gym just hired 2-3 new trainers after she was let go, a month ago. Now another new manager is there, wish him luck cause he will need it. Gym took away the trampoline class. Ashley still teaches great classes & she is the only reason I still go!! NO NEW EQUIPMENT! NO REPLACED old equipment. Gym floor, up front HASN’T been replaced as promised. Why? Safety not an issue here? Last Straw……………..Retro Fitness (ABC Fitness) uses a call center located in the Philippines. That is why customer service sucks & problems cannot be fixed promptly. That is why people have trouble when canceling memberships, with billing period. Just cancel card or tell bank card was lost. Easiest way for billing to STOP immediately! I tried to wait out the problems! GUESS WHAT? NOTHING CHANGED!!!!! 🤯 Now looking for a new gym to attend!

Unfortunately Retro is not the same as it was when it was first opened before going corporate. I cancelled my membership and then suddenly a few months later an ABC Services started reaching out to me saying that my credit card had expired. Not the case at all I still have the same credit card I always had I just cancelled the membership. I thought at first this was a scam, and they were trying to gain access to my credit card info because I didn’t know anything of an ABC services. I later found out that ABC is their billing and collection company that continue to call and email you daily harassing you after you cancel your membership. Stay away from them as once going corporate and not independently owned things go down hill very fast.

After cancelling my membership in person with paperwork signed to back it up, I was still being billed 2 months out. The so called manager “resent” my paperwork to corporate to actually cancel my membership. Update...Still being charged. I put a stop on payments with my credit card company so now the gym is calling me telling me I'm past due on monthly charges and need to come in the gym immediately to pay even though I cancelled my membership and have cancellation paperwork to prove all debts were paid and I owe nothing. Frauds! Avoid this gym! All they want is your money. Looking at other reviews, I'm not the only one with this issue.

For the last few months, the quality has decreased here. The bathrooms have a broken shower for the longest, a broken mirror that was never repaired. It was a weight on the bathroom that was damaged, and they never replaced it. Some machines have been damaged but nobody takes care of themto replace things. A few months before, everything was pristine, now is like it is crumbling and soonest cares. I hope someone looks after this gym in a better way because I used to love this place. So sad

first time using red light therapy and tanning bed there, the lights in each booth shut off after a minute but the time kept going on machine but no red light or tanning light stayed on. Not sure if the booths are broken but not a great experience.

My son joined this gym during the summer. He went a few times and decided he no longer wanted to go because he is disabled and it is difficult for him to get there. In addition, when he initially signed up he was told one thing about the billing and the when he was charged differently he questioned it and was told different stories. He cancelled and was then charged additional charges. Besides calling the billing department and no one picking up, I went in twice. The first time I was told he would get credit in 10 business days which didn’t happen. I went in again and was told to give it 15 business days. It’s been a month so I called again this morning and my request was sent to the manager. I have to admit the staff is very nice and say they will solve the problem but in the end it doesn’t get done.

When I purchased three months' worth of strength training sessions it was verbally agreed to be with a specific trainer. Later, he quit and, because the training session documentation said otherwise, I'm not being allowed a refund. I understand the written contract legally overrides the verbal agreement, but I won't use a service provider that won't honor a verbal agreement. I will use up the prepaid sessions and then cancel my membership. Don't believe anything they say if it isn't in writing because their word is not their bond.

How lucky to have had Dwight Mac D. for these last 6 months. He has all the advanced qualities of a leader. Visionary with global but also detailed vision. Patience, very good listener. I have been a member of Retro Fitness Wellington since it opened almost two years ago. I will say the staff is very friendly and the gym is clean. Lisa (AM) and Dwight go out of their way to make members feel welcome and address any questions you would have. Unfortunately the gym doesn’t have the latest type of machines for lower body workouts. Their hip thrust machine only works for super tall people. We have asked management for an additional smith machine, however corporate cares more about numbers coming in v. making members happy with additional equipment. There is only one smith machine, leg extension, and lying hamstring curl machine for the whole gym. There are a ton of chest benches that don’t get used and seem like space is wasted. It’s a shame because there is greater potential for it to be an amazing gym all around if corporate would actually listens to its members requests.

