Im a current member it is far to warm in this gym to be working out at any intensity to perform well. Should be at 69 or lower.

Awful! They go through a payment agency that will continue to charge you after you cancel! There is no way to cancel your membership.
Phone lines are dead and the gym doesnβt know how to cancel either.
Avoid this place like the plague.

Fantastic deal if you pay for full year membership; less than $20/month for 24hour access, all classes, hydro massage table and tanning bed. Plenty of personal trainers available and staff is always friendly and happy to help. Great facility for all ages

π Nice people but inflexible when it comes to contract structure and life events. I paid a full year in advance, I know I shouldn't expect a full refund since the contract said no refunds after 3 days, but I've only been a member for a month before learning that I'll need to relocate out of the area. Just a heads up if you feel like committing to a year could save in the long run, for me, I totally lost out on everything.

I understand Covid has changed businesses but when it is time to be at work then be at work. When staff hours and especially manager is supposed to be there at 1000 then get there at 1030 and note saying 1100 then 1115 not here yet. Very unprofessional.
Update: Joined this gym through insurance. It is a nightmare dealing with account draft company. If you can go a route other than automatic withdrawal do it. Not a bad gym, equipment is in good condition, most people cordial and will let you work in. Tanning is free but once again have to have staff there to run it and no staff. Need to have it set up to fob and use like anytime fitness.
Update 2024: Talk to owner and she can explain how to tan in off hours. Wish it had more power racks but like the Sith only come in pairs.

The website says it has hydromassage, false. The website says it has women workout area, false. There are more treadmills out of order than working. Some of the equipment is rather antiquated, and no one is there to ask for instructions on how to use some of the equipment, or to spot you if needed. The woman's locker room is very limited and lacks space and the lockers location is poorly chosen as it is directly across from the door, so if you are changing buy your locker, everyone in the gym, male and female can see you if the door is opened up for someone to pass through.

I'm am beyond fed up at this point.
Been a member for about 4 years. Since renewal this last year, the water massage table is broke more than it works. Every couple of months my fob quits working and it rakes me a month or so to get it fixed as I go earlier in the morning and I end up having to take time out of my day 2-3 different times to go by and get it fixed.
Prior to this last year I had no issues and things were taken care if. Seems the bean counters don't want to spend money to fix things like massage table and the fob system.
At this point I'm not wasting my time going up there and will start looking for a new gym that doesn't have a rigged up fib system and actually fixes thing when the break.

Iβve been a member for a year and I absolutely love Pace Riviera. They have free classes like spin and Zumba, they have updated a bunch of equipment since Iβve been there, and most importantly they keep excellent people on staff. This is the kind of place where the staff knows your name, greets you with a smile, and works hard to keep a clean gym. The owners are in there all the time and they are super friendly also. This is the best gym around by far

When I was looking for a gym I contacted them and immediately Miss Jennifer calls me back and we have a meeting . I find this gym my home everybody made me feel comfortable I thought I'd feel awkward. I would like to thank Miss Jennifer from the bottom of my heart for everything she has done for me. I will definitely continue to be a member. Everyone is always so happy and helpful. This is definitely the place to come if you want to work out and feel like you belong.

Impossible to cancel membership!!! They continue to auto draft out of my account and are no help in correcting the problem. You have to go through a third party to cancel and when that doesn't work they are unwilling to help get it resolved! We are still dealing with this after 3 months of our initial trying to cancel! DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY WITH YOUR BANK INFORMATION!!! It will be a huge mistake!!!

Good facility. Bad communication, phone number comes back as disconnected. And the person covering during open hours say id have to come back during other hours to get paperwork I need from them.
Not sure why I pay dues when half the folks in their at night don't. Doors are very rarely actually secured or even able to be secured.
Their billing company is garbage.
Tack on the place is basically a daycare for teens to hangout and act like jackoffs at after staff leaves.

I am trying to cancel Payment because of moving and am currently in the process. There is 2 ways of getting a membership. Month to Month or one Year increments. I was only going to be at the gym for a month, so chose the Month to month and was informed of a $25 cancelation fee(Wich is a little absurd for a cancelation fee) But when I called to cancel I was informed of a 1 month written notice that must be given to the Paramount Billing Compmay in order to cancel your membership. I was never told and am now forced to pay another month of gym fees. More reviews have told of very similar stories in which account was never caned

Horrible customer service! I received military orders and tried to cancel my wife and my account due to relocating. It took months to get my membership cancelled and my wife's has yet to be cancelled. They won't answer my calls or my emails and continue to auto draft a payment each month. I have been scammed out of hundreds of dollars in gym membership fees even though I live 1200mi away due to military relocation.

