Went in for a 3 day pass to try the gym out and was treated with complete disrespect. I have lost over 60lbs outside of a gym environment and wanted to explore improving myself further in a gym; Steven made me feel worthless in that moment. I was only worthy of his time if I was actually going to buy a membership at the end of the three days, which is not how the policy is written. Just based on how I looked he decided I was not going to buy a membership. I was even visiting with long term member of LA Fitness and still wasn’t worthy. I have since found my membership at a different organization and have continued working on myself no thanks to his treatment of me. I definitely don’t want to be where I’m not wanted but think people should be warned of Steven’s behavior ultimately co-signed by this organization.

I would like to start by saying the gym is supposed to be a safe space for people to work on themselves. This is NOT the vibe of a front desk attendant (just on description an Albino Black gentleman) when a new member attempted to get a 3 day pass to try out this gym. He said to this potential customer “do you think she’ll actually use it” to another customer and then proceed to double down when that customer asked him to repeat himself. It is beyond unprofessional especially in an environment that is supposed to be safe and judgement free. Just thought management should know what people’s first impressions of this establishment are.

I was a member back in 18 (before Covid) but I rejoined last month and while I have my gripes with LA Fitness, their Stone Mountain manager Key he’s been very transparent and considerate in his interaction with me. From the day that I met him, he's always welcomed me, listened to me, and helped me commit to my goals. Key cheers me on every time he sees me and that makes me feel supported in my health journey.

My husband and I have been going to this LA Fitness on and off for years and I like the way it's set up. My complaints are regarding cleanliness and maintenance. The carpet needs to be removed because it is disgusting - dirty and stinks. Rugged wood-like tile or the entire floor the same as what's in the free weight area is preferable. Several of the machines are rusty, broken, or just not well maintained. Staff are fine for the most part. I'm annoyed by staff that use the equipment and sit their on their phones forever. It's bad enough that disrespectful members do it.

I love the classes at la fitness STONEMOUNTAIN however the restroom and floor is completely nasty! Now I know customers can leave the restroom nasty but there is no excuse for the floor at 9:30am in the morning! Please mop and clean up! Ppl want to go to the sauna and workout and relax not have to look at completely disgusting floors that looks like it haven’t been mopped properly in months!

If you are a woman or a veteran, steer clear from this place! The gym itself is a typical LA Fitness, nothing fancy. However, the ego-male driven management is where I draw the line. I came in as a guest and experienced the most hostile encounter with the management team, it was so bad I called and filed a complaint with their corporate office. They definitely loss an easy membership and I essentially ended up getting a membership across the street at Fitness Connection! Extremely satisfied with that decision lol.

Someone mentioned that the manager only responds to the 5 star reviews. I'm interested to know why.
The equipment is quite old but usable. My big concern is with the showers. The area is in a real need of a renovation. Even the ceiling is dirty. It could be just me but it smells like urine everywhere. I can't understand why that is unless people are urinating in the gym, locker room, and shower area. It's easier for me to go to this location during the week but I might have to think about changing my schedule.

This gym has completely fallen off. The basketball court has had no AC for 2 MONTHS – it feels like playing in a sauna. People are passing out from heat, but management doesn’t care. Instead of fixing real problems, they’d rather micromanage guests and act like they’re running a prison.
Management is rude, unprofessional, and clearly not qualified. This location used to be decent 4–5 years ago, but now it’s easily the worst gym in the state. Broken equipment, no urgency, no communication, and zero respect for paying members.
If you’re thinking about signing up – don’t. You’ll regret it.

I like this location, staff are friendly, cleaners are visible and it’s spacious. However, some renovations are overdue. There is still carpet in here which needs to be changed to wood ; the carpet smells and is patched in certain places. And the roof has leaked on occasions.

I am writing to formally express my concern regarding an unpleasant interaction I had at your facility involving one of your staff members, Sales Manager Nicholas Mullinax.
During my recent visit, I approached Mr. Mullinax with a simple request to have a piece of gym equipment inflated. His response was dismissive and unprofessional. He stated, "I'm not doing that. I don't know what to tell you," without offering any assistance or directing me to someone who could help. At the time, he appeared to be preoccupied with his phone and continued texting during our interaction, which further contributed to the perception of disinterest and disregard for customer service.
This level of unprofessionalism is disappointing, particularly from someone in a management position who is expected to lead by example and support members of the gym. I hope this matter is taken seriously and addressed appropriately to ensure a more respectful and helpful environment for all members.

