Gymnastics centerAbout the Club
The Atlanta School of Gymnastics was started by Tom Cook in 1976 and has been a member of the community for over 48 years. We have been competing in the USAG program for over 38 years and are grateful to have found some of the best coaches in our state to coach within our program. All of our coaches are professional members of USAG, background checked and safety certified through USAG.

This gym is not welcoming to boys. My son was a gymnast there for 11 years and reached level 10 in the men's competitive program all for the owner to notify the team parents by email that she was cancelling the program without warning. The owner is hostile in her communications and is being brainwashed by the girls head coach. If you have a male gymnast, take him to Roswell Gymnastics or Amplitude, those gyms really care about continuing to train gymnasts in this dying sport. The owner of ASG and girls head coach only care about the girls competitive program and are working to eliminate gym space allocated to other classes so the girls team has 99% of the gym space to train. The rec classes and camps are a joke and no more than a money grab.

Turns out Stacy Cook is another Anna Santiago.
Our son competed in the menβs team for a season. We were willing to overlook the older facility, and the fact that they treated the boys like second class citizens next to the girls (despite an amazing track record) β because they welcomed us after Intown Stars shut down due to the owner mistreating the staff / parents.
Here we are AGAIN, less than a year later, financially & logistically screwed over by yet another gym owner. They raised prices for the last month, then blindsided the parents by saying they were shutting down the menβs program. Let go of coaches with zero notice β including a coach of 40 years.
I couldnβt recommend this gym less. Go somewhere that actually takes care of their coaches.

Zero respect for the athletes, parents, or coaches. You are nothing more to them than a dollar sign to the owner of this gym. Sometimes business decisions have to be made, and sometimes programs have to be cut, I get it, but the owner of this gym showed that she doesn't care about anyone involved and instead made one last money grab before cancelling the entire men's program, by raising the price for the last month, then ending the program in the middle of the month. Not only that, but she didn't even have the decency to speak to anyone in person. Almost every male athlete in their program, all of their parents, and both men's coaches were all there for class on saturday, the kid's and the coaches were working hard on the floor for hours while the parents sat in the stands and watched, that would be a perfect time to talk to everyone and explain that you are ending a program and that people need to prepare themselves to look for other options. Not this person, she instead waits until 30 minutes after everyone leaves and sends a mass email informing everyone that the men's program is ending and that they only have a few classes left. That is how the athletes, the parents, and even the coaches (one of which has been coaching at that gym for 40 years!) found out that they no longer have a gym. This action makes it clear that no matter how much time, effort, or money you have put into this gym, she wants more, will give you less, and when she decides she's gotten what she wants, she will do the equivalent of breaking up with you through text.

Both my children went here for gymnastics, and they loved it. The classes were fun, and the coaches were nice. The facility and equipment were a bit old, but functional and safe. They also offer a variety of skill levels, so you can choose the ones that best fit your children. One thing I love about this place is that they offer boys' gymnastics classes. It's not easy to find a place that hosts boys-only gymnastics classes. Most gymnastics centers only accept girls or have co-ed classes. But ASG has boys' classes for all levels, both recreational and professional. We moved, so we are no longer with ASG. Unfortunately, I'm unable to find boys' gymnastics classes for my son near our new house.

I have been with ASG for 5 years. In the past year, there have been many changes, all positive. The owner has stepped back in, the people at the front desk have been so friendly and helpful, and the coaching staff is absolutely wonderful and really cares for my daughter. Her gymnastics has improved immensely. We love ASG and would recommend it to anyone!

ASG is a wonderful gym with caring coaches and staff. My daughter has been at ASG since January and we have found this gym to be a wonderful and supportive place. She loves her teammates, coaches, and staff.

