I absolutely love this place! My husband and I are members, and we enjoy climbing here so much 😉😁 I really appreciate how they update the climbing routes, it keeps everything fresh and exciting!!! Haha. It would be awesome if the routes could be switched up even more often, maybe every 10 days or so 😸.
One small thing though: I do hope there could be more seating areas, and it’d be great if the toilet paper holders in the bathrooms got a little fix 🤣

Friendly staff and great climbing.
The boulder setting here reminds me more of the old school setting style that I really enjoy and is more applicable for outdoor climbing making this the perfect climbing gym for me! Don’t take this as the problems not being fun they still are very fun and creative, even the occasional coordination move or dyno to cater to climbers who enjoy the more compy style.

Large rock climbing gym with treadmills on the second floor, places to chill in between lanes, and a good range of difficulty.
If it's your first time, I've attached a pic of what waivers you need before you show up. You can do these ahead of time on their website.

We hosted my son Emerson’s 10th birthday party at Central Rock Gym, and it far exceeded our expectations! Emerson had an amazing time, and all of the kids — and even the parents — really enjoyed themselves. There were endless climbing levels and challenges, which kept the kids engaged the entire time.
The staff was friendly, organized, and attentive, making the whole experience smooth and fun. It was truly a memorable day, and we’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend CRG for active, exciting parties that kids will talk about for weeks!

We came here to check it out with a friend. We belong to another climbing gym, and have been climbing on and off for a while in general. We went through the belay test. I didn’t even finish it past the climbing knot because the employee was so rude I had to just tell her to stop and that I was done. She asked my wife if she had ever worn her own harness before? It was like she was mad that we had done it before and had other ways of checking ourselves, etc. Even got testy when we said we would rather tie a safety knot on the end rather than just a regular knot? They act very pretentious and I would HATE to walk in here as an absolute beginner.

The moment I stepped into the climbing gym, I knew I was in for something special. The towering walls stretched toward the ceiling, dotted with brightly colored holds like a giant puzzle waiting to be solved. The scent of chalk lingered in the air, mixing with the faint hum of conversation and the occasional triumphant cheer from climbers reaching the top.
I tightened my harness, ran my fingers across the rough texture of the first handhold, and took a deep breath. Then, I climbed.
The initial moves were easy—simple footholds, steady grips—but as I ascended, the challenge intensified. My fingers curled around each hold, my legs pushing me higher, my mind working faster than I thought possible. Every move was a decision, a strategy, a test of strength and balance.
Halfway up, I paused for a moment, glancing down. The ground felt miles away. But instead of fear, exhilaration surged through me. My heartbeat echoed in my ears, but it wasn’t panic—it was **power**.
I reached for the next hold, my muscles burning but my determination stronger. The wall seemed endless, but I was **unstoppable**. And then—after what felt like an eternity but was probably only minutes—I reached the top.
I smacked the final hold triumphantly, my breath ragged but my grin wide. Victory.
Lowering myself back to solid ground, I looked up at the walls again, my body buzzing with adrenaline. I knew one thing for certain:
I would be back.
Again and again.

Every time I use the restroom at Central Rock Kennesaw the toilet paper dispensers only spool out a very small amount! Everyone in there including me must be climbing with a dirty rear end! Sometimes when I get to the top of the wall instead of saying "take" I will start yelling "MY REAR END IS DIRTY! MY REAR END IS DIRTY!" My friends have learned that in my mind that means "take." I believe the dirty rear end enhances my climbing ability because I feel more in tune with nature and my primal self. The lead climbing and bouldering at this facility is exceptional. Highly recommend.

I've passed through here many times over the years. Unfortunately it seems to have gone downhill quite a bit since Stone Summit.
I went in around 430pm to boulder, there must have been 60+ kids spread over the entire area on their "team". The coaches didn't supervise at all. Just sitting around talking to each other.
It was like playing frogger trying to get to the wall walking around kids.
They need to keep the kids at least semi organized.

Good walls and equipment, great route setting team and gym staff. Only complaint: during summer camp and comp seasons the gym tends to neglect the experience of the common gym member. Bouldering wall is sectioned off to a very small non beginner friendly portion. And its practically a day care on team days, many close call collisions with kids running wild. Also no crack climbing or jam holds, no real way to train that type of climbing at this Gym. (Go to Boat Rock outside for best crack climbing training, nearby that is.)

I decided to sign up for a membership just last week and I already feel like part of the family :) everyone is so welcoming and fun, and is so willing to help someone like me who is just starting out. I took the belay class with MJ, and I had such a blast and felt very confident in my abilities after just one class. The gym itself is really nice too. Lots of climbing options for beginners like me to climbing veterans like my friends. Overall, I think this gym is run very well with very friendly staff and good organization.

