Okay so this isnt a bad studio necessarily, but I find this studio is not for beginners at all, and I’ve been disappointed both times I’ve attended. (two separate sessions, with two different people)

Blue Lotus was my first time doing yoga ever, and I made the staff aware that I was 100% new and didn’t know what I was doing at all, I also have some chronic pain (fibro, shoulder issues, etc.) and let them know of this before-hand. I made sure to pick a beginner friendly class through their app and they assured me in person that they’d help me out and show me some accommodations for certain poses.
And then both classes neither staff member showed a single accommodation for anything, no interacting with me at all or correcting my forms (except for a single one where we were all lying down and she came to each of us) when I was visibly struggling and/or unsure (I mean both my classes had only 3/4 people besides me..) and only seemed to stick to some script when talking. The class also didn’t feel like a comfortable enough space to ask more than one question (even one question was scary to ask imo). The teacher seemed content to assume everyone knew what they were doing despite an ask for any guidance at the beginning of the experience.

So I thought okay, maybe this is just how yoga and yoga studios are. BUT! I recently got a membership at the YMCA and gave a yoga class there an attempt (with very low expectations) and the differences were night and day.

With the staff at Blue Lotus, the atmosphere was incredibly serious and I didnt feel comfortable asking for help in a class of 3/4 people even after telling them I’d need help.
At the YMCA the teacher led us through things but made it feel like natural conversation instead of a script and I felt comfortable asking anything in a class of 30+ people.

With Blue Lotus the teacher sat at the front basically the entire time (besides that one time we laid down and she adjusted us, they do ask beforehand and that’s cool of them) and did the poses assuming you knew what you were doing I guess.

At the Y the teacher showed up poses and told us what the poses were good for (heart, this or that muscle) and showed everyone plenty of ways to make them easier, walked around correcting poses throughout the entire session, and did her best to make the whole event feel very safe and welcoming.

I understand that maybe these are just two varying experiences and that some people may prefer mantras and a super quiet atmosphere compared to a friendlier and brighter vibe, but I don’t accept feeling unwelcome in lessons as a complete novice looking for the bare minimum guidance lol.

Anyway, if you do like that somber and quiet atmosphere, and are also well versed in yoga, you’ll love Blue Lotus. If you have chronic pain, are old, are new or need any sort of extra guidance, I maybe don’t recommend this place.

Which is a shame because I’d have preferred supporting a small business.

I just taught a Kundalini Yoga and Meditation class in this space. About half the students were familiar with the technology and excited to feel the group energy again. The other half were open to the new experience and kept up quite well! I want to thank everyone for sharing the spirit with me this morning and I hope we can build a community with Kundalini Yoga and Meditation at Blue Lotus. Sat Nam

Flo Sheffield, is the Ashtanga and My Sore instructor at Blue Lotus Yoga. I have had the pleasure of taking a few of her classes lately. If I could give Flo 150 stars I would. She has such a passion for yoga and it shows in her teaching. I have always felt a little uneasy about taking a My Sore class thinking I was not good enough and that it would be too difficult but Flo gave me the confidence to give it a go and I am thrilled that I did. Thank you Flo and all the Blue Lotus Yoga instructors in Newnan for your
support and love of Yoga. Namaste

I initially looked up Blue Lotus Yoga Studio's classes offered online. I was instantly drawn in because of The Aerial Yoga classes!! I have taken Aerial in other places, but no where in the Newnan area offers it. I bought a one month unlimited class subscription for regular Yoga and a separate Aerial. I then signed up for an additional month for Aerial! However I am sad to say that the Aerial has been disbanded. They are looking for a new Aerial Yoga instructor, I was told, so that is hopeful!! It is undecided if I will subscribe again for monthly yoga classes or just pay to drop in occasionally. I was highly motivated each week to work on my flexibility, balance and strength so I was best prepared to do the fun poses, inversions and flips that Aerial offered! Sonya Cousinna was a fantastic instructor!! Laura, who I viewed as an unofficial "Teacher's assistant" was an amazing help to myself and other students if Sonya was assisting another. Wonderful one on one help that I truly appreciate in any class! I will be looking out for where Sonya teaches again! She had patience, positivity and skill. Finding her replacement will be hard, but I am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new Aerial Yoga teacher.
Shelby's restorative yoga class in the evening is wonderful for insomnia, flexibility and unwinding. She has a very soothing voice, very relaxing. I also loved A.J's Power Flow class. She keeps you motivated with jokes (literal jokes😂) that keep the class light and fun although your body is getting a hard workout to feel proud of the next day! I would recommend trying Blue Lotus out for yourself! Look online, many classes and massage therapy offered.

This is an up and coming business that grows on the love and support of the community. It's locally owned, keeps a calm atmosphere, and the location is great. Shelby is a wonderful instructor who is easy to follow and learn from at your own pace, and her true love and passion for yoga and health is apparent. She provides the necessary items for beginners, and there are local crafts for sale such as soaps and dream catchers.

Shelby is a fantastic instructor! She works hard to make sure all of her students are comfortable and keeps in mind varying levels of experience or physical ability, while still creating a peaceful and non-judgmental environment. She has all the equipment you'd need available to use in the studio and truly cares about the people who come in to her classes.

Shelby is an excellent instructor. I attended the basics class, which was a perfect pace for me. She was very aware of what I needed to work on without me saying anything, and gentle in guiding me. I liked it better than any other class I've been to. The location is a plus, in a beautiful old building in downtown Newnan. I will definitely be going to another class.