A fantastic little fitness first type of gym. Everything you could want from a gym, from a soft plate area for Olympic styled lifts, to a multitude of treadmills, bikes, ellipticals, stairmasters and Jacob's ladders for a variety of cardio. Every muscle group has multiple areas and machines to cover a wide variety of different sets and reps to spice things up. There's even a punching bag, should you choose to buy a nice set of gloves or wrap your hands and work on your self defense capabilities. They also offer free classes, such as yoga and spin class, included with membership, though I have yet to try any so I cannot speak on them. Prices are more than fair, and open 24/7 for your convenience. Now, for my only negative, and the reason I deducted a star. I wish I could call it a hidden gem, yet sadly, my only complaint is the abundance of patrons that frequent the place. Even at odd hours, like 9pm, the place is fairly packed, causing occasional lines to build up in high traffic areas such as the Olympic lift area or the treadmills. Due to limited space, it would be quite difficult to abate this issue, forcing you to either choose another workout to compensate for time or wait, and let your heart rate go down and your fatigue to begin to set in. Despite this, I still highly recomend this location to anyone interested in any avenue of fitness.

Do not get a month to month with Riviera it's a gimmick and they will trick you. They will take it automatically out of your bank account the next month with out your permission and require a written cancellation from you before they stop.

The gym and fine and dandy. No issue with the gym itself. It's a little small, but it does just fine.
My issue is with the billing company they use, Paramount Acceptance. This company is a nightmare to deal with. Recently I changed banks and needed to swap over my bank account info and pay them and what not. It was such a nightmare just to pay them and get things set up I just decided to cancel my entire membership. Thats when things got even worse. I can't even cancel my membership with them without sending in a written notice. Which...I have to wait to do that until my account is set up and paid last month for. Then I can submit written request to cancel. Then I can call back and actually officially cancel the membership...after paying for another month AND a $25 cancellation fee.
I will not ever use another business that uses paramount acceptance for billing processes. Its a nightmare.

Zero Stars actually. Joined under the assumption that we could cancel anytime with a 30 day notice. Was directed to call an 800 number by staff to cancel. 800 number would leave me on hold forever. Paramount Acceptance is whom we were directed to call. Every time I would call and say I wanted to cancel I was put on hold. I was never able to cancel. They kept billing until I closed my debit card. Now I received a letter from them saying if I pay half of my outstanding bill they would reinstate my membership. Looked at my credit report and they have me owing them over $300.00 It's a freaking Gym membership, not a car loan or Apt Rental. No contract means just that. We have contacted an attorney and are demanding the credit report be restored and demanding the return of around $60 they illegally deducted from our account.

Had to close my checking account to get rid of them. Closed my account multiple times, which was emails upon emails to Paramount Acceptance, and they didn't get back to me until they couldn't draft my account any more, then they wanted more money to close the account. Never join this gym or you will never get rid of them.

Lure you in with an affordable rate. Try and cancel and they will charge you with a "cancellation fee" and Bill your last month. Didn't realize it would COST me over $50 to not go their gym.
Gym is average. Supplement sellers trying to make a living off you. Very dissatisfied.

Its a good gym as far as room to move and equipment.. I don't care for the management. Or the wierdo personal trainers who act a bit cocky..then there is the unbearable sunlight that ruins the first row of machines during the morning hours. . I was told some people like it...sun in their eyes ? I doubt that. Plenty of money for new fancy massage and tanning machines but can't block the sun? Pfft

Horrible customer service. Their employee makes a mistake and they don't fix it. They say it's out of their hands when their 1-800 number says it's in their hands. They try to pull one over on people. Cheap and dirty business some of their machines were always broken and their machines weren't that good or in good state. Sadly disappointed expecially with people saying that they were good.

Great place if you're genuinely interested in actually lifting weights and getting a good workout. I can think of other gyms to join if you just want a fancy social club. I have never experienced rudeness from any of the staff, and in fact have experienced them going above and beyond for the comfort of their members. They have very knowledgable CPTs, and every conversation you have with Bear will teach you something about training. He hasn't been shy about correcting my form on various occasions, in a kind way, which I appreciate. I have been a member of several large nationwide gyms, and the only thing they offered that Riviera doesn't is a little more space and an outlandish monthly membership fee. Riviera has a laid back, no frills, easy going atmosphere and all the necessary equipment for training.

I'm writing this mainly because of the negatives reviews. First of all, Riviera has everything you need to get in a good workout. For $15 dollars a month, membership is an exceptional deal. If you want a bunch of fancy equipment that is more about looks than exercise, then you can go to another gym and pay high prices. Second, I've never had a problem with the gym staff and I've been a member for over a year and exercise 3-5 times a week. "Bear" is one of the most awesome people I have ever met. If you want a personal trainer, you can't go wrong with him. He isn't in it for the money, he is truly passionate about what he does and really cares about his clients. So, if you want to go to a gym and get in a good workout, this is a good place. If you want to go to a gym to be pampered, go somewhere else where the goal is to make money. They'll will be glad to take your money and make you feel good without actually helping you improve.

