What I love about this place, not only are the classes accessible to all, cathartic and challenging but you will find people of all ages, ethnicities, many cultures and experience levels...all finding a space in which we are brought together in creative, healthy ways. This is a business not a spiritual center but it does have a peaceful vibe and a dedication to the joy and craft of dance. The teachers are delightful.

Quincy classes for hiphop are amazing and fun. First time and even on his worst day when he wasn’t feeling well with a bad headache he still gave an astonishing class. Everyone finished a better dancer today and felt great doing it!

Honestly, I can't believe I am writing this review. Dance 101 provided a great space to learn to dance for a long time. However, today, they have lost sight of the dancing in favor of money. They cancel classes with lower attendance, raised prices for their performance series, are extremely strict if you have an emergency and can't attend class, and the kicker - they charge a $50 fee to cancel your recurring membership!
If you have never danced before, there are a good set of beginner hip hop classes. However once you begin looking for more intermediate classes, there is not a good selection. If you live north, you are better off going to K Dance Studio. If you live in the area, check out the new beginner/intermediate classes at Xcel instead.
I wish this wasn't the case, but a dance community should be the priority rather than maximizing profits.

I've been coming to Dance101 on and off for yeeearsss. I started with them when they were at their previous location. I made a bold move to ATL from NC. I lived on south side of Atlanta but made that drive after work to get to a class. This place gave me an outlet where I could be myself, de-stress, and twirl my worries away. It was very hard to find a dance studio that focused on adult students but still offered classes with true dance technique. This place is such a gem. Always consistent with the quality of what they offer. It is much appreciated.

I’ve only been to 2 classes so far (heading to my 3rd one today) and I’m really enjoying it so far. The people at the front desk are so welcoming & the dance instructors I’ve met are so kind (ex: Khalil Johnson from the K funk hip hop class kept going around and engaging in conversations with us and that helped me feel more comfortable/ like I belong in this new environment). I drive all the way from Gainesville to come here but it’s well worth the drive. I’m so glad to have this place as my new home and I wish to continue to grow as a dancer here.

I really enjoyed the classes that I took here! People at the front desk was really nice and helpful, Lia helped me deciding which class to take and everything. I was looking for a studio like this for a long time and I am glad I found it! I live in Augusta but I hope to come here regularly.💃🏽

When I signed up for their 20 class / month program in January 2023, the contract clearly stated that I can pause my membership for a month as long as I pay $50, and this contract I signed was effective for a year. But when I asked to pause my membership in October 2023 due to multiple vacation plans that month, the owner told me “Oops, change of policy, now you not only need to pay $50 but also need to show me a doctors note saying you can’t attend cause of your medical condition”. 🤣 First of all, I didn’t sign up for that policy. Second, I ain’t sick, I have vacations! Last but not least, KNOW YOUR PLACE, please. We come here dance for fun, this ain’t no academic school nor my employer, I don’t need to show you no dOcToR’s nOtiCe. 🤡 Most of the instructors here are amazing tho, but think twice before you sign up for ANY of their monthly/annual membership

