I canceled my membership in October 2023 because I moved to another state and today I noticed my credit score dropped 30 points. Turns out they were continuing to charge me, even though they removed my bank account information (BECAUSE I CANCELED) so the auto-draft wasn't happening, and sent $112 to collections. I had no idea, no e-mail, nothing. They just secretly charged me and then sent it to collections.

This is after I was told that I didn't "cancel my personal training in time", so I paid them an additional $260 for 4 sessions I couldn't even use just to make sure my account remained in good standing. What a joke.

It seems like the staff here is not supported by the equipment repair team. Pulley machines being down for months with another one hanging on by a thread. This is not complex equipment and should be properly repaired within a week or 2 at the most. There is also a lack of accessories for these machines with some just rigged together.

Never sign up you will live to regret it. It’s impossible to cancel and then they will sell your “debt” to a debt collector and try to ruin your credit. I wish this place the WORST!!!

Cable machines are the most utilized pieces of equipment in the gym period. They place an out of order on it and it sits there unusable for weeks to several months according to people that have been using the gym for a period of time and some of the trainers. Cable machines working parts consist of a cable, a pulley, and a lock pin. Very simple. So now a very large fines center is down to 1 crossover cable machine for the entire clientele. Just unacceptable.

I joined back in 2023 and at that time I signed to do personal training. In 2025 I had to stop due money problems. I canceled the personal training contract on 08/26/25 to avoid any fees. I had to come back on 09/09/25 to sign manually because the electronic cancelation didnt go thru. On Sunday Sept 28th 2025 I got a notification from my bank that my bank had dropped below zero. To my surprise youfit took out $260.00 dollars for personal training that I cancelled on 08/26/25. I went into the location on monday 09/29/25 and spoke with the manager. She stated she had not got to it yet and she had to work with compliance team to resolve this matter. Now my bank account is in the negative with an overdrawn with an unnecessary fee. I want my money back with the overdraft fee refunded

I have been with Youfit for over 10 years even though I rarely go; so, I am more a monthly contributor so to speak. I pay for 2 and had not been for a long time. My wife went this morning to the one at 14979 Tamiami Trail in North Port, FL. In the middle of her workout, she was removed from the treadmill and told to leave because I (being the primary) was not with her. Because we rarely go, we were unaware of this guideline. That being said, things could have and should have been handled differently. It could have been as easy as this ... "we see that you have been a loyal member with us for over 10 years, we will allow you to complete this workout, but just know that for next time, the primary on the account needs to be present with you". Instead of using that kind of common sense the young girl with the ponytail and bad teeth at the front counter embarrassed my wife by removing her from the machine in front of everybody. Because of this you lost a client/donator who's been faithfully paying (without ever missing a payment) for over 10 years despite rarely attending the establishment. Never again for Youfit if that's how you treat long time customers and I will make sure I tell as many people as I can about this bad experience there.

I wish I didn’t sign up but I did. It has convenient location and cheap price. That’s it. Front desk (girls) are rude. Music so loud I can’t hear my own headphones. Cleaning lady always cleaning while we are training and the smell gives me a headache. Too strong chemicals used. Why can’t she clean after hours? Equipment always under maintenance. And it is always hot! A/C not working?? Fix it. Who wants to workout in 90 degrees inside?

I had one of the most frustrating and confusing experiences with this location. I downgraded my membership and was told I needed to put my EFT on file or pay a $3.95 processing fee. Fine, I did that. Then I canceled through the ABC email on 7/7, with my 30-day notice making my last payment 7/30 and my last day of use 8/29. That all made sense… until 9/2, when I was randomly charged $3.95 again.

I called for clarification and the staff member first guessed it was a processing fee, then changed her answer to maybe a late fee. Neither made sense, since I had already paid on time back in July. I was then passed to the manager, who told me my last payment was 8/30 (which contradicted my cancellation email). Wanting to be cooperative, I paid over the phone—but later checked my ABC email and confirmed that my last payment should have been 7/30, with my account ending 8/29.

