I really really really wish I looked at the reviews before trying out this gym.

While everything seemed so nice during the walk through and I know the girls up front have no control over what management says (need to clarify this because they all are very nice)
I was denied membership because I wasnt able to produce a lease or piece of mail stating I lived within 50 miles. No worries. I get it. But charging my the 15 dollar key FOB that I have NO control over??? I was going to try to come back to this gym after I produced the most current lease but after finding this out and the gym having no sympathy. Nooo. I guess ill just go to another fitness, while its overly crowded. They dont try to squeeze every penny out of you. Should have looked at the reviews.

I’ve never written a review before, but this experience deserves one. After realizing I’d been charged for months after attempting to cancel my membership, I called The Rock Fitness Center to get it resolved. The employee refused to help, insisting I “had to come in person,” even though my contract says nothing of the sort and Georgia law DOES NOT require it for memberships.

When I calmly stood my ground and asked for it to be handled over the phone, I was hung up on—and then threatened with the cops simply for asking them to stop charging me for a service I no longer use. That’s beyond unprofessional—it’s intimidation.

No customer should ever be treated this way and it seems by all the latest reviews this is their standard practice lately. I’d highly recommend avoiding this place unless you want to deal with unethical billing practices and disrespectful treatment.

Management was horrible . At the time of my membership I was told if I brought my daughter they would charge me 10 a visit . I said that would be fine and when she came they deducted it from my act . Very disappointed in how poorly ran this place is becoming. Used to be an amazing place with super friendly front desk and now it’s ran by money hungry people. They will charge your card under allegations of not scanning your key fob and when asked about it they never respond. Treadmills are constantly broken and the men’s bathroom has been out of order for over a month. Take your money elsewhere!

If you want to go to an unmotivated gym, makes you sign a 1 yr contract, takes advantage of students, will not cancel membership when requested by members, charge cards unexpectedly when acct is frozen, management takes no responsibilities, equipment is improperly set up. The list goes on and on! I would not recommend The Rock gym at all!

If I could give this place zero stars I would. I’ve had so many problems with trying to cancel my membership and even freezing it. They don’t even tell you when they take money out they just take it out and then answer questions later. The only plan they let you buy is a yearly plan and don’t even try to cancel it before the year is up because all they’ll do is just keep taking money out of your account. The management is so poor that you’d think this place would be bankrupt, the only employees they hire are kids who don’t know anything they just send you to management and management isn’t even there to help 99% of the time. I used to really like going to this gym but it’s become such a dump that I don’t even know how they keep customers. If you’re thinking about joining, DONT! Thank you Rick Fitness for being the pain in my side for over a year!

My friend and I was really wanting to start doing more health things to get back in shape. We walked in and nobody offered to show us how to operate the machines, learn the activities that they offered. After 20 minutes of us trying to figuring out how to. We finally just left. We are older but was really hoping for a new outlook on our health. I was very discouraged.

​My experience with The Rock Fitness was unfortunately cut short due to a frustrating key fob issue. I paid $15 for a new one, and it failed within a week. To my surprise, the manager expected me to pay for yet another replacement. This felt incredibly petty and led me to cancel my membership, despite the friendly staff. Another ongoing issue is the broken fan under the cardio deck, which hasn't worked in over a year. Hopefully, these issues can be addressed for future members.

If you’re looking to get a gym membership in Cartersville AVOID this gym at all costs. It is the most poorly managed, poorly run, and poorly kept up gym I have ever attended. It is sad to see what this gym has become, especially because under the previous management The Rock was THE best place to workout in the city.

To elaborate on the above paragraph, they are not accommodating of any other membership plan that isn’t a full year. Thats assuming the person at the desk has a clue what they are doing, which they usually do not. I have heard SEVERAL stories of people who have come to ownership with questions and concerns and have been banned from the gym.

Enough on management, now onto the gym itself. When it first opened it was great with all new equipment and enough racks and machines for the population of the gym. Now, it has grown so much you would think they’d add machines and racks! No, they have LOST equipment! There used to be a pool at the gym as well! They have a suggestion box and when I put suggestions in for things to improve the gym none ever happened. Sad. In the end at least Real Life is right down the street!