I want to give a big shoutout to Britney at the front desk at the LA Fitness on Stone Mountain Hwy (early morning crew). I’ve been struggling to stay consistent with my workouts, and most mornings it’s a real fight just to make it to the gym after getting off my overnight 12hr shift. But every time I walk in and see Britney, her warm welcome and positive energy completely change my mood. She makes the place feel inviting and encouraging, something I genuinely appreciate. Thank you, Britney, for making it easier to show up and push through.

I’m very disappointed with how LA Fitness handled a recent payment issue. I received five separate phone calls about a payment that didn’t go through, which I found to be excessive and honestly felt like harassment.
Mind you, I had already informed them that I was using a digital card and was waiting for my physical card to arrive in the mail. Despite giving them a clear explanation, they still continued to call me multiple times.
Instead of repeatedly calling, they could have easily sent a reminder email or text message—a far more appropriate and respectful way to notify someone. One notice is more than enough, especially when I had already communicated the situation.
If the payment was such a concern, LA Fitness could have just put a temporary hold on the account or canceled the membership. There was no need for repeated phone calls that came off as pushy and inconsiderate.
This experience really left a bad impression. I hope LA Fitness reviews how they handle billing issues moving forward, especially when customers have already explained their circumstances.

I've gone to this location since it was built and LA Fitness since it first arrived in Atlanta 25 years ago. This location is at its worst and that is due, most likely, to the management. Last time I came to this location I was almost hit in the face with a dumbbell when I walked into the sauna, because more and more frequently guys are working out in the sauna, which is not what the sauna is designed for and cannot accommodate safely people exercising in a small, congested room. I told management about that as I left the club and recommended putting a sign on the door saying not to work out in their. I avoid this club at all costs, but I was on this side of town today, so I went in again. I walked into a lukewarm sauna, packed to the gills, with gangster rap music being played like we're in jail cell and guys are in there working out. As an older man and an extreme minority in the neighborhood, and the fact that I came in there to relax and sweat out some stress, I didn't feel comfortable trying to regulate the sauna, TODAY, but I do quite frequently. I should not have to regulate the sauna or any other part of the club, because that is what management is paid to do. This is the second time I spoke to the manager about working out in the sauna, and I don't know what this guy is doing in his nightlife, but talking to him is like talking to a lava lamp. When you speak to him the words do not register, as if he doesn't see any issue with what I'm telling him. He doesn't see issue with old men having to sit in there because they're old and not built to deal with Hooligans they have to sit in there and suffer through gangster rap music blaring and guys doing workouts in a 10 by 12 room with 10 men in that room. Maybe if he was more concerned with the fact that it's his building and he is the one that's responsible for making it honorable, and not being covered in tattoos and tight pants to come in there and look pretty for somebody, I don't know who, the patrons to the club we have a better experience. I came to this guy last time with the issue, which concerned safety and health, and the condition has worsened, so now I'm going to explore other avenues about rectifying the situation, since when I address this gentleman with the issue of safety in fairness, all he's trying to do, it seems, is find issue with me. I may be a minority, but I'm from georgia, unlike this guy, and I attended Elementary Middle School and High School right down the street from this club. And the guy covered in tattoos, I think he's Puerto rican, which is not a big deal, but he is not from Georgia and he's trying to make me feel like a foreigner in a club that I've been coming to since it was built. He told me I don't have to come back to this club. Instead of saying I will make the sauna and the club a safe and fair place, he told me not to come back to his Club, in essence, saying if that's what you desire I cannot provide safety and fairness, that is not my style. He's basically saying, from my interaction with him, that I come in here to wear tight pants and be covered in tattoos, not to make the building I'm responsible for safe and honorable.

This location has the rudest staff ever! They literally are so rude and try to close the showers a whole 30 minutes prior to closing. La fitness is open until 10pm and as a paying member, I’m paying to use all of the amenities until 10pm during the week. This is the only location where they act as if they’re only scheduled until 10pm. I honestly believe they act like that because they’re senior citizens and are ready to get in the bed, but honestly if the facility closes at 10pm they should be scheduled until 10:30 to get all of their cleaning and organizing done. Per the LA fitness agreement, it says that we have access to all of the amenities during the available open hours. The manager needs to advise them that they can clean the showers 15 minutes prior to closing but that it’s not officially closed until 10pm. They’re doing a disservice to those of us who leave work, come to the gym to get a good sweat in and aren’t able to shower prior to heading home. Honestly, no one is taking 30 minute shower at the gym. It typically only takes people 10-15 minutes at the most because the water doesn’t stay hot that long. I’ll be writing an email to the area manager to get down to the bottom of this.

