Seriously Strong Training specializes in helping fitness beginners learn the ins and outs of the gym, nutrition, and strength training. Our personal trainers work diligently to understand what you want to accomplish, what obstacles are in your way, and then work with you to develop the perfect plan to overcome those challenges. Our mission is to equip you with the skills and knowledge to feel comfortable and confident going to the gym. If you're looking for a top-notch gym, this is it! The equipment is in excellent condition—like new—and the entire space is spotless and well-maintained. Joey, the personal trainer, is absolutely outstanding—knowledgeable, motivating, and genuinely committed to helping you reach your goals. Even the water here tastes like it’s straight from a mountain stream in Hawaii! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming, creating a positive, supportive atmosphere from the moment you walk in. Great facility. Quality equipment. Always super clean. Bonus points for the ice maker! 🤪 Athena runs a well-organized gym and is a great trainer. She breaks down each exercise in a way that’s easy to understand, especially for beginners, helping you learn how movements should feel, and pushes and encourages you to improve!

I’ve been having a lot of back pain recently and didn’t have much fitness experience. Recently met the owner of the gym, Keith. Keith and I discussed the pain I’ve been having and my knowledge deficit in fitness. He very kindly set me up for a training session with Coach Mike. Mike was very knowledgeable about body mechanics, mobility, flexibility and much more. We spent the session working on mobility and flexibility and ending with stretching and massage. I left the session in much less pain and much more knowledge

Phenomenal Experience at SST – Highly Recommend!
After checking out a few gyms offering personal training, I knew the moment I stepped into SST that I’d enjoy training there. The gym is small, yet spacious enough for multiple people to train comfortably at the same time. It’s packed with a variety of new equipment and has the modern feel I was looking for—without being overcrowded or overwhelming like some chain gyms. The space is clean, well-organized, and welcoming.
I had my consultation with the amazing Athena, who clearly explained all the training options and what each package includes. I was impressed—not just by the facility itself, but by everything that comes with the training: a user-friendly app, body scans, and even some branded swag. I’ve never had a personal training gym that provides an app that tracks your workouts, progress, and PRs. It’s been incredibly helpful to see my improvements over time—not just through body scan results, but also in tracking my weights, reps, and personal records. The instant PR notifications are a great motivator, too.
After evaluating my body recomposition goals, Athena paired me with Joey L. as my personal trainer—and he’s been fantastic. Joey is personable and makes sessions fly by (as other reviewers have said, training with him feels like working out with an old friend). While friendly conversation isn't a must-have for every trainer, I’ve found it makes sessions more enjoyable and engaging, rather than just counting reps. He’s also great at explaining the “why” behind each movement and happily answers any training or gym culture questions I throw his way.
Since February (it’s now May), Joey has had me focused on functional movements—some of which I hadn’t done much of with previous trainers and was initially nervous about, like squats and deadlifts. He’s helped me improve my form and confidence, and the focused training has really paid off. In just 75 days, I’ve dropped 7% body fat (from 32% to 25%) and gained 5 pounds of skeletal muscle. I’ll admit, I was a bit concerned during the first month when the scale barely moved or even went up. But after my 75-day body scan—and simply looking in the mirror—it was clear I was making real, meaningful progress. The consistency, effort, and Joey’s progressive training plan have been exactly what I needed to hit my goals.
I couldn’t be more thrilled with SST. The coordination, atmosphere, top-tier equipment, and expert training have all exceeded my expectations. The gym is never crowded, which gives it a more intimate and comfortable vibe, and the whole team is warm and welcoming. Overall, my experience has been phenomenal—and I wouldn’t recommend going anywhere else.

