Very disappointing experience tonight （Oct 22）around 10:30pm. The front desk staff （the guy）deliberately made things difficult for me and refused to let me in, even though it’s clearly my own account. I already tried to fix the issue before and was told it would be updated, but apparently nothing was done.

I’ve been a loyal member and have never had this kind of problem before — it felt completely unnecessary and disrespectful. Planet Fitness is supposed to be a “Judgment Free Zone,” but that’s definitely not how I was treated tonight.

I was sitting near the front desk tonight and saw the whole thing happen. The staff member at the desk — a Black guy — was clearly giving an Asian member a hard time for no reason. The member was calm and polite, just trying to explain that it was his own account, but the front desk guy kept refusing to let him in and acted very dismissive.

It really looked like the employee was intentionally making things difficult. The situation could’ve been solved easily, but instead it turned into an unnecessary scene. As someone who watched the whole thing, I felt uncomfortable and disappointed.

Customer service is not good. They speak to who they want to. The people working out is great. Highly recommend them sending in secret people who work for planet fitness to actually see how they operate.

Update: they did replace the pin! Apparently a customer had put the screw driver there
I did have some issues the other day though. The first elliptical I went to wouldn't turn on and the second creaked really loud. Then when I used a leg extension machine the pin was missing and a screw driver was being used in it's place.

Absolutely terrible facility. Showers/ dressing rooms are usually filthy. Hot water is down and has been for a few days and no one has an answer when it will be back up. Their response is we have cold water. Makes you wonder how they are able to clean the facility with just cold water but that might explain why it is filthy. This is unacceptable.

Clean, lots of space. Plethora of machines. Friendly staff. My only hangup is there aren't enough dumbells or free weights. But that's easy to get over. Also, it's always so cool in the building. The constant air conditioning and oversized fans make it hard to break a sweat without wearing sweats and/or a hoody.

Kyndal showed an amazing level of skill in customer service I haven’t seen in quite some time.

I had originally come in to cancel my membership today. While I was being helped, there were other customers coming up to the front desk for assistance during our conversation. Kyndal greeted each guest by name and was ready to assist them. I was shocked each time as Kyndal knew what each guest wanted before any request was made. They were so efficient there was no point during my visit that I felt like I wasn’t being attended to EVEN WHILE they were helping other people.

Kyndal is an asset as I have decided to continue my planet fitness membership and upgrade to the black card. The level of service I witnessed today was astounding. Way to go Kyndal I’m so proud of them and I hope they have the best life! What a blessing y’all have for your business.

generally, we love it. the machines are in good condition, everything is clean, black card spa is nice. HOWEVER, this really made me question how much we really like it. we received an email stating they would be open at 5am april 21st, no big deal. also states that on the app as well. we show up a little after 5am to a locked, dark gym. sign on the door says 6am. maybe don’t send out an email stating 5am and have it say that on the app as well? absolutely ridiculous. we drive 40 minutes to be here before our jobs as it’s the closest gym. really disappointed in this location, the false advertisement, etc. several other members also arrived a little after 5 and were extremely disappointed as well

Machines are always full and now they won’t let you tan but one time every 24 hours so if your schedule won’t allow you to come back exactly 24 hours later you can’t lay. I’m switching gyms this place sucks

This PF is open 24 hours at the moment and as I would expect, there was no waiting for any machine at 4am. I was literally the only person in here. Easy enough to secure my stuff in the locker room, run through the 30 minute circuit and then get a shower. Everything worked just fine and I had no issues at all.

I travel the country and review the showers at PFs. I speak for the women's and men's (my partner showers there too) and in the past we usually avoided the Athens showers like the plague, but they are much cleaner now. They have hot water! Not to mention the water pressure is very nice too.

I got a membership here sometime around April of this year, and I canceled a week later. I was aware of the fees incurred for the cancellation, but to my surprise I’ve been charged $25 a month since. It is now October. I was told that I never canceled to membership, when I did. I talked to a lady at the front to cancel it, and she assured me it was 6 months ago. After talking to the assistant manager today, I was informed it was the general manager I talked to about canceling my member the first time. Now they “can’t do anything about it” because I “just found out” they have been charging me for 6 MONTHS. That’s just bad business. I have not used their facility since the day I canceled, and they will not refund me. That’s disgusting. Beware of signing a contract with these people, and this planet fitness. I will never vouch for this place again. You’re better off going to Athens Health and Fitness or Crunch.

The “better gym” in Athens. It may not have as much equipment as Crunch or Athens Health and Fitness, but it Is not as crazy insanely busy as Crunch, and it is cleaner, better maintained than Athens Health and Fitness. Although no club in Athens really nails it, this one is the better choice.

I have had 3 serious safety issues inside the gym. Management has not addressed any of them. My car was vandalized in the parking lot. They have NO cameras. I was told it’s not PF’s place to keep members safe. I called corporate they have escalated every issue however the franchise owner nor management are responding or even acknowledging.