I called back to clear it up, apologized for the confusion, and requested a refund for both the $3.95 and the extra monthly charge. The manager then admitted she was “all over the place” and that my account “was saying a lot of things,” and told me she’d call me back. That was the end of it—no resolution, no refund, no confirmation that my membership is even canceled.

This has been nothing but a headache. Between the misinformation, random charges, and lack of professionalism, I would not recommend

DONT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY! Life happened and got busy so I haven’t gone to the gym for a while, they were still getting paid per usual. When I went to go cancel, they charge you for every little thing and make it incredibly difficult. You can’t call the North for branch to cancel, you have to email someone and they take forever to get back and then nickel you and dime you for everything. Don’t give them your money don’t trust them.

I joined this gym less than a week ago, I did not sign a contract it’s strictly month-to-month. I had full intentions to move to North Port this weekend and my little brother committed suicide so I had to say close to my parents to help support the funeral. I called the gym and ABC financial and told them the situation and I would gladly pay for the whole month, however, I shouldn’t have to pay the $80 annual fee considering I’ve only used the gym four times and I will never be back there again. I spoke with Kenzie (general manager) and she was very rude and disrespectful about it. I pleaded with them asking if there’s anything I could do as all my money is going to be tied up Into my brother‘s funeral and there was nothing they could do to help me. I don’t think it’s fair that I should have to pay over $100 for 4 day ms of use after I canceled less than a week later, and remember this is not a contract agreement, it’s month to month. Everybody there is extremely rude About my situation and just rude in general. They should never have an annual fee 30 days after enrollment. This is pure robbery and this is the only gym I’ve ever seen do it. They claim there’s nothing they can do but I know there is because I’ve worked at a gym before that used ABC For their financials. They’re receiving a one star review for the rude customer service, especially Kenzie, no sympathy for my situation, I ask her very nicely and I told them I had no problem paying for a full month even though I’ve only used it four days but they want to take over $100. I will also be calling all the news stations and going public on social media because this needs to be made public because I’m sick of local residents getting robbed by these greedy corporate gyms. Kenzie is one of the worst club managers I’ve ever encountered and I have been a member at over 17 clubs over the last couple decades And I’ve never met someone as disrespectful as her

This was my daughters experience....
First I tried to downgrade my membership a couple times and they would tell me it was downgraded and it was not and kept charging me for the advanced membership. Now I am trying Now I am Cancelling due to moving away was terrible, you can’t cancel in club, they make you call an automated number that you have to go through a bunch of steps then you get a person that says they have to put you on hold to check the cancellation procedures. Then they come back and tell me that I have a $10 cancellation fee. Then told me they could not process it until the next day and hung up on me while I was waiting to complete the survey.
This was mine a couple years later after giving management another chance. I emailed on June 16th to cancel my membership. They charged me on June 16th and they are saying the will charge me on 07/16 again due I have to give a 30 day notice. If you look at a calendar... from 6/16 to 7/16 is 31 days. I emailed them back for a phone call and no response.

I’m not one to write reviews but this is the worst gym I’ve ever dealt with. Do not waste your time getting a membership here.Ive been trying to cancel since November,I’ve emailed the third party company responsible for membership status three different times. I’ve called the gym four times asking for assistance in canceling. They are still charging me 32 a month. The associates are nice, just awfully unhelpful. Seems they have an issue with memberships that get canceled or suspended. Noticed that I was still being charged which I thought was suspended till we return in the fall. They were notified yet noticed that even after we had to change cards due to security reasons they got 3 months charged onto my new card! Tried to call them from our home up north and got some unprofessional kid who refused to address things and wouldn't transfer me to a supervisor or manager. Thank God we have status with our bank and are now clawing back funds going back 4 or 5 months. Very disappointing as we had no issues and had only visited the club which is the most convenient to our house. Guess they don't want us back. Sorry that it came down to bank actions and placing a 1 star review into the system on them but that's on them. Sometimes doing what's right is uncomfortable. Just be aware of all the comments about this issue as I see they have plenty but haven't addressed it. Going somewhere I can trust and does proper business.

