I strongly caution parents considering Sharkie School, operated by Savannah Sharks, for their childcare program.

We attended the Richmond Hill location. The facility demonstrates a lack of basic safety measures, poor communication, and questionable billing practices. My son was only enrolled for a short period before pulling him out

The safety concerns are the most alarming. Sharkie School students are regularly exposed to unvetted strangers during public playdates. These playdates are open to anyone, with no background checks or formal ID requirements for attendees, creating a significant safety risk for the children enrolled in their program. The students are allowed to play with and interact with the strangers.

Additionally, safety within the facility is severely lacking: trampolines are placed near hard surfaces like cement and glass doors, balloons (a known choking hazard) are left out for babies and toddlers, and children are allowed to play on unstable equipment (like stacked mats, for example). Babies and toddlers regularly fall below the trampolines onto the cement behind the curtain (happened to my son and other parents’ children).

The facility also used an unauthorized photo of my 2.5 year old child on social media, which included both his face and his name (clearly visible on the sheet of paper in front of him). He is the only one in the photo. This photo was posted by one of the workers in a local Facebook group with nearly 40,000 members, exposing both his identity and privacy. I politely requested over three times for the photo to be taken down, but the facility refused to remove it and instead blocked me, leaving the photo visible to thousands.

After discovering that Sharkie School is not licensed, I immediately pulled my child out of the program. However, they then tried to enforce a two-month paid cancellation policy that was never signed off on. This was deeply frustrating and felt like an attempt to exploit parents rather than communicate openly and fairly.

Many parents, including myself, have also experienced unauthorized charges (we’re talking many hundreds of dollars) and a lack of resolution when trying to address billing concerns.

My family is still out hundreds of dollars taken for services never provided. Like with others, they stop answering emails and calls.

Looking back, I feel guilty for putting my child in this environment to begin with. I wish I had done more research beforehand, and I urge other parents to avoid making the same mistake.

**7/13/2022: Thank you for your response over 2 yrs later, hence the poor communication. I wouldn't have requested a refund if I was initially told that it was non-refundable, so the snide comment was unnecessary. A simple email response would have sufficed at that time. Have a nice day**

After putting down a deposit to have my son's 2nd birthday party at this venue, we cancelled due to Covid 19. I was told that if I needed to cancel, that it was fine and just to inform them. I did that 2 weeks ahead and received no response. Contacted again a week later and was told by email that they were closed until April 13th due to Covid 19. Emailed a few more times with no response and called back and finally reached a guy by phone. He was talking with the lady I initially gave deposit to and was told that she would contact me. She never has. Communication is terrible. It should not take until the end of April to receive a deposit.

We love sharks! My daughter has grown tremendously, not only in cheer, but in herself from the constant lobe and support displayed at this gym. My toddler has attended sharkie school and play dates and I have never had to worry! Highly recommend!

We are heading into our 5th season with Savannah Sharks and are still as happy as the day we chose this gym. We have spent years at both the Savannah and Richmond Hill locations and have been equally pleased. Megan has set a foundation for the athletes to be good, kind people as well as the best athletes they can be. Megan and her staff are kind and easy to talk to. The coaches are supportive and push the athletes to continuously get better and be their best. We LOVE Sharks!

My daugther Anna has been a cheerleader at Savannah Sharks since she was 5 Years old, she is now 15 years old. I cannot express enough what a rewarding experience it has been and continues to be. Savannah Sharks All Star Cheerleading teaches my daughter to be a strong, responsible, hard working young woman. Anna has learned values of respect, discipline, teamwork. Their leader, Megan Yarborough, is a young, outstanding woman who loves and cares for her athletes, who sets the standards and grounds for a safe, caring, respectful environment. Anna loves what she does, she has found many friends who share the love for cheerleading, they met a decade ago and they continue to grow up together supporting each other. The many medals and trophies Anna and her teammates have received are a very sweet experience, but most importantly, these girls have built precious friendships and experiences, and have learned what it means to work hard, to fall and to rise again, and to keep pushing for the benefit of the team.

Since the day Lilli walked Into the Sharks when she was 4 years old it was just like Family. She started as a Tiny and has worked her way up to a level 5 athlete . Coach Taylor - the best of the best!
Coach Megan - I’ve watch her grow her gym and program and couldn’t be more proud of the owner and mom she has become .
Coach Tim - he’s strict but loves all his Athletes very much and pushes them to strive on and off the Mat.

