I’d like to bring serious attention to the conduct of General Manager Shamela at this location. Her behavior toward a paying member was rude, belligerent, and highly unprofessional. It’s clear she has not adjusted to the responsibilities of leadership and is abusing her position.

Here’s what happened:
• A guest visited Planet Fitness, enjoyed their experience, and immediately purchased a membership.
• Upon returning to use the member amenities, they were verbally harassed by Shamela, the very person entrusted to manage this facility.
• Instead of handling the situation professionally, she escalated matters, even calling the police and telling them her reason was that the member “had an attitude.”

This is not only unprofessional, but a clear sign of harassment, discrimination, and defamation of character. A customer should never be denied access to the services they pay for simply because a manager lets personal feelings override policy.

Shamela’s conduct shows a lack of emotional control, poor communication, and disregard for both customer experience and the Planet Fitness brand. No customer should feel targeted or disrespected because of who they are especially not African-American customers who deserve the same respect as anyone else.

Corporate should carefully review this incident. Either Shamela is removed from her position, or Planet Fitness risks losing the trust of its members and facing legal consequences for discrimination and harassment.

I’ll be following up with a direct call to corporate on Monday. Customers deserve professionalism, not hostility.

It's Tuesday night/ Wednesday Aug 26/27 morning I came around 12:50am and they're closed. No sign or warning just closed. Planet fitness already isn't a true 24/5 since they close early on Fridays on top of the weird weekend hours where most people would be going to church, watching sports, or spending time with their families. At best they're 24/4 with 3 other limited days, and now they're b closing on random week days???🙄🤬 What's the point of even advertising overnight hours at this point?

One of the great things about PF is that you know what to expect at each location. This location was clean & the staff were pleasant. Visiting from out of town & I was able to get my workout in as needed. Only 2 suggestions:
-move one of the free weight towers (3-20lbs) to the other side of the gym. Did a workout in the abs/stretch section (also using TRX) & had to keep walking back to get the free weights.
-remove the knots from the TRX straps. I’m assuming the knot was to make it shorter but it made it so that you couldn’t adjust the length at all & found it too short for chest press

I have been a Black Card member at Planet Fitness for over 10 years and have visited numerous locations across the country. Unfortunately, this is the first time I have experienced such poor treatment from staff.

Upon arrival, I was informed that I needed to update my backup payment of which I was unaware. I explained to the three employees at the front desk that I did not have my physical card with me at the time but would update it as soon as I returned home. Despite this, I was told I could not use the facilities until the backup payment information was updated.

Determined to stay on track with my fitness goals, I was eventually able to locate my card information and update the account immediately. After resolving the issue, I proceeded to the StairMaster to begin my workout. Within a minute, the same staff member from the front desk approached me from behind the machine to address me. This interaction was not only discourteous, but also unsafe, as engaging someone from behind while they are actively using exercise equipment poses a risk of injury. A safer and more professional approach would have been to wait until I had finished or to address me from the front.

I respectfully ask that management review this incident with the staff and provide guidance on appropriate and safe ways to interact with members when concerns arise. As a long-standing and loyal member, I was deeply disappointed by this experience and hope steps will be taken to ensure that future interactions uphold the professionalism and welcoming environment Planet Fitness is known for.

The gym equipment is clean and mostly well maintained. There's a decent variety of machines to differentiate your workout, but I would prefer if they continue adding new machines to the gym. Especially since during peak hours, equipment like the smith machines are almost always taken up in my experience.

For the most part I like Planet Fitness. Two priority reasons is that they are 24 hours 5 days a week, they have reasonable fees and they have always had self cleaning spray bottles & paper towels available throughout the facility. Prior to pandemic I never thought about using them, but I have since then. I held memberships with other major gyms, past and present, with pools, saunas, courts, juice bars, etc., I use them rarely. One other plus for Planet Fitness is they're convenient to where I live, work and many places I travel around the country. I am detailed, lightly persnickety and will point out something severely wrong and needing attention with intensity. This is not a promo, just sharing the positive sides.

Initially I had no idea what I was doing until I met Robert the trainer! Robert Is An INCREDIBLE ASSET To The Company... why you may ask...1st he considered my age and contoured a workout plan that I could handle and now I've built up endurance to see my body changes..2nd Robert Is Respectful and Extremely Knowledgeable about workouts 3rd He Is Always Willing To Assist ...KUDOS!!!! Dear Planet Fitness Management,

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding a recent interaction I had with a front desk employee. As a member for over two years, I have always respected Planet Fitness's rules and policies, including those regarding photography and videography.

