At Tampa Strength, we know everyone has a goal, whether it’s increasing your maximum bench press, performing at a high level in a sport, or building a body you are confident in. Our South Tampa studio provides you with all the tools, the experience, and the knowledge you need to reach your goals.
Our certified personal trainers will take you through a FREE workout to determine strengths and weaknesses in your posture, mobility, and flexibility. Once your fitness assessment is complete, we’ll sit down with you to establish your GOAL and layout your customized success plan.

My daughter plays volleyball so we started training at Tampa Strength with Nick to work on speed, agility & strength to help her keep growing in the sport. Nick has been my trainer for 2 years now since I started getting more serious about my golf game. I immediately started seeing positive results within the first couple months and then I broke my leg. I got back in the gym a couple months later while simultaneously doing physical therapy and one thing worth noting is how similar my exercises were between the two. I felt very safe doing the workouts. It was also like I was getting the best road to recovery as Nick was very accommodating while providing complimentary workouts to help me get back to my normal routines. Needless to say, Nick's workouts are very personalized to the customers goals, so they can vary upon person to person.

I was going to Tampa Strength for almost a year and was working with Nick. Nick has been absolutely wonderful. I definitely feel stronger and actually have some arm muscles now. They’re not hardcore exhausting workouts, but rather a combination of resistance training, strength building, a bit of cardio and stretches. They are workouts that sneakily make your body sturdier for the long run. I also became pregnant after joining this gym and he was very accommodating based on how far along I was, what I could do. I worked out up till 37+ weeks and I honestly think my pregnancy was very smooth and I could remain very active with no back pain, tiredness or really any issues because of my regular workouts. He was also very understanding of any timing/scheduling changes that would come up. Aside from exercising, I also enjoyed the sessions for the social aspects. It was always fun chatting with Nick and the other regulars I would workout with frequently (2-3 at most depending on the time, but Nick was still able to give equal attention to all of us). I just recently stopped going because of the last stages of pregnancy, but I am looking forward to joining again in a few months once I figure out this new baby gig.

I love Tampa Strength!

This is the missing piece you didnt yet identify. If you want to finish your round feeling refreshed instead of drained, come see Nick at Tampa Strength. I have greater flexibility AND strength. After a few months of going twice a week, I was able to get my Speedstick clubhead speed from 115 to 126mph!

From the beginning it was easy to see that Nick is focused on helping each of his clients meet their personal goals. I cannot say enough about Coach Nick and Tampa Strength! My son started training there at 15 because he really wanted to improve his golf game, and it was totally worth the drive for me to take him out there once or twice a week. He would then work out at the gym in our neighborhood the other 3 times a week. His golf game and confidence went through the roof and he qualified for state as an individual his sophomore year! These guys know what they are doing. I started working with John Weston about five months before my wedding so I would look sleeker in my tuxedo. John helped me transform my body. I lost 17 pounds. I lost 3-4 inches off of my waist. I stood up straighter. I gained muscle, and lost fat. Beyond looks, I gained endurance and strength that I had never had before. For full disclosure, one of the trainers, John Weston, is my son. With that out of the way, I want to share my experience with Tampa Strength. Shawn Balow has been my personal trainer for over 5 years. Even though I have had both hips and both shoulders replaced, I have made considerable progress. However, a few years ago, Shawn decided to emphasize golf and got multiple certifications from TPI. Given I am an avid golfer, we decided to change my workout regime from general fitness to one incorporating both general fitness and golf specific exercises. Even though I have had both shoulders replaced in the last 24 months, my handicap index has dropped from 15 to 11.1. Further, I am now spending summers in NC, and just won the member guest and my flight in the club championship during past 4 weeks. I have shot in the 70s 5 times this summer, and had not broken 80 for over 4 years prior.

I attribute a lot of this to my improved stamina, my improved posture, and my improved flexibility and core strength. When playing mountain golf, it is imperative to maintain your posture and keep good balance. Now that John has gotten TPI certified, he and Shawn are "double-teaming" me. I just joined the online program this summer where John and Shawn have developed my training program for up here in NC. Both my wife and I use this program. I strongly endorse Tampa Strength and believe they can help anyone achieve their fitness goals. I love how flexible they are, and how they incorporate whatever restrictions you have based on your physical condition to devise the right workout for you. Good luck with your fitness endeavors.

I started working with Shawn near the end of 2016 on golf fitness. All I can say is, does it benefit your golf game. Shawn's workouts consist of mobility, balance, flexibility, and my favorite, the strengthening. His workouts allow you to move so much better during your golf swing. I have been working with John at 10 for strength for 10 months now. I have never actually looked forward to going to the gym but the variety of workouts and the attention to form has kept me enthusiastic about working out. My body is in better shape than it has been in years!The functional movement philosophy that they ascribe to is just amazing! At No time am I just standing around pumping weights. I am 51 years old and I'm always concerned about injury during a workout. However, John is always right there checking my form always asking if any thing that we do is bothering my back or knees. I knowledge that both John and Shawn' posess is both vast and varied. They are both always educating themselves and researching new techniques.

I started golf fitness with Shawn 7 months ago to prepare for the World Hickory Open in Scotland. The program focuses on building core strength, flexibility, balance and improving overall fitness. Shawn's program incorporates a number of different modalities including weight training, yoga, and something really cool ...."Stick Mobility". The results have been positive and well worth it. I am definitely more flexible and have greater core strength which have contributed to a better game. I recommend it to all golfers regardless of age.

Shawn Balow has always had a passion for the gym and he is determined to find new ways to help people by research and attending personal training events. Knowing that I in the past have had fractures, he made sure he could give me a workout to help my personal issue. He goes over everything if you are not a gym person so you know how to do the workouts and if you need help he always is right there. This is the perfect gym for both males and females. I began working with Shawn back in March for the sake of improving my golf mobility, and there has truly been a world of a difference in my physical stamina in the later parts of my tournament rounds!
