Doing prenatal yoga has been a healing experience for me. I'm so grateful for Lauren for hosting such amazing weekly yoga sessions for us pregnant ladies. I've become much more attuned with my body and baby and advocating for myself. My husband and I also took her Passage to Birth couples class and we loved every minute of it!

Can’t recommend Lauren’s partner class enough. It was time really well spent for both my husband and me - it was informative, grounding, and made us both feel closer to one another and confident heading into baby #2.

It was sooo much more than what we expected and I’m so grateful for the knowledge and empowerment Lauren gave us during the class. It was worth every second. Her class has made me excited and confident for my birth experience. Thank you so much Lauren, and I look forward to attending more of your classes

The Partnered Prenatal Yoga class was nothing short of amazing. The calm & intimate setting provided my wife and I with a safe space to focus on each other, our movements, and our little one! I felt that the educational portion of the class was most valuable.

We learned about patient rights, how to read body language, and how I, "The Dad", can be a contributing partner to the delivery process. 10 Star Review!

My husband and I had the best time at Lauren’s Passage to Birth class! We both walked away feeling more at ease about how to navigate the unknowns of birth, and more connected to one another as a result. We’re excited for what’s to come! Lauren is personable, kind, and informative, and shares all information in a relatable way. We would highly recommend and happily take any of her classes!

I had the most empowering, wonderful birthing experience! I attribute a lot of that to Meraki Mama and their services. Prenatal yoga is a must. Especially Lauren, as our doula she provided loving, tender support and education for both my husband and I throughout our journey. I really could not recommend her enough!! We were treated so wonderfully and felt so prepared, even though baby girl came 4 weeks early and we had to deliver at the hospital- Lauren cultivated our birthing space to be soft and warm, and was the best advocate. After birth we felt the support as well, client care is a holistic experience and the best in ATL! I feel so empowered as a mama, thank you thank you thank you! It would not have been the same without Meraki Mama.

Lauren guided me through both of my pregnancies. She listened to my wishes/concerns, provided advice, and advocated for me in the birthing room. She is a calming, beautiful soul.

Lauren is not just a standard doula that attends your birth when you text that you’re in labor; she is also a spiritual worker who aids in the transition from maiden to mother. She also invites your partner for a couples session because she knows the significance of becoming parents and a family and what that change can mean for a a couple. She is a calm and firm presence during your birth - she adapts and helps to whatever a mother needs in the moment and did this for me. She never let me doubt that I couldn’t give birth naturally (even when I went in thinking I would get an epidural) and was a witness to me as I was processing everything that was happening during labor and after labor. Lauren will see you through to the other side and hold space for you while you do it. She is a gift to any woman transitioning to mother.

I am incredibly grateful that I discovered Meraki Mama during my first pregnancy — from the prenatal yoga classes to Lauren and her incredible doulas/team. The environment Lauren and her team create is open, empathetic, empowering and everything I didn’t know I needed during my pregnancy. Moving to ATL, I was looking for community and a place to learn more about my body, health and birth options throughout my first pregnancy —this was absolutely it! I would recommend Meraki for any new or existing mothers looking to be empowered and learn about the beauty and journey of motherhood. With incredible gratitude 💙

I did prenatal yoga with Lauren at Meraki Mama Collective through most of my pregnancy with my second son and it was absolutely incredible. Taking time for me and to connect with my baby was so important especially as a second time mom since I didn’t have a lot of alone time. The support Lauren offered was amazing and I felt so comfortable to open up to her and the community. My baby was breech and the emotional and physical support I got through her prenatal yoga class helped me immensely. The fact that Lauren is an SLP like me was icing on the cake because we got to connect on that level as well. I could write all day about how great Lauren is, but I’ll leave it at this: 10/10, highly recommend! Don’t miss out!

Meraki Mama and Lauren, the founder, has been a blessing throughout my motherhood journey, and I can't recommend the services enough.

When I was pregnant with my first, I was looking for prenatal yoga classes and discovered Meraki Mama. The class, led by Lauren, wasn’t just about yoga, though you will get a good workout—it was a supportive space to talk openly about the fears and uncertainties of pregnancy and motherhood with other mamas. Lauren’s guidance was so comforting and insightful that I knew she had to be my doula. She’s incredibly knowledgeable about the birth space and has many resources in the Atlanta area. Through her, I found a prenatal chiropractor and attended a lactation consultant’s class, both of whom were part of Lauren’s "Intentionally Birth" doula/prenatal yoga program.