Not the same Retro Fitness that I signed up and reconnected to so many friends. Raised my monthly dues and had been charging me more than I agreed to. Don’t be late on your dues or the staff will come track you down mid work out asking you to come to the front desk to straighten it out. Wants your checking acct into (aba routing and account number) so badly, leaving member without protections like when you use a credit card or debit card. If it wasn’t for fact, it’s so close to where I live I would leave in a heartbeat.
We’re asking Management information on how to contact corporate and ups, not cooperative at all. Just not the same gym I signed up originally. Such a shame.

Today is now march 9th. i am still being harassed from past due payments when i clearly cancelled it. i have called these useless people multiple times regarding that my account has been canceled. then these people started to state that i walked in there at Nov 2023 and signed a document for them to steal money from me (keep in mind i havent stepped foot in there since i canceled in july) this is fraudulent behavior. i will be printing every transaction these people have charged me since after canceled and i will be taking this into legal matters

I was a member of this gym from opening day and loved it. It was a small, nice and friendly neighborhood gym. Everyone seemed to respect each other and seemed to care about the place. After approximately one year, there was a change in ownership. Now, it is run by a big corporation where profit is their main motive. During a conversation I had with the CFO, he inferred that he did not care for members who took advantage of the $9.99 /month preopening special. I was also informed that rules will be ignored if it brings new members (this includes taking pics in the locker room). I told him I was one of those undesirables. After my workout, I was discussing this with the GM when a young gentleman who would only identify himself by his first name(I asked for his last name and position), came out from the back and told me my membership was being revoked and that he didn't like my personality. Actually, this was a blessing in disguise, because I learned the truth. I am sure that you're no different than me, and wouldn't want to be a member of a gym that didn't want you. There are way too many gyms around this area that would treat you with dignity and respect. No one needs to be treated and hurt the way I was.

Customer service has been terrible despite maybe like two people who have me informed and without an attitude. Place is nice and convenient but the customer service from Carline is terrible. She doesn’t care about anything or anyone but numbers. I have caught her numerous times speaking to her staff very rudely and the clients as well. She has no flexibility or savvy on how to speak to anyone. It’s a shame cause she will be the reason why people stop showing up and cancel memberships. I cancelled mine as per the policy and still got charged my monthly fee and a surcharge in which I was not supposed to be charged due to following the guidelines. I spoke with staff who informed me of the policy but a GM and Carline both were very rude. Promised a call back but nothing as of yet. It’s been a week since the initial phone call as to why I’m being charged and yet no call back on any sort of resolution. I would not recommend anyone here just for customer service issues. Plus staff look miserable there, she speaks to them like slaves. No respect for her staff let alone the clients.

If I could give 0 stars I would this company will rob you of your money. I had a huge issue going into cancel my membership as the staff confirmed it was cancelled. Afterwords 2 months later they randomly billed me a 40$ fee stealing money from me. After blocking them directly they waited another 4 months to contact me and try and threaten me. There goal was to convince me to give them money after I didn’t go to the gym for almost a year. I then tried to set up a meeting with them and the representatives of the gym could not confirm a time in which they would be available and just told me to come into the gym again. Afterwards they sent a payment that they charged to a collection agency to attack my credit be aware of the snakes that own this company . 01/09/2024 Update

Okay so I had someone call me from Retro Fitness (will remain nameless) on January 2nd to tell me how sorry they are that I was put through this and that they were having similar issues with many other members. This person assured me that the new manager was going to contact me the on January 3rd to make this right........I'm still waiting. .......I also got a lame post response from Retro fitness 3 days ago

This is truly ridiculous.