I take my hats off the the cleaning crew. Not sure how they keep up with members that opt to throw trash on the floor right next to a trash can and leave water bottles everywhere. The manger has managed to turn the environment around in a short time with a staff of two from what I’ve seen. We would appreciate some new equipment and replacement carpeting. Keep up the good work. The staff is very much appreciated.

Did the 3 day pass and thought the gym was just ok. Staff seemed nice, equipment was good and the place was pretty clean. Basketball court was inaccessible as there seems to be a 24 hour full court playground game going on at all times. Lol. The three days I went the place absolutely REEKED of weed though. That might be a positive or a negative for you. I would doubt anyone’s smoking inside but people are definitely getting high in the parking lot before going in to shoot hoops and/or work out. I’m too old for nonsense and this seems like the kind of place where things could get out of hand quickly. Hard pass for me!

*Just a quick edit as an observation: notice how the owner NEVER responds to the negative reviews on here, only the positive. Typically means that they are paying or nudging those reviewers to leave those reviews to boost the gym’s overall rating, without putting in the work to actually improve the quality of the gym. Really sad. FC across the street sends out member surveys every month for member feedback and actually responds to feedback- something that I never saw this gym do in the two years I was there.*
I was a member here for 2 years, and didn’t leave a review for a very long time. There were days I would give this gym 4 stars, and there were days I would give it 1 star. Let’s go over the why:
Pros: No one can deny that this gym has a ton of equipment, tons of free weights, and lots of amenities, especially the pool. The cleaning staff is always walking around and cleaning, and is really the only portion of staff that makes an attempt to look busy.
Cons: Lots of equipment, but they are old, falling apart, and often remain broken for weeks, sometimes months. Lots of free weights, but they are NEVER organized. Staff outright refuses to address this problem, even after speaking with multiple managers and corporate staff. You will spend an extra half an hour trying to find your dumbbells, as they will never be put back in their proper place (if at all), and there are way too many weights for you to have to sift through to find the one you’re looking for. The pool was broken at least once a month, sometimes for several weeks at a time. There was a shooting a couple years back that staff/management said they were working toward preventing, yet none of the rules they enacted to do so have ever been enforced. As far as the staff: if it’s not the cleaning staff, they will sit on their phone/computer for hours and will not acknowledge you or any concerns you have. I’ve informed staff on duty that the bathrooms are out of soap and toilet paper, and they simply continue to sit on their phone and will inform the cleaning staff so that they can get to eventually. You’ll also never see the same staff there for more than a couple of months- I’ve never seen such a high turnover from any business. I later found out by talking to corporate that if a complaint is made against the staff, they resort to just laying off the whole staff and hiring new workers. News flash: that’s not the best way to run your business. I’ve seen those same former staff members go to gyms in the area (PF, Fitness Connection, Crunch), and they are so much nicer and actually do their jobs happily. Finally, the locker rooms at this facility boast lockers that are dated and falling apart, and the bathrooms and showers are covered in mold.
Overall: I really encourage members here to look elsewhere, and see what they’re missing out on. I just looked at this club’s rates, and they have skyrocketed up from what they used to be- they went from $30/month to $40-45 a month! Let’s put this into perspective: if you want a clean gym that has none of the cons I listed above, go to the Planet Fitness across the street- they are $10/month. If you need free weights and can’t do PF, go to Fitness Connection across the street- brand new gym with brand new equipment, also $10/month. You need a pool or cycling classes? There’s a YMCA 10 minutes down the road. I have been to really nice LA Fitnesses, and it’s really depressing that they can’t even attempt at keeping standards across all locations, including this location. I would love to see improvement from this location and have given countless feedback to staff members and corporate employees to do so. However, after two years of trying (and many years before that of the same issues I listed, based on other reviews I see on here), it seems like they have no interest in improving this location, as well as many others in the Atlanta area

Been a member at this location for 11 years. Took at 6 month break from this gym and have been going to a new gym. Today, I decided to stop by to do a quick session. Machines were still worn and rusted from a roof leak a few years ago. The air still smells moldy. The dust bunnies under the machines are still there. Seat still drops on you, on the right pec fly machine. Also, had a bad interaction with a rude older guy, thinking he owns the machines. Second incident with this person. I noticed he jumped on another machine, when another customer was waiting patiently for the machine to free up. This location needs a big overhaul.

