The owner spoke with me candidly and was happy to explain how their options could pan out. Not my favorite, but its a business - they're choice is their choice. So I'm going up to 4 stars for now and hopefully can change that again soon.

NEVER GO TO THIS GYM!!! PREDATORY BUSINESS PRACTICES!!! I followed all procedures to cancel my membership with this gym, and they still attempt to charge me every month. Even after a year later, they still are attempting to charge my account after I closed it (Definitely fits the description of harassment). The owner threatened to send this imaginary bill that I “owe” them to collections. Spontaneously more charges appeared on account after my conversation with the owner, that weren’t on my account before. In order to cancel my membership, the owner told me I had to pay these made up charges totaling about 300 dollars for him to cancel my membership. When I told him I’m not going to, then he threatened to send my “bill” to collections unless I paid him 97 dollars. Which further confused me. I’m now going to report this predatory business practice to the FTC, BBB, and the Florida AG. I highly recommend anyone looking for a gym to never use Zone Fitness. To summarize, zone fitness and the owner of this location Tim Forest are highly unprofessional, predatory, harassing, and money grabbing shills. Additionally, the only reason I got a membership was to help my father go to the gym. I am a caregiver for him due to the fact that he’s a disabled combat veteran. Come to find out, the gym strong armed me into a membership. Never offering or informing me that they are legally obligated to let the caregiver of an individual assist them at the gym with no further costs. Especially if the disabled person’s has silver sneakers. So heads up to all individuals using silver sneakers, zone will not fully honor it.
Ps. I expect to have Tim respond. And I expect him to deny my story outright. But Tim, I have the conversations between us showing you’re use of predatory business practices. Trying to scare and intimidate the caregiver of a disabled combat veteran into paying an imaginary fee added on by the superfluous owner.

Great gym and it's a good fit for me. I like to do my own workouts using the large variety of equipment available. The equipment is clean, not like some of the other local gyms and people take the time to wipe down after each use. I've been going there well over 5+ years and had to freeze my membership a few times due to injuries or medical issues. They are great to work with and a very friendly staff.

Solid locally-owned gym, but avoid recurring charges

Pros: Zone offers well-maintained, clean equipment in a spacious environment. Good personal trainers (Josh is great, especially if you’re interested in weight lifting). Convenient hours of operation.

Cons: Zone's recurring charge cancellation process was overly-cumbersome, required multiple daytime visits, and took multiple months to properly cease billing. My personal losses = $1100+

My recommendation: if you must do business with Zone, do it on a pay-as-you-go basis and you’ll likely be fine.

This is a great fitness club which offers a very clean environment with equipment that is professionally maintained. Unlike the YMCA locations in the East Lake and Trinity areas, all equipment is spotless and in perfect working condition. Stay away. They don’t provide receipts or confirmation for cancellations. Posted official email is not valid. I was charged a $30 cancellation fee even though she hadn’t been there for nearly six months because she followed their instructions to freeze the membership. When I expressed my disagreement, they immediately labeled me as rude. My daughter injured her knee during the tournament and must halt all activities. The doctor has scheduled her for surgery. Unfortunately, this means she has to cancel her membership at Zone Fitness Club in Trinity. However, this is where the nightmare starts. The overall experience with their management has been frustrating. The staff lacks professionalism, and the cancellation process is unclear. My daughter has been shuffled between managers who are unavailable—some arrive too late or leave too early. Meanwhile, charges keep appearing on my account. The terms and conditions of the charges are not transparent. I do not recommend them.

My wonderful trainer is Carley. The reason why I go to that gym. She personable, kind, patient and knowledgeable of your abilities never putting you at risk to injure yourself. I am older and right from the start I had a connection with her very important for me. My knees are in bad shape, but she finds exercise that is not damaging, but effective . I have lost weight that I never could, before seeing her. She took my weakness worked around it and know I’m stronger then every physically and mentally .

Love the Zone! I’ve had poor experiences in gyms where I felt like running away but I was locked in ridiculous contracts. At Zone I found there were zero pressure sales, no judgement from other members , excellent personalized training if you want it and very good equipment in a gym that carries an upbeat (but not over the top) energy that makes you want to come back.

Step one, get motivated and just go through the door. I tell myself this 4x a week because I'm lazy, then I have a great workout. Zone is an excellent gym. The equipment is clean, organized and has everything you need. The staff and trainers are friendly, the people and community are great. Not a over the top commercial gym which makes it shine! I've been to many commercial gyms and local gyms and zone is def worth it.

