While working & living in India 2013-2017, I was introduced to BKS Iyengar yoga studios in Mumbai & Pune and upon my return to the USA searched for a studio & teacher to continue my practice ... and I came upon Bobbi in Miami. I have practiced with Bobbi since 2017, and when the studio closed during Covid, Bobbi started doing classes on ZOOM which allowed me to continue practicing with her while living in Arizona (no more long & expensive travel to Miami needed). I consider myself quite lucky to be able to continue practising yoga with Bobbi on ZOOM classes, and am very grateful that I can continue to grow and learn from her immense yoga wisdom and teaching.

I came to the studio having no idea what yoga was about. While you can take a lifetime to begin to learn about yoga, you quickly realize that this is a special place where there are no judgements and all are welcome. Excellent studio and instructors

Bobbi Goldin and staff have been sharing the benefits of yoga since yoga became mainstream. They teach with intelligence, precision, and joy. This is a sanctuary of real yoga with classes geared to all levels. If you are interested in cultivating a meaningful yoga practice, this is the place to go. They also offer high quality workshops, and have a mini boutique with one of a kind treasures. But the real treasure is this authentic space and community.

Bobbi and the staff at Yoga Institute of Miami have been an inspiration for years -- both in the high quality of teaching of yoga and of modeling a yogic lifestyle. No better place to come home to yourself!

When it comes to decide where to learn yoga, the personality of yoga teacher matters to me the most. Lahla is my yoga teacher at YIM. She just is absolutely wonderful! She always cares about you first, not about the money. She speaks affectionate language. Never ever I saw her use any harsh words. She is a yoga professional who knows a lot of yoga terms and techniques. But she always makes it easy for her students by explaining simply the terms and correcting your yoga practice directly (not just tell you do this do that and leave you alone). Lahla is very open-minded, she teaches you but she loves to learn from you too. It is difficult to describe her kindness in a short review but just so you know, I drive an hour in the traffic from my home to her yoga place just to learn yoga with her, I just can not find any nicer teacher than her. I wish Lahla and her family the best of the best!

Have been going to Bobbi Goldin's school since the 80's. Bobbi' and her teachers show real concern by watching for and assisting each individual student needing help with poses.

I first came to the Yoga Institute of Miami in the fall of 2015. Having never done serious yoga before and having just recovered from several orthopedic surgeries, I was a little apprehensive. I was drawn to Iyengar yoga specifically because I felt that its emphasis on proper form and alignment would help my body heal. The studio's excellent instructors, each of which have something unique to offer, all helped me get better in different ways. Everyone is so welcoming, kind, and accommodating. Yoga is in and of itself beneficial not just physically but also emotionally and mentally- and the instructors at this studio make it even more so. I'm so glad I decided to try it out and can't imagine I'll ever stop going.

Over 10 years ago, I moved to Miami, and while I did my review of the yoga scene, I found that Iyengar yoga and the Yoga Institute of Miami was a great place to continue my practice in the new city. If you practice or want to practice Ivengar yoga style, Bobbi Goldin is the most knowledgeable in this market.

The Yoga Institute of Miami is an amazing place, and over the last 3 or 4 years it’s become a second home to me. I remember walking in for the first time, familiar only with vinyasa classes, and telling the owner and primary teacher, Bobbi Goldin, that I was sort of flexible but wasn’t very strong and had awful balance. She welcomed me, handed me a mat, and gently and humorously corrected my alignment, and most importantly explained _why_ what she was showing me and the rest of the class made sense. The instructions and explanations were often peppered with stories about BKS Iyengar and what he had taught her. Bobbi has been teaching for almost 40 years, and everything she teaches she has tested in her own practice and in teaching thousands of students, each with different abilities, weaknesses, injury histories, and needs. One of the things I like best about YIM is that none of the teachers take a one-size-fits-all approach. No matter if the class has 25 students or 5 students, the practice is adjusted to individual bodies and personalities. All the instructors are well trained in Iyengar yoga, which places an emphasis on holding poses with a solid alignment that allows the body to open and strengthen and allows the mind to become aware not only of where the body is in space but also of the interplay of muscle, bone, and nerve. In Iyengar yoga, the poses become a physical meditation. I don’t want to give the impression, though, that YIM pushes any kind of spiritual practice. It doesn’t. Students come there with all sorts of backgrounds, beliefs, and non-beliefs. The atmosphere is easy going, and teachers and students frequently joke in class. It’s the most relaxed yoga studio I’ve found, but at the same time, everyone takes their practice seriously. It’s also a community in the true sense of that word. The students support each other and are welcoming to newcomers. In my experience, The Yoga Institute of Miami is unique. (I can’t pass up the opportunity for a shout out to the three teachers, besides Bobbi, with whom I’ve studied the most: Jeaneen Bell has an exquisitely sharp eye and an encyclopedic knowledge of sequencing and different ways to get into poses; Diane Beverley always comes up with instructions and examples that stay in my head and pop up when they’re most needed; and, Lee Lahla is clarity itself.) Give it a try!
I notice that a first-time student was unhappy and posted an ill-informed review on Google. This saddens me because the student misunderstood what class she was attending. There is a wonderful 8:00 a.m. Sunday class taught by Bobbi. It is one of only two level 2/3 classes taught weekly at YIM. I have been attending regularly for about 3 years, but some participants have been regulars for more than 30 years. The student, based on what she said was her experience level, was allowed to attend and was given substitute poses for headstand, which she does not practice due to an injury. The student appears to have been disturbed that she had walked into a class where the participants were doing a lot of work on inversions, but that is part of what a higher level Iyengar class does. Students who, for one reason or another, are not doing inversions that day are always given other poses to work on. I am sorry that this student didn't understand what a level 2/3 Iyengar class does. She would have probably been much happier in the level 1/2 10:30 a.m. Sunday class that followed it. (I usually go to both.) I urge the student to rethink her review. Bobbi Goldin has always been kindness itself to me and to my fellow students. The headstand practice with variations that made the student unhappy is a normal part of that class. It was not directed at her or intended to make her feel inadequate.