Seven years ago, I used to frequent several Cobb County LAF locations but this location was my favorite because of the mature crowd. Now that I’ve moved to the area many years later the crowd is still the highlight but the carpet is yucky and the equipment is old and rusty. The ceilings leak, causing them to rope off wet equipment and still I remained loyal to this location. Then one day I had company in town that asked to join me and when I sent the vip guest link from the app it didn’t work. Then the front desk rep charged me $20 stating it is a new policy as of 3 months ago. That was a lie.
I’ve since joined a new gym with a similar mature crowd, new equipment, ceilings that do not leak and free 7 day guest passes!
2 stars for the crowd only zero for the environment and lies.

When I checked Ty and Morgan welcomed me as if I was a regular. We talked briefly and they were personable and kind When my earbud fell under a machine Morgan smiled and said no problem got Marilyn and Ty to retrieve.and reassured me that this had happened before. I went to this LA Fitness to get signed up for membership and start getting my physical life back in order.
I had a great (fun) conversation with the general manager - Leon and Ryan. While there were a couple of computer glitches, we still got everything worked out.
The location and equipment are spotless and well-maintained, everyone seems friendly and happy to work there (which makes an unbelievable difference)

Most annoying employees when it’s closing.
30 minutes before closing the guy at the front repeatedly tells you how long you have to workout “21 minutes left, 18 minutes left,10 minutes guys wrap up the treadmill go shower,etc” not an enjoyable workout when he’s constantly talking in the microphone.

So-so. It is okay. It has enough equipment to get my workout done. There are some machines it only has one of. This irks me since there are people who spend 15 min just sitting on the machine looking at their cellphone. I have had times when I have had to skip part of my workout waiting for the only machine. That being said, I am not totally dissatisfied with this gym. I do wish they would be open later on weekdays and weekends. They close at 10 pm on weekdays (wish it was midnight) and weekend hours are very limited... I hate having to plan around gym hours.

I’ve been a member of this gym for nearly 15 years now and I use all the amenities! The sauna and jacuzzi are my favorites these days (I’m getting older). Affordable and convenient. My membership allows me access to any location. It’s great when traveling, because I can maintain my fitness routine while traveling. It’s a beautiful thing!! And I had my Hydro Elite water bottle on my hip to stay hydrated.

Gym is filled with broken equipment and has the atmosphere of a funeral home. I have never had a harder time cancelling a membership as they make it nearly impossible to. With a 40$ monthly fee and 75$ initiation fee, this is the last gym I would ever recommend signing up for.

Leon took the time to understand my needs and preferences, and he went above and beyond to ensure I received the best possible deals. He even arranged a complimentary trial session for me to experience the gym firsthand.
What stood out to me the most about Leon was his genuine willingness to assist and his consistent professionalism throughout our interaction. Despite contacting other locations, none of the coaches provided the same level of attention and assistance as Leon did.
Although I ultimately decided to join another gym, I highly recommend speaking to Leon if you're considering La Fitness.

I’ve had a membership for almost 10 years and due to CoVid almost two years I’ve been charged for a membership that I wasn’t able to use. Today I asked for a hand towel and the consultant said I would have to refer two people to get a hand towel. Clearly this is the wrong move, I will be canceling this membership. The gym is fine it’s the personal for me.

I’ve been a member at LA Fitness for quite some time now; visited many locations both in and out of state. I can wholeheartedly say that this location is by far one of my favorites. I work out in this gym everyday, the facility is nice and spacious with a great cleaning and maintenance staff. The over staff is incredibly helpful and professional, particularly Leon and Chavonne who I believe are the managers. Leon is very kind, attentive, and he cares about the facility. You will always see him on the floor making sure weights are put away properly, and other equipment is back in their respective places. Chavonne always makes it a priority to speak to me as well as other members. Which sets the tone for a great experience in the gym. She also does an excellent job of controlling situations. The atmosphere is very motivating and I've noticed a significant improvement in my fitness since joining. I highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a welcoming and effective workout environment.

There are no issues with the gym itself, but just like anywhere you go, don't leave items of value in your car. I came out after a good workout, and there were several cars broken into. And this was broad day around 12 noon. The police camers in the parking lot did not deter.

