I'm just passing through this city and came here. It's a nice, clean, and organized gym. I walked around all the areas, used several machines and the sauna, and I have no complaints whatsoever. I saw a woman cleaning the area, and I can see a good team working from the front desk. I recommend it. If you want to be sure this review is true, come and see for yourself. Everyone has their own opinion and experience, but for me, it's absolutely recommended.

Management do not care about members complaints we're using the same equipment that was there when the gym was open Cycling equipments is old it has been there since this location opened. The sond system is old and not clear., you sometimes hear the other class microphone come through to our Cycling class . Most of time you can't even hear the trainers .
All other gyms around the area have upgraded thire bikes and workout equipment. When you talk to the staff no one listens. I hope you take this feedback seriously!! Member since the opening!!

I walked in and yet another manager was on their phone on FaceTime , barely noticing me to check in my phone number . I have been going to various locations (active&fit ) and I’ve noticed a lot of managers and sales people aren’t very attentive and don’t care much to give good service . Natalie ? I think barely looked up when I came in. I will be looking into other gyms that fall into my insurance very soon , and tell others when I do .

I have been a member for forever and it seems this gym gets worse everyday. There are always several machines scheduled for services but takes forever for them to be serviced. The equipment is old and the weights are always thrown around and never in place. The bathrooms are always dirty and most of the time I have to tell the receptionist there is no paper towels.
It's pretty awful especially knowing the LA Fitness off of Sugarloaf behind Sugarloaf Mills has just be renovated with literally world-class design and equipment.
As you do for one you should do for all!!! We all pay to use the facilities and Mall of GA is a booming spot so it really should get a HUGE FACE-LIFT!!!

Last hour of the gym, lady at the front desk every 5-10 minutes yelling full blast of the speaker reminding grown adults who pay for a membership of the gym closing in one hour. I would understand last 20 or 30 minutes at a decent volume but to be yelling full blast at the speaker when the gym is not a military zone mean while wipes are not restocked and a list of other issues she can put her volume for . Many others at the gym stopping their workout looking bummed out over this . No one at this gym are kids and have to be reminded

Updating my review from crazy Covid times. I’m a truck driver and parking is my first concern, this location is a little tricky but I’ve parked in the back but you can easily get trapped in there if cars pull in, best bet is across the street in the larger parking lot or in the back next door and make the walk. Smells a little funky but hot shower, cold water fountain, all la fitness are getting old and not playing but this one gets the job done and I’d come back.

I’ve been going to the LA Fitness in Buford and overall, it’s a great gym. The space is clean, well-organized, and there’s a wide range of machines and free weights to choose from. I usually go during off-peak hours, and it never feels too crowded. The self-check-in is quick and easy, and the staff are friendly and professional. I’ve had a solid experience so far and will definitely keep coming back.

I used to go to LA Fitness in Suwanee, Georgia, and honestly, this Buford location is very disappointing. To begin with, the machines are extremely old, outdated, damaged, and some are even rusty. There are no paper towels or disinfectant spray available to clean the equipment, which is something you normally find at other LA Fitness locations. There’s also no central turf area for functional training or free exercises without machines. I truly hope management takes this feedback into account and works to improve the facility.

After all these years they still can’t keep the bathrooms clean, always hair in the sinks, and sinks getting clogged because of it, hair all over the floor, the bathroom floors are always wet, barely ever stock up the soap nor paper towels and the bathrooms never smell nice, I literally work in a warehouse (where you’d expect bathrooms to be super dirty) and the bathrooms are more well maintained there and cleaned/disinfected every hour as well as sprayed with fabreeze, which just shows the lack of cleanliness of this gym and just shows that , the staff of the bathrooms here is lazy to do their jobs.

Nice gym, sometimes the bathroom/locker room could use some attention, ie no toilet tissue in multiple restroom stalls, no paper towels in locker room or bathroom, only 1-2 sinks with soap in the dispenser. Outside of that cool staff and patrons, facility is usually clean and well maintained. Majority of the time all the equipment is available, if it’s broken it’s fixed in a timely manner. I go 3-4 days a week, it’s always consistent.

This is staple in my families life. My both of my sons train and play basketball there. My husband and I workout, use the sauna and hot tub. I enjoy tge classes especially Zumba. It can be a bit crowded at times and the showers are frequently untidy. I reccomend.