The manager, Ed should be ashamed of himself. Almost a year ago, I cancelled my membership as I lost everything during covid and could barely afford groceries. He said he felt bad and of course would cancel it. Well, of course he didn't and charged me over a thousand dollars for training that I did not use. When I tried to reach Ed to let him know that there was a mistake, I couldn't. I talked to another member of management (which I could name but is a good dude that I don't want to get any kind of backlash from this review) that said he went back to Ed to see what was the issue. He informed me that Ed said it was a mistake and to dispute the charge and that he wouldn't fight it...Well, yesterday, the day after Christmas, that I barely made work for my kids, I received a "Revoke" notice from my bank that after a long investigation that Retro refused my claim. So my bank had no choice but to give the money back to Retro the day after Christmas.

I just want to give a little more details just to drive the point home. I called tin late March to cancel and I was told, "okay no problem". but then I got a monthly maintenance fees. So then I was told to write a letter which I immediately did in late April . Conveniently, My member ship renewed in early April so now they are using that I cancelled after the membership due date... I do take responsibility for believing people in what they say instead of going back to the contract to see the language for canceling. I just believed Ed and for that, I am paying the price.

Side note: I spoke to a former member or the club management that was informed by Ed in private he had no intention of refunding the money as he was financially having a difficult time with the club. I've found out that the club allegedly has gone back to corporate ownership...

And I agree with Kayla S. in the review section. They make it almost impossible to cancel. I was told by my trainer to go to management only to tell me months after the fact that they break membership cancelation canceling into two departments which are Training and Memberships and really blur the line as to where to go.

So shame on you Ed an Retro fitness for caring about the almighty dollar and not their customers.

I entered my West Palm Beach Retro Fitness club in person in early July 2023 to cancel my membership which the staff said they did. Then the club was bought out and I am told by the new owners that my membership was never canceled, but that it was frozen, and they billed my CC in December - after four months of no billing, which to me confirmed my membership was indeed canceled because I was not charged any monthly freeze fees as many clubs do charge.

When I called the Retro Fitness corporate offices, the snitty girl on the phone insisted that I had to call the club and deal with them directly. Calling the club, the staff there insisted that I had no proof that I ever cancelled.

In both corporate and at the club, the people on the phone were defensive and refused to accept that I had ever canceled and would not correct the wrongful December billing.

Ironically, instead of acting in good faith of customer service, The manager at the club said they would not help me because I did not have proof I canceled in July.

I told the female manager that I was going to leave them a bad review since I am out a month's membership dues and did not live in the area.

She claimed I was punishing them for something the old owner did and this was not their fault.

My response was that since her company bought the business they also bought the problems and mistakes the old owner made.

Since that conversation I have not heard from her and my money has not been refunded, so I feel I am the one being punished.

Beware members who are thinking of quitting because this could happen to you and the new owners will hold you responsible.

But in recent wks there is definitely a noticeable change. The restrooms & showers have not been cleaned. Where is the cleaning lady (Rosa) who was always a pleasure to see and kept the restrooms spotless? There is still no cold water in the woman's large shower. The hot water is hot and the cold water is hotter.
And, please tell me why the water fountains have not been repaired in MONTHS? Really? How does a gym not be pro-active with getting something as essential as a water fountain fixed immediately? (I hope the AED's are charged.)

In any gym, personnel should be constantly replacing paper towels, cleaning spray, straightening up the gym during business hours, and most of all getting to know your members, it doesn't take much to smile & say a friendly hello/good morning, or, have a great day!

Clean gym. BUT you won't catch a sweat here anytime in the morning. A/C is freezing cold all the time and the fans are full blast so you'll stay away from main areas you probably want to use. I have videos of the paper towels blowing its so cold and windy.
The staff AND members are all in long sleeves or hoodies.