If you rely on the kids club the get a workout in this place is not reliable, I drive 25+ minutes to get a workout in just to find out the kids club is closed, something a simple message in the app can solve, they even get your number when you enroll your child, so why not create a group chat for all parents signed up for the kids club and give us a heads up at least. This is such an easy fix and shouldn’t even be a problem. Do better!

I only give 2 stars because of good customer service. The gym itself isn't very clean, the weight isn't put back to it original place... I saw a weight laying around in the sauna room. Overall, i wouldn't go back unless I don't have any gym to go to.

I have a great time going to the Cycling classes there over the weekends. Only downfall is the Women’s sauna room is never hot when I go there, I always have to call the front desk for someone to come and attend to the temperature.

DO NOT COME HERE, i allowed my two boys (yes of age) to come here to see what that gym is about. They had a vip pass! But was told they could not unless they paid the employee $20 dollars! Then whats the point of the vip guest pass? Then after he was told about that not making sense. He then told them they had to sign up, in order to see what the gym was about. He did not show them no paper saying they have to pay. He just asked them for money. Why are you trying to milk these kids for money? Before i subscribed, no one told me to pay ANYONE $20 nor told me i had to sign up in order to use my guest pass! I am highly disappointed! And when i asked him why they cant see what this gym is about. He said “why would they need to, if its a gym”… I dont know sir maybe Bc not all gyms are the same and people would like to see what they are putting their money into…

Update: The “general manager” called to rectify the situation and although he was nice, I’m still thoroughly unimpressed. He adamantly promised a month free if I gave them a chance. Even in my distaste, I still joined because the membership is good at all locations. However, he did not extend the 1 month free. He was nice because he was trying to get my business but he does not listen. I shared that I do not have children, and he used the kid zone as a selling tactic multiple times. I shared my fitness goals, in which I never mentioned weight not one time, yet on the whole tour he’s saying, “this will really help you lose weight.”
So I still joined, and I’m hopeful to have a better experience at a the Toco Hills location.
I am writing this from my car in the parking lot fuming.
I have been paying $325 a month to train with a personal trainer in a gym in the city. I’m finally ready to work out independently, and closer to home, so I scheduled a tour at the Stone Mountain LA Fitness for 9am. I was completely prepared to pay for my membership and start today.
When I arrived, I was not greeted by the older lady at the desk, I had to approach her. I let her know I had a tour scheduled and she just said the person is not here.
I asked why schedule if he’s not here. She just shrugged her shoulders and didn’t try to resolve the issue at all. Another gentleman walked up and said he would do the tour, but give him 5 minutes. I was immediately irritated. I waited about 2 minutes and then decided to leave, then he’s suddenly ready. I said, “No thanks, I’m good.” And he said “ok then,” and I left.
You get what you pay for and I see that’s little to nothing at this location. I am always recommending fitness centers to my patients but I would never refer them to this location.
I am big on customer service. This is a big city with a lot of money and too much competition for them to be this irresponsible and unprofessional. Perhaps they assumed because I’m a full figured woman that I don’t work out and wasn’t worth their time & energy. Who knows? But I have a feeling that if I looked different I would have been treated better.

I come to this gym every morning for years now. For the life of me can they get someone to clean up in the evening. I'm constantly putting up weights walking around trying to find weights. Its like every 3 months it will be clean then the staff gets fired and the gym goes back dirty. I use to see a lady clean every morning then she was fired the next person they hired sleeps in the gym and never comes to the weight part and clean up. I just wish they was more consistent with cleaning the whole gym and not just the bathrooms. I doubt the machines get cleaned at all anymore

For being a GM Jared knows nothing about service. One of his colleges who no longer works for LA Fitness did not provide my husband with correct information and when I spoke to Jared he could not resolve the issue. Jared said it was my husbands fault for not reading the contract when he does not speak the language (it was translated) and Jared never took ownership. I have worked in customer service and when you really know about service the customer is always right. You do not sit there in blame the customer when your employee translated the contract but did not disclose everything. What a shame that he is in the service industry and working for a well know company.

The setup for this LA is different. It only has one floor. It looked good anyways it had swimming pool, basketball 🏀 court and the rest. Now it was easy to find all of the leg, arm and other machine. The machine were line up. The place was clean to a point. Bathroom was disappointing. Showers were a bit dirty and broke. The bike 🚴 place was perfect and different. sauna room was good and it let me turn off the lights