The doula services provided by Lauren are invaluable. Lauren facilitated a healing couples energy session for my husband and me. She came to our house and had an in-depth discussion about my birth plan, which helped me feel prepared. Though my first birth happened incredibly fast, and I didn’t have the birth experience I’d initially envisioned, Lauren was there for us. She arrived just as the baby was placed in my arms, but she had already been guiding us on the phone while driving to the hospital—ensuring that we had been supported the entire time and helping us communicate with the hospital staff to ensure everything went smoothly.
Postpartum was challenging. Whether it was helping with small tasks around the house or just being a listening ear to talk through the hardships of motherhood, Lauren was there for me and my family every step of the way.

For my second birth, my husband and I knew we had to have Lauren again. We felt confident in her guiding us through the next phase, 2-under-2. We had all the same services and a well-planned birth plan, which led to a better birth experience. Lauren made sure I had all the resources and support I needed, especially during the postpartum period.

Lauren and Meraki Mama are truly remarkable. She has the compassion, dedication, and knowledge to be the support system every mama needs. Think of her as your big sister and best friend—there to guide you through the challenges of pregnancy, birth, and motherhood with love and expertise. If you’re considering any of the services she offers, you won’t regret it!

I can't recommend Meraki Mama Prenatal Yoga highly enough! I had the privilege of attending classes here during two of my pregnancies, and the experience was truly transformative. From the moment I stepped in, I felt embraced by a supportive and nurturing community, led by an incredibly knowledgeable yoga instructor and doula who understands the physical, emotional, and spiritual journey of pregnancy.

The classes are thoughtfully designed to prepare your body for birth and postpartum recovery, but they go beyond that—they nurture your mind and soul, too. The instructor’s deep understanding of both yoga and childbirth brings a sense of calm and confidence, helping you connect with your body and your baby in ways I hadn't anticipated.

The class check-ins are a wonderful touch, creating a space where you can share, bond, and learn from other mamas-to-be. I’ve made lasting friendships through these classes that continue to support me as a mom.

Meraki Mama Prenatal Yoga is so much more than a yoga class—it’s a holistic, empowering experience that makes you feel grounded, prepared, and deeply connected to your journey into motherhood. I’m so grateful for this beautiful community and everything it’s given me.

The Best Doula Experience Ever!

I can’t recommend Lauren enough! She was such a game changer for me during my pregnancy, birth, and postpartum journey. From the moment we connected, I felt so supported and understood. Lauren isn’t just a doula; she’s like your go-to person for everything you didn’t even know you needed during such a big time in your life.

Her prenatal yoga sessions? Amazing. They weren’t just workouts; they were moments where I could reconnect with my body, find some peace, and even prep mentally for labor. I walked out of every session feeling stronger, calmer, and way more confident about what was coming.

When it came time for labor, Lauren was everything I needed and more. She brought this calming energy that just made me feel like, “Okay, I’ve got this.” Whether it was helping me focus through contractions or just being that reassuring presence in the room, she made such a stressful time feel manageable and even empowering.

And postpartum? She was right there, making sure I wasn’t just surviving but thriving. Her postnatal yoga was such a vibe! It helped me feel like myself again physically and mentally. Plus, she was full of practical tips and emotional support that made navigating those early weeks with my baby so much easier.

If you’re thinking about working with Lauren, do it. She’s the kind of person who makes you feel like you’re not just her client—you’re family. She truly made this whole experience so much better, and I can’t imagine having done it without her!

Being punctual is a sign of maturity and most importantly RESPECT… I ALWAYS arrive early to my classes. One incident in particular I arrived extremely early for a class this day and simply hung out the the parking lot until the class was supposed to start which was 5pm. I walk up to the door baby on my hip and the door is locked all lights off, this was between 4:40-4:50pm. Any other class I attended I have no problem arriving 10 min early as the instructor should be respectful of others time and hopefully have or be preparing the room for students. They give you no way to get in touch with the instructors or message to communicate instructor/student is running late. No one responds to emails and I have only had communication through Instagram messenger with a nameless person. This mystery person advised that the instructor was there and only opened the doors at about 5min before the class….. with the studio looking completely vacant I left and went home. Come today a get a recurring charge to my bank. I assumed because I only purchased a 4month membership back in December it would expire and not be billed again. They provide zero information on how to cancel the membership and refuse to issue any refund. I would like this membership cancelled and refunded for April with it was renewed without my approval!