DISSAPOINTED, STAY FAR AWAY. I have been at this gym for 2ish years.... I have multiple gym memberships because i love fitness and i go 6-7 times a week and love a change in atmosphere. I decided to cancel zone because the utilities are run down - if equipment is broken they toss it instead of replacing it, the hours are not competitive in comparison to other companies. NOT TO MENTION i had to pay 80 bucks to quit! what. a. joke. They suck money out of their clients- but where does this money go? they have like 5 employees (if that) in trinity, and have 1/3 of the equipment as other gyms... I advise you look at similar reviews to mine - and stay far away from this company. Take your money to a gym that invests in itself…

I got scammed as hard as possible by the lady who owns this gym. She said she canceled my membership verbally over the phone. She said no need to come in because I explained to her I moved out of town and she confirmed cancellation. She then proceeded to try and charge me $20 a month for the next 10 months making my bill $200 then she sent my info to a debt collector and messed up my credit. All because I moved out of town and canceled my membership. Nothing can be reversed and that is now on my credit history. I’m disgusted, I’m so tempted to take legal action, I feel so scammed. Not to mention the gym itself is disgusting, outdated, and overpriced. Please if you consider going to this gym read the paper they give you and read it again because looking back I blatantly set my self up to be scammed. Also do a walk around and try out the equipment. It’s all budget equipment. I’m a pretty big guy and have never had problem fitting in a leg press machine but theirs is so tiny and budget friendly. Zone do not respond to this you are disgusting.

Been a member of gyms for decades and this is one of the best around. Always super clean, great staff and Kathy goes above an beyond to make your gym experience a positive one. They value their members so yes, it’s worth having to pay a yearly maintenance fee. On 4/27/22 a week after joining, I was locked out of Zone Fitness during posted hours. On June 8th 2022, after 10pm, there was a young 5-6 year old little girl BAREFOOT in the gym running around unattended. On 9/7/22 I was accosted by gym employee for merely asking to turn on the fan overhead. I called the owner Tim Forrest on 9/8 and explained what happened. Told him I needed to be assured I'd have a safe space to work out, especially since I had health challenges. He apologized & stated he would make sure it didn't happen again. Returned to gym on 9/13 AGAIN I was harassed & intimidated by the same female employee. Clearly, she was emboldened to treat me even worse since there are no consequences for Angry Employees at Zone Fitness. When I left, I texted Mr. Forrest to report how I was treated. I repeatedly asked him to review his security footage (as I had the first time I contacted him) to confirm this SAME employee's behavior. His reply the next day was he investigated & addressed claims and his club is a safe place. On September 16th I sent a certified letter requesting a FULL refund for annual membership that I prepaid. I included a screenshot of my phone call to gym the night I was locked out, an actual photo of the very young girl BAREFOOT unaccompanied in the gym and a detailed account of our communications. Mr. Forrest breached the contract and most importantly, could not provide a SAFE SPACE to work out in his gym. There was never acknowledgement of any wrong doing by this same week night Female Employee who was working on all 4 occasions described above. I did not receive a refund as requested. He refuses to address the video footage of his Feral Female employee aggressively came at me into my personal space multiple times while working out on machines. I have filed a Complaint with State of Florida & BBB in attempt to get a full refund. I can only assume this Errant Employee is a family member, friend of the family or member of an associates family. There is no other explanation for any business to allow this grossly negligent behavior. The owner, Mr. Tim Forrest, is severely lacking in Business Acumen and is leaving himself open for Liability due to his lack of Ethical Behavior.

I agree with the other bad reviews. They advertise "only pay one month after you cancel," but trick you into paying your $50 "annual fee" by REQUIRING 3 months. So it's basically the same as paying it up front, because you'll have no choice...I was a member for one month, paid around $80 to sign up and $80 again to cancel, plus the monthly fee...absolutely ridiculous and I won't even bother using my last two months. Not to mention the fact that when I said I didn't want personal training (twice) they sat me down to talk about it AND called my personal phone to pressure me further.

Excellent! The best Fitness club! I am very stringent on cleanliness and this club is the cleanest I have ever been to. They are family owned and operated and really listen to their customers input. I love the fact that they are open late in the evening , because I do not get out of work until 6 p.m. and I have plenty of time to work out. The fact that they are open late is a huge Plus for me and many of the members that go there.

I have been training with Kate Capra for almost a year now and she has been excellent! I have learned so much from her and have experienced noticeable results. For years I did the same workout just using the circuit machines and an exercise bike. Hi, I had the chance to have my first Gym experience with Zone Fitness. Unfortunatly i had to leave after 3 weeks because of some personal staff. (I am not from the US and had to go bsck home). But I had such a great time there! Everyone was super helpful and open to get to know the members. I had Nicco and Kate as Trainers and each Session was amazing with them! If i could stay longer I would defenetly do that! A Big Thank you to the Team! I really miss you!

