Iβve been climbing for about a year now at the university of south Alabama and going to north Alabama for outdoor bouldering. I used to like outdoor bouldering more than indoor but after climbing here my mind has changed! This gym is amazing! The grading is pretty accurate I feel, maybe just a hair soft compared to outside grades. The gym is constantly setting and itβs never boring. I would recommend gym this to anyone I know.

Great bouldering gym! Grading is standard not sandbagged or too light. Staff are super friendly and professional. The mats are really nice. The whole facility is clean and well maintained. Would recommend

This gym is authentic and the setting is creative and hard as hell, definitely a more outdoor style. A V4 in this gym is about as hard as a V6 in my home gym. But maybe that's because the walls here are smooth and smearing is difficult. You can tell that the setters take pride in their work.
The staff are all friendly and helpful, and they even sell snacks and coffee at a low price. I will always take time to visit when I am in the area. I hope they never sell out.

I was skeptical at first about the seriousness of a bouldering gym with no roped routes at all, but boy was I happily surprised. The staff are very serious about climbing and all fantastic climbers themselves. They set new routes in a rotating cycle so that no route is up for more than a month, and plenty of V3-V5 routes. There are always new routes and challenging projects for me to work on for multiple weeks in a row, and the community of climbers is always giving beta to everyone (even new-comers) and hyping each other up. I love Rock Out so much that I became a member after one visit. They have a summer and winter 5 week long bouldering contest that was the most fun thing I did this summer!

The gym itself is pretty nice and the staff are super friendly, but I didnβt love the route setting. Like other reviews mentioned, the grading is pretty hard here, but I donβt think thatβs a bad thing. What I donβt like is that the routes are not very creative or diverse in style, especially for the easier levels.
I donβt think itβs very beginner friendly. All the easy climbs are essentially just ladders. And the down climb holds do not go very far down the wall.

First time visitors, so zero experience to base this review on, but my son had an absolute blast visiting this gym for his 11th birthday. He and his friend climbed for 3 hours straight until their hands started giving out and they just couldn't climb safely anymore. It was wonderful seeing them challenge themselves and continue trying courses until they were successful. The variety of options kept them interested and engaged. Hope to return some day soon.

Chill little climbing gym that I visited while on family vacation. I'm an avid climber and this is one of the best setup gyms for beginner climbers that still has some fun problems for the more experienced. Hard to make a judgement call on the setting since I didn't have my normal gear with me but the grading at least in rentals seemed pretty realistic compared to outdoors, I was worried it would be super soft. I do think there could be some improvement with setting with a bit more technical finesse but it is better than I expected considering the location.
It could be nice to see a system board find it's easy into the facility for the more experienced considering the grades seem to top out at V7 and there weren't loads over V5 though space is limited so something would likely have to give to be able to put a moonboard or similar in.
Stoked to come back on the annual vacation and will bring my proper gear next time!

Awesome gym! Kicked my butt. Iβm a 6/7 climber and sent 4/5 here! Super humbling, super good moves, super good pump, and really friendly staff.
Tall walls, well set, difficult boulders, and they make great use of the space.
One word of advice for the setters: Add more crimps. Add more two hand finishes (not on the top of the wall jug).

Overall, this is a great climbing gym! It's big, clean, and has a well-equipped workout area, which I really appreciated. There's also a nice-looking children's section, which seems like a great option for families.
The only downside for me was the route setting. I found the grading to be a bit inconsistentβI could sometimes fail to do a V2 just to then flash a V4. Boulders were either too easy or quite hard, with not much in between (at least for my taste). The harder boulders felt more focused on pure physical strength than technique, which made it tough to find a problem that I was excited to come back to. I also think the routesetters could make better use of volumes to mix things up.
Still, it's a solid gym and worth checking out, especially if you're looking for staying in shape while on vacation or looking for new ways to workout.

For my first time I had a fantastic adventure . I for sure this would be simple, a piece of cake honestly but boy was I wrong . My friend and I started at VB and worked our way to 1/2 but as soon as the βrockβ started to protrude outward it was a wrap .π€£ I know Iβll have to drop some fat and gain muscles doing this . We saw expert climbers in here training and excelling; how impressive that was . Everyone was so friendly and we even met some climbers from Alabama.
Tips* be ready for your hands to catch blisters and toes to be hurting and the next day body aches * but itβs all worth it for the fun experience !

What a delight to find a climbing gym in the Florida Pan Handle. It is 100% bouldering, which was good for me since I was solo. Grades might have been a bit on the tough side, but what the heck, we climb what we can. Lastly, nice folks working the place.