Zero stars. Over the course of five months, from August 2023 through January 2024, my daughter learned very little. The gym owner, Stacy Cook, made several promises that were not kept and ensured my daughter was treated unfairly. Specifically, one of the Xcel coaches failed to train my daughter for multiple required competition skills. When I addressed this issue with Ms. Cook, she dismissed my concerns and did not take any action to resolve it.
Despite paying a significant amount of money for adequate training, my daughter did not receive the level of instruction we expected. Additionally, Ms. Cook was consistently rude and uncooperative when I tried to address these issues, ultimately forcing us to leave the gym.
This experience was deeply distressing and traumatic for my daughter, who loves gymnastics. Thankfully, weβve found another gym where she is happy and excelling nicely. Would NEVER recommend this gym.

I am really troubled and disappointed that my five-year-old niece had to go through this. She came to the gymnastics class not only to learn physical activities but also to make friends of different races. However, she has been treated differently just because of her skin color. During a gymnastics session, she got hurt in the eye, resulting in a black eye and impaired vision. Despite crying for help, her coach ignored her. I happened to be present that day and was shocked to see her condition. When I asked her what happened, she was trembling and unable to speak properly. The coach made us wait for an hour before even acknowledging us. My sister, who was also shaken by the incident, called the instructor to inquire about what had happened. However, the instructor was dismissive and unhelpful, stating that she didn't know what had occurred. This entire experience has left us deeply troubled and upset. We need to seek professional support and advice!

I am deeply disappointed with the gym and the staff's response to an incident involving my daughter. Recently, she suffered an injury during practice, hitting her eye hard enough to get a black eye. Despite her crying and obvious distress, no one came to her aid. It was shocking and upsetting to see the lack of care and concern from the coaches and staff. As a parent, I expect a safe and supportive environment for my child, but the gym's response was far from that. This negligence is unacceptable, and I urge the management to address this serious issue immediately. I will attach what they send me an email very unfortunate. My daughter will no longer go here from now on. When I called the coach to tell her she made me wait till it the whole session was over one hour. And she said I don't know why she cried for. They were making fun of me with the help desk. I ask the owner or manager email or phone number they are not willing to give. I asked them when can I reach out to her they said we Donβt know. If you care about your kids please Donβt send them here.

ZERO stars. My daughter and I had a disappointing experience at this gym. The gym owner, Stacy Cook, was discourteous and showed a clear lack of concern for the Xcel team. It was evident that her only focus was on the NEW level and optional teams that transferred from another gym. This neglect of the Xcel team was very disheartening. I would never recommend this gym to anyone. Never!

Since moving to ASG little over 5 months ago, we have seen the love and care that Stacy (the owner) has for each child and coach that walks through her doors. We are on a highly competitive team and yet I see all of the children getting the same attention whether they're new to the sport or training at a high level. We have seen great improvements in communication, coaching, and overall programming. This gym truly focuses on gymnastics and ensuring every gymnast has a positive experience.

The instruction here is really good for developing core strength, but I think to learn tumbling the ratio of instructor to student isn't adequate. It seems to be improving, but each child needs more one-on-one. I see from the more advanced classes that those that stick with it get a great training, though.

We've really enjoyed being a part of this gym. There are so many levels and the doesn't seem to be a lot of pressure on the kids here like I've heard of in other gyms. The price is very reasonable and my kids also liked attending camp here.