Not the best I have ever visited. Broken machines with temporarily out of order signs all the time for long periods of time and staff has no idea on repair time frame. Ankle straps for machines broken and staff has no idea when they will be replaced (over 2 months). Coverings for seats and arm/leg portions on machines ripped and once again no idea when it will be replaced. Getting tired of paying for a membership without being able to completely use the gym with all the perks.

Update: 8/20/24 lots of new cardio equipment so fewer out of order signs. Just need to update the cable weight equipment now.

I did have the place had a five star but unfortunately with the sudden change in equipment I have to change it down to a three because a lot of the new bikes are extremely unpleasant for people with disabilities. The old biking machines had very comfortable seats for my back, but the new ones are extremely unpleasant to sit on. The old ones didn't cause me any pain but the new ones do.

Came in 3 different times to cancel my Black Card membership. 1st time was my fault since my home gym was in Texas. 2nd time I was told that the $58 fee would be waived, because black card memberships normally shouldn’t have a fee when canceling. 3rd time I spoke with the manager and even though I have been a member since 2022, the $58 fee could not be waived. After checking my bank account, I was charged TWICE for the cancellation fee. I don’t appreciate the amount of hassle cancelling a gym membership was, even though I had been a committed member with planet fitness for a while. I will never sign up for a membership with this company ever again, this was a horrible experience.

I started workout at this gym in 2020 and absolutely fell in love. Unfortunately, I moved away and decided to switch to a closer gym however I never found a gym I loved as much as planet fitness, specifically the Athens location. After 3 years of battling bad local gyms I decided to bite the bullet and rejoin PF in Athens. It is absolutely worth the 30 minute drive everyday. In my first week, I lost my headphones but Misty at the desk remembered me and saved them for me! I have not been as lucky at other gyms. I look forward to chatting with Misty’s every morning. Everyone at the front is super friendly and helpful! It’s a very welcoming and clean environment. I cannot rave about this gym enough.

Pros:
•Staff is polite and responsive
•I always see people cleaning, whether I come at 1am or 11am
•Broken things tend to get fixed within a few visits
•The vibe is very chill and everyone does their own thing
•I’ve never had to wait more than a minute or so (during peak times, for one of the few machines with no duplicates)

Cons (sort of, more like minor annoyances):
•Would really love a gym with sauna/hot tub/pool, but it also wouldn’t be as affordable as PF
•Same deal with a squat rack, but I am fully aware that it isn’t PF’s business model and that’s okay!
•As some other reviewers mentioned, there are occasionally homeless folks inside (1 or 2, late below freezing nights). They have never bothered me, I have never bothered them, I don’t feel unsafe at all. It’s not uncommon for ACCPD to stop in and stretch their legs and check on staff for a few—in other words, I’ve never felt uncomfortable or unsafe.
•The only thing that isn’t clean in the building is the mirror wall 😂 but given how clean everything else is, I’m not losing any sleep over it.
•My only REAL complaint: the crowd meter. 2/10 is peopley. 3/10 is almost overwhelming for me. I’d hate to imagine 10/10. I’m not sure how they determine the levels, but I’d recommend coming when it’s at 3 or less.

Overall I’ve compared it extensively with other local gyms and really haven’t found anything better, especially for the price point.

I joined about a month ago and so far I am very pleased. I was paying twice as much, for a much smaller gym. The place is huge, there is plenty of equipment to go around, they must have 40 or more treadmills. The equipment is clean and in good condition, the staff is always on duty and helpful.

This gym is big, has all the free weights, kb, db, 360 room, 30 min. Room, bikes, threadmills, 2 rowers, lots of machines.
The exercise mats need replaced.
Showers, lockers.
Massage chairs, beds, red light room, tanning beds.
Could use a big clock in the pf 360 room.
The crew goes around cleaning the equipment often.

Had an issue regarding my membership at this location- went last night and was told to come back the today. Came back around noon, the employees said the manager was on lunch break, but I could work out in the meantime (the floor staff were very nice). When I was done I waited in the lounge area. The same two employees ended up approaching me again, saying the manager could not do anything and just gave me corporates number. The manager did not even come out to address my issue or talk to me face to face. Again, the floor staff were very friendly and considerate, but the management needs some revamping/reshaping in terms of customer service/speaking with customers in general.

I joined this gym after moving here over a year ago. My employment moves me around a lot so I have the opportunity to compare this gym with other Planet Fitness. There are 2 areas of concern: The stairmasters stay broke and there is always an excuse for them not being repaired or replaced. The supply chain is not an excuse anymore because other Planet Fitness gyms repair their machines expeditiously. The second concern is the cleanliness of the men’s restroom. The young guys in the front simply hang out in the front but do not take any pride in cleaning the restrooms. Many days it is deplorable.

Many machines are broken and stay broken for many weeks. Sometimes for several months. Why can't the broken machines be repaired or replaced in a reasonable time? What is the Planet Fitness policy on repairing or replacing broken machines? Please, please don't give me the excuse; supply chain shortages, or the parts are on order. That excuse doesn't work anymore.