This place used to be good many years ago. Now its run by unprofessional scammers that greet you with a smile.

You sign up for a membership and they have you sign up for yearly contracts without your knowledge! Good luck trying to cancel with them because every manager has the same scripted response and you can only buy out your term. I did not know they are essentially leasing gym memberships now.

They run a horrible business plan here. Avoid it at all costs and you will have better luck going somewhere else.

I would like to give a zero but they don't let me, I have had the worst experience in this gym, I made the membership with my daughter because she was a minor and I had to accompany her, a while later I went to cancel the membership, a young girl with curly hair attended me, she looked on the computer and told me that it was already canceled, however they continued to deduct every month so I came back here again, I told them the same thing, and nothing happened, I continued paying, I called my bank to suspend the payment, then they have been calling me to pay my debt, today I paid it to avoid more stress, I would have really liked to make a claim but I don't count on it, just MAKE SURE WHEN YOU WANT TO CANCEL YOUR MEMBERSHIP IN THIS PLACE, THAT THERE IS PHYSICAL PROOF THAT YOU DID IT, great disappointment

SCAMMERS ! I went there 2 times only to try , they told me to sign up for 0.25 cents a week to try this gym, I did but then cancelled as per their policy. They keep charging my card year later . Now they opened a new membership account under my name and still charge me for a new whole year. It is impossible to cancel it. They send you back and forth to call some numbers , when you call there, they sending you back to YouFit representative to resolve it. The staff are friendly and the membership is affordable. Great equipment, from beginners to power lifters you can find the equipment you need.

Edit: one thing that could improve is having heavier dumbbells available. The old squat rack gets very little use, I’d love to see that gone and some bigger dumbbells take their place.

I really like this gym so much when you are greeted by a friendly woman named Tammy who always has a smile on her and makes you so welcomed. I have met so many great friendly people who always are willing to help and cheer you on. I also have a wonderful trainer named Nick who has helped with self confidence and abilities that i thought i would never be able to achieve. I am very thankful to him to work with me he has great patience and understanding. I had never done any thing like this before and yes i am a very much a senior. I have been going here since it opened. I love Tammy at the front desk. She greets everyone as they come in with a bubbly good morning & knows everyone's name! Same when you leave. She's so nice & professional! As far as the gym, it's frustrating when you want to use machines that are always broke & stay that way for months. I use to enjoy this gym till they started policing paid members. I was stopped twice and told my badge does not work. The first time I was humiliated while working out I was Called me out in front everyone. I have had problems while using the app to work out. Now I have a physical card and still it doesn’t work. I have called management twice, left my name and number for them to return my call and never received anything, but once you miss a payment they will hound you down, even though I have a yr membership. We have 3 memberships from my household and we will not be renewing. It seems as though they messed up while putting in my payment method as well, and blamed me for not paying and then started adding more fees monthly. Thankfully I had my agreement to prove otherwise. Also, a lot of their cardio equipment are also always down and everything is packed together like sardines., it a very small space.

Terrible customer service.
I opened the membership for my 16 year child, when I first signed up they get you to signed up to the highest, most expensive membership they have, then once you realize that your kid doesn’t need all of that - you personally go there to DOWNGRADE because you can not downgrade over the phone - you have to pay a Fee to DOWNGRADE even though I pay $53 dollars and some change to sign up and then paid $24 dollars monthly for the premium membership & I had to pay for downgrading to Basic membership- again ok, fine
So I payed to DOWNGRADE…
Now 3 months later I check my bank statements and see that I have been continuing to pay over $23 a month and when I called to bring that to their attention- Autumn the manager ( not even sure that’s her real name )
Has a cut throat attitude she tells me that they do not have the downgrade in their system and the manager has a terrible attitude about it- even though I tell her I have the e-mail that was send to me on the day I downgraded. She Still says there is nothing she can do because it is not in their system. I said wow you/ or your staff dropped the ball and you are telling me there is nothing you can do? I want a refund or credit for the money I’ve been charged after I made the downgrade!
She said I need to come in and downgrade- I said no, I am coming in and you’ll fix your mistake.
Did not seem like she care- now after reading some of the other reviews it seems this is a common practice of them.
Hidden fees- been sneaking about their membership, rude management ,etc-