If you have a problem, talk to Samanda Cox (yes that is her real name), because she won’t help you out and just cancel your membership. It’ll be for your own good. After 3 years it was time to cancel my membership. The guy texted me to renew it, I said cancel it. Dylan started telling me how I had to come in and speak with the manager etc and then he dropped this on me. He took my matter effect text and then told me he didn't like my tone. Like he's my dad but one thing old Dylan didn't have was a class on customer service. They should probably retrain this guy. But that's who's running your membership. People that are treating you like you're their servants or they're your dad.

I have deleted a previous review, I was driving 50+ miles back and forth from Acworth to Cartersville just to workout and keep my membership in good standing, and was a little disappointed. Well, There maybe some issues with certain gyms in the area, but I find none in Rock Fitness. AUSTIN, as well as all the other staff have been exceptionally kind to me even though I gave them a low rating. You don’t find professionalism like this everywhere. I want to thank all of you for your kindness and professional demeanor. I have corrected my review to support this awesome gym and staff.

This might be the most unprofessional bs gym I’ve ever experienced. I’m mostly referring to their billing procedure. I was called from a third party collection agency and they would not even tell me who they were. Mind you, I attempted to freeze my account because I was out of town for months, and during the convo I was ensured that it would be frozen. It was not. When I went in to clear everything up, an arrogant kid gave me the run around, and when I asked to speak to a supervisor I was told she was busy watching her children in the back. I am not unreasonable, I simply wanted to speak with someone who could fix it. Turns out she is the owner. When she finally came out she was incredibly aggressive and rude. I blocked my payment through my bank so they were not able to continue to withdraw any funds, therefore I anticipated I would just be able to swipe my card to pay the additional fees ( just trying to stop the bleeding). I went to the ATM to get cash, and while at the bank I received a phone call from The Cartersville Sheriff’s Departmet, letting me know that when I returned I would have to sign a document for me to be CRIMINALLY TRESPASSED. I at this point had no choice but to laugh. I was floored that a business owner could be so wicked. She she be embarrassed to call herself a business owner, and to anyone getting involved with this establishment just know you are swimming at your own risk. These people are criminal.

Used to love The Rock, but have been disappointed one too many times. Earlier this year they significantly increased the childcare cost. This hindered my husband & I to be able to work out the way we were used to with our 4 year old daughter. Today, I was turned away with my 12 year old daughter because I did not have her birth certificate and I was told even if I did she could only do cardio or the group classes with me. I see kids on the weight floor all the time. We have been members for a year and a half and there’s been major changes since we joined. My daughter and I left and took our business to Real Life across the street, which was way more affordable and allowed me to sign my 12 year old up with me.

I’m pretty disappointed in The Rock Cartersville. My key fob didn’t work, so I called to find out why. They canceled my membership with no warning, no explanation. I’ve been a member so long, that they don’t have record of me anymore. So rather than call and invite me to fill out a new contract, they turned off my key card. Don’t worry. They still charged my account on July 1st, even though I was canceled on July 2nd. This company must be incredibly worried about membership fees, since they kept mine and locked me out. They have my phone number and email address, I hope they figure out how to refund my fee and explain why they won’t allow me to work out there after 8+ years as a member. Your customer service needs work, The Rock.

It’s unfortunate that I’m not leaving a 5 star review after over 2 years of enjoying this gym. I called to cancel my membership I. January as I am working in Woodstock now and live in Acworth so I had to choose a gym closer to work if I was going to have time to workout. I spoke to Mahaley on the phone around 1-10-24 and she said that I was canceled and would not see any further charges and that I would need to come by and fill out a paper confirming my cancellation when I could. Like I mentioned, I live 30 minutes from the gym and work in Woodstock now so I was unable to get up there to sign the paperwork right away on February 1 I was charged $35 for the month of February. So I called and this time spoke to Jillian And explained the situation to her. After a brief hold on the phone. She returned and told me that if I did not want to get charged again in March, then I need to come in that day and fill out that paper I was unable to get back to the gym that day , but on Monday came in person and spoke to Mahalie again. When I confronted her about the conversation we had on the phone she said that she had never said that I wouldn’t be charged again, that was mistaken. I asked if it would be possible to waive the March payment since I was only a couple days outside of their 30 day cancellation notice policy , and she said no. She was very disagreeable and after 2+ years of being a patron at the Rock Fitness it’s not how I would’ve expected to be treated as I was leaving. I guess the smiles and good mornings are only for people giving them money, it’s sad honestly because I enjoyed the staff up until this point and they all seem very friendly. Unfortunately, that seems to have been fake. I waited until today before leaving this review in hopes that a manager might have found a solution to this and waived the March payment…well they charged me today so it’s clear they could care less about a 2 year patron experience with their brand and that $35
in the bank was a higher priority for them.

