I trained at Koi boxing for about two months with coach Jared, and I had a great experience. Coach Jared was accommodating in all aspects with multiple training plans to choose from, self scheduling appointments, setting up sparring sessions, and bringing a new personal workout in each day. The only reason Iβm leaving is due to job relocation- otherwise, Iβd be training here every day!

My kid has had a fantastic experience learning the basic skills of boxing
at Koi Boxing with Coach Jared. She needed a sport that was fast-paced and intellectually stimulating with a good workout. I needed her to learn how to protect herself. We are both extremely satisfied with her results so far. She is faster, stronger and more confident in her abilities since she started, which is wonderful for a parent to see in their child. This review is going to be in two parts, the first part is my shortened review, and the second part is my in-depth review.
Long story short, Coach Jared is about as real of a coach as it gets. Your level of experience in boxing is taken into account, and you have a program set just for you so that you can comfortably become a professional at your own pace. I've done a handful of martial arts in my past, including Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu, but boxing in and of itself quickly became my favourite discipline partially thanks to Coach Jared.
As for the in-depth review, I will list the pros and cons I have had being a student of Koi Boxing and Fitness.
Pros:
-Coach Jared will not mince words or actions; if you drop your guard or mess up a fundamental, he will remind you in your preferred manner, whether it's from being smacked around a bit as a reminder (to help build habit) or from asking you what you did wrong and forcing you to think about what you can do to fix the error.
-Being a regular attendee helps build discipline and good habits; having an obligation to do something which has one maintain physical activity and technique really helps hone both the body and mind.
-Very flexible schedule; no matter what my schedule was as a university student, Coach Jared was able to work with it and ensure I still got quality sessions whenever he was open.
-Very flexible program; as stated in the short-hand review, the program is tailored to each individual, taking into account prior experience, fitness level at the moment, and your personality in order to ensure that you get the most out of each and every session.
-Insanely high-value prices; I've looked around many boxing gyms, and no other boxing gym holds a candle to the prices Coach Jared offers. For 20, 45-minute sessions, I paid $700. That's $35 for every 45-minute session. For reference, other boxing gyms I know charge anywhere between $80-100 for a 1-hour session, and are usually institutionalized, monotonous programs.
Con:
-Sparring sessions with other students are far and few due to a smaller pool of clientele who may also not want to spar; this will eventually be fixed with a larger pool of clientele though, and I greatly recommend you join that larger pool of clientele so that the only con I can think of will no longer be a con.

You will learn to be a professional with a healthy body and mind if you commit to being true to yourself while working with Coach Jared. For that reason, I cannot possibly give anything less than 5 stars.

He is an excellent motivator & gives critical feedback while remaining positive. I applaud Jared for being an ABOVE and BEYOND coach. I have visited gyms, read online reviews, and spoke with other potential coaches before stumbling upon Koi Boxing! I was like YES! FINALLY! Iβve found the right coach!
Right now, I am training 4-5times a week with Jared. From day one, Jared learns your strengths, limits, goals to tailor a personal training plan for you. He teaches both boxing and fitness. He is detail oriented and patient in helping you improve your posture to prevent injury and meet milestones at your pace. And he makes workout fun! Itβs like hanging out with a friend!
He care genuinely for his students. He encourage not only physically growth but spiritually, mentally, and emotionally. He emphasized itβs progress, not perfection. If we work on our goals consistently, we will achieve greatness!
An example of what stood out to me: I had a bad day and wanted to cancel an appointment but I knew I needed the workout for my mental health and Jared caught the shift in my aura and took the time to actively listen. Not only does he gives good boxing advice, he gives sound advice for life.
If you want to invest in yourself, find someone who also wants to invest in you. Definitely give Koi Boxing a visit!!!

Cannot say enough about Jared. Genuinely cares about the success of his clients and/or friends. Will push you to succeed in every drill and every workout - all the while giving constructive feedback. If you are a beginner, Jared will not put you in an uncomfortable spot about punching/defending, etc. Whether you want to just get in shape while trying a new sport, or, learn the sport and its details, Jared is one of the best.