Just started as a client in December 2024 and have been training twice a week with Michael. This is one of the best workout gyms and training facilities I've joined and am really happy I found them. Athena was great at doing intake with me to understand my goals and baseline all my metrics. She matched me with Michael Yam as my trainer who has been a great choice. I really look forward to a very rigourous and varied workout each time I visit. They even have an app where all the workouts, your progress, and other metrics are tracked for you. The equipment seems really new and very well maintained. And I really like that they have 2 free weekend group classes each month that they invite clients to as this is a fun way to meet new people and try a new fun workout. I've been attending Seriously Strong since February 2025, and it has been a game-changer for me. Joey, my trainer, is amazing! I suffer from lower back pain due to an old injury and was hesitant to lift weights. However, Joey's expertise and personalized workout routine have significantly strengthened my back and improved my posture in a short time. He is incredibly knowledgeable and makes every session enjoyable, like catching up with an old friend while getting stronger.
Athena, another staff member, is the kindest and sweetest person. She genuinely cares about the members and always ensures the facility is clean and welcoming.
If you're hesitant about lifting weights due to back pain, I highly recommend Seriously Strong. It's probably the best thing you can do for your back pain.

I did a trial of 4 training sessions which included a consultation about goals, current body comp, etc. Athena did the consult and she was great! My trainer was amazingly knowledgeable. She pushed me pretty hard (which I like), but more importantly, I learned how to properly dead lift and squat. There is a LOT more technique involved in than I had realized. Highly recommend!

I've been training at SST with Mike for just under a year now. Definitely one of the best decisions I've made this year as it had been a while since I had done any regular lifting or exercise. Mike is awesome to work with and knows his stuff. Teaches good form, knows when and how hard to push you, and focuses on what you want to accomplish. Can't recommend him enough.

So glad i found this gym! Was looking for something local to switch from my home workouts I was feeling bored with. Have worked with both Aracelli and Athena and both are amazing! Love that the gym is never more than 6 of us max and sometimes just me and a trainer. The equipment is great. Everything is so clean, tidy, and lots of thoughtful touches like the coffee station, bathroom supplies and extra activities like pickleball for all of us! I also find the prices SO reasonable for the level of service and knowledge. Love the model too that you can cancel any time. The whole sales and onboarding process is no pressure, so chill and felt great!

I have worked with A LOT of personal training companies and this is by far an elite, professional, and incredible training service. I have worked with both Athena and now Aracelli and they are amazing! I am an experienced weight lifter so Aracelli really pushes me. Started training with SST several months ago and it was definitely one of the best decisions I’ve made all year! I felt welcome from my first step in and I always to look forward to every session. No question ever feels like a dumb question and you never feel scarily pushed beyond your limits, always just past what you thought yourself capable of where you can really acknowledge your progress.
You’re not just told to go through the motions of an exercise till completion, but actually taught about the mechanics and purpose and how to go about everything safely; You’re taught about everything really, from exercise to nutrition to general lifestyle choices that can help you reach your goals. I train with Anthony who’s an awesome trainer, and I know that the rest of the trainers are also incredible!
A couple bonuses include how incredibly clean the gym is and the occasional Kai sighting.
Really, It’s always a good day when it’s an SST day :)

I hadn't worked out in forever, so to say I was apprehensive about joining a gym with a personal trainer is an understatement. However, the moment I walked into Seriously Strong, I felt an instant connection. I knew this experience would be legendary.
Keith, the owner, and Athena, the Director of Operations, have created a masterpiece of a gym. The gym's small and intimate setting is perfect for me. At most, there might be one other client training with their personal trainer, so it doesn't have the overwhelming atmosphere of a typical gym where you might feel out of place or intimidated.
The cleanliness of the gym is impeccable. Everything from the gym floor to the restroom is meticulously maintained. I've never been in a cleaner bathroom.
Athena paired me up with Anthony as my trainer, and he is amazing. He understands how I respond best—through encouragement and praise rather than a drill sergeant approach.
In just a few weeks, I have been crushing my goals, adding several pounds of muscle, and feeling fantastic.
If you're looking for a laid-back gym that's clean, staffed with kind professionals, and filled with an atmosphere of encouragement, Seriously Strong is the place for you. This morning I weighed less than 200# for the first time in 8 years and this week I lifted 200#. It felt REALLY good.
Over the last 6 months, I've lost 60# but Athena and I haven't talked about my weight loss goals. We have talked about learning to trust my body, getting up off the floor without using my hands, and doing a pull up. Two days of strength training a week has turned into two days of strength, three days of pilates, and 1 night of roller skating (almost) every week.
I never feel "too sore" but I'm getting stronger every week. Athena asks me how I'm feeling every day that we train. Then she customizes my workout to make sure I get a great workout that works with my body.
I love the welcoming environment at SST and that they also engage with the Seminole Heights community.

