Out of all the LA Fitness clubs I’ve been to, I have to give a special shoutout to this one—specifically because of Janay. Today, I finally stopped to ask her name, because every time I come to this location, she greets me with the warmest smile. And it doesn’t stop there—on the way out, she always makes a point to acknowledge you again.

Working in the customer service industry myself, I know firsthand how much the little things matter. Something as simple as a warm welcome can completely change someone’s day.

I really enjoy this gym—it’s a great place to work out. One thing I’d love to see improved is the mats. There used to be plenty available, but now only a few are left and they’re pretty worn out. Since a lot of members use them, it would be great if more could be added or replaced. Thank you!

Great location, can be busy at times especially free weight area. Well maintained. Only complaint- guys camping out on equipment fixated on their damn phones, sometimes 10-15 minutes, completely oblivious that this is a gym,not their living room, and others may want to use the equipment! That was, without question, the most disgusting bathroom/lockeroom I've ever set foot in in my entire life. Absolutely reeked of urine. Floors and tile were filthy. Equipment was all very old and entire free weight area was super cramped. Is there great eye candy, sure, but the gym itself is a total total dump. Needs a total remodel.

I came in wanting to know the price and maybe try the free trial before deciding on a membership. Instead, I met with R.J. Stewart, who pressured me into a long sales pitch and upsell that ignored everything I asked for.

I made it clear I only wanted a local membership, but he kept pushing the more expensive state and nationwide options. On paper the difference between tiers is only about $10, but he kept implying I’d be forced to pay a lot more later if I didn’t sign up for the higher tier right away. It was obvious he was using fear-of-missing-out tactics instead of being transparent.

When I pressed for actual prices, he dodged every question, then even tried to call over coworkers to back up his claims instead of giving a straight answer himself. It felt like he was playing a numbers game to make me second-guess myself rather than being honest. He also ignored my request for the free trial entirely.

Overall, the experience was manipulative, disrespectful, and a waste of time. I walked out without joining, and I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.

Not necessarily rude but also not helpful at all. I came to close my la fitness account from moving out of state at this location. I came in, front desk lady was nice and so was the sales rep guy but I was redirected to another lady that claimed they can’t close my account because I’m not originally located in Georgia. She then told me to call my home gym location to tell them to close it. I called my prosperity church rd gym in charlotte and he informed me that all locations were able to close my account regardless of anything. I’m so confused.

I am leaving this 5 star review for Deja! I had thyroid surgery and was having hard time meeting my fitness goals. I’ve been working with Deja for 6 months and she helped me lose 10 pounds. She is so encouraging and fun and pushes me while understanding some days I might not have as much energy. Also shout out to Justin for knowing Deja would be a good fit and for being so encouraging and friendly every time I come in! I still have a long way to go to get to my pre-surgery fitness level but it doesn’t seem so impossible now!

Very friendly employees

My update: the employees are very friendly but do absolutely nothing to police the patrons who have become extremely rude. They sit on machines for extended periods of time playing on their iPhone as if they own the machine and even worse they try to reserve two machines at once leaving their stuff behind on one machine while working out on another. The staff does absolutely nothing even if they try to respond to this message with claims that they do. I'm seeking a new gym after 20 years of patronizing this one.

And now, they are apologizing for cutting the locks off of lockers left overnight. Apologizing for enforcing their own rules! Amazing!

Dear LA Fitness Corporate Office,

I'm writing to express my disappointment and offense at the treatment I received at the Ansley Mall location (1544 Piedmont Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30324) on June 9, 2025 When the yoga instructor didn't show up, some members, including my fiancé and I, chose to stay in the room. However, the General Manager, Mercedes, called security and the police to have us removed.

I showed her the company policy on my phone, which states that members can use the room if a class isn't being held. She proceeded to tell Meemee that one of the individuals in there used to work there and she proceeded to ask them if they would like to have the class in Private, after one of the ladies already expressed she did not mind us being in there Mercedes antagonize the situation .Despite this, she persisted until she consulted with her supervisor, who confirmed the policy. She never came to apologize she sent her assistant manager Cj( can’t remember exact name) to apologize on her behalf, he was pleasant and understanding unlike Mercedes.

