Great gym until you freeze the account for a DEPLOYMENT but they send it to collections anyway. My husband deployed and we filled out the proper paperwork prior to him leaving. Instead of actually freezing the account or communicating with us, they sent it to collections. When it was max fitness, people always recommended this gym because they were great with freezing accounts for deployments. I would highly recommend staying away because after calling they told us there’s nothing they can do.

The absolute worst customer service and fraudulent billing. attempted to cancel my membership 9 months ago and FitLife continued to try and bill my debt card after I cancelled the membership in person. FitLife informed me I would be responsible for paying the rest of my contract despite cancelling my membership. I attempted to dispute my charges via email with FitLife and they never returned my emails and then they have the audacity to sent me to collections. This could have been resolved but all they care about is money. Scamming people and potentially wrecking credit scores due to their inability to communicate. DO NOT GET A MEMBERSHIP HERE, other gyms in the area are nicer and have better equipment

Amazing environment!!! Been here since day 1 highly recommend trying it out and now they are even more affordable and have competitive prices with every gym in town. UPDATE: we canceled our membership after 18 months at the end of our contract.in Jan 2025 and just learned they’re still attempting to charge our card for payments. New management is trying to deny we ever canceled. I’m beyond angered and it’s piss poor business to attempt this.

We’ve had a membership here for about a year now. We signed up because they have child care available. Now that we have two babies, being able to workout then shower where there is safe, clean, caring child care is a big deal. I would recommend this gym to anyone, but especially parents!

My teen son joined MaxFitness on Tower Rd in December 2024, but since then, the gym has come under new ownership. Recently, I went to speak with the manager about new membership options that weren’t available when my son initially joined. I wanted to adjust our current membership to the lowest plan, which is $10 per month, as my son only uses the gym for the equipment and doesn’t need additional services.

After discussing the matter, the manager suggested canceling our current membership and reenrolling under the new plan, but he informed me there would be an $80 enrollment fee. I pointed out that this didn’t seem fair to existing members—why should we have to cancel and re-enroll?

In response, the manager simply stared at me, spread his arms, and pointed to the door. I followed his suggestion, left, and canceled our membership. While I’m willing to pay the enrollment fee if necessary, it’s the manager’s attitude that really upset me. It feels like they’re more interested in squeezing money out of clients than actually helping them live a fit lifestyle.

When their time is up they use lexis nexis to find out your car insurance, or pretend they are in distress and your old roommate needing help. Remember you didn't sign a contract with the 3rd party. Look up youtube videos on collection agencies. Bottom line max fitness may have got the money from the collection agency but the agency didn't get money from me. I'm only on here because 8 years later I'm getting a call from Max Fitness....hummmmm. I did get the collections agency to drop their claim after they called my mom pretending to my my car insurance road side assistance wondering if my number was the same because they lost connection with me.....funny thing. I didn't have road side assistance from my insurance anymore....which is how I know they used Lexis nexis. And using my roommates name. ( Funny thing is my roommate and I were never close, she would have never called me. I doubt she even knows where I am.....so stay away. They haven't changed their tactics in over 8 years.

Well when we first signed up he swore up and down that we wouldn’t have to go through a 3rd party group to cancel.. well that was a lie !! My boyfriend had to end up paying 100 and something dollars to cancel his personal trainer.. we also tried canceling our membership but we couldnt .. so fast forward they ended up sending our account to collections .. I now owe $1144.17 !! Do not fall for the trap !! They try to sweet talk you and rush you to get the membership and have you sign for stuff that was not stated ..

It is a decent gym, and the people working are pretty nice, but I'm having to metaphorically swim across the atlantic ocean with a bag of rocks just to get a CHANCE to get my membership cancelled. I moved to SC in May and have tried to cancel my membership around 3 times, haven't got an email regarding them accepting or denying my cancellation form. So usually the song goes like this: I submit the cancellation form, wait for a month or so, see that I got charged $29.99 for my membership, try to call, don't get an answer, submit another form, and so on. I know gyms usually make you work a little bit to cancel, but this is a little outrageous.

Beware! Predatory business. I saw all the reviews about billing disputes, but gave them a go anyway. We have been members since 2022 and decided to cancel because too much equipment was out of order that we use. I submitted my cancellation and cancelled my debit card because I was afraid from the reviews. I was right. They kept racking on charges after I cancelled. 30 days of fees and annual charge that I won’t be using and late fees. I paid 32.49 7/24 cancelled 7/25 and here it is 7/26 I have a balance of $113.98. You cannot pay partial and they have all payments going through a third party law office I believe.

We are military and have been to gyms all over America and never had one take advantage of us like this. They only want your money. Making you pay an extra 30 day fee after canceling is ridiculous.

When they asked why I cancelled I told them it was because of the equipment and the bathrooms being broken. They disagreed instead of offering resolution. I believe they are over charging me for this. My neighbor was able to call and cancel immediately 2 months ago with no additional charges.