I've worked out in many gyms over the years. I absolutely LOVE The Zone. The gym has a wide variety of equipment that is well maintained, clean, and available to be used by all members. The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and fun to be around. The gym culture is friendly and down to earth. The members encompass a wide variety of ages and comprise all fitness levels. The Personal Trainers are all FANTASTIC! I have personally had the pleasure of working out with Nicco Stacy during the past 2 years. He's amazing. With Nicco's help , I have exceeded fitness levels that I had once thought were beyond my reach. I've never felt better or been in better shape. Not only has Nicco increased my athletic ability, but he has helped me work through several chronic injuries by strengthening my muscles, tendons and ligaments. Nicco puts together a training program that crushes all personal fitness goals and he makes it fun as well! All I can say is ...Don't hesitate...You're worth it!!!!!

FEES! The club is giving me a very hard time. I am trying to cancel my membership since April 2020. Sent two emails requesting cancellation which has been ignored, nobody replied and they kept charging me fees. I went into the club and the owner stated that their policy does not accept email cancellations, there was no other way to cancel the membership and there was a note at the front desk stating to reach them through email regarding membership issues. The owner wanted me to sign the cancellation letter with todays date which I did not agree to because I cancelled few months back. I could not find an agreement with the management so I asked my bank to block transactions from Zone Fitness. The club sent me to collections and a bill of almost $300! I guess we'll end up in court. Please be aware everyone!

they do not explain their policies when signing people up and then when you try to cancel you get “you dont know about contracts” or “your lying about how your sign up went”. there are countless reviews about how the manager, Cathy, is a rude and unprofessional woman who berates customers, she told my mother who is a manager at a realty company that she doesnt know about contracts when my mom was trying to get them to be reasonable about their cancellation policy which they NEVER EXPLAINED. I would much rather recommend literally any other gym in the area, the greed and lack of humanity at this establishment is astonishing !

While I fully admit I missed one sentence on the website when signing up, it would've been nice to have received ANY reminder communication that an additional payment was upcoming like every other business provides. To be honest, it hasn't just been that. I was put off by talking down about another establishment I go to as complimentary training while trying to sell me on personal training at Zone. There are better values elsewhere. I will be in this weekend to cancel.

I've had a good experience over the past four years. The facility is clean, the equipment up to date. I'm sure there are clubs with more modern equipment, and that cost is passed on to the member. The rate is reasonable, the staff friendly and it's located next to Publix. I get a twofer every time I go workout!

Awesome gym. Great equipment and the cleanest gym I've ever been too. Everything is very constant. Friendly knowledgable staff. My wife does the classes and she is a trainer at another gym and loves them. Tim the owner trained me a few times and he is extremely knowledgeable and friendly.

Wife and I have been members since April 2015. After covid my wife refused to return. We went to cancel my wife's membership only and spoke with Cathy . I do not have words to describe our conversation. She charged my wife on June 3rd for May. Then charged her one month to cancel plus the 41.75 equipment fee that is due FROM July 19 2020 till next July 2021. Her reasoning was our billing is on the 20th of the month she had to pay a last month which brings her to July 20th therefore she must pay NEXT YEARS equipment fee. My wife paid it just to end it. When I got home i pulled up our agreement from 2015. When we signed up we PAID THE LAST month up front. Went back to Cathy to show her the agreement. Her response was " my wife's membership that she cancelled will now be good till August." Tim...this is no way to treat customers. The last month was paid up front ,my wife should have been charged 25.00 and that is it. She hasn't been in the club since the end of Feb. Cathy accused me of not understanding how a business works. Owing my own business for 30 years Tim I can tell you I have never treated a customer the way in-which my wife was treated. btw...the agreement we signed has no mention of 30 day cancellation. Very disappointing Tim we thought better of you.

Terrible experience with the owner who is incredibly rude and unprofessional. My wife commented on one of their FB posts and he first accused her of not being a member and then said that she was trying to get out of paying a 30-day cancelation fee, which is just ludicrous. We canceled our memberships because of the way the owner treats his clients.

worst gym ever, i am being charged for a service i cannot use. Tru Fit sold to Zone and i never received notification. Zone cancelled my personally training without notice. When called, i was told we are supporting the gym and the employees. What employees, the trainers are paid on commission of who they train, so actually we are supporting the management staff, that has no interest in the members of the gym or notifying them of changes, but members are suppose to support them. I was told we are putting food on the employees tables, when i have been let go from my job and nobody is supporting me or my family. Bad deal and worse management. Dont trust them to do what is your best interest, but what is in there best interest. Lifetime Fitness may be expensive but at least they care about the members. I have cancelled my membership here and if anyone ever asks I will never recommend this gym.

