high hopes for the UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center, given its connection to the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Unfortunately, my experience was far from what a world-class institution should offer.

Instead of a focus on logic, merit, or practical wellness, the environment seems overly politicized. There’s a clear undercurrent of favoritism and performative behavior—success here appears to rely more on who you praise and how well you “play the game” than on competence or genuine effort. It often feels like a popularity contest where being honest or straightforward can work against you.

Constructive feedback isn’t welcomed unless it’s sugar-coated, and voicing a different perspective can lead to being sidelined or ignored entirely. That’s not just unprofessional; it’s unhealthy, especially in a space that’s supposed to be about improving well-being.

If you’re looking for a supportive, rational, and objective fitness environment, this may not be it. I hope they eventually re-center their priorities around professionalism, respect, and actual wellness—not internal politics and shallow optics.

The gym itself deserves 5 stars, however the amenities are only a weak two stars
Allow me to elaborate. The two-floor gym erea is excellent. The equipments are clean, they all work and are quite plentiful. No major crowd issues, almost never have to wait to use a machine. However... The locker room area, particularly the amenities, leave quite a lot to be desired. The steam room was in and out of service for a couple of years, now it's been available and working for a few months. But the jacuzzi/whirlpool has been out of commission for over 3 years and there's no indication of planning to get it re-opened anytime soon. There was a sign posted for about 2 years that it was being repaired, which was replaced by another sign reading that the repair has been completed and now they are waiting only for the inspection, so the whirlpool can be re-opened. This latest sign was posted over a year ago... Also, the handicapped shower was closed down for almost 2 years and a couple of wall dryers have been waiting for a repair or replacement for years.
So as much as I love and appreciate the gym area itself, the amenities area doesn't seem to be on the radar of the management at all.

I recently had the pleasure of visiting UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center in Miami, and I couldn't be more impressed with my experience. She was incredibly helpful and professional, providing all the information I needed and ensuring that I was comfortable.

The cleanliness and hygiene standards at UHealth Fitness and Wellness Center are top-notch. Every corner of the gym was spotless, and there was always someone ensuring that the equipment and facilities were sanitized and well-maintained. This level of cleanliness gave me peace of mind and allowed me to focus entirely on my workout.

Speaking of equipment, the quality here is amazing. All machines and weights are in excellent condition, and there is a wide variety to cater to every workout need. Whether you're into cardio, strength training, or just looking to stay fit, UHealth has it all.

What a horrific experience with ARI who was working the front desk, I will never go back to this gym again in my life. Never have I ever dealt with such incompetence nor have I ever felt the need to leave a review about an employee but this girl needs to be replaced asap because she is completely out to lunch and turning away customers. I go to sign up with me and my girlfriend to the gym. First we see one member getting disgruntled with her so then when we come up next to sign up she tells us smiling to leave that the credit card machine is down to try again another day. I work for a credit card processing company and tell her every way to fix the terminal which she refused to listen to just telling me too bad . I request to speak with a manager and she tells me there’s no one around just her. I then tell her can we pay cash or just register us in the system as members and keep our cards on file HOW ELSE WOULD ANY RECURRING MEMBERSHIP BE PAID OBVIOUSLY THE CARDS ARE ON FILE and then she proceeds to tell me that’s not how it works it’s only for recurring as if she knows what she is talking about and I don’t deal with gyms credit card processing on a daily basis that Ofcourse it isn’t only recurring billing that would work and nothing else. For some reason I thought she understood so she then adds our cards on file then just stares at us. I’m like okay we are good then and she goes no you still have to leave and try again next week AFTER having us sign waivers already and taking copies of our drivers license. Makes absolute no sense she did not try to resolve anything the whole time just telling us oh well. I even told her she has our card info and IDs she can just charge us whenever the system comes back up and still saying too bad that there’s no manager I can speak to just her. I will never go back ever again and waste my life like that .

Closes way too early for a facility for employees whose shifts are NOT 9 to 5. Too crowded before closing. The whole pool and hot tub area is out of service indefinitely. No one knows when it will be fixed. People are fully clothed with shoes(!) inside the sauna. I walk in there and I smell their clothes and shoes. This is unsanitary. Yet there're tons of signs about covid and distance and other outdated stuff that makes no sense. Overall the facility seems neglected.

Bizarre awkward facility that is extremely difficult to find once you reach the medical tower. The front desk staff is as comically apathetic as another reviewer recently stated. Actual locker room is isolated away behind closed doors from the men's facilities (I have no idea why it was designed like this). And in the locker room; there is no actual seating lol however in one section there is a bit of a ledge that can be used to sit so everyone seemed to be clustered on top of ea other in that one area. The lighting was "wallmart style" overly bright in both the steam room and sauna which was totally unpleasant / not relaxing.