In the last year working with the team at Seriously Strong Training I've dropped 80lbs of fat and completely changed my life.
In April 2023, I was 275lbs and I was diagnosed with some GI issues that caused me to completely change my eating habits. I started working out for the first time since high school and the trainers here supported me every step of the way.
They educated me on exercise technique, nutrition, and recovery.
What I liked most was that it felt like the entire team had my back, and they weren't afraid to have the hard talks with me when I was tempted to go back to my old lifestyle.
They showed me how to get the most out of my home gym equipment, and they even bought me some additional equipment as gifts for Christmas so I could continue progressing.
Since the start of this year I've shifted gears to focus on gaining even more strength, endurance, and muscle. I've gained about 10lbs since my lowest body weight at the beginning of 224 and it's been pure muscle.

I had gotten away from the gym/working out for years and was looking to get back into it and really needed some direction to get going again. I had never used a trainer before and didn't feel like using one at my gym was what I was looking for. Luckily, I found SST!!
Not only do I get the attention of a trainer, but this feels more like you get an entire gym to yourself. Its quaint (and amazingly neat/clean), but also seems to have every piece of equipment that you could think of. They tailor everything based on your goals and work with you on all aspects of your journey (nutrition, conditioning, flexibility, athleticism and of course, strength training).
My trainer, Mike, has been fantastic! He is very knowledgeable, takes the time to explain everything and is always helping me out with my form and proper technique. Though the workouts are challenging, its something that I really look forward to.
You also get access to their app where you can easily track your progress, view videos and they even build out workouts that you can do on your own with whatever equipment that you have access to. Plus as an added bonus, they brew their own cold brew and have it on tap for any coffee lovers out there.
I'm definitely not a finished product by any means, but I am so much further along and stronger than I have ever been and I would not have been able to do it without SST.

I was starting from scratch on weight lifting and wanted to find a gym to help me learn the basics. After a lot of searching and some failed F45 classes, I found SST, and I’m so glad I did! Athena and Mike have created such a welcoming and supportive environment. I’ve never worked out with a personal trainer before, but I can’t imagine a better experience. When I started looking for a personal trainer and gym in Seminole Heights, I didn’t think I would find one in this part of Tampa. Seriously Strong has been the best fitness decision I have ever made. Athena and her team are all certified, extremely knowledgeable, and affordable. The trainers bring passion to what they do and are genuinely amazing people. The commitment, dedication, and integrity of this gym and staff is unparalleled. I’ve watched a lot of personal trainer big gyms on their phones while “working” with clients, absentmindedly counting reps, and functioning more like cheerleaders than coaches. Yesterday I had the pleasure of seeing both the St. Pete gym and the new SST in Seminole heights. This is the cleanest gym I’ve ever been in, and I was impressed with how neat and orderly things were. One of the things that keeps most people from the gym is how dirty, crowded, and uninviting they can be. Not here. The personal trainers here are, well, personable, and knowledgeable. I always judge what’s going on behind the scenes of a small business by the state of the bathroom, and this gym’s bathrooms are immaculate.

This is a good gym with great people. I’m the type that likes to cut to the chase instead of trying to figure it out and making a ton of mistakes. Mistakes in the gym are the type that can put you in the hospital and I can’t afford that. A coach is way cheaper than missing work. I have a busy schedule so I needed to see results with as little time invested as possible and that’s exactly what I get here. My personal trainer knows which questions to ask to give me the right solutions for my body type. My biggest goal here was SMB (skeleto-muscular building), and it’s exactly what I’ve gotten. The SMB here is great.

The SST team is top notch! I’ve had the opportunity to train with three different trainers during my membership, and every one of them was professional, knowledgable, attentive and personable. The equipment and facilities are of the highest quality and always kept pristine.
Unlike larger “gym chains,” SST is never over crowded, so you don’t have to worry about waiting on equipment, someone interrupting your set or any unwelcome interactions. On the same token, SST is great for anyone from self conscious beginners to serious expert lifters thanks to the smaller, more intimate space.