The staff is ok, it is the management that is the problem. They tend to fire or drive away any good instructors that they have. Started off with three classes a week for pump / cardio / body sculpting, then they fired the instructor classes went down to 2 times a week then 1 time a week. I quit going because the new instructor was just not motivating at all. Also a lot of their equipment tends to break down, and not enough equipment to go around for all the classes.

I was a member for about 16 months. The staff, generally, is there only to get you to sign a contract. Bear is very friendly and helpful. I found him to be the one exception. The equipment was very often out of order. There are a few groups of body builders who come and monopolize the equipment. The staff is of no help in asking them to rerack their weights, etc. I have been a member of several gyms in several different areas. This was definitely the worst gym ever. I will not join there again. I am taking my business elsewhere,

After seeing the negative reviews I feel compelled to post what has been a very positive, almost perfect review for the Pace Riviera. I've been a member here for almost a year as has my 15 year old son. First, I feel like I've gotten a great value with the membership at less than $30/mo for 1 year then the following six months are completely free. Next, the staff has always been extremely friendly and has always been able to answer any questions that I had. I took advantage of purchasing Personal Training sessions and was extremely satisfied with the professionalism of the CPT and the results that I've gained due to his guidance and motivation. Finally, there have been times when a few of the treadmills were out of service but there were always other treadmills available. I have taken advantage of several of the group classes offered and was always satisfied with the leadership and quality of the instructors. One of the Personal Trainers (Bear) I would like to give a big thanks to. He's helped my son immensely with personal guidance in weight lifting and nutrition. With that being said, I believe that success is based on taking personal responsibility for desired outcome and not blaming others for failure. I also believe in positive feedback when due, so thank you Bear, Lori, Steve and everyone else that I don't know by name that helps make Riviera a positive experience.

My husband and I joined this gym a few weeks ago at the Pace location and we have had the worst possible experience there. I have never seen such unprofessinalism and lack of regard for customers in my life. My husband and I had free fitness evaluations on Thursday and Friday. When he went for his on Thursday he inquired about their Personal Trainer program and Lori, the Director walked him through the paperwork but they verbally agreed to wait and discuss it with me on Friday when I went for my appt and that if I was on board, we would discuss completing the contracts and discuss possible payment dates. But they processed the contracts immediately anyway and took the money that very day without our knowledge or authorization. When I went in on Friday for my health assessment I asked her to cancel the contracts. She "talked me out of it" and convinced me to think about it, but I ended up calling an hour later and telling her we were not comfortable with the expenditure at that time and preferred to wait. She made an appt with me on Monday that she did not keep, nor did she tell me she was cancelling the appt because that was when we were supposed to discuss things. She subsequently refused to return any of my phone calls and seemed excessively reluctant to cancel the contracts even after multiple requests to do so. She told my husband that he should just give it some thought since the next payment would not come out until September anyway (and this was on July 13). Well finally we were so upset we threatened to cancel our memberships there if she continued to try to force us into keeping this PT contract! So TODAY my husband went in and finally caught up with her and she said she would submit the cancellation. Well TODAY they withdrew another $161.17 from our account without our authorization, and it was only 2 weeks after the 1st payment. They not only took two in one month, neither without our knowledge or agreement, but she TOLD US that the next payment would not be until September so this should not have happened regardless. I feel bullied and pressured into getting a personal trainer, I feel that they are taking liberties with our bank account information when we do not authorize it, the director does not return phone calls or messages, we are getting the run around about getting the money they unlawfully deducted from our bank account returned to us, and it seems the standard answer to every question we have asked is "I don't know." Jennifer that works at the front is the only person we have dealt with that seems to know what she is doing or be concerned with our experience there at all. I want my money back and I want to cancel our memberships, but we have to pay $100 each to cancel the memberships even though we have only been there a few weeks? WHAT trial membership?!?!? Do not waste your time here. We went with them because they were the most affordable gym in the area, but beware because clearly you get what you pay for at this place. It is far more worth it to pay the extra money for a gym that will not take money from your account whenever they want and who will actually return calls and not shove services down your throat.

Machines are always broken and stay that way for quite sometime before any action is taken. If you make an appointment to speak with an employee they either never show or cancel on you numerous times. Employees are very rude, talk openly about personal issues for all to hear, and a disgusting display of a male and female employ groping on each other while working is appalling! Skip this gym even for its low rates pay the extra money for a gym that has reliable employees, equipment that works, and better managers!