I would not recommend this dance company if you are looking to improve along with constructive feedbacks. I was told that you have to be in a workshop class in order to receive constructive feedback. My first day, I was so excited and confident to try out something new. When you’re still new, you don’t get it. On my second day of class, I was made fun of by the dancers because I couldn’t keep up with everybody else. I also heard, “most of you are doing a great job while only some of you are still behind!” I was in a beginners class, however I felt like it was way too fast for a beginners. When you’re there, they try to encourage you to follow along, but at the end of the day, they don’t evaluate you over what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong so that you know how to improve. I was told that the basic classes are for those who are only wanting to dive into fun, however I also think it should be taken seriously when it comes to improving as a dancer. Don’t feel comfortable returning due to my lost of confidence in these classes…
Edit: my main complaint is not being valued enough as a beginner dancer and not receiving praise, constructive criticism and feedbacks.
I should not have to go into workshops just to receive a 3 second praise or constructive criticism and feedback. This should be done in EVERY dance studio no matter your level or the type of dance that’s being done. I disappeared because the situation was not being handled appropriately. There’s no point on wasting time at a studio that doesn’t provide the best absolute or value to one of your dancers (me). I overhear all the time other dancers receiving praise and feedbacks and guess what I get? Nothing.
I wasn’t going to stay at a dance studio that couldn’t value me as much as they value their other dancers who have been there longer. Just because you have dancers that you haven’t been to your studio longer doesn’t mean they don’t deserve praise, constructive criticism and feedbacks. I’m human too.
And my last review was positive because I have predicted great things would come for this studio based on the exceptional service I had on my first day and being provided additional opportunities in the future, however that soon changed a few days later after REALLY getting to know the place a bit more and studying the dance teachers communication skills. I was greatly encouraged to follow along, however out of my knowledge, I was scared.
Dance teachers should be professionals and aware of their dance students skills and what they need to work on, but throughout the days of being there, my dance teacher was lacking communication with me and refused to get to know me or get engaged with me to become a better dancer and make improvements.
I don’t see why going inside certain workshops to know where I’m at dancing would be beneficial for me when I could quickly get professional statements from dance teachers instead which is my whole point on the complaint.
As for the bullying, this egregious review was implied months ago so I leave behind all of that and move on because it’s not worth it.
I appreciate the accommodation anyways and wish you and your company the best for your next new additional dancer.
Thank you.

I don't live here anymore. I moved back to California a few years ago. But I wanted to leave a review and say how much I enjoyed this dance studio when I lived there. Being able to find a real dance studio for an adult can be hard.. now that I've been back in California there is nothing like this close by except for your basic workout type class which is not the same. I had a blast trying out all the different classes when I lived their and reliving my youthful dance days.

Dance 101 is AMAZING!! The staff and instructors are wonderful. Everyone makes you feel comfortable whether you are an experienced dancer or you are trying something new. I drive 45 minutes each way weekly for my classes. The prices are reasonable and you also get validated parking in their parking deck. Try it! You will love it. There are all ages, races, sizes and sexes that attend this dance school. Come as you are. No pressure if you don't have dance shoes or "special" dance clothing. Leggings or sweatpants or shorts and a tshirt or tank top and socks are perfect. I hope this review will help someone reach out and give dancing a try.

D. Norris, an excellent salsa (Fuego!) and reggaeton (Latin Fiesta!) instructor! He is not only a good dancer but funny and humble :). I have enjoyed every class with him and my experience at Dance 101 (everybody is very friendly). I joined Dance 101 in February 2023 and will keep going and dancing!

I love this place so much. It's been a sanctuary for me for the past several years. I have learned various styles of dance here and it's help me improve my dance, and also build confidence. I sit here on the couch with a broken ankle, dreading how I can't go back to dance 101 for the next few weeks as I recover from my surgery, but I can only advocate for how amazing and uplifting this place has been for me. I highly recommend going here if you're considering dancing. They have all levels of classes. You just gotta go, be consistent and get to the next level. I used to be so nervous when I first started going, but I am so happy that I found such an amazing community of instructors and dance mates who have pushed me to do great. It's incredible!

I’m wrapping up my first week of taking classes here and I absolutely LOVE IT.
As someone who took dance classes for 10+ years of my life but haven’t been in a class in a long time, it can be hard to find a class that is physically slow paced while using the proper dance language. I’ve found that balance here. I also love the variety in classes and how each teacher gives their own flare to each style of dance. Everyone I’ve met and talked to in the studio is super kind (including the studio doggies!)
I’m excited to keep taking classes here!

I love this studio. The owner seeks to know each student and takes an active interest in everyone's growth. The classes are taught by teachers who take the time to make sure you're understanding and making each movement accurately. Many of the students have been attending for years, and it feels like a community. I drive 45 mins each way because I enjoy this studio so much

Not sure why I am being asked to review this place, it's been a few years since I attended any of their classes. However, when I did go, I always had fun and the dance teachers were excellent. If it's still be being run by the same owner, likely it's still a great place to learn dance or to do exercise.

