I love Highland Yoga! I had never tried hot yoga until last month and instantly fell in love with it. The instructors are very nice and welcoming to new and current members. I appreciate the variety of classes and class times each day. I am excited to start my membership with HY and look forward to meeting others in the community!

Highland Yoga in Decatur is extremely welcoming and the instructors give great cues while also ensuring to let the class know that everyone is welcome to move at their own pace and take breaks as needed. I would recommend the studio to anyone of any experience level.

Great studio 🥰
I just moved to Atlanta, and I am so glad I found this incredibly welcoming yoga studio. I've taken classes with three different teachers so far, and all of them have been amazing. Today, I joined the High Power Flow with Caron Christison, and it was such a freeing and healing experience🫶🏽

I’ve been at Highland Yoga for a few years now and love it. The teachers are excellent, the workout is hard (or not, depending on what style you pick), the class offerings are abundant, there are location choices across the city, there’s truly nothing to complain about! I truly look forward to every class. It has become a sacred space for me in this ever hectic and crazy world.

I tried hot yoga years ago and hated everything about it. I wanted to pick up my yoga practice again and attended a class not realizing it was hot. Much to my surprise it was addictive. I love the community and appreciate how easy they make it to leave your worries at the door and invest in yourself for an hour. I’ve been coming regularly ever since I signed up and love it!!

Highland Yoga is a sanctuary.
From the moment you walk in, you’re met with warmth, intention, and an energy that feels both grounding and uplifting. The space is clean, calming, and beautifully maintained, but the real magic is in the instructors.
Kristen Johnson’s deep stretch class at Highland Yoga is exactly what my body and mind didn’t know they needed. Her energy is grounding from the start calm, intentional, and deeply soothing. The room feels warm and safe, and Kristen guides you through each pose with the kind of presence that makes you slow down and truly feel.
It’s not just stretching it’s restoration. Her cues are clear and gentle, helping you sink into deeper release without forcing anything. I walked in tense and overstimulated, and walked out feeling like my nervous system had been reset.
If you’re looking for a class that melts stress, softens tightness, and reconnects you with your breath, Kristen is the one. This class is self-care at its finest.
I’ve left every class feeling stronger, clearer, and more aligned in body and spirit. If you’re looking for more than just a workout, but a community and a deeper connection to yourself, Highland Yoga is the place. So glad I found this studio! 💗

I thoroughly enjoyed the 30 days for $30 trial here. The teachers are truly wonderful—my favorites were Lauren McCormick, Sam Gravitt, and Caron Christison—and the class variety in terms of pacing and temperature kept things fresh and engaging. If the unlimited membership were in the $90–100/month range, I’d join in a heartbeat! At the current $140/month, it’s a bit out of reach for me, but I’ll definitely be looking for the same quality and vibe in a studio that fits my budget. Hoping I can return here in the future if something changes!

I joined Highland Yoga in April 2024 and have been absolutely hooked since then. Every instructor I've taken is welcoming and helpful. I primarily go to the Decatur location but also visit Westside and VaHi and go to the Athens location when I'm visiting family there (I LOVE how many locations they have - please expand to Tucker or Lilburn!!!). The classes are consistently awesome - great music, clean, chill vibe. I've noticed a huge difference in the way I feel mentally and physically after building a consistent practice over the past year. If you are thinking about trying yoga, this is the best place in Atlanta (or Athens or Nashville!) to give it a shot. You won't regret it!

