About the Club

Sarasota Fitness Studio is a private studio located in downtown Sarasota. This 1,300-sqft fully-equipped fitness center has been an oasis to many who have sought out privacy.
The foundation of my practice as a personal trainer and massage therapist is built on my extensive knowledge of anatomy and kinesiology, and a solid understanding of how the body moves and functions. I use a holistic approach that draws from my experience to develop individualized plans for my clients that are realistic and produce results. Whether developing an exercise plan, encouraging a client through a fitness or stretching routine, helping to heal an injury, massaging a stubborn muscle, or giving out ideas for a healthy dinner. I love what I do!

I’ve been going to Sarasota fitness for three years now. I started seeing Michael to work through what I thought to be a foot problem. Given Michael’s deep expertise in anatomy and kinesiology, he was able to identify that the pain wasn’t caused by my foot strike but due to an imbalance that was rooted in my hips. Through a series of stretches and strengthening exercises, I’m now back to running again and have been for two years! During this time he also helped me to establish a highly effective weight and strengthening program. He is a great fitness ‘coach - he ‘meets you where you are’ and understands your goals to support you to be your best!
I have worked on and off with fitness instructors over the years and none of them stuck - except Michael. He not only got me back to running again, but has also given me the knowledge and guidance to improve my overall strength, fitness and posture.
An added plus is that he’s an amazing masseuse and has a great vibe happening in the studio!

He meets you where you are, he improves your fitness, your flexibility, and your strength. AND if you’re hurting he knows how to heal you. He is not only a master trainer but also a highly skilled kinesiologist/massage therapist. It doesn’t matter where you are in your journey to better fitness, Michale will meet you there and guide and support you to reach your goals whatever they may be. AND (bonus) he’s interesting, engaging and authentic!! I always leave my sessions with Michael feeling upbeat, energized and ready for whatever comes my way.

Michael takes a holistic approach to strength training - meaning he is well informed about the physiology, nutrition, and lifestyle components of cultivating a good strong and healthy body. His approach is very personalized to each individual. My husbands workout is distinct from mine- we each see him individually. On top of teaching and providing good context for how you work the body properly to prevent injury, he is also a body worker who can identify the source of pain or injury or discomfort to heal those.

I highly doubt that you would find a better trainer in all of Sarasota in terms of the unique skillset that Michael provides. I have so appreciated his knowledge of anatomy - he has taught me the importance of visualizing specific muscle groups as I train which is important because good training takes a science approach. He is also very cognizant of helping you to achieve your goals safely; taking stock of what is currently happening with your body, and building slowly to prevent injuries. This is very important to me as an older athlete because being injury free is a must in order to to make any progress and develop a routine that is sustainable over time. Michael is also a Certified Massage Therapist and he uses that skill to reduce pain and stiffness during the training session. He's also just a great guy too. I strongly recommend him.

I never thought I'd have a personal trainer..didn't think I really needed one. But after taking one "kick the tires" class, I knew that my normal gym routine was never going to compare to the level of precision I received. Michael, the owner of Sarasota Fitness Studio knows his stuff. I was blown away by his knowledge and care in developing a fitness routine and then making sure I was doing it correctly, to avoid injury. Based on a friend's referral, I've been training with Michael for about 6 months. Michael is amazing! He is incredibly knowledgeable in physiology and anatomy, and makes every training session challenging and FUN! He listens to what you want to achieve and helps you reach your fitness goals, while addressing issues, like posture, that may be getting in your way. His training sessions are customized to you, your fitness goals, and where you are each time you train. He's got great taste in music and can talk about anything - the time goes by before you know it and you're looking forward to the next session.

I worked with Michael for 4 months this past winter for pain I was experiencing in my hips and shoulders. Michael expertly pinpointed the interconnecting muscles that needed to be strengthened. Using simple and targeted posture and strengthening exercises he showed me how to correct the compensating muscle imbalances that were causing pain. Amazingly, I began to feel relief immediately. Michael has extensive knowledge of the body's muscle structure and can clearly explain how, where and why weakness and pain is being experienced. Michael helped me tremendously and I would highly recommend him to anyone experiencing muscle pain and weakness.

When I first moved here to Sarasota as a health care worker I was beaten down by Covid, both physically and mentally. I was almost immobilized by my psoriatic arthritis and by seeing so many people suffer and die during the pandemic. I found Micheal on the internet. The moment that I walked into his gym was the moment that I knew I had made the right choice. We discussed diet, hormones, muscles, the vertebrae and neurological system. I could tell he really knew his stuff. He pointed out to me the exact muscle that lead to my SI joint that was causing me major discomfort. After several hours of work outs, discussion about diet and stress management with Michael, I have dug deep within and found that physically and mentally strong person that I knew was inside. I’ve trained with Mike for about three months now, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results. He is incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology. If you are experiencing any pain, he will diagnose the specific muscle groups that need attention, and develop a training plan to address the issues. In my case I am “prehabbing” for an upcoming joint replacement, but am also seeking improved overall fitness, and he is doing great on both fronts! Each session is different, so you and your muscles won’t get bored as you work towards your goals. Five stars!

Michael was everything I expected and more. I would recommend him in a heartbeat. I am in awe of just how knowledgeable he is in the areas of fitness, the anatomy, injuries, rehabilitation, relaxation, strength training and diet.

He did an excellent job of assessing my needs, customizing a program and explaining the exercises that I needed in order to improve on my weaknesses. One look at me and he noticed I had rounded forward shoulders with stress on my scapula. We focused on improving my posture. I’m now standing tall with my shoulders back and also pain free.

I could never achieve this level of fitness and wellness at my age, (currently fifty-one) if not for the personal attention given in my training sessions.

Michael is my go-to when I am having aches and pains, honestly, I should go more often however I typically wait until I am really hurting! Michael fully understands the mechanics of pain / injury and finds the exact origin or spot that the pain / injury occurred.