This place was a gigantic disappointment and I cant recommend it.

This is my go to place for the weekdays. This place is spacious, equipped with most of the necessary gym equipment. You name it and they would have got it, probably in their store room. Kettlebells, heavy tyres to flip, sledges to pull or push, TRX, Olympic rings, and some more stuff that people don't even care to touch. This gym is literally so awesome that it has something for everybody in it. I don't see this fitness centre falling short on anything. The staff is so cordial. I have not seen anybody complaining about equipment. Plus the people that come to the gym are also civilized. They even have the sauna system in there, but I have not used that myself. This facility is mainly for UM students and employees. I struck a really inexpensive monthly deal here and I am so relieved that I found this facility within walking distance of my residence. My opinion: This is the best gym I have ever been to.

Great gym except the older lady with red hair forcing my to validate parking. Gave me a whole lecture for some reason. Literally made cards behind me back up made me get out of the line because I wanted to pay the $3 to park. Would like to leave the gym without being harassed. I loved the equipment, but I counted at least 50 different signs everywhere I looked throughout the gym area with mind-numbing little rules and restrictions; these significantly diminished my enjoyment of the gym as I felt I was assumed to have the mental capacity of a little child.

UHealth: TEAR DOWN THOSE SIGNS.

Please let me know once you remove these useless warnings; until then, I’ll look for another place to exercise. Please note that I support a business' right to choose to require masks (or no masks) at any time, whether during a pandemic or not. Whatever floats your boat. This complaint is simply about the over-the-top number of nanny signs and the diminutive childish feeling it creates.

I'd give this a 3.5. This is a very nice facility, especially considering the surrounding gyms in the area. It's quite clean, spacious, and has everything you need. However, I do have suggestions...

1. The advertised hot tub doesn't seem like it's cleaned as often as it should be.
2. There is a lot of dust, especially near the handrails upstairs. You'll see it fly all over the place if you stretch there.
3. There could be more regular bench press areas.
4. The music... it's either a god-awful repetition of the top 10 in the radio, or completely unpredictable. The latter is certainly preferred.
5. Employees don't really do anything about users flouting the rules (i.e. no crossfit-type lifts where someone loudly drops a fully-loaded barbell, no warnings when a gung-ho group decides to loudly and repeatedly throw a heavy ball on the floor to the point where everyone notices and everything shakes).

It's a nice facility, but it could use better management and more cleanliness.

I've gone to almost every gym in Miami and hands down this is the best one ever. Here's why:
1. It's affordable and they allow you to pay month by month. If you're a student you get a discount.
2. They offer locker rentals for only $10.00 a month.
3. They give you access to free work out towels and bath towels with no additional fees.
4. They have a jacuzzi, sauna and steam room for the men and the women.
5. They provide free parking during specific hours- 5 am- 8am and 5pm till 9 pm.
6. They have 2 huge floors filled with equipment I've never seen before. It's all high tech stuff that the University of Miami Sports Medicine supports.
7. None of the equipment is broken. When it is they fix it immediately whereas 24 hour fitness has a ton of equipment that's always broken.
8. They have an in house Mediterranean cafe with great prices and a healthy menu.
9. They offer training at only $40 /hr whereas you pay almost $60/hr at 24 hr fitness.
10. The place has AC !
11. The water fountains conveniently located offer cold water all the time.
12. The gym is always empty.
13. Offers the best views over the 836. The sunsets are amazing.
14. They offer all the latest classes like Zumba etc
15. You get to work out with all the Doctors from Jackson Memorial hospital and the University of Miami hospital!! And they're super good looking. So if you're single you have no excuse!!
I've tried to hide this secret gem... But I must share it with you!!!

If people rate this higher than 2 stars, they have never been to a good gym. Admittedly Miami is full of gyms with bad equipment, and gym owners who obviously don't know or care to have good equipment. Life Fitness can't make a machine to save their life. 95% of the machines are garbage. Try hand selecting pieces from Panatta, Atlantis, Pendulum, Power lift, Flex Fitness/Star Trac, a few pieces from Cybex are good.... Life Fitness is the worst, along with Hoist and Technogym garbage.

One of the nicest gyms in Miami, It is on the 9th Floor of the UM Soffer Research Center and has a full 180 view of Miami, It is an all glass building which makes the view even better.

The machines are well maintained and never overcrowded, You rarely have to wait for a machine which is an issue in many other gyms, A nice perk is that you get a free towel every time you go into the gym, They also provide daily lockers for free.

Definitely recommend this gym especially if you work at the medical campus.