I have been a LA FITNESS member in and off of 12 years. I have attended the Buford location consistently for the last few years. That is mostly because of the amazing folks that I’ve met along the way but I do not feel that I am a valued customer at Buford.
The gym is often hot , dirty, and they do not fix or replace broken/ malfunctioning equipment. It is a shame. I spin every week but be clear I have no idea of my correct stats because the bikes are not calibrated. Many of them are just broken and the owners leave them in the comer broken for months. No seats, monitors broken, pedals missing and RUSTED. It is a shame.
The owners do not value mY patronage then so be it. I will change gyms.

And I do not recommend that anyone go here. Sugarloaf is fully renovated. Kudos to the owners of that location for investing in their business.

And I hope that LA FITNESS corporate team reads this and I HOPE THEY cares more than the owners of the Buford location.

On top of charging you for non-use, you can only cancel your membership by mailing a form or coming in in person. Reality check - you are not a $1000/month software subscription service that should require these steps (and even then you can often handle billing online), taking more of your customers' valuable time. Thanks LAFitness for wasting more of our time and indirectly money.
Ease of sign-up / cancellation for gym memberships are important for many busy customers.

I went in to talk about my account and the person helping me ( not the front desk they are always kind) could not pull up my account. Even though I have been a member since 2018. I showed them my la fitness app with my scan in QR code and they still could not find it. Then when I told them I come to that location often they almost laughed and said I’ve never seen you then proceeded to tell me they will LET me work out today. After I’ve been paying a monthly due for 7 years !!!!!!!! Not to mention they didn’t help me at all with what I needed for my account so I called the la fitness in Duluth and they found my account immediately and assisted me. I will never go back to the Buford location due to this employees incompetence and rudeness

I’ve been a member here a couple of times for 3-4 years total. This gym is good for a “big box” gym. Lots of equipment for lifting and cardio. Also has lots people during afternoon rush hours but I’ve always been able to get my work done even if I have to wait a bit. It’s normal at most gyms. The bathroom does smell a bit swampy. Overall a good gym for a big gym.

Update: 5/9/25.
Friday morning at 5am. Still not opened by 6:30 am. It’s pretty disappointing and very frustrating to get up early to come 15 minutes to the gym and it not be open because someone else wasn’t able to get up. How is their no backup. There are at least 45 people here that have been waiting or have had to leave because nobody could be bothered enough to open the gym even 1.5 hours past opening time.

What would be so hard just to send out a notice to save 50 people the hassle.

Monthly membership cost is good and generally equipment is in good shape and functional. BUT you might find a paper towel dispenser with paper towels in it on your 4th attempt while walking around the gym, you may or may not find wipes to clean THEIR equipment on any given day and forget about soap to wash your hands. Clean environment for more basic excersise and general machines but not lifter friendly. No free space for setting up hip thrust stations, TRX areas for step ups or anything extra, lunges, or free weights area besides to do chest infront of the mirror. No deadlift areas or spaces designated for open free weights or to sit and stretch. Just alot of machines and cardio areas with alot of hardwood floor. Not meant for carrying weights and using them in different areas, seems too delicate for lifters

Kinda dirty and grungy for a gym. I get that it's older but the facilities are not kept up well for the price and the standards it holds its guests to are rather lacking. Very few wipe stations for how much equipment there is. Hardly anyone wipes off machines or benches after use. People walk around barefoot. Employees are all concentrated up front by the membership recruiting area. Not sure if I'd ever pay to go here TBH. I had a free pass and was visiting from out of town, otherwise I'd probably pick anywhere else.

6.8.22. Changed my review today from a 3 star to a 1 star. I've put up with a lot of poorly taken care of things over the years, but today was icing on the cake and necessitated an updated review. Last week I went into the showers, which they routinely don't clean, and personally showed the GM the disgusting mold in the shower. He said he'd take care of it. A week later... It's still there, so I've taken a picture of it for the world to see and it's included in this review. But the icing in the cake... Was today. The showers hadn't been cleaned in more week, evident by the torn off band aids that remain in the same showers and piles of hair from people cutting their hair in the showed, BUT.... today I went to the showers and there was feces in the shower. Also pictured and attached. I told the GM and u would think this is something that he'd want to attend to immediately. I dressed back out and went out and he said he'd "called the guy and that he'd be back in. Tbh... When u see something like that as a GM, u grab a bucket, bleach and cleaning stuff and u take care of it right away. He was gonna wait til whomever it was came back in to clean it. I'm. Sorry but this CRAP is just literally unacceptable. I've been going here for 15 years... But I'm done soon as the CRUNCH up the street goes in. Absolutely insane neglect of this club. Do not join. (old 3 star review below). If anyone incorporate is reading this.... I'd like a phone call to discuss. Surely u have my number.