Highland Yoga is an incredible community, and I’m so grateful for the teachers and unique energy across all three studios - Memorial, Virginia Highlands (the hottest!), and Decatur (the softest heat). For the sweatiest, most intense flows, I love classes led by Shannon Jackson, Sam Bergquist, Inna or Elsie. Lisa Wolf, Michael Cornelius and Nick Stanley also lead powerful, thoughtful practices. For a gentler vibe, Ashley Ramsey and Kira W are perfect. And Cheryl Crawford’s Cosmic Yoga Flow on Sundays is pure magic - a whimsical highlight of my week! 3/15/2025 This was my first time taking the 4:30 Saturday HPY class. Ashlee Ramsey was the substitute teacher for this class. This was also the first time that I had ever used the assist tokens. I could see that others had chosen them as well. I saw her assisting others. Since she did not come to assist me, I assumed all was well and I was falling into the postures the way I needed to. Well, at the end of class, I received the greatest assist of them all in my most humble opinion. It was time for Savasana, and instead of me doing the traditional Savasana, I went to Constructive Rest due to lower back pain. She came over and rubbed some oil on her hands and began to massage my shoulders, neck, and head. Emotions arouse, and the tears formed and flowed uncontrollably for a moment. My body began to release whatever I was holding. As I began to focus on my breath again, my body fully relaxed into traditional Savasana. Ashlee grazed my shoulders with cold, wet lavender infused towels on both shoulders and upper arms. She walked away, and I just breathed and took my rest. After class, I waited patiently to tell her thank you, and she thanked me. Today, I saw a different view of how beautiful the yoga community really is. I see the type of practitioner that I can evolve into as I continue to hold the practice of yoga as one of my core values.
Additionally, her style of HPY I can find myself truly embracing. Thank Highland Yoga Studio for choosing instructors who lean into their intuition and sees every student as they are. Thanks again, Ashlee!

This studio has a variety of class times (which is nice) and sometimes the instructors are really good. I live local so I walk, so I haven't had to find parking, which could be difficult.
If you are new to yoga this is NOT the place for you. The instructors never demonstrate anything at all and there are no mirrors. They don't really give many cues other than the name of the pose (not in-depth such as, push down through this part of your foot to engage ____). Their classes seems to repeat the same sequences over and over. So if you like that, then you'll probably enjoy it more than I do. They also always cue straight into reverse triangle then to triangle, rather than triangle to reverse triangle, which seems really strange to me in all my years of yoga.

Highland Yoga is amazing. I’ve practiced there for about 8 years attending about 3-4 classes per week, mostly at the Virginia highlands, Brookhaven, Buckhead and Decatur studios. The community is incredibly friendly, and the teachers are amazing, and, perhaps most importantly, imaginative. With yoga, many studios opt to teach the same class in the same way every time, which quickly becomes monotonous, whereas at highland, I find myself consistently challenged with different poses, different transitions, different routines, and different paces; indeed, with some teachers, I’ve never seen the same sequence twice, which is remarkable. There are teachers at highland that have been teaching for more than a decade and are the best I have ever practiced with. There’s also a variety of styles taught. Finally, the number of studios has increased in recent years so that classes are available all over the city. From my perspective, Highland Yoga is simply a superb place to do yoga in Atlanta.

I was really excited to take my first class with highland yoga, but feel like I just got hustled out of money. I signed up for a class online a couple days ahead of time. Absolutely nowhere in my confirmation email did it explain their STRICT late policy, nor how inconvenient their parking is (you pretty much have to park in a garage & it’s a bit of a lengthy walk).
I showed up 5/6 mins after class started because I had no idea how difficult it was going to be to find parking (never been to this studio before) just to find the doors completely LOCKED with absolutely no one at the desk. Tried calling multiple times , waiting around a few mins. Left voicemails asking if I could possibly try to exchange for another class that week. No one ever contacted me or returned my calls. Literally no one ever answers the phone any time i called!
It also seems like this studio avoids paying a receptionists by just having the instructors handle it, which seems cheap & unprofessional. i have NEVER been to a yoga or dance studio w such a strict locked door policy, & I’ve been to dozens over the years across many states.
Needless to say, i was extremely disappointed and very annoyed & feel like i got hustled out of $30. Oh and also another thing they DONT TELL YOU is if the class you missed, because they lock the doors, was full they’ll charge an additional $15? In what world does that make sense? It just seems like a grimy business practice to me. Be more upfront & include these things in your confirmation emails ahead of time NOT just a measly sign posted on the door after you lock it 🙄

I cannot sing the praises of the Decatur studio enough. As someone who is new to yoga I high recommend this studio. Lisa welcomed me and immediately put me at ease. Loved my first class with her so much that I was back 48hrs later for

Love Highland Yoga Decatur! The teachers here help me grow in my practice at my own pace and the music is always 🔥!! Yoga can be intimidating for me but somehow I am always leave HY encouraged and feel like I am enough. I particularly enjoyed taking the Power Flow 101 workshop with Julianne today - we talked and worked through variations and techniques that I hadn’t considered (or felt comfortable trying before) in practice. Highly recommend if you feel intimidated sometimes like me :)!