I initially joined Zone Fitness to train for indoor rowing races. It was the only club in the area that offered several Concept 2 ergs, which allowed me to work out with a rower friend (by connecting the machines via Bluetooth, we could even race each other). Rowing machines are usually not very popular in most gyms, and I would often find a single one stuck in some cramped corner. At 6'4", it would be difficult for me to use my full stroke range, and, on occasion, avoid being bumped by other members while using the machine. At Zone the setup is perfect: there's plenty of space, the mirrors on two sides allow me to monitor my form, and, most importantly, I've never had to wait to use the machine. The ergs are always well maintained and clean (as is all other equipment in the gym), and there are many other choices for cross-training: ellipticals, stationary bikes, and a long lineup of treadmills. The atmosphere in the club is low-key, and even on busier days it doesn't feel crowded. Kathy welcomes members of every age and ability, and is attentive and personable with everyone. I am very happy to have found this club, and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Whatever you do, don't give them your credit card or sign up for a subscription. I have attempted on multiple occasions to cancel my subscription since July 2019 and the charges continue on my credit card. I have disputed this now with my credit card. Zone Fitness has turned this over to collections and now I am having to fight with the collections company. Ridiculous!!! Do not join this gym!

This place is a scam and I’d stay far away from it. Long story short I tried canceling twice and they always had an excuse or another fee that I had to pay before I can cancel. I unknowingly paid 10months after my 1st cancelation!!!! Went back in to cancel again and still oh wait there’s “next month you have to pay first” the manager lacks common sense and management skills and couldn’t say (you’ve only came twice in almost 2 years tried to cancel twice, ok your canceled) nope she says “well if you pay an additional 50+$ for this month and next I can cancel your account” that’s basic leadership skills! TL;DR
I love this place, treated kindly, great customer service, equipment and a clean atmosphere. People who are complaining about the cancellation fee are likely serial gym hoppers who didn't bother to read the contract THEY SIGNED. Not to mention, it was outlined to me clearly.

I am very surprised that I see so many one star reviews. Most of them have to do with the 25$ cancel fee, which I think is ignorant to no end. They were open with me about the fees that come across, and, although it was a confusing setup for the month-to-month or yearly thing and I don't completely remember everything, every effort was made by the team to help me understand.

People fail to understand that when you start, you sign a contract agreeing to everything they outline, including fees and other such things. If you didn't know about the fees, that is easily your fault, as the contract is in plain English and most of these people complaining can read (I think so at least)

So far, I've been treated kindly by every associate there and I have not had a single complaint. It would be nice if it was free to cancel and free to do this or that, but hey, they have like two locations and 500k+ worth of equipment so I think the prices are pretty reasonable for a non-enterprisey company. The personal trainers are great, (Shoutout to Nico) and the customer base is at least non-toxic. (no customer base is completely perfect, I work retail in Holiday (so yeah))

All in all, if you live in the area or just outside, this is a clean, friendly, great place to get in shape. 5*s

If you read most of the previous reviews you will find a pattern .. a pattern the owner either chooses to ignore or is oblivious to the obvious.
I explained that due to circumstances I was not able to get to the gym to cancel, but this was explained to me as, “not my problem.” So I was charged months without going ... whatever .. as bad as that was, I was told I need to pay nearly $100 to cancel!
I asked what exactly the “admin fee” of $50 was for and she had no answer. She is the owner.. you press “delete” .. admin duties complete! We have been to many gyms without such a ridiculous ending ... money spent for nothing hurts....
So the lesson here is, you think you’re getting a deal on the way in. In reality she will collect all the monies on your way out!
I know she will reply as she has in the past .. beginning with “Hello Mike, I’m sorry you had a bad experience .... yada yada yada”
Read your reviews and make a change for better customer service ... it is screaming in your face ...

$25 to cancel a month to month membership is ridiculous just as many others have mentioned in the comments. To add insult to injury, you can’t cancel over the phone you have to come in and cancel your month to month in person. I started on the 1 year membership, then began paying month to month thinking that I was free to leave whenever without penalty. I was so wrong! They don’t provide you with new rules and regulations for your month to month or tell you that there’s a $25 fee to cancel. As I have been reading the owners responses to other unhappy customers they say this policy is listed on their website. Ok well, thanks for letting me know that I needed to take more time out of my day to scrummage through your website to find your hidden agenda.