I loved my first experiences here. However, I haven’t attended a class since October and was charged for a class I didn’t attend on July 1st. I tried to sign up for the class but after being met with multiple errors and the purchase not going through, I gave up. I didn’t receive any emails about a wait list or any receipt. However, on the night of the class I was charged... Supposedly it was a “no show fee”. I never intended to go due to never being told I was accepted into the class in the first place. I even checked my app and saw it never even told me I was scheduled. Instead of refunding me or giving me a pass for a class I can actually attend, they told me it’s just a “learning experience”. I won’t be returning. They just want your money and won’t help you out! Even when it’s their website that messed up.

Im taking the Dancer intro workshop. This was my first week. They taught barre positions and proper techniques. It worked really well for me. The instructor broke down the positions and rationals for why they are done the way that they are done. Very enlightening. The pace was perfect for me...i often feel lost and overwhelmed in dance class but that wasn't the case for this class. Very happy with my experience 🙂

Both the class and the front desk experience were subpar. The music was so loud the instructor couldn't even hear herself even though she was yelling. That was when she was actually giving some kind of instruction - most of the time the class was just trying to follow along with the instructor, who seemed like they were feeling themselves. It felt like I was joining a friend's workout sesh, not in a class to learn a new skill. A the front desk, I had to ask a question literally five times (fifth time yelling) in a row to be acknowledged by the person at the front desk. People were blocking doorways and hallways as they chatted and danced - it felt like I was an intruder. Disappointing waste of two hours all around.

Pros: Dance 101 is okay in my opinion. I’ve had a membership here for about three months now, and come a couple times a week and my experience has been average. They have a huge variety in dance styles so there is something for everyone .
Cons: After being here for only three months the classes start to get boring. Some of the teachers are older so the music is always really 80s and old school, maybe because they cater to an older crowd. I just think it’s a lot more fun for younger people to dance to more relevant music. Their technique classes are pretty cool for the most part. However, there has been multiple times where I would ask a teacher for help with the choreography and they make a whole scene in class about how they won’t help me and I just have to figure it out. It’s one thing if it’s a master class then I would understand but it’s another thing if I’m just doing a class for fun and to unwind from a long day and a teacher is putting me down. It kind of ruins my whole class. The worst part is they spend 10 minutes of class time talking with, I’m assuming friends, but make a big deal going over 4 counts. I think a few of the teachers should be more aware that they’re in a fun learner class and not an audition for Broadway.
I’m going to move to a new studio starting next month, because I’m kind of tired of not knowing what attitude I’m going to get from the instructor on any given day. Their technique classes are good though.

I love this studio. As a beginner, I did not feel out of place. There are classes available for all levels. Teachers and staff are great. My only two qualms:
1. There are no morning classes. I would love to be able to exercise before work.
2. The instructors do not wear microphones, so it is difficult to hear directions over the music.

I've been going to Dance 101 for more than 7 years now and I still love it. They offer a variety of classes to meet any skill and fitness level. The staff is always pleasant and it's just a lot of fun. I recommend it to anyone seeking a good workout that doesn't feel like exercise - more like a dance party.
I especially like Vera's Cardio Dance Club, D. Norris' Hip Hop Fit, Mirian's Extremo Brasil, Caribbean Calypso and any of the high energy dance fitness classes for a great workout.
The only change I don't like is that class cards now expire to 3 months after activation. I've lost classes (=$$) due to travel and just life. It's not cheap. Memberships do help if you plan to go at least a couple times a week.
Parking is plentiful and right out front. It's now a little easier to access this location too with some welcome changes to Briarcliff Road.
If you're thinking of trying it out, look out for their specials and also the free week they usually offer in January. Whatever it takes to get there, know that if you like to dance, you'll love Dance 101.

Just Amazing. I have been going to Dance 101 for about 8 months now. I danced when I was younger and wanted to get back into it. I would recommend attending Dance 101's orientation to learn about their classes before signing up. They have classes (for adults) for all levels. I eased my way back into dancing with their Discover Level classes then moved up to the more advanced ones. You pay by class so you do not have to attend every week. As well, I would recommend trying different classes too. Very friendly staff, and awesome teachers. HIGHLY recommend.