This company is awful, and they exploit young people. My son joined at age 17, and shortly after his debit card was compromised and had to be replaced. He had orthopedic surgery around the same time, so he wasn’t going to the gym and didn’t think about the card. They never once called or emailed, and then he received a letter from a collections agency saying he owed over $1,100, which is more than double the total of his contract. A very hateful young woman named Jenna harassed us multiple times and made threats. I contacted management and asked them to simple reinstate the original contract and he would continue to make the monthly payments, because as a now 18 year old, he doesn’t have a large lump sum to pay, and that we will not pay collection fees when they failed to reach out even once. Management wouldn’t budge. These people are awful, and I would encourage everyone to find a better gym. Filing a BBB complaint against them tomorrow and retaining legal counsel.

Sometimes it is impossible to do the bodywork class at 6:30 pm because there are a man that do the previous class and his sweating is rotten, nasty 😷. He still stays all sweaty for the 6:30 pm class. I love this gym❣️ They just got new equipment and I am taking full advantage of it. I used to be scared of going to the gym and would make a B-line to the treadmill. However, the staff and members here are so kind. I have learned so much about not just fitness. but health and wellness. I am not going to lie the staff members were a little intimidating for me at first because of their muscles and size. However, whenever I need assistance they are always happy to help. Eddie the assistant manager shows me a new exercise every week. He is Such a nice guy. I never feel like I'm bothering him. Bella literally took apart a stair stepper and put it back together after I dropped an airpod in it. Deyone the Push instructor is always encouraging and fun (those classes are no joke 😭😂). Mrs. Cathy the Gym Director is always busy and working on events for the members to enjoy. When she's not ripping and running you can find her in her office. She is lovely. Mr. Loren the Training Director has really changed my fitness journey for the better. I am lifting weights and doing things I never thought I would be able to. Mr. Loren is straight to the point. If you ask him for advice he will tell you and it works. If it's not working then you just aren’t doing it. Zoe a Fitness Trainer is so nice to chat to. Andrea, Lydia, and Israel the front desk girls are always welcoming. I try not to distract them too much but it's always lovely to chat with them about books and Love Island. I can not speak highly enough about the staff. They keep the gym clean and organized. It used to bug me when the weights would be out of order or parts would be everywhere. Well, not at max the dumbbells are in order. There are bins, racks, and organizers. Honestly, I could keep going on and on. I have made life-long experiences and created new goals for myself because of Max.

All good till my fiance had to cancel. We were on a couples contract. I decided to terminate mines to go to another gym, but the condition was to just continue till the original completion date (not renew her contract and extended). We were both told was that she was set to continue till her original 18 months were up and the go month to month. What they ended up doing was renewing a contract hence extending an extra 18 months. Extremely disappointed. Continuing and renewing are two very different things…

We used to love this gym (me and my fiancèe) but i left recently because we found a gym that is to our liking and offers WAY BETTER PRICES. I’ve been a member since 2021, i signed an 18 month contract which should be up by now 10/2023, just because everybody is leaving they are trying to rip people off and make everybody pay a cancellation fee of $99 which is really unfair. My fiancée left our plan but it still shouldn’t change the fact that i’ve been a member since 2021, i stayed on the same account and same card number in file. I wish i could talk to higher up management because this is ridiculous, i thought it was just better paying off the $99 than getting stuck with them longer they only care about money money money, but honestly i regret giving them my $99 i wish i could get it back. Take your money elsewhere.

Pretty awesome gym. I can’t think of anything else you’d want from a gym. It has treadmills, bikes, elypticals, free weights, a half dozen squat racks, benches (incline, decline, and flat). It has a day care. It has an aerobic room, a stretching room, machines for every muscle group. Boxes to jump on. It has a sauna, showers, lockers. I do not know what another gym could offer that this gym does not, and this gym is pretty cheap.

So I lost my job when I stop going. When I thought about I needed to cancel. I called to cancel. They sent me to the site to cancel. Someone called me and told me I had to pay at the time 300 first before I cancelled. I provided them my situations but they said they could not cancel me smh until the balance was paid. YALL hit my credit for 4,000 for what? I never in life seen a gym charge someone like that for no longer coming. . Wrongful but I will have someone to look into it. God bless

You guys recently replied to my other review stating that you couldn’t find my cancellation request and that if I could send you my confirmation email that you would resolve the issue. That is the misleading reply you could have gave. You cannot find the request because I was not able to put it in due to the fact that you guys said that you couldn’t find my account. This issue has been going on for over year and although I have visited and called to request assistance no one has offered to help me until I gave a 1 star review. I doubt that is coincidence, I’m very sure you are only doing responding to me now because this is in the public view. But I will share my story to as many ppl as I can because this gym should be in business if it is going to treat its customers in the manner that I have been treated.

Would never get a membership here again. I had knee surgery and told the management and gave a doc note stating I was having knee surgery. Even after I had surgery they were provided the information and miraculously lost the paper work. They continued to charge me even though I was unable to work out without approval from my surgeon.

This was handed to the staff in person!