I didn’t want to insult them but this is an outdated facility. They don’t even have a legitimate water filtration system. Old school & unsanitary water fountains that make it almost impossible to fill water bottles. Spend your money elsewhere!

The female owner of the facility refuse to waive $25.00 cancellation fee even though I gave her notice of cancellation. She refuse to speak to me and instructed worker to charge me two month membership fee along with $25 cancellation fee even though I was on a month to month basis. My only complaint is the cleanliness, the walls and ceiling grid are accumulating dust pretty thick and this has been building over some time now and nobody has addressed this. It is not healthy for people to breath that stuff in, which I'm sure is floating around from all the fans that are going. That is not right for a health club not to stay on top of this.

After being a faithful member of Zone Fitness I chose to move on due to the lack of upkeep, the broken down equipment, and the filth that is building up on the walls and rafters. After paying up to $250 a month for 2 years I was hit with cancellation fee's totaling another $130.

The 2 stars that I did give are only because the facility is clean. Who in their right mind thinks that they can charge MORE to cancel than one months dues and not even bother to tell you that when you sign up. Also, how can they allow me to sign up my husband without him there, but will not let me cancel his membership without him there? Does not seem to make sense. On top of the ridiculous cancellation fee they throw in another annual fee! Don't be fooled by the low monthly cost, they will get your money by charging a fee for a fee... I'm so disappointed.

I like this place, Staff are well educated, so helpful. It's enough to know that I lost 3.5 lbs in One week, (without any workout) just after my free session with Joseph who told me about what I should eat and what I suppose to quit. This encouraged me to take 2 personal training sessions / week to learn me and to practice right. Also, Kathy was so helpful in teaching me how to use Myzone belt which is so helpful in telling me all the info that I need to know about burning calories while training.
I am so excited about this. I really recommend this club for all people live in Trinity and New Port Richey.

Have been a member since the club opened. State of the art fitness equipment and MYZONE heart rate system on site always like to see how many calories you are actually burning on the Big Screen TV's. Fun place to workout and make some new friends. Great trainers and many classes plus personal training.

If you are looking for people who are honest and honestly care about you this may not be the gym for you. Once they start to get your payments, it is very difficult to stop it and cancel your membership.
I could write a book on the issues I had and the time and energy it took to get it rectified. I requested they cancel my premiership (in person, in October) because of all the issues. They continued to charge me. When I realized that I was still be charged I called. They said they needed it in writing I sent a letter and then they charged me the annual fee, and 3 months gym fees (January, Feb, and Mar). When I spoke to the owner he assured me it would be rectified... umm yeah they cancelled 2 months fees (February and March) and still charged the annual fee. Very unprofessional and money grubbing. A shame because some of the staff members are really nice.

I joined a month ago and I LOVE this gym. I've been a member of many different gyms and this club has all the equipment one needs. Newer equipment. It's set up so you don't have to awkwardly stare at a stranger in between sets. I have about 40lbs to lose and am totally out of shape but here I feel I WANT to work out. I have yet to see a "superstar" following. Meaning I've felt intimidated before...(my own insecurities). I'm right at home here and today I spent 2 hours working out! I'm not affiliated with the company in any way.
The $15 per month is worth every cent.
It's clean. The staff is super nice. If there were 10 stars, I'd give them that. BTW my husband, his BFF who is currently residing with us is a retired NFL player, all 3 of us joined and the guys love it too.

Great friendly environment. They tell you everything upfront, and none of the fees are hidden. Great equipment, and they always listen to suggestions. Staff very friendly and helpful, if you are lost or confused they kindly show you how to use the equipment. They have everything you need for 15$ a month. DO NOT JOIN! If you are over weight in the slightest you are not treated like the rest. I got an initial tour and promised a lot of things (expanded times for childcare and one on one with someone on my first visit to learn how to use the equipment). Those things never happened. Waited out my whole contract and was still charged a cancellation fee.

Also, every time I brought my husband as a guest (which I could with the membership I had) he was bombarded with very aggressive telemarketing calls. After the first dozen within a month, I realized this is not a company I would want to do business with.

I find it amusing that the majority of the "great" reviews are from employees or the owner himself. This place is shady. Again do not join!

The club is still new and clean. Equipment is good. However, when had to cancel son's membership, debited from my account, was told son had to do it in person. So, he did. The cancellation was never done at the club level and account was debited. Owner/manager refused to refund or waive 25.00 cancellation fee. Not a great way to be successful in a new business. Oh..and wondering if all the other reviews came from employees since I see the owner wrote one!!!