Took my 4 year old there. It was a blast. We both really enjoyed ourselves. The only thing I wish they had more of is Auto Belay systems on the bigger walls. But still enjoyed myself. I will be taking a belay class so I can atleast belay my wife and kids. My 4 year old climbed up to the top of one of those large auto belay walls. Safe and enjoyable. Will be back soon.
Update: enrolled my son into the apex class for kids. Instructors are amazing. Patient and great energy. Worth every penny.

Love this gym, one of the best places to train in the south. The only downside I will mention is that it seems like whenever there’s a competition the customers that aren’t competing get screwed over in the bouldering area, sometimes for weeks. They pretty much shut down half the bouldering or more and leave very few spaced out comp problems that most people aren’t good at or enjoy. Kinda feel like the competitors get placed on a pedestal and the everyday normal climbers get screwed. Plenty of times I’ve come in and were not even allowed to use half the bouldering area. I understand it’s a big gym with some world class teams coming in but it just kinda sucks the rest of us get put on the back burner

Favorite location! Great place to climb and staff are always nice. I love the music too.
Wondering if there's a way to set up a laptop bar near the tables, with a charging station? As a climber it's pretty annoying to walk in and have no tables available to put on/take off gear with because there are multiple parents working remotely on their laptop and taking up a whole table each.

Tons of bouldering space with 3 sections, one replaced with new holds every week. 60 ft walls with self belay, top rope, and lead climbing. Even a speed climbing wall. There's a spray wall as well as moon board. Kid's area. Climbing and rope training lessons with nice instructors. Also a gym upstairs with weights and cardio equipment. This gym has it all, just gets a bit crowded at times.

My 4 year old son joined the Apex Climbing Gym 4-7 year old team August of 2023. Coach Corey is very personable and an excellent coach for this age group. We saw big strides not only in my son’s climbing but also his confidence!
Unfortunately, I still can’t recommend this gym itself as a result of some really awful interactions with team management, specifically Jennifer Hunt and Claudiu Vidulescu. One of the 4-7 year old team practices was moved from the Kennesaw location to the Atlanta location, and communication about this change was really poor— they didn’t send information on the change out via the portal that we were told to keep an eye on for exactly these sort of updates.Several of the families, not just ours, showed up to the wrong location.
Since each class is $45 and this was a communication error on their part, I reached out to ask about a refund. I was polite and understanding that oversights like this sometimes happen. After a slew of “it’s against policy to refund” replies (these policies were somehow never available for me to look at, despite asking), days between responses, no reply from upper management or the owners, and some real cold-shouldering on their part, they agreed to provide a refund and fully agreed that the communication error was totally on them.
I thought the matter was settled— until I kept reading and saw that they were throwing my 4 year old off the climbing team, permanently. I guess because they didn’t like me wanting a refund? Or…something? Because they were mad at me? But they flatly said that he was not allowed to ever be on a climbing team at this gym again.
Not gonna lie, I cried. I hate that asking for a refund— over something they agreed was their mistake!— lead to retaliation against my kid. Any business that throws a 4 year old off a recreational climbing team over something like this doesn’t have your kids best interests at heart.

This place is great for all level learners. My daughter (age 9) had a great time climbing walls.
Suggestion: to have an option to pay for a team member to help with connecting ropes. As there are only about 6-7 preloaded ones she could use. I didn’t know how to connect ropes so she can use other higher walls.
the guy working at the desk told me to look at a YouTube video to learn. However I wasn’t going to take a chance without proper in-person instructions.

Awesome variety of grades for 5.10 beginners to 5.14 comp climbers. Terrific setting. Great facility. Clean locker rooms. Good vibes. Nice community. The older/ more mature staff are kind and friendly, several been there for a while so a reflection that they are well treated?
I appreciate owners who bother to upgrade their facility when it’s grown older. That way they give back to the members who have been there to support the business all these years. You could tell so much pride in this and their sister gym in Atlanta.

My 10 year old daughter Stella just had the time of her life because of what a manager named Madison poured into her. She saw that she was a bit more advanced than the others in the party and challenged her to various other climbs. Wonderful place to climb. Has top rope, lead, and bouldering with a variety of difficulty levels for each. Their top rope belaying class is great for new climbers. They also have an intro to bouldering class that is also great. The staff are very kind and willing to help you if you need equipment or need help with an injury.
The membership is $70 for 1 building and $80 for all of their campuses (4 total). Each campus also comes with a full gym. Definitely worth the cost.
The place can get crowded in the evenings, but I haven’t had to wait longer than 10 min to go on a route.
Gear rental comes with a membership. If you want to slowly accumulate your equipment then you can borrow what you’re missing in the mean time.
All in all a great place to climb!