Edit: Sure, I'll talk to you about it...my name is David. You'll be able to find my last name and phone number in this month's pending cancelation requests. And it had nothing to do with an overdue balance. SINCE YOU want to try to slander me publicly based on assumptions, I'll let everyone know what the whole story is. I have Parkinson's disease and just had major brain surgery that left six holes in my skull. So i can assume that with your 35+ years of excellent management experience , you can understand why my neurologist and neurosurgeon do not want me working out in this condition. Well, I come in with the insurance documents proving that I had this surgery, not to mention "35+" stitches in several different locations where they drilled holes in my skull and Cathy or Kathy or however she spells it said that wasn't good enough to cancel and that I needed a Dr's. Note specifically saying that I am 100% disabled and unable to work out in any manner for a specific amount of time....REALLY!....COMMON SENSE could have been used in this situation.....I am not even trying to get out of paying the cancelation fee....I was prepared to until the whole "you have to have a note from your Dr incident.....so yes....terrible policies.

Once again your facts are mixed up. First off, publicly announcing what kind of Dr. note that I provided is a gross violation of HIPPA. At this time I am considering legal council for this. If I had disclosed it there would be no problems....more to the point, I tried to submit additional letters from my Neurosurgeon, Neurologist and nurse practitioner from UAB and the young lady at the front told me that you didn't need it and that you had everything you needed to proceed with the medical cancelation. The fact that your staff chose only to retain and submit the note from the chiropractor is their error, I offered plenty more documents a few days after I submitted the initial paperwork from the chiropractor. The fact that I had to submit a Dr. note detailing my personal medical history is also a violation. At this time, I am giving you a written warning to cease and desist publicly discussing my personal documentation and I give you 24 hours to edit the comment where you did. For legal purposes I have taken a screenshot as evidence so that you can not deny it when my attorney contacts you. Feel free to contact me to discuss this further.

I love this gym! The staff is super helpful and informative, the equipment is top notch and in good shape. I started my fitness goal here at the age of 38. Deion (personal trainer) is amazing at his job and well worth the time and investment as he cares about his clients and their goals. Could not be happier with the entire staff and place overall.

Love this gym! The atmosphere here is exactly what I need! The equipment is always kept up and serviced well. The kids club is everything for this mom! I love how I can swing by and my kiddo is right there or I can see him on the monitor screen. The trainers are awesome too! My coach Jaime Askew is especially important to my fitness journey! But I don't forget about all the others, whether its push, large group classes, or cycling. All the Coaches are AWESOME! Let's not forget to end it with a good steam in the sauna or snag a few minutes in a tanning bed. Just come experience it for yourself!

I joined Max fitness a few months ago.
Before I joined, I was intimidated and nervous about what equipment to use and if I was going to use it correctly.
As a newby, I decided to get a trainer.
My trainer, Jaime, is incredible and has always made me feel like I belong there, has helped me with all the equipment, pushed me toward my goals and we have fun while doing it.
Everyone at Max is friendly, welcoming and helpful from when you walk in the door to working out on heavier equipment.

I was very hesitant to join a big gym but I’ve had an excellent experience here. Every one is extremely friendly and helpful. The classes are great and I could not have found a better personal trainer than Jaime. She is one of the most knowledgeable trainers I’ve ever worked with.

Max fitness is a decent gym, only complaint is how busy it is no matter the time you go, and most of the girls are good at the daycare. I've only had two issues from two separate girls. When I addressed the issues, the general manager, Cathy, was very helpful. I do have a few favorite girls to watch my baby. Jamiee, Kurby, and there's another girl I didn't catch her name, but they are amazing.

Horrified to realize that this gym frequently takes videos of its gym goers while working out and then post the videos to their social media page for “promotional content”. This is done without any notice, your permission or even awareness!!! Quite frankly this should be illegal, but apparently it’s not “entirely”.

If you have anxiety and are self-conscious about going to the gym, or maybe even just having a bad day and want to blow some steam off, can you imagine what seeing a gym employee recording you and/or seeing that video on their social media in an unflattering light/state because you weren’t aware will do to you?? Hard pass on Max!! Joining the Y instead.

My family joined Max a few weeks ago. The staff is friendly and accessible. The gym has tons of equipment! Even at the busiest times we have had no trouble being able to use equipment. The facility is very clean and well kept. We are so excited to be a part of the Max Fitness Family and looking forward to achieving our health goals here!

Max fitness is a great family friendly gym! The childcare area is great with awesome workers who care about the kids! The gym is huge and plenty of equipment and workout spaces. Classes of all types throughout each day! As a working mama of 3, this is my “me time” place! I’m grumpy if I don’t go!! There’s a sauna and showers too! Oh and the tanning is an amazing bonus!!!! If you're looking for a gym that's fits your needs this is it. Their childcare was amazing! My kids were always super well taken care of and I could get some time alone to do my workout without stressing about my kids. I loved the Sprint bike class they offered. Always got a good sweat on in that class! Highly suggest