He was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, and made sure that all my questions were answered. The gym itself is spotless and well-maintained, with a great selection of machines and equipment. My favorite part of the experience was definitely the red light therapy, which provided a rejuvenating and relaxing session every time. Nice facilities however for the amount of traffic this place gets its not big enough for a good workout. Tried going at different times, 5am, 7am and even 9pm. It's jam packed regardless of the time. Shame since the gym itself is nice.

Very comfortable setting for all ages. Good mix of ages and diversity. Love my personal coach Darian. Very dependable, structured and knows his stuff. Always thinking about your safety and explains why and how each movement affects a person ‘s muscles and activities that they are able to do. He will go at whichever place is comfortable for you. He will provide you a nutritional plan and activities to do outside of training so you meet your goals. You will see results if you follow his instructions. I am glad I took that step.

Retro offers classes but I have had not been able to take advantage of those yet. Protein shakes that they prepare on site are delicious and filling. They have a tanning station, massage chair station, and red therapy station that I have not used yet but they are available. Usually not too crowded. 1 hour in the evening May get some more people than other times but usually you can find equipment or a machine to use.

Definitely recommend that you try it out.

Once you join you are able ti always bring a guest for free. Reasonable membership price.

What an amazing Retro Fitness Silver Sneakers class with Imani as the instructor! When I began the class six months ago I was still undergoing physical therapy after a serious accident which shattered my arm and leg. I had no idea what a difference her class would make for strengthening my body and totally improving my all around fitness. Imani truly cares about each student in her class. She watches to make sure everyone does the various moves correctly. She has a caring and patient manner and varies her program every day, making it challenging and fun! I would highly recommend the class.

Retro Fitness Wellington has to be one of the cleanest, well-managed and maintained gyms I've ever been to. The equipment is all like new and has been carefully chosen to allow a thorough workout in pretty much any arena. It's kind of surprising the wide range they provide for a smaller gym. All the staff are super friendly, supportive and customer service oriented, including the owner Ed. If you are a woman and want to work out in a clean, quieter, safer-feeling space than the giant big box cattle gyms, this is the place for you. They have two relaxing massage chairs and a red light therapy booth for after you kill yourself in your workout. I don't think you could ask for a better gym. Well done Retro.

I really love Retro Fitness! Every time I go there I find a place clean and well organized with the right set up for me to work out. If I have any questions or if I need help with an equipment, Ed and John are always glad to help. They even give you tips so you can make the most of the movement. Yesterday, I had a one on one meeting with Orville to go over my physical needs and goals. Even though is something Retro Fitness offer for free once a month, I received a lot of good information and suggestions on how to improve. I’ve been a member at Retro Fitness since 2014. I was visiting family in Florida for the holidays and discovered this is Jim newly opened from last holiday season.

I’ve been going to gyms for well over 30 years. This is definitely one of the most impressive gyms I’ve ever been to. When you first walk in the first thing you see and smell is clean. There is an open area when you walk in the door with the seating for people to enjoy after work out shakes or snacks. The reception desk is directly in front of you and the greeting staff is incredibly pleasant.

As was stated by others, the equipment is all new. The gym is also really well set up. The cardio deck is above the studio room and the locker room/bathrooms. The isles are very wide, allowing people to comfortably pass, and the equipment is organized in an intuitive way.

There are so many signs pointing to this being incredibly run facility. From the aforementioned cleanliness, to the friendly staff, and the trainers, who, hour after hour, never lose energy, and have a great rapport with the clients they are helping, to the fact that all the weights, including dumbbells, are put back in the proper place, this is a top-notch facility.

It’s been a pleasure working out here, and I look forward to my next trip to Florida to visit again.

Went into the new RETRO FITNESS, recently opened . Very reasonably priced , well laid out Gym . Really have it all -free weights , modern machines, classes of several types ( spin, yoga flexibility etc, ) and brand new very modern Cardio machines .
Love the layout and not crazy busy and no extreme loud music, like the Crunch Fitnesses in the area .