I went to my first two classes this week (6am hot power flow; 6:15pm warm deep stretch) and had Samantha as my instructor. Both sessions were 10/10. As a beginner, I found that I could follow the Deep Stretch instructions with my eyes closed. With the power class, it was fast-paced but there were cool down/slow moments. The ambiance is great. The yoga space and bathroom are very clean.

Please note that I am an E-RYT 500/YACEP level yoga teacher who has been teaching yoga for 16 years (first 7 were teaching hot yoga.)
The studio is clean and inviting with a large reception area and two restrooms (no showers) with lots of room to change clothes.
I have taken 3 different classes. They are fast-paced, rapidly moving between postures. It is more of an aerobic activity than a vinyasa class, which is fine but if you’re looking for longer hold times and a focus on form and position, this may not be for you.
Each class seems to repeat its specific flow, with minor variations.
I gave them 5 stars because they are good at what they do, it’s just a little different from an Iyengar-based practice if that is what you’re used to.

It’s been a fun, welcoming environment. When they say it is for all levels, they are not kidding. I was afraid at first of embarrassing myself, but Reidy and Kathryn helped me get rid of that mindset in different ways. I like this place a lot

Worst location of this subpar, yet thriving franchise. Room often stinks. Only two single use bathrooms and no showers. The instruction is God awful, boring, static unspiring, repetitive, and if you’re new to yoga good luck because you won't see any demos. The teachers are impersonal and unfriendly. The flows are faster than an olympic sprint and highly incohesive. They give perks for 5 star reviews. But no incentive could entice me to return for another hour of this disappointment.

I’ve been interviewing Highland Yoga, and as a very green 🧘🏽♀️ I am happy with what I have experienced thus far. I have specifically attended Warm Stretch, purposely going to the last class of the day so I can go home and continue in the energy of calm. It’s been great!! Thanks for the opportunity to review. Oh and I ❣️ the little bit talking/encouragement by the instructor between the next pose, it is greatly appreciated.

My experience so far here has been AMAZING. I’d recommend starting with a deep stretch class then moving on up every class and choosing different ones to discover what you’re into. The instructors are amazing and all focus on different things. I’m loving my yoga journey so far and looking forward to continuing it.

I had scheduled a class for 7:35pm. It was my first time here and I didn’t know the parking situation prior to arriving. I drove around for about 20 minutes trying to find parking. I ended up finding parking on the street and called the studio at 7:35pm to let her know that I was having trouble finding parking and that I finally found a spot. I asked her if I could still join the class. She responded by saying “ if you walk in right now, I’ll let you in”. I told her that I parked a block away and would be walking up. She said okay which let me to believe that I could still get in the class. After paying for parking and nearly running to the studio, I get to the door at 7:40pm to find a sticky note on the front door that said “ sorry, had to start class”. So disappointing. This is my first time here and she knew I was walking from a block away. She should’ve just said that she was locking the doors prior and I wouldn’t have paid for parking. After a long day at work, I was really looking forward to this class.

I’ve been practicing at highland yoga for a few months now and I absolutely love it here. There’s a great variety of instructors, some who kick my butt with high power vinyasa flows, and others who take it slow and get that super deep stretch you need after sitting at your desk all day. All classes are heated to some degree, and they have handled their customers safety well given the pandemic. Highly recommend!

I went to my first hot yoga class ever 31 days ago and haven’t stopped doing yoga since. Although some may say doing yoga in a 93° room sounds like the opposite of relaxing, I find it extremely relaxing. Hot yoga has helped me find peace and focus. Yoga doesn’t fix all my problems but it does temporarily push them away long enough so that I can be present in my space, my body, my mind, and spirit.