Up until I started working with one of the personal trainers at SST, I had been almost entirely self-taught when it comes to the gym. I've read a lot of articles, blogs, watched countless hours of YouTube videos, and recorded my own lifts to post to Reddit for critiques. You name it, and I have tried it.
Working with a coach here has been the first time I have ever been able to get real-time feedback on my lifts from a professional (instead of some random at the gym).
I am proud to say that there is a lot that I got right over the years, and I am also happy to say that my coach is always able to identify the small tweaks I need to improve even further.
What I like most about my coach is that it feels like we are a team, working together towards my goals, instead of a having a drill instructor. My coach respects my knowledge base and works with me to come up with solutions and a plan to take me where I want to go.
All of the coaches here have a ton of knowledge and I'd be more than happy to train with any of them.

What I like most about Seriously Strong Training is their focus on stuff that is time tested and just plain works—no fads. I love how clean this gym is and that it’s never crowded. I love their approach to fitness as well, because it always feels like my coach is working with me to create a plan that is going to take me where I want to go instead of forcing me on some cookie cutter program. I've worked with the SST team in Tallahassee during college and I've wanted to work with them again ever since moving to Orlando. I've tried a couple of different coaches near my house and none have lived up to my expectations.
When the Tampa gym opened I got excited because it was just inside of how far I was willing to drive a couple of times a week for coaching.

As soon as you step into this gym you know it’s going to be amazing. I was greeted by an adorable dog, and a smiling woman named Athena who made me feel at home immediately.
They listened to what I wanted to accomplish, asked about what has/hasn’t worked for me in the past, and then told me what it would be like to work together.
I couldn’t sign up fast enough lol.
I’ve been here about 6 weeks now and I’ve already seen some changes in the way my clothes fit.

As a New York native, I had not quite yet found a new gym to join since relocating to the Tampa area. Recently I happened to stumble upon Seriously Strong Training where I was pleasantly surprised; the quality of the service was amazing, the equipment clean and well maintained, and the atmosphere was very focused. Typically, I would always workout on my own at the gym but the community nature of this gym really stood out to me.

I started lifting for sports when I was a teenager and kept lifting on my own on and off through most of my adult life. I took advantage of the two weeks of free personal training offer they were doing, and wow was it an eye opener. I had never had professional coaching on my weightlifting before. This gym felt different than the other gyms I’ve been to. It felt like it was built for me. It’s really clean, the staff is friendly and greet me by name when I walk in, and I’ve never once felt uncomfortable here. I’m a data guy so the monthly progress reports help me visualize my progress. I’m a coffee guy so the free coffee they have on tap helps me wake up for those early sessions. I have been training at SST for over two years now and can honestly say that I love it. I started with SST in December 2020 and have gained muscle and lost body fat. I have learned so much about different exercises, proper form, nutrition, etc. and I now feel confident to train on my own at a big box gym. However I continue to train at SST because I like the accountability and support that SST provides.
You will immediately feel welcomed the moment you walk in the door. Just saw the new gym–WOW!!!! Top of the line equipment, super clean, and plenty of space to workout. The staff is nice and had me laughing within the first few minutes of walking in the door. I've wanted to train with this team for a few years but havent lived near one. The new personal training studio is super close to where I am moving to in Seminole Heights and my wish has been granted.

This is the best personal training gym you could ever join. I’ve worked with different trainers at SST Tallahassee and my experience has been incredible. I can tell that they’re obsessed with delivering quality training because every trainer I’ve met has been great and knowledgeable. You feel immediately comfortable walking in to a clean facility with genuine trainers that are there to help you succeed. It’s so exciting to see them expanding to Tampa!