In response to the owner: Nothing about my review is malicious, it’s my unfortunate experience. Additionally, I received one on one attention only due to the fact that I was the only person to attend the classes… get real.

I hired Lauren to be my doula after attending her prenatal yoga sessions (which I loved!). Unfortunately, I had a poor experience. Prior to birth, we were to have an initial meeting to get to know each other better, discuss my birth plan, and I wanted her to meet my partner. Lauren cancelled our meeting on two occasions for personal reasons. My baby then came 9 weeks early. Due to the unexpected timing, Lauren was unable to attend. She did do a quick FaceTime with us, however, I would not have chosen to have her at my birth as I still felt she had not taken the time to get to know me one on one, knew nothing of my birth plan/hopes (even for this changing situation), and had never met my partner. I then had a traumatic birth and my preemie baby spent the next 45 days in the NICU. Lauren failed to follow up or check in on me. After a week, I reached out to her myself voicing my disappointment in not hearing from her. She of course had her excuses. Because she had never met with us or performed any doula services and I was preparing for a hefty NICU bill, I asked about a refund on our deposit. She explained she had declined other clients to hold the space for us. However, it was still two months away and I’ll remind you she had yet to meet with us. Presumably she could still meet with another couple. At this point, I no longer felt comfortable moving forward in any way with Lauren including through yoga. It was an unfortunate loss as I really did enjoy the community aspect of the classes. I was hopeful for some much needed support. And was sorely disappointed and let down.

The space that Lauren creates for the birthing community is truly healing.
I worked with her as my doula, as well as my pre/postnatal yoga and Pilates instructor.
All of this, along with the community surrounding it, has undoubtedly made my motherhood journey the beauty it is.
If you’re in this season, look no further. This is your home.

The perinatal yoga teacher training is FANTASTIC. Lauren gave us the tools to safely guide pregnant and postpartum students through yoga specifically created for the perinatal body. This training really opened my eyes to so many (more) of the disparities within the birthing community. This training played a huge part in enrolling in additional birthwork and wanting to do my part in helping bridge the gap between expecting parents and new aged ideologies surrounding birth. I will forever be grateful for my experiences at Meraki 💕

My husband and I were so fortunate to have found a connection with Chawnie and Lauren. To have a team of such inspiring women on our side is a blessing. As first time parents-to-be, we have found that our fears about the unknown are calmed, and it’s like they speak our language! We find comfort knowing they are as experienced as they are, and we have a fair amount in common with them as well. (Team Virgo!)
Lauren and Chawnie are delightful humans and we know they will go to bat for us on the big day if things start to deviate from our birth plan. We look forward to a continuing friendship with these 2 bright lights.

I can’t wait to dive into more classes, (especially the Pilates Body one)!Thank you, Lauren!

I hired Lauren Shields for a private party for my 35th birthday. I was looking for a spiritual experience I could share with my closest friends and family where we could reflect on the tough year we had and have a safe space to reflect on where we are and share some feelings we may need sorted and really just BE and FEEL whatever emotions we needed to feel within our sisterhood. Lauren delivered and then some!!!! The energy she brings so beautiful. It’s not something you can really describe, just know it lingers long after she’s gone and it’s so positive and warm. Lauren did a private reading for everyone at my party followed by an amazing group sound bath where we ended the night sharing our deepest thoughts. I couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful night! My happiest birthday yet! ❤️

I went to Meraki starting around 23 weeks pregnant. I went 3-4 times a week until I literally had my first labor contraction after my prenatal yoga class in their lobby! I cannot say enough great things about not just this studio, but this community. I went back for my first postpartum yoga class with my little one in tow this past week and I almost burst into tears several times. The mind and body connection that we need as mothers is so incredibly important and this studio provides that. This is the support that I always wished existed and then I found Meraki. If you’re expecting or postpartum do yourself a favor and try a class there is no way you won’t be begging to go back. Thank all the ladies of Meraki- especially the owner Lauren-(whom I also hired as my doula) they’ve changed my life for the better!