that is not how you conduct an honest business.

Only opened the membership for my teenage kid.
I’ll probably be walking in to cancel it since it seems they won’t refund the over payments .

Zero stars. I’ve been going there for 2 months and my 12 and a half year old daughter will sit on the bench quietly because she doesn’t meet the age requirement of 13.im a single mom and i went to the gym everyday. Now today all of a sudden out of the blue it’s a problem. It wasn’t a problem when I asked before I joined the gym. It wasn’t a problem when they took my money.”they changed there policies” but I had zero warning and I don’t see it anywhere in my contract I signed. The district manager Dan is not a nice person. I paid my yearly fee of 53 dollars 2 weeks ago and now I can’t even attend the gym now and they won’t refund the money. And they won’t let me cancel the membership.

The gym is so so. Many people do not clean off the equipment when finished working out on it. There are people that slam the weights even when there are signs that clearly state not to do so! No gym etiquette by patrons at all! Equipment always seems broken or people who just sit on their phones with no regard to anyone else trying to work out.My membership is actually very inexpensive however you get what you pay for. My other concern is seeing trainers in there training people incorrectly plus a few of them look like they need a personal trainer themselves!! Do better YouFit on your employee selection! I only have a few months left on my membership and then I will be changing to a different gym.

Worked out with Trainer Anette. Her testimony is amazing. The knowledge to target more muscles groups with one exercise is on point. I left a session with her and felt it days after, and I am in pretty good shape. If you have a chance to workout with her, you won’t regret it. Lots of ENERGY!!!

I went here, despite it being a 40 minute round trip from my house, as they have a Silver Sneaker trainer. Was ready for my first session but it was only a small amount of paperwork. Scheduled for my first session and I was 30 minutes early. I had to wait as the trainer was busy but I was promised that my session would start at 10:00 as scheduled. At 10:30 I told them to cancel my 10:00 session and left. Never heard anything more from them.

Worst experience I ever had at a gym, they need to go out of business, this is the worst gym company ever, don’t ever ever ever sign up with them, business wise they have some bad policies for customers, will send debt collectors calling you over and over and even go as far as reporting to the credit bureau, over a $50 debt, which is due to their policy, please explain how someone can cancel 20 days early and they charge you with yearly membership, when one has only been a member for less than a month and charge for a new month, please save yourself the headache, just go to la fitness and nature

I have been a member of youfit for many years and go six days a week. The staff is nice. However, After this location replaced the roof the place has not been cleaned and this includes the bathrooms. It is unsanitary and I can’t imagine that is would pass a health inspection. Hopefully this issue will be addressed!

I really want this to be a five-star review but, sadly, it's not. I've worked out at the Port Charlotte location for over a year, and have enjoyed the large facility and abundant machines / weight stations. The North Port location is about half the size of Port Charlotte, with at least as many patrons. Translation: the North Port gym is always crowded and machines are always at a premium. Yes, I've visited at varying times and it doesn't matter. The place is always packed. It's generally clean and the people are friendly, but for actually working out, It's way too small.

