First and foremost, the people are amazing: encouraging, supportive and fun! The workouts are challenging and infinitely scalable for all abilities, and I love how they're different every time. I always leave feeling accomplished and inspired by what I can do and what others do. I love the community-minded mission, too. So glad I took a chance and gave this a try!
Also, Nick is an amazing coach! He always takes time to demonstrate the workout movements clearly and shows how to warm up and practice before we start. Even if I've done a movement many times before, it helps to review it so I can continue to make sure I'm doing it correctly.

I've been looking for a gym for a while and this checks all the boxes. Clean, spacious, great gear, and excellent coaches. The team takes time and effort to walk you through each exercise and there's no gatekeeping techniques. You can tell the team has been doing this for a long time and genuinely cares about helping people improve. The community vibe is welcoming too, which makes it easy to stay motivated. They have kids are that my 5 year old loves and that's a big plus for busy parents. Highly recommend!

I was really intimidated to go into CrossFit but the coaches and the other people at this gym have been phenomenal and beyond kind. Nick worked with me when I first started to teach me the correct form and technique and that has helped immensely with both the workouts and my confidence in the gym. I recently had the pleasure of dropping into CrossFit Liminal and working with Nick for the CrossFit Open 25.3, and I can’t speak highly enough about the experience. From the moment I walked in, Nick and the community he’s built made me feel right at home. His knowledge and encouragement were invaluable, especially when it came to tackling the wall walks, of which I had little to no experience doing. As an official judge during the workout, he provided clear, supportive guidance that helped me stay focused and push through. It’s rare to find a coach who not only understands the technical side of CrossFit but also fosters such a welcoming and inclusive environment. It’s safe to say that I’ll definitely be returning. Crossfit Liminal has been my joy and my salvation since I joined in January. I had heard good things about it from friends, but was so wary of crossfit in general that I was very skeptical when I walked in to meet with Nick. The first thing I saw was that every body type was represented in the class that was happening when I got there. All ages, all fitness levels. That was VERY reassuring.
I was still doubtful I would be able to make it for the suggested 3x/week. I am 44 years old, with 3 kids (ages 13, 10, and 9) and I run a small school. Much to my surprise, I LOVED the classes. Like loved loved!! They were so varied and the scaled options were just as celebrated and encouraged as the RX options.
I was joining just to prevent muscle loss associated with aging, but now it is undoubtedly the happiest times of my week. If I am in a bad mood I 100% know I can go to liminal and turn my mood around.
I have now added on the olympic weightlifting class and it has made me feel so strong and is again SO FUN. I do not believe in intentional weight loss for me personally, but in the first 3 months I lost 30lbs without changing how I eat (i was 100 lbs heavier than I was before kids so I had/have a lot to lose without “feeling” it). Regardless of the weight-loss, I have already attained the mental health benefits and feeling if strength that I was seeking. I cant say enough amazing things about Crossfit Liminal.
Update: adding a review of one of the wonderful new coaches:
As with all the coaches at Liminal, Ellen is an amazing coach! I would never have imagined loving a gym environment the way I love Liminal because I assume that all CrossFit gyms have a “no pain no gain” culture that I find off-putting and in opposition to my best climate for growth. However, Liminal is full of Coaches who are encouraging, compassionate and fun.
Ellen helps me scale the workout to an experience that is both challenging and successful. She actively encourages us during and after the WOD. She has a fun and kind spirit and I am looking forward to her training my kids this summer at Crossfit kids!

A little over two years ago, I joined Crosffit Liminal, not knowing what to expect. Fast forward two years and my health has improved drastically. I’m stronger. I feel better I can play more with my kids and my overall health has definitely improved. The coaches are great they motivate you and they actually coach you.m, making sure you get the knowledge and get proper technique to avoid injuries. As an example I started deadlifting 80 pounds and justice this past week I was able to deadlift 285 pounds with absolutely no back problems.

If you’re looking for a supportive, inclusive space to help you move your body and challenge yourself, no matter what that looks like, CrossFit Liminal is the place to be. I have been doing functional fitness with various trainers for several years before coming to Liminal. I have always been very wary of CrossFit gyms due to the general reputation of a very toxic and dangerous culture. When I first met Nick, he made it very clear that Liminal was not part of that. He cares about you as a whole person, not just how much you can destroy yourself in class. He approaches everything from a trauma-informed perspective and meets you wherever you are at. There are members of all ability levels in classes scaling workouts to whatever works for them that day. All of the coaches do a fantastic job of coming up with alternative exercises to match ability levels and injury restrictions. Whether you can barely step onto a plate or you can nail 24” box jumps, everyone in the gym is so incredibly stoked for you. The culture of Liminal is overwhelmingly supportive and joining this community was one of the best investments I’ve ever made in myself. Two phrases I’ve heard at gym that sum up the culture and I say all the time now: “the heaviest weight is the door” and “lift to lift another day”.

Nick is passionate about building a community of health. That resonates with me! Safety is the foundation of a community; when people feel safe — doors open, people thrive and realize their truest potential. I’d never lifted free weights; I wasn’t sure I could. I started 6 months ago with CrossFit Liminal and this is my first experience with CrossFit. I've really enjoyed my time- this is definitely the best shape I've ever been in in my life. Nick does an amazing job of scaling workouts for some of my chronic injuries. I would even say that my back (which I've had chronic issues with) feels better than it ever has before! I would highly recommend to anyone no matter their exercise background or injury history.
**Update**
Now more than 2 years in, I've continued to love this gym. There are more coaches than when I started- all excellent- and the facility is beautiful! I've also continued to be back-pain free for the longest time in my life since grade school.
But the main reason I'm updating my review is that I've realized that more than just improving my physical health, CrossFit Liminal has improved the rest of life. The very act of saying yes to seemingly impossible workouts and then doing them consistently has made the rest of life seem a little bit easier :)

I'm not a "gym rat" and I'm very concerned about avoiding injury. Coach Nick is great. He challenges you, but takes time to personally tailor the workouts to your ability, fitness, injuries, and mobility. The community is very encouraging and supportive of all levels as well. Come join us!

This is a great gym for a spectrum of fitness levels, from beginners to athletes. Being in the worst shape of my life one year postpartum, I thought CF was definitely not a possibility but the Foundation classes were super helpful and the workouts can always be graded to your level of fitness. Coach Nick is knowledgeable and provides great education. I also love knowing that supporting this gym helps refugees and those lacking financial resources in the area gain access to exercise and health coaching.

I have been going to CrossFit Liminal 2-4 times a week for about a year. I started with no previous weightlifting experience. Coach Nick is supportive, knowledgeable, and empowering & the Crossfit community is welcoming and friendly. Workouts are challenging but incredibly satisfying (because they often push you to achieve what you think is not possible)! I would recommend anyone (regardless of physical ability) to try out Crossfit Liminal!

I would recommend CrossFit Liminal to anyone, no matter their fitness level! CrossFit was way outside my comfort zone (especially after having a baby and not prioritizing working out for several years), but everyone was incredibly supportive and welcoming. If you’re on the fence, definitely give this gym a try. I’ve been going for over a year now and wouldn’t consider going anywhere else!

Every time that I drop in to CrossFit Liminal I leave with a smile (and very sweaty). I was very nervous to start doing CrossFit after having two kids and being out of shape for about five years. However, joining CrossFit Liminal has really helped me to realize that I can get in shape again and even enjoy working out.