I came to Rock Out Climbing with pretty high expectations based on the great reviews so I wanted to post my experience as well. I visited during vacation in a group of 3. We had 2 beginners and 2 intermediate climbers. I am basing my scores on gyms I've been to in the Atlanta, GA and Brooklyn, NY area.
1. Staff (5/5) - Staff were extremely friendly and supportive. When I was there they were even cheering on some of the climbers.
2. Facility (3/5) - Overall a bit smaller than some of the climbing gyms I've been to. You can feel the age on some of the holds. Some of the holds felt like they had way less texture. All of us were slipping on some of the footholds and it made it difficult to trust our feet. The training area doesn't have much in terms of climbing accessories (no kilterboard/moonboard or hangboard training). They do have a campus board. Not having the training area isn't a huge deal but the holds felt bad for sure.
3. Route setting (2/5) - As some people mentioned in their reviews, the grades are overall a bit harder at this gym. Expect to climb a level lower than you are used to. Beginner climbers may struggle to find routes to climb. One of the beginner climbers can climb some V2-V4 routes at other gyms, but struggled with V1 here. I felt like the route setting was also not as creative as I hoped for. Every climb ends at the top of the wall and multiple routes seemed like they were thrown together with not much thought put into them. I want to downgrade this a bit more, but this may have been an off week/cycle for the route setters.
4. Price (4/5) - Competitive pricing. They have some merch available. I didn't buy anything but the shirts felt like they were good quality. No one complained about the price.
Would I visit again?
I always travel with shoes and chalk nowadays so I think I would give it another shot. If the route setting was better I would definitely change my overall grade to 4/5.

Really nice climbing gym! We were visiting from SLC, Utah and were wondering what the climbing scene in Florida would be like, we were not disappointed!! Josh was incredibly kind and helpful, he made us feel right at home. There were a lot of beginner routes, many intermediate, the most difficult I saw was up to V7. Would recommend!

I absolutely love coming to this gym. I am pretty inexperienced in climbing, Iβve been climbing for about 4 months now and I can send most V2s in this gym. Iβve only been to 3 gyms since I started out, and this one has the best atmosphere by far.
Grading is a bit harder than where I usually go, but Iβve been told that itβs because they try very hard to grade as close to outside grading as possible. So if you come from out of state and are used to sending typical gym grades, be prepared to climb 1-2 grades lower than normal.
The staff is great, and it is very beginner friendly. As a 215 pound guy, it is nice to be able to work on a lot of easier routes. But they do have quite a bit of V4-V7 routes as well. Definitely check this place out if youβre in the area.

Great little gym. Giving it five stars because small climbing gyms are hard to maintain, manager and continue, I work at a climbing gym - so I get aspects of itβ¦
Climbed here on vacation. People were friendly. Building was clean. Was kinda hot in the gymβ¦ which I guess Floridians are use to haha - grading was way off imo - I am not super driven by grades personally but many are and I do think theyβre helpful - we grade for outside climbing in our gym too, and this little gym was intensely hard haha- a v4 felt like a v6-v8 - so was hard to figure out where to climb at here since it was so off from what Iβm use to.
But over all good gym, if I lived in Destin Iβd join. I would encourage less ladder beginner climbs - easy doesnβt have to be that plain and more intermediate. Seems like a lot of wasted space with juggy ladders when they could make it a bit more creative on the easiest sets. Just a suggestion. Again enjoyed it - wish yβall all the best.

A great place for fun and exercise with the whole family. They have rental shoes for the smallest of guests and routes for the newest climbers. Don't worry about how you look. The experienced climbers here are all very friendly and happy to have new people try the sport. Even if it looks a little crowded there is still plenty of wall space as you need to take breaks between runs to let your hands recover.
If you like it they have a special prepay for 10 visits. If you love it the membership is a great value. Stop in and talk to Josh or one of the other helpful staff and have fun while getting a good workout.

I donβt do a ton of rock climbing but this place was amazing! All the holds are very clearly labeled and colored correctly. It felt clean, didnβt smell, and the staff was super friendly.
I once went on a day where they were re-doing the routes, which is awesome that they change it up every week, but it can kinda suck because part of the wall gets closed down. But the setter started talking to me and let me try out some of the routes he just put in which was super fun and he was giving great advice. He was super friendly and easy to talk to.

Staff was super friendly. The climbs were a bit too reachy for my taste, but thatβs on me. Being 5β5β is not that usual in the area. Grades reflect what you see outside, definitely on the harder side compared to other bouldering gyms.
I usually flash v6-v7 pretty easily and send v8s in Eastern Canada bouldering gyms (Montreal/Halifax/Quebec). I got recked at this gym and was barely able to do a v4. Still had fun and it was worth the 1 and a half hour drive from Pensacola.