Before I get into the cons, I will say that my daughter has had classes with Coach Blake twice a wk this year. He is phenomenal. It is clear that he loves the kids and his job. He knows his stuff, is super personable and makes it a point to connect with the children AND their parents. I would follow him anywhere, except here.
The flipside:
I'll l say that management has never been the most pleasant or communicative. It hasn't been an issue for me, as I don't have to talk to them regularly.
Last year, I reached out to the gym and spoke with someone (that I fairly certain was the manager) regarding my child being dismissed from class into a parking lot without me being present. She was defensive and told me that the gym relies on parents to get their kids after class and that the gym was not going to make sure that the kids were given back to their parents (odd, given their written "policy"). Her tone and demeanor were smug, off-putting, defensive and nasty. I was irritated by it all, but accepted her position and made sure to be present for dismissals.
However, probably due to Covid, a lot of parents were not in the building during their child's class. This gym is in an industrial (warehouse) setting, off a major road, back in the cut with little to no parking lot lights. In the winter, it is pitch black. Yet, small children would often be walking around, between cars, while other children's parents tried not to hit them.
Last week, I was sitting in my car and I heard my child calling my name. It was 16 minutes too early for her to have been out of class. Another little girl also came out and was walking around, looking for her parents in the relatively empty (due to summer) parking lot. There wasn't an ASG employee in sight. Anyone could have taken or hit this child. I asked her to go back into the building. Then, the teacher and her friend come out and left. I then realized that in spite of the fact that I was still paying $136 (?) a month, adults were no longer teaching the classes, nor were they present, and that my daughter was being "taught" by older children (which wouldn't have been a big issue until I saw how the class was being run during the next class). I immediately sent a cancellation email.
Yesterday, I called to confirm the cancellation and reiterated my concern about the children being dismissed with no supervision or a care as to where they were going once they left the gymnastics floor. The lady at the desk got defensive and told me "Once the child leaves the gymnastics floor, they are their parent's responsibility". I argued with her that the logic did not make sense. You dismiss children to parents, not to parking lots through a side door from a second floor. The way that the gym is set up, the kids leave their teacher on the first floor and no adult from the gym ever sees them again, or knows where they went or who they went with. It's crazy. Her logic was so ridiculous and devoid of intelligence that it ticked me off. She was rude, continued to cut me off (and I did the same), and defensive as she doubled down on this "policy" of "we aren't responsible for your kids once they leave the floor". It made ZERO sense, seeing as though I witnessed this child (teen) dismiss class almost 20 minutes early. The lady on the other end of the phone finally, angrily settled on having the manager to call me (Do not). Utterly ridiculous and unsafe. After I posted this in a large area group, it was clear that others have experienced and complained about the same issue, only to get the same response. Now, I need to figure out which authority to report them to.
Oh and some of the other reviews have been written by staff.

The people here are RUDE!!!! Iβve been trying to find my daughter a great gym as well as in my area and thought I found a good thing! Great thing is the day I call to register and spend my money was the day I decided ABSOLUTELY NOT!!! I visited earlier in the week to check the gym out and I asked about private instructors to go to because the mommy and me classes donβt seem to teach the sport the way I want my child to learn! I was referred to AMY! I gave my number and info and was told to expect a call! Still days later not a call. I decided I can just call up there today and ask a few questions! I was told that theyβll have her contact me but I could call back when classes was over at 12:30. I called back and was told she was In a private class and to call back so I stated that I would just like to know if she could tell me more about her personal training program, I want to sign my daughter up. I was placed on hold, Jazz came back to the line and stated that Amy told her to refer me to Sarah because of her schedule and the price she charges! I was so baffled!!! I asked... well whatβs her price?? She said she charges $100/hr and could not take my daughter!! Ummm is she saying that I canβt afford the cost? If so that was a complete freakin INSULT, RUDE and disrespectful!!! I immediately asked to speak to a manager because at this point Iβm looking for a new gym and I am not comfortable with sending my daughter here AT ALL!! Itβs convenient in location but when customer service is bad to a potential client lord knows what I should expect from later on!!

Our second year here and we are happy with it . My daughter has improved a lot and itβs nice that couple people that work there already know her name. She also likes the child night out that they have once a month. They a huge life saver regarding spring break and summer vacation because they always have their program and there is no rush on sign up the child too early like other places. My only complain is that the WiFi never work.

My daughter enjoys coming here but I am bothered with how much money we pay as parents for our children to train here and the heat or air isn't working when the season requires it. Meaning, you can preheat the building before classes start or turn the air on before your guests arrive for a performance. There is no excuse. Where is all the money going? But they make sure to call you if your payment is late or has not been received. Make sure you provide a comfortable atmosphere for your customers being that majority of them are kids.