I was uncomfortable and disappointed by the unprofessional behavior. As a frequent LA Fitness member, I've never experienced this before. I'm considering terminating my membership at this location. I hope you'll address this issue with Mercedes and ensure she's familiar with company policies. As she told us to have a good day as we exited and laughed instead of apologizing with professionalism.

Went to this LA fitness for a 3 days trial.
Had a wonderful experience. Right from the free abundant parking space out front, Starbucks coffee right next to the gym and a gym that’s reasonably busy not overcrowded. Machines were relatively abundant, felt new. Great guy Justin at the front desk, very warm and knowledgeable. Did the body fat
L analysis for me for free and introduced to me another one of his clients who he thought I could connect with in the future. Overall if you’re in doubt, go check out the gym with a free three day pass and talk to Justin.

Every time I visit, Mercedes greets me with the brightest smile and the kindest attitude. Solid gym, but to the people doing high intensity cardio or jumping around in the Sauna, please do everyone a favor and stop.

First off, you're Disturbing Others. Most people go to a sauna to chill, meditate, or recover. If you're doing jumping jacks or jumping around in a small room with others, you're going to be public enemy #1 in no time. It's a public gym, if you have a problem with what I'm saying get your own sauna.

2nd, you may face Potential Legal or Facility Policy Violations. There's a clause in LA Fitness's policy that prohibits exercise in saunas for safety and liability reasons. You will get kicked out, fined, or banned altogether.

3rd, Public electric saunas have heating elements and wiring so vigorous movements could knock something over, dislodge a panel or damage the stove.

I choose not to die in a fiery abyss and Believe me, nobody thinks you're cool so allow everyone the courtesy and please stop.

I had the pleasure of doing a complimentary training session with Justin, and I couldn’t be more impressed! From start to finish, he was kind, patient, honest, and extremely knowledgeable. He took the time to understand my goals at the beginning of the session and then tailored the workout to my needs. This place is absolutely adrenaline packed and the staff treats you like you’ve been friends for a lifetime. I got to meet a gentleman who helps lead the gym named Leon who blessed me with recommendations on how to go harder and get more shredded. Like so many of his colleagues here, this man is a SAINT. I was interested in joining this gym and wanted to try it out with the advertised 3-day guest pass. However, when I arrived, Leon, the GM, refused to honor the pass and instead insisted on charging me $20 for a single-day pass. This is not the best way to attract new customers! Recently, my partner gave me one of his guest passes to use at the club. After following the online instructions, I received a barcode to scan upon arrival. When I got to the club, I explained to an employee (who appeared to be the manager—a Black male, approximately 40 years old) that I had the barcode. However, he directed me to the membership desk and insisted I complete a free trial form. I explained that I was simply there as a guest and didn’t need a trial membership, but he maintained that the form was required. Reluctantly, I filled it out.

Fast forward six weeks, and I’ve been inundated with 6–8 calls per week from the club, trying to get me to sign up for a membership. I’ve ignored these calls, but today I decided to call and request that they stop. When I spoke to someone named Leon, his response was curt. He asked for my first and last name, and as soon as I provided it, he said, “Okay, have a good one,” and abruptly ended the call.

This gym is great. I come here when I’m in Atlanta visiting family. It has all the equipment I need. Plenty of dumbbells. The crowd is chill and in my experience it’s never been too crowded to get a workout in. The staff is friendly and helpful especially Leon.

Decent facility with, for the most part, very friendly staff. The customer base also positive gives off a positive vibe. I give it a 3 mostly because much of the standard gym equipment – including heavy balls, jump boxes, Bosu balls, kettle weights, etc. – are available only the area marked off for private trainers. One of the female trainers, in particular, is very aggressive in policing the training area and running off anyone who tries to use that equipment. I of course understand the need for a marked off area for private training, but it shouldn’t have a monopoly on such equipment, meaning you have to pay a private trainer to use it. The matted area outside the private training area is also small relative to the size of the gym and number of users.

Dust bunnies under the equipment and around the mats. The water fountains are often in need of a good scrub. The mirrors in front of the squat stations are often splattered with spit. These are basic simple things that wouldn’t cost a bundle to resolve.