This review is long overdue - my baby turns one this week and as I reflect on my experience of this time last year, I'm finally able to put into words what Meraki Mama and Lauren has meant to me. I was fortunate enough to have Lauren by my side as my doula through my labor. I had my husband with me - who was wonderful and helpful and caring - but I feel like it goes without saying - he's never given birth before. As a first time mom, I thought my husband would be enough support. But my midwife recommended I get a doula and to this day, I'm forever thankful I listened. When my contractions were one minute apart and piggy backing off of each other, I can't think of a better person to have coach me, support me, motivate me, reassure me, and oddly enough - calm me...than Lauren. A husband or birth partner is a wonderful support system to have, and completely necessary - but adding in a doula adds an element of "I can do this". Sparing you the details of my difficult labor, I desperately wanted a natural birth. But when that couldn't happen and a cesarean became inevitable, Lauren was there the whole time. I was scared, shattered, and in disbelief at my own body. Somehow, having Lauren there empowered me to pull through. Imagine having someone support you through the worst pain of your life, being terrified of what's to come next and NOT being annoyed by that person - rather trusting and respecting everything she says. She even helped me get my baby to latch immediately. Some people are lucky enough to find their calling. Lauren found hers. And anyone fortunate enough to have her by their side during their transformation into motherhood will be forever grateful. Just like I am. She has created a community of mothers with Meraki Mama and those of us who are involved (even a little) are better because of it. Postpartum is hard - I mean, look, it took me a year to write a review. It somehow feels manageable knowing other women are going through the same thing.

We’ve all heard about people who emit a “light”...well, Lauren Shields (owner/instructor) is a shining example of this.

Meraki Mama Collective is a warm, welcoming, supportive & compassionate space for expectant mothers, new moms, & all things prenatal/delivery/post-partum. In addition to prenatal/post-partum yoga, Pilates & Barre classes, Meraki offers comprehensive doula services as well as breastfeeding/lactation support classes. Lauren Shields is extremely knowledgeable about all things pregnancy & childbirth (obviously), but she’s also extremely knowledgeable about human anatomy/physiology, & she knows how to work with you & your body. She’s great at explaining things & meeting you where you’re at — classes include a range of attendees with different levels of fitness & past yoga experience, yet Lauren still manages to individualize the practice to each & every person in the class.

I highly recommend this place & the wonderful work this woman does...the world needs more people like Lauren Shields!

I came here just to take a few prenatal yoga classes, but was surprised by how much more Meraki offers. It's not only about the workouts, but also education, support, and a welcoming community for first-time Moms that I didn't realize could be so helpful for a first-time Mom!

I've been taking classes at Meraki since I was about 20 weeks pregnant. I'm a runner and was looking to stay fit as I got further along in my pregnancy and had to back off on the running. In addition to Pre-Natal yoga, I took Meraki Method classes into my 3rd trimester to fill my need for higher-energy workouts. All the instructors I've had are moms themselves, and offer lots of insight and wisdom about pregnancy and motherhood in addition to the workout itself. I feel like I always learn something new with every class.

In addition to workouts, I also took breastfeeding classes and am currently attending a weekly group class offered by Breastfeed Atlanta at Meraki. My husband and I also took a Fourth Trimester class to help prepare us both for life the first few months after giving birth.

I love Meraki and can't recommend it highly enough for pregnant moms-to-be and new moms. Try a class, you won't regret it!

There are so many amazing things I can say about this business. I was introduced to Lauren in the late months of my pregnancy while experiencing significant sciatica which had stopped me from all physical activity. When I decided to try the prenatal yoga class to see if I could remain somewhat active prior to labor. Lauren’s encouragement, energy, knowledge and her ability to modify moves to avoid injury made me feel very safe and empowered to continue with a healthy routine.
Coincidentally, I had always wanted to have a natural birth with the support of a doula. Lauren was an integral part of my labor journey and helping me achieve my goals. I recently just had my first child and in need of getting my core strong again and try to slowly work on getting my prebaby body and Meraki Mama studio's is the perfect spot for it. They have child care available on site or most of the classes allow you to have your baby and child with even wear them while the class is going on which is AWESOME! I have taken 2 barre classes and loved both so much. I am taking the post natal pilate class next week and cant wait to go back!