However, during my last visit, I was approached in a manner I found unprofessional and unacceptable. A female employee with red hair addressed me aggressively, shouting that I couldn't take pictures or videos. Her tone and demeanor were inappropriate, implying that I was somehow abusing my membership. This was particularly upsetting given my long-standing membership and consistent adherence to the facility's regulations. Her subsequent actions of seemingly documenting this interaction on the computer further exacerbated the situation.

While I understand the importance of enforcing facility rules, I believe this employee's conduct fell far short of the expected standard of customer service. Her behavior could negatively impact the experience of other members and potentially deter new memberships. I respectfully request that management address this issue to ensure a more welcoming and professional environment for all.

There is one staff member who is consistently rude and unprofessional. The other day, it was snowing, and the gym was set to close at 7 o’clock. We were in the middle of our workout when she approached us and asked us to leave. I politely responded that I had just one more set to finish and would leave right after. However, she started yelling at me, demanding that I leave immediately, which I found very unpleasant.

This wasn’t my first negative encounter with her—I’ve had issues with her regarding my membership as well. She doesn’t seem to treat all customers equally.

Other than this, the gym itself is great. It’s always clean, the rest of the staff is polite and very helpful, and overall, it’s a nice place to work out.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint regarding the discriminatory behavior of your female manager at the Planet Fitness location on Memorial Drive. On December 19th, approximately 12:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, I was denied entry into the gym due to the manager’s refusal to accept my identification.

Despite my frequent visits to the gym, including late-night workouts with the exceptional trainer known as Superman, I was treated differently on this occasion. The manager’s hasty decision to cancel my membership and call the police without due process was unacceptable.

As a highly educated individual with multiple jobs and a commitment to my community as a minister, I am deeply troubled by this incident. Planet Fitness should not tolerate such discriminatory behavior from its manager.
Although I am not typically prone to anger, the actions of the female who cancel my membership and call the police was excessive and unacceptable. She misused her position, and immediate action is required. The incident has left me deeply traumatized. If this matter is not resolved or addressed, I will be compelled to pursue legal action against your organization, as I have witnessed individuals affiliated with your organization attitude calling the police on citizens in an unlawful manner.

I have been a planet fitness member at this location for seven years. I liked the gym since it was a reasonable distance from my home and school. I haven't had issues with this gym until recently when they canceled my membership out of no where! I called to see what the issue was and they claim I did not pay for the months of June and July so they sent my account to collections, which means I would have to create a new account with the current membership fee. I thought this was weird because I am still using the same bank, so I don't understand how the transaction never went through. Even when my debit card would change, they were still taking their $10 a month. Furthermore, I was never notified that my payments were not going through so that I could rectify the situation. When I called the gym, the manager told me there was no way for them to bring my account up to date. I felt like this whole thing was intentional to kick me out of my locked in price of $10 a month. Who even sends someone to collections for $20, like seriously? I will no longer be a member of gym who is clearly scamming people to get them to pay higher monthly membership fees. At least be honest about it instead of making up lies! The manager tried to say I didn't pay my annual fee which I DID! Do better!

I have metastatic breast cancer. I am dying.

I tried to cancel during pandemic. They didn’t do it. I cancelled again over a year ago from the hospital mailed in, unable to walk or drive. I went in and cancelled again in person once I could walk again (albeit still disabled). I have asked to be cancelled so many times and I just noticed- every month they’ve still deducted fees. It’s just not letting me cancel. Do not trust!

I shouldn’t have to work so hard to deal with this. One cancellation should have done it.

I shouldn’t have to close my bank account to stop this but I’m at a loss of what else to do since they never actually cancel.

This is not going to work. My husband and I bought a membership. We thought that based off of our address the home gym would be the one closet to our home. When we saw that it was a random gym almost an hour away . We immediately called to switch the home gym to one nearest to us. We called called and called this morning and afternoon. They literally do not answer the phone at all. I find that in Georgia this is a common problem here. Even if the location isn’t busy taking calls or assisting other customers they’ll literally hear the phone ringing and ignore it while they play on their phones or talk to co workers . Needles to say. We bought the membership yesterday and I’m about to go up there as soon as I get my children situated to cancel.