The gym was disgusting. There were wads of paper towels in the shower stalls and the soap dispensers were open at the top. Why would I want to use soap that’s open and exposed like that? No telling what could have gotten in there and I’m expected to put that on my skin? The police were in there too. Clean. Spacious. A good quiet workout vibe. Equipment is old school mostly and that is what I use. No pool or basketball courts. The first time I went to this La Fitness I used a PT. She was so mean to me. She told me 18% body fat was too high. It really hurt my feelings. Every time I’ve tried to do a class, I get pushed out because people pile in the room and I get stuck in a small corner and can’t workout properly. Even though I always show up early(guess it doesn’t matter). This is mostly towards the PT that body shamed me because she wanted me to sign up for her sessions. I love LA fitness but my workout experience will never be the same after being called fat by that woman. It’s been a while, but I think about it every time i go to the gym.

This is a pretty great LA Fitness location overall. It is located in an older plaza in a great neighborhood, no surprise the equipment is older, they don’t have a pool (only sauna) and they seem to avoid pouring a lot of money into updating this location. That’s not a big deal for myself and I still really enjoy this gym. The staff is pleasant and very responsive when you need help. I love that all my friends go here and you really get a sense of camaraderie. The other customers are all pleasant and happy to work with or around you when it’s busy.

My recent experience at LA Fitness has left me thoroughly disappointed and dissatisfied. During my brief 30-minute visit to the gym, I managed to lose my bag. Understandably concerned, I approached the manager seeking assistance and accountability, only to be met with an utter lack of responsibility on their part. Despite being on their premises, they refused to acknowledge any accountability for the security and safety of my belongings.

Furthermore, when I requested to cancel my membership due to this incident and the subsequent poor handling of it, they complied but only refunded me for the next month's payment. This left me out of pocket for the entire month of April, which I had already paid for and could no longer utilize due to the cancellation. Their refusal to refund this portion of my payment is unacceptable.

I was also forced to incur additional expenses for an Uber ride home to retrieve a spare car key that was also stolen from the gym. Despite the inconvenience and financial burden this caused, LA Fitness showed no willingness to reimburse me for this expense, let alone compensate for the items lost within the bag.

The level of poor management and the dismissive attitude I encountered from both the local gym staff and corporate representatives is simply appalling. LA Fitness has failed to provide a safe and secure environment for its members, and their lack of empathy and accountability is unacceptable. I strongly advise against entrusting your membership and belongings to this establishment.

What shame for such a good brand that I was loyal too. Equipment is a rusted, the sales staff are very rude, and the bathrooms are just terrible. I wanted a good gym to spend time in and have a healthy experience. unfortunately the uncaring behavior of the staff which is the outcome of old rusted equipment , is waste of your money.

This gym is dirty all the time, even when it's been clean. The equipment is old and is always out of services - for weeks. It's like they don't care. The soap bins in the bathroom, antibacterial pumps in gym area, paper towels and toilet paper bins are usually empty. The stench in the bathroom is unbearable. If you go to Brookhaven or Taco Hills, the nearest and they are 10 times better. This gym has a lot of traffic, and you would think they would try to keep it in good shape. The only thing the gym has going for itself is location. If another gym opened similar in size would be competitive to take the business way. I am surprised there hasn't been an outbreak of staph infections.

Equipment is as old as the gym and is constantly breaking down. Cardio equipment especially. They don’t replace anything as often as they should - management should be taking inventory of things like grips and such which are frequently in need of replacement. Restrooms are absolutely disgusting and locker room is frequently a mess with overflowing trash.

I actually am from Canada. But I have a property across the street. I love my club in Canada. It has so many amenities that I wasn’t really interested in coming to this club because I like to swim. But I decided to start going and honestly, the smaller size has really made me focus on actually working out. As soon as I get there I can see the full workout in my mind and it just makes it easier. Surprisingly, it’s reducing my analysis paralysis. One thing this club exceeds at that my club in doesn’t back home is the friendliness of the staff. They’re always smiling. They actually say hello and they are super helpful. I am looking forward to the rest of this months workout and actually wish I started coming here sooner.