The website advertises a range of fitness classes, but once I signed up, they shared the actual class schedule for this location and it it was two classes a day, all for HIIT and at times really not convenient for working professionals. Then cancelling is a nightmare. There were many fees tucked away in the fine print that screwed me over

I have been training at YouFit North Port for nearly 6 months and have had a great experience working with Emit Meade. He has extensive experience and teaches me how to create mind muscle memory, focus on time under tension, and positivity to keep me motivated. He challenges me and is always supprtive of getting to the next step in an organized and systematic way. No matter where you are in your journey Emit will help you reach your goals. My body has changed significantly in just 6 months- and we are just getting started!

The gym is always clean, and has a nice array of equipment and free weights. They offer classes, and personal training. The hours are suitable for most schedules.

I only tried planet fitness before this gym and didn't like it very much because planet fitness only has mostly treadmills :/ but Youfit has way more machines and space, therefore I prefer Youfit way more. One thing I wish was different tho would be the broken machines that they never fix. These machines have been broken ever since I got the membership...

I've been working with Nick as my personal trainer since October 2021 and he's been super awesome at creating the right training program for me as a beginner. The gym also recently got the new turf which has been amazing for training and classes. The staff all know your name when you come in - feels like family!

Update July 2022: I began working with Emmit in June after Nick went on to do bigger things in life. Emmit has been AMAZING. If you're looking for a trainer that loves what he does and gets you results, Emmit is your man! Fitness has been his passion since he was nine years old! Go train with him - you'll be glad you did!

I have been coming to the North Port Youfit for a little over a year now. The gym is always clean and the staff is always friendly and supportive.

I train with Victor and I am continuously impressed with his knowledge. I have lost 93 lbs (and counting!) and at 40 years old, I am stronger than I have ever been in my life. I never had any intentions of enjoying my time at the gym. It was just a means to an end, but my time with Victor has changed my perspective completely. If you are intimidated by the gym and looking for a way to ease into it, I strongly suggest setting up some sessions with Victor. He will set you up for success!

I've only been going for about a month now, but this place is great. It's a pretty small gym, but it puts the space to great use, and in my short time here, they've already added a few more Stair Masters and rowing machines, as well as extended mirrors to the far section next to the turf.
Everyone who works here is extremely friendly and helpful and it's so easy to come in and just get to it.

Some things I hope for, in the future, are some more abdominal and core-based resistance machines. There are two main machines between the (admittedly, nicely organized) upper and lower body sections, and it would be cool to get some more - maybe some oblique focused machines too - Ab Coasters, for example. Oh, and a Jacob's Ladder or two would be absolutely killer! Still a great selection though, for such a small space.

***EDIT: Showers seem to have a great supply of warm water now!***

Besides that, my only other gripe is the showers - while clean, typically available, and definitely nice to have - don't supply a lot of warm water; usually only about a minute/minute-and-a-half's worth. Not the end of the world, but I do hope they can improve their hot water supply soon.

Other than that, phenomenal gym. Glad I joined.

Joined again (had a membership before covid) and they aren't any better. Some machines have been replaced but with worse ones...Ones that don't have any fans or TV 's. Also, have seen plenty of customers neglect to clean machines even though we have told the people at the front desk. But I don't know why I thought that would help since most trainers when training the new people don't show or tell them to clean the machines. The AC seems to have been turned up since they had a condensation problem. And to too it all off, the majority of customers are in their 40s and up yet they play the horrid pop music of today when they should have a diverse playlist.

Victor is an excellent trainer/coach/guide and teacher. I’m one of his many satisfied and I might add, impressive clients.

I described myself as “impressive” because I have benefited greatly by his tutelage and others cannot help but notice and comment. I’m now 70 years old and could possibly be in the best shape ever. Because I had fractured my tibial plateau a few years ago, I had more or less resigned myself as “grateful to be standing and able to get around.” But Victor has helped me improve my overall fitness levels and keep pushing forward toward new goals. I’m not winning any body building competitions or smoking any runners in our local 5K races but I am stronger, can lap swim 3/4 of a mile and even walk a 5K in 50 minutes. I highly recommend Victor if you want to improve yourself. Of course, you will have to put in the hard work too because that’s just the way it is when you are a human being.