Been a member here since they opened. They have a great weight room and facilities. As for keeping it clean... Not so much. Have seen the same piece of bubble gum in the shower for weeks on end.

They've started renting out the pool to a swim school making half of it unusable to members *who pay to use that space.* On top of that they allow children of the opposite sex to walk through the locker room, right by the sauna and shower rooms and lockers... To get to the pool. Sorry, but no little girl should see other grown men naked, and same for boys in the women's locker room. I've approached management of the local club and they're irritated with it too... But the LAF corporate has taken on this contract with the swim school (and this is not the only club that has them) and they just don't care. The local staff has changed since my last review and they're decent and honorable guys. The gym miantenance wise is a little better cared for, but this gym still needs a serious overhaul. It's been 20 years with the same equipment and no real updates. The sauna is still typically pretty disgusting as are the showers. Many dumbells have been missing for years. LAF was once a great gym and this one has the potential to be that... It's corporate that poorly manages it, not the local staff.

I visited this location as we are moving nearby and this is the closest LAF. I've been a member for over 20 years and this location is not maintained as well as the Alpharetta or John's Creek locations. Shower curtains are badly mildewed. Men's lockers are in bad shape and the equipment feels run down. Perhaps this place will be renovated soon. If so please reply with an update. Thanks.

I’ve been a member for nearly 25 years. The only negative experience I’ve had with staff occurred with the previous GM responding to a complaint of mine by saying “Who are you? You’re just a customer.” My complaint was in reference to overhearing a staff member speaking in a loud and vulgar manner about a female customer. To my knowledge, both staff members are no longer with the company.

Current GM Nate is great. He is friendly and is easy to converse with. He updates guests on pending changes/improvements and he just has an overall pleasant demeanor. Front desk staff member Justine actually looks up and greets you with a great smile, making your business feel appreciated. Operations manager Matthew is always moving about getting his hands dirty while ensuring the place runs smoothly. Although he stays busy he is never too busy for a friendly hello.

Overall the new regime is doing great. I didn’t hesitate to escalate my complaint up the L.A. Fitness chain and I hope the folks in the higher echelon of the company see this review and acknowledge what a superb job the Buford staff is doing.

Don’t do it. Poor guest service. That was just the consultation. When I placed a complaint, I was told well we are two different areas but I can see why you are upset. Sorry. It’s okay on my behalf. They lost two memberships in less than a week and we found a better place in less than 30 minutes. I wish you good luck. There are classes for customer service. If you are going to try to get people to join, you may not want to sit there with earbuds on while they are waiting to talk to you and you say the appointment is not for 30 more minutes.

Nathan at front desk was very helpful with ensuring I was assigned a trainer after my original trainer left the buford location. I had been calling asking to speak with the training director, Ryan, which resulted in no response or call backs but the monthly fee was still being drafted out of my account. After 4 attempts, I called the front desk again and Nathan was so helpful and signed me up with a new trainer to finish my sessions. Thanks, Nathan!

LA fitness is very outdated. To pay the same rate as these newer facilities that are also bigger, kind of makes you rethink the membership here. Needs attention and a huge update.

El gym es super grande y tiene muchas maquinas..las clases espectaculares de zumba y bicycle ,a veces el problema son las personas utilizan 3 maquinas a la vez imposibiltanto a las demas personas hacer sus maquinas,aparte duran demasiado tiempo en la maquina y conversan con otras personas o sea perdiendo tiempo de entrenamiento real..deben respetar el tiempo de las otras personas ..

what kind of chaos is going on in Buford??? No matter what day you come and at any time, there is always the same picture - dirt!!!! You can no longer see anything through the glass. and in the sauna it’s just age-old dirt!!! and today the guy was cleaning the women's locker room!!! Don’t you have women to clean??? what kind of attitude???

Parents ,this LA Fitness locations is so privileged to have a kids club team member like Sonia .Sonia is so kind ,caring and attentive with all the children that visit the kids club .My daughter is extremely enthusiastic about our gym visits ,when we don’t make it is like I just ruined her entire day. Thank you Sonia for the care you provide to my daughter .My work out is that much more effective knowing that my daughter is in good hands .

The kids area has restrictive hours - only open 6 days a week for 3 hours per day, and they only allow you to have your kid there for 2 hours max because the place is full of kids and only one lady is there - corporate doesn’t want to pay for another person. Terrible at maintaining the racquetball courts. The lights on courts have been out for years. Air conditioning was broken about half the time in the courts also and took nearly a year to fix. This is despite letting the staff know repeatedly. The paint in the parking lot had worn off so much that there are no parking spot lines. Soap is often out in every single shower. Would not recommend this location.