This was a welcome surprise while on vacation. Didn't think I'd be able to get on a wall at all but this place was in a pamphlet in our rental and I'm glad I checked it out. Bouldering only gym with a small workout area for stretching and non climbing work. Textured walls with plenty of volumes made for a good variety of routes. I know the V scale is a bit subjective, but the routes here felt a bit harder relative to same grades where I normally climb. A bit reachy and a lot of slopers, but still some good beginner routes. Intermediate to advanced climbers will have a good time here. I'd go back if I'm ever in the area again.

Excellent bouldering gym. Very clean and open. The staff and the members were all welcoming, which I was grateful for being from out of town. I was worried I wouldn't be able to climb during vacation

Brought my climbing shoes to Destin after checking out this gym online. I would recommend it highly.
Clean, well lit, friendly staff, great landing zones. They clearly refresh their routes regularly. Holds in great shape - no gunk or nastiness. Exactly the workout I was looking for while in town.

This place is awesome! The staff is friendly and the routes change at a nice constant pace so you never get bored. Opposed to a review I read below, I have never encountered a loose hold here, and if I did I have no concern that the staff would fix it right away. The prices are fair, their supplemental gyms equipment is helpful and their events are great! Rock Out is my new favorite place in Destin.

I've been climbing outside for almost 10 years. I've been setting routes in a gym for 3 years.
This gym was great!! Clean and friendly staff!
Who ever is setting the v1 v2 and v3 are doing a great job!! I would reccomend to the setter of v4 and v5 to think a bit more about shorter climbers. The moves are great but as a 5'6 climber and regular climber of v6 and v7 it was almost impossible for me to keep my feet on almost all the v5 and most of the v4. Just a couple of extra foot chips would make a world and difference!! Also would like to see more v6 plus!!
Great gym thanks!!

It is unfortunate, there is decent bouldering but several loose holds. One was a climb down which completely failed me. Bouldering is awesome and you need body control, you also need to be able to rely on the holds. One happens, multiple in the same trip is different. It is also unfortunate that the staff didn't really care. I suppose when you are the only gym in the area it doesn't really matter.

This was my first time experiencing bouldering or any form of rock climbing and, I got to tell you, it was a very humbling experience. I feel I'm fairly in shape and partial to calisthenics, however, there isn't a substitute than can prepare one for this sorta activity...except actually doing it. But there were plenty of opportunities/routes for beginners to climb. The gym was great, clean and the staff were helpful and warm...didn't make you feel unwelcome or anything like that. Would highly recommend visiting them. Honestly, if there was a similar gym on THIS side of the mid-bay bridge, and actually affordable to the common plebe like myself (my only gripe are the rates...almost reminds me of a Crossfit gym. Way out of range for most budgets), I'd totally ditch my current gym and climb full-time. But will visit again sometime in the future.

Having been to every gym in the southeast region from New Orleans to Jacksonville, I can say with confidence that βRock Out Climbing Gymβ is without a doubt the BEST CLIMBING FACILITY in the SOUTH. With their professional and friendly staff, to the immaculate facility and thoughtful experience-based route setting, Rock Out is rivaled by none. If youβve ever been climbing or think you want to try, do yourself a favor and give this establishment a visit. 5 STARS *****

Great atmosphere, great staff! Took my staff out for a team building, had an awesome time. I was worried it would be a cliquey environment, to my surprise everyone was awesome and helpful. Will be back next week! 10/10

Climbing staff was great. Although, coming from an experienced climber that visit gyms all over the United States and Europe, it is priced a little high for the level of quality/size of the gym. Quality as in the amount of different types of holds seem limited, and 16 dollars for a small room seems a bit much. The great staff and enviroment almost makes up for it. Similar gyms of that size charge 9 on average and 11 at most.

It's a bouldering gym, so no ropes. The route setting is good, the staff are nice, and the members make you feel welcome, but the gym itself is mediocre. It is however the only rock gym around.. a mediocre gym is better than no gym. Hopefully, with some more time, the gym with develop and thrive.

Went here with my husband while visiting the area. This is a nice bouldering gym with a small workout area. The staff was friendly. The only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because it's quite expensive. On top of the day pass my husband and I had to pay 5 dollars each to watch a video on how to fall and bouldering etiquette. It would be a helpful video for new climbers but as an experienced gym climber, felt like a rip off.

I went here with a group of friends a few months ago and had a great time! The staff is friendly and helpful, the building and equipment clean and orderly. The other climbers were friendly and helpful, often giving encouragement when you got to the top of the wall. Would highly recommend it to anyone looking to give rock climbing a try.