Your trainer will take their time to set goals with you, teach you proper form, and check up on you during the week. Getting a trainer at Seriously Strong Training has been the best decision I’ve ever made for my health and fitness. I currently train at the Tallahassee gym but have worked out at the St. Pete gym also and the trainers and facility in both locations are top notch. I’ve tried to get in shape multiple times throughout my life without seeing noticeable results. At 56 years old, I decided I really needed to take better care of myself but knew I would never get anywhere unless I hired a trainer. I started working out SST’s Tallahassee location 10 months ago, and it’s the best health decision I’ve ever made.
I've always felt out of place in fitness centers, but since day one I’ve felt completely at home. SST provides a friendly, welcoming environment. Clients vary by age, physical condition, and experience, making it the right place for everyone. Each training plan is uniquely tailored to the client’s needs and goals.
SST emphasizes technique and safety above all else. My trainer Justin is with me every step of the way to ensure I learn how to get the most from my workouts while avoiding injury. I feel extremely safe, my technique has greatly improved, and my confidence in working out on my own has grown tremendously.
SST’s facility and its equipment are excellent. Everything is maintained in spotless condition at all times.
Most importantly, I’ve had tremendous success. I’ve lost five percent of my body fat and added at least 10 pounds of muscle. I feel better than I have in years and at 57 years old I have better muscle tone and definition than I had at 27. My success motivates me to work harder and inspires me to live a healthier life.
I've learned that it's never too late to start taking better care of yourself, but it never would have happened had I not started training at SST. I am extremely grateful for what they’ve helped me achieve and I’m confident that Tampa clients will experience the same success!

Seriously Strong Training is great! I have worked with their coach Kris who designed a program specifically for my needs. They created a system that helps you learn how to strength train by breaking down movements first to make sure you’re moving correctly as you progress in the exercise. Their approach to nutrition coaching is a huge help. Rather than handing you a meal plan and leaving you on your own, they help you learn how food impacts your body composition and overall health. The entire team is so kind and make you feel welcomed every time you walk in! I am excited they are opening a Tampa location to make training with them even more convenient.

I am happy to see Seriously Strong opening a location in Tampa. I am currently working with Jesse in the St. Pete location, but living in Tampa now I plan to join their gym in Seminole Heights. The gym is always clean and organized and I am greeted by name every time I walk in. My trainer works to create a program that is built around where I want to go with my goals and he checks in with me every month to make sure it remains relevant. Welcome to Tampa SST! This gym is great. It’s always so clean and stocked with all the equipment you would want. The systems they created were designed to help clients make fitness their habit. They start by helping you establish sustainable changes to your habits and then building them up to create a lifestyle where you reach your goals and sustain your results. There is an app for clients to use where you get access to your solo workouts, habit reminders and messaging with your trainer. I am currently in their St. Pete location, but I am looking forward to their Tampa location opening which is closer to my home.

When I was looking for a gym I had a few criteria. My number one requirement was that it was private. I hated the feeling of being judged or that I was an unwilling extra in someone's Tiktok video. Everyone at SST is working one-on-one with their personal trainer so there are only ever a few people in the gym. And of those few others in here while I am training, they're beginners just like me. That helps me feel comfortable and because I know everyone is focused on themselves, I can let my guard down and just focus on me.

When I decide I’m going to dive in to something, I go all the way. No holds barred. When I was younger this meant reading a lot of books, watching YouTube videos, and experimenting.
When it came to strength training, some of that experimentation got me injured along the way. Now that I’m older and deep in my career, I can cut out some of the painful experimentation phase and pay to work with a professional.
I started working with a coach at SST to correct my strength training form, and let me get information straight from an expert. I know I have to train differently than when I was in my 20s and my personal trainer helps me figure out what’s right for me. The training programs that are created for me keep things interesting. The accountability I get from my coach helps me stay on track. The jokes are what keep me coming back.

Wow, this place is awesome. I rarely review businesses but this company has gone above and beyond with what they do. The gym has a perfect set-up: mostly free weights, enough power racks for everyone, and minimal cardio machines. Best part is you can expect the same set-up and top-notch equipment in all locations.
So the facility is awesome but what makes Seriously Strong Training unique is their team of trainers. The gym brings on only the best trainers around and puts them through a Seriously Strong Training shadowing and education program before they work with clients even if they have years of experience!