This gym was recommended to me by a friend. They are just a small gym nothing like a massive planet fitness and that allows them to offer some one-on-one services that you wouldn't get at the big chain gyms. My wife and I joined about 3 or 4 months ago and we are loving it. It has a sauna and they have every piece of gym equipment that you will need. They also offer some personal trainer and classes that you can go to. One of the best things I like about it that I have yet to take advantage of is the racquetball court they have.

I’ve been going here for a few years now and have been a member of other gyms in the Cartersville area. I can honestly say that this gym is the “go to” if you’re looking to settle in somewhere. It’s always clean, never overly crowded, and they keep a nice variety of drinks behind the counter for pre/post workout. Both Mahalie and Yucaren keep the place running and offer greetings every time

The faculty is always spotless. Everyone cleans up the machines after. There are plenty of quick wipes or bottles of cleaning solution.

All the weights are reracked!! The dumbells are put back in weight order. All plate loaded machines, benches and squat racks are always unloaded.

The gym never gets too crowded. I go after work, between 5:30 and 6pm. Tuesday after work is the busiest day but even then I haven't had to wait more than a couple minutes for a machine here or there.

This used to be my favorite facility. I was a member here from 09/2020 - 11/2021. I went 6 days a week for about 2.5-3 hours a day. Their corporate management really dropped the ball this last month. I had an incident with a childcare worker who was inappropriate with my 8 year old daughter. When I confronted the manager of the facility he ultimately made the choice to let the worker go. I contacted corporate about this via email and they never responded. It has been over a week. No apology- no communication. I cancelled my families memberships today 11/17/2021. It breaks my heart to walk away from this place.

From the outside, the building looks inviting. Inside, everything is placed appropriately. Workout area is awesome! There is a yoga room complete with a padded floor! Treadmills galore! A medicine ball area all its own. Beautiful locker/shower for each complete with sauna/hot room! Kickboxing room for those in martial arts. The swimming pool is under renovation, opens in middle January. Play area for kids so Mom/Dad or both can work out! Prices are unbelievable for a couple ($65 a month) Some activities are extra for a small fee! Will be joining soon! UPDATE!! As of November 2020 will no longer be a "member" of Rock Fitness due to management issue with basic mathematics on my account. My advice is to watch your bank account carefully as their "program" has sticky fingers when allowed monthly access. UPDATE!! New management!! He read my review and assured me this issue would not happen again. Going back to the ROCK!! Unfortunately the pool is closing!!

Not willing to assist during Covid. It's not safe to go to the Gym right now. They've been charging us $70 a month, every month since covid started. We never complained even though we haven't been to the gym since February, since we enjoyed our membership there and hoped that we could continue. We've now been affected financially so I tried to call and cancel recently and was told that since the gyms are back open to the public they'd still charge us $150 PER PERSON to cancel our subscription, even though we've been affected by covid and we haven't used their facilities since At least February. I recently cancelled my membership because the gym closed the sauna and the 24 hour access was still not available at the time of cancellation. They had the nerve to try and charge a $100 cancellation fee despite not providing the services i signed up for! Very unethical!

Great facility and equipment, but the "you have to have on something to cover you" (can not just have on a sports bra or crop top) rule is new to me. I have traveled to many gyms across the country and I have never heard that rule. The gym is where you should feel confident in yourself and not be judged. When asked they this was a rule, I was told, the owner is wanted to keep a faith based feel or something like that and he or she wants a conservative, family feel. As someone who formerly worked for the Adidas brand, I just do not understand forcing women to cover their sports bra. What do women wear in the pool, are they forced to wear a wrap and one piece as well?

It's a nice gym with plenty of equipment but they're completely inflexible about the music they play. It's pretty loud and just not what I like to hear. When asked if there's anytime at all when the music isn't playing, the answer is just no.
Not everyone wants to hear what they're playing, as evidenced by half the clientele wearing headphones.

The facility is being upgraded. It is now "The Rock" and they have an opening special that was great. Water aerobics is good, but the differing instructors vary widely in technique so it is hard to get a rhythm.