Every yoga studio has at least one student that is known to every teacher and the other practitioners because his or her name is called out by the teachers in their effort to assist the poor student to become better at yoga. I can proudly say I am that student at the Yoga Institute of Miami. When I first started attending classes approximately five years ago, I had the joy of hearing each teacher compassionately say I scared them. Through the patient guidance of the Yoga Institute’s outstanding teachers, most notably Bobbi Goldin, my yoga has steadily improved and I look forward to each class knowing that I am helping my body deal with the stresses of life. The proof of my improvement was revealed in the past year when my travels allowed me to attend yoga classes at other studios and I could follow the poses without a single teacher asking me my name.

I remember being told by Bobbi years ago that, as we age, we need to be more specific and careful about how we place our body in the universe. I have taken this message to heart, in both my yoga practice and my life. The attention to detail and care for the individual student that the instructors at Yoga Institute of Miami dedicate to each student have made me stronger, more flexible, better balanced, and able to breath easier in the chaos of life. Each teacher brings something different to the practice. The beginner series is an essential starting place for every yoga beginner, in my opinion. The welcoming atmosphere at the studio, great assortment of retail yoga clothing, and superb quality of instruction make this the only place I will practice yoga in Miami.

Back in 2005, my wife and I decided to try Iyengar yoga with Bobbi Goldin at the Yoga Institute of Miami. As a beginner who runs, bikes and plays tennis regularly, I was surprised by how much I enjoyed the yoga practice, in large part because of the positive spirits and camaraderie of the students and instructors. Through the years, my yoga practice has helped improve my posture, flexibility, stamina and breathing, to name just a few of the benefits. Bobbi is a great instructor who has given me many valuable pointers through the years. She is very responsive to the needs of each student, and every class is different, making the practice more enjoyable. If you're considering yoga to improve your health and fitness, you'll be in good hands with Bobbi Goldin!

I came to Bobbi's studio in 2008. And I've never left! Having done yoga prior to that, I had some idea of my flexibility but I had no body awareness as to proper form, balance and alignment. She and the other instructors take time to listen to me and ensure that I am reaping the most from the pose, even if it's a modified one. If you haven't, try a class with each of the instructors so you can learn something different from each of them! It's a great studio, the students who go are a community, and the overall feeling is welcome.

I've been practicing yoga for more than three years in several studios and never, never I' ve felt so unconfortoble. Bobby asked me several questions and spoke up clearly I was not welcome because her class was an advanced level and "her group" was always the same. I told her the only exercise I was not able to practice was the head stand not because I can't do is because I did it and injured me and I don't want practice it again. Bobby spent the class practicing several variations of head stand. I couldn't believe that, she can't teach anyone if she doesn't understand her student and the issues they have. Thank you Bobby, you won I'm not coming again to your class.

I have been a student of the Yoga Institute for fifteen years. I go two to three times a week. I used to have terrible lower back problems and weak knees, and now I don't thanks to the excellent instruction from Bobbi and her team. Bobbi is a senior Iyengar teacher with almost 40 years of experience who's studied directly under BKS Iyengar. She keeps up to date with her own practice and yoga studies, and continually passes her knowledege on to us. Although her classes are very serious, the energy and atmosphere of the room is always light and playful. There's real joy in my practice as she nurtures a real sense of community