If you like functional training, do not use this gym. There’s one personal trainer that keeps the functional training area roped off and guards it as if she owns the area. There’s one set of ropes and TRX, and you can’t use them at all if she’s there even if it’s not part of her “private sessions.” The other trainers are great and will allow you to use whatever you need as long as they’re not using it. She also keeps all the kettlebells chain linked and locked up to each other so literally the only person that can use kettlebells at this gym is her. I understand wanting to have certain equipment ready to go for clients when they’re paying for personal training, but there’s no need to deny everyone else access to certain equipment just because there’s an active training session.

Also, the facilites are in desperate need of repair or renovation. The lockers rooms stink even if you’re the first person in the door at 5AM.

Unfortunately this is the most convenient location for me during the week, but on weekends I will gladly drive myself 20-30 min out of the way to the beautiful Brookhaven location to avoid dealing with the trainer who believes she owns the place.

Staff is friendly and gym is cleaner than other LA Fitness locations in the area. However, when something is not functioning at this location, they put a scheduled service sign up and they go for many, many weeks without getting it serviced. Both filtered water fountains for refilling water bottles have been out for over a month and counting. The same for a machine that I used personally and informed the staff it wasn’t working.

DO NOT SIGN UP! I would not recommend this gym solely because their customer service is terrible. I decided to freeze my membership and then when i came to unfreeze it i was charged six times $29.99 and they told me on their end it’s not processing and going through but on my bank account it did. I was told to call a separate customer service line and i was hung up on and then called again and was told there is nothing they can do because they have no record of those funds being received by LA fitness. At the end customer service didn’t offer any help or compensation and told me to deal with my bank.

We were lied to about the gym policies about cancellation and membership transfer policies. They don’t know how to train their employees and acted as if we were out of line due to us being lied to. The GM Angel was incredibly unhelpful and rude and they’re just grabbing for money at any chance they get. Steer clear of LA Fitness period.

Wrongly informed me of how to cancel my membership when asked before my billing date. I have recently moved out of town and didn’t inform me properly that I can go into ANY la fitness and cancel instead said I had to wait for the operations manager and cancel with them. Who then told me I had to come in person but after informing me I can do that with ANY operations manager and go to ANY la fitness instead… with waiting a few days I have been charged a new monthly fee, had I been told I can go into any one I could have saved my monthly charge. Thanks for the misinformation.

UPDATE: My lock in the locker room was cut open with bolt cutters and my credit cards were stolen from my gym bag.

Only 3 stair masters but a trillion treadmills and bikes. The free weight area only makes up 10% of the gym because 90% is made up of cardio machines that go unused. This place is a joke.

The gym is solid and has everything I need for a good work out. The dumbbell section can feel a bit cramped at times. All of the staff is super friendly except for one lady who sits at the computers to the left when you walk in. Has her ear buds in when she talks to you. Was not very helpful with my membership questions. Very unprofessional. She's the reason I couldn't give 5 stars

It’s been a few years since I had a LA membership. Got a guest pass last week and gave it a try as I’m thinking about going back to a traditional gym versus ClassPass. It was stinky and steamy and some of the machines were broken. 3 stars because it got the job done. Also forgot how much I don’t like lifting weights around men who make you feel like you can’t workout in private. The lifting area gets packed. Won’t be getting a membership.

LA Fitness is nice but it's not sanitary the bathrooms usually are out of soap or paper towels. They always have trouble with maintenance. Also they've taken away the sanitizer bottles and are not requiring masks which is okay but the main thing is a lot of the equipment doesn't work and is missing parts

Management lazy and useless. I got a membership earlier this year. The club was cool but the issue was that LA v couldn’t bill my card got some reason. No block on my side as it was the same card I used to start my membership, they would try to pull money and couldn’t. I told them this was the only card I was using for this so they needed to uncover why. No one took the time. Instead they called me over and over and kept asking me to change my card which didn’t work for me. I would pay manually in club, they never fixed it, I complained to corporate. Nothing. Their response? Cancel my account. The manager at this location would refuse to get in the phone if I called outside her business hours. She would be there in the background being totally unhelpful. I called today to inquire about why abs was hung up on. Complete trash. Done with LA Fitness.