Terrible management, Im in the military and have some time off to visit with friends and we thought we’d go climbing. I’m new to climbing and not super familiar with knots and as my buddies and I were trying to move on from auto belays to using the ropes and belay devices for climbing, I had to get tested on how to tie in and use the ATC. Two things I’ve never done before. One of the “managers” a 20 year old know-it-all, told me that I’d have to figure it out on my own without them helping me. How am I supposed to know something if I’ve never learned it? What kind of safety protocols is that? Then I was informed that I can’t ask any staff for help. The staff member that was kind enough to help us told me that he literally teaches kids all day. Extremely unprofessional management and staff. Couldn’t believe the treatment we were getting especially being our first time there! Hope the hiring manager does a better vetting process for future staff. I’ll never be going back to any of these locations. And if you plan on going to the one in Kennesaw make sure to take plenty of courses and watch YouTube videos for all things climbing, because the staff there will expect you to know everything and figure it all out on your own.

Definitely the best climbing gym in Atlanta. I'm a member of the three gym chain, this one has the highest walls, the newest holds, and the best route setting. The staff is friendly and stays out of the way, and it's not overcrowded. Top rope goes to 5.13b, lead goes to 5.14. There is something here for everyone. There's a great kids area, gym, training area, and of course a massive bouldering wall with everything from slab to extreme overhang. There's an outfitters shop too.

Today was my first time rock climbing. I was super excited. But the entire time, the staff seemed annoyed that I was there. I tried to be nice, as I work customer service myself. My cousin and I were very vocal in letting the staff know we had never been there before and had zero experience. Mary gave us our “orientation” which was basically a short tour around the facility and then she left us in the beginner section alone. Which wasn’t a huge deal, but we didn’t even know how to put on the gear. First, I realized my shoes were too small, and I needed to get a bigger size.. as I walked up to the counter, THREE different staff members just stared and refused to help until I asked several times. After we were trying to put on our gear, we realized we had no idea what we were doing. We again went to the front counter to ask for help.. and again.. Mary seemed genuinely annoyed. Mary told me my gear was fine. I told them I wasnt comfortable without it being checked. I finally asked for another staff member, as Mary kept sighing and had a an attitude. After asking a few times for another member, Addison finally offered to show us how to use the gear. Turns out, my harness was on INCORRECTLY, (even though Mary said it was fine.) it was actually wrapped around my leg wrong and I could have been injured. I was super disappointed, as we seemed like a burden to the entire staff.

Great place with lots of different routes at various levels, including a kids area. Gym is ok and there are lots of areas to sit and chill. It never gets too crowded even when it's busy. If you don't bring a partner for the top ropes don't expect to find a stranger to climb with. People are nice but not many solo climbers hanging around the big walls.

A good climbing gym. Clean no odor, spacious. Lots of top ropes. Quite a few autobelay (but mostly for beginners). Has bouldering sections and lead climbing too. Some walls are extra tall, the lead route looks super long

Staff and clients are all great. There are always welcoming folks to trade belays or work bouldering problems with. Route setting is EXCELLENT and frequent. Route grading feels spot on and there is always a new problem to tackle. Staff is always helpful and kind, being knowledgeable for both general questions and purchasing new gear. Great climbing for all skill levels, but this is the best place around to really hone your skills and become a better climber in an overtly positive environment. Strangers WILL cheer for you while climbing.

I came here with my girlfriend for my birthday. Although we didn't know anything about belaying, their class was super helpful, and the instructor had the patience to repeat some knots we had trouble with. Thanks so much to everyone here for helping make my birthday outstanding!

When I first started going, I was struggling on most of the routes...they don't offer much for beginners...but I've seen significant improvement in my strength and ability. Four months later, and I'm at a place where the routes are either way too easy or way too hard. Rock climbing is a fun way to workout! I only wish they offered more routes for my skill level.

My daughter attended team practice at stone summit from Feb 2021 until Sept 2022. This year after recreational climbing in 2021 we started to inquire about options to competitively climb. It honestly became a complete joke! The lead coach Neil and team coach Devin did not support or encourage my daughter, there was no structured coaching. I asked multiple times for criteria or skills required for her to compete and ultimately decided to pull her from the Club as it went no where.
After one night at a new club she was encouaged to enter a competition the following Saturday with clear directions and instructions on what is needed.
I regret wasting months at stone summit, where they tried to reduce her confidence and not adequately coach her with zero explanation.
In the end I felt we were discriminated against as my daughter is biracial. I would not recommend sending your child/tween to this club to climb if interested in good constructive coaching and clear criteria to advance.

Really enjoyed my time here! Did a day pass last weekend and spent about 2 hours here. Great big, nice space with mixed climbing opportunities for beginners or those very advanced. Wish there were more auto belay options for those who are not belay certified, but huge bouldering area to make up for it!