My daughter was completely broken when she came to Sharks half way through the season after a very hard military move. She didn't want to cheer anymore, and didn't want to make any friends out of fear of having to leave yet again. In just a few short weeks at Sharks, she was back to her happy-go-lucky, always smiling, goofy self. This was because of the staff and athletes at Sharks going out of their way to make her feel like she was part of the family. They treated her not like the new girl, but like the girl who had been there all along. She is now back to pushing herself

We moved here last year and my daughter cheered for the Richmond Hill Gym last season, she is now in the Savannah Gym. She really loves it and has grown since joining. After taking Coach Megan's tumbling class at school, my daughter decided she wanted to try out for Sharks competitive cheer. We didn't know what to expect our first year, but we were all welcomed and quickly became part of this exciting family.

I honestly do not know where to start. First of all, Savannah Sharks has been home to me and my family since its creation. My oldest daughter went along side Megan as she started her dream of opening a safe, loving and supportive place to grow in a sport that is competitive and fun.
When my younger two daughters joined the Savannah Sharks, 13 years ago, I was super excited for a new journey, but a little hesitant. They both had great potential, but one daughter was extremely shy and timid and the other at the time was not very fit. within the first year they blossomed!! They loved it! The coaches encourage them loved them and supported them. Through ups and downs of learning new skills they were pushed to be the very best possible. The coaches also supported all their other activities outside of Sharks, like attending football games, coming to pep rallies, school competitions and many other things.
As I enter my last year as a Savannah Sharks Cheer Mom I am mixed with emotions, I cant not believe this is it... the end for me. I am forever grateful for all the life skills they learned while being coached by the very best! It as been worth every dime I have spent, I would not trade it for anything. ONCE A SHARK ALWAYS A SHARK!!!

5 years ago my daughter needed a new gym to call home. We took a leap of faith and tried out at Savannah Sharks. We were immediately taken in like family from day 1. My child shined like she never has before on that stage. She came into herself at this amazing gym. The shy little girl she came their as was no more. Coach Tim and Megan coached her in the exact way she needed to be coached. I have forever FRAMILY at this gym. My daughter has grown and evolved so much as an athlete, in just the past two years that she’s been at the Sharks’ gym. The staff members have been great to us, and they work very very hard. They push the kids to be the best they can be, and make it abundantly clear that they “will get out of their lessons, what they put into them”. I love that my daughter already knows what it feels like to work so hard for something, and ultimately reap the results that she earned for herself with sweat equity. I have two children that cheer at the Richmond Hill Savannah Sharks gym. My son started out with tumbling and is now cheering on an elite level team. My daughter loves cheering, her teammates, and her coaches. She is making progress with her tumbling and stunting. My daughter Victoria has never been so excited to be part of something. I can’t tell you how proud I am of the progress not only my daughter makes but allll the little girls who train there. We have been a member of the Savannah Sharks family for over 7 years! Over the years, in addition to the competition cheer classes, my two daughters have attended tumbling, stunt, and stretch classes as well as fun and instructional summer camps and weekend intensives. Due to the training and love they have received from the coaching staff, both girls have excelled at a quick pace and have been competing on national teams for several years and winning rings and jackets! And while winning is great, so are the life lessons being taught and fostered here. The support they have received not only from the coaches, but also from the parents and their team and gym- mates has helped to mold my daughters into the girls they are today. The lessons and skills they have acquired from cheer and this gym have also allowed them to excel in other sports and become confident leaders on the cheer mat, in basketball, and on the soccer field! My daughter started with rec cheer but wanted a little more. We started off with Sharks in Richmond Hill. She found her calling and has loved it. She recent started going to the location in Savannah which is also top notch. Coaches are great at pushing and progressing while making it fun and exciting to try new things. She loves all the clinics they add to help her progress with flying or tumbling. Staff are responsive and quickly get back answering questions. We love Sharks!

The professionalism is not up to par. The manager in Richmond Hill is not truthful and lies. She deliberately does not sale items to parents and only to the ones she likes. We have been customers to this gym before and despite the business we give we have been treated horribly. This year we paid in full for a birthday party a month in advance so we can have the date we wanted. I had reached out to cancel way ahead of time due to places closing their doors for Covit 19. Not only that there was no communication at first but I was told after the Governors orders to not have gatherings in enclosed spaces I was told my the Sharks gym and Stephanie that they are still open and we can have our party?? Yes. That’s right. Few days later, they had to close. In the meantime I was still asking for cancellation and our refund but I got that one email only. After closing they told me that since office is closed it is nothing they can do and we will see after reopening. Six weeks later I reached out again only to be told that they don’t owe me anything and that out of the goodness is their hears they can send a check. Two weeks later no check no anything . Reached out again and they said to stop by only to find out that the gym is closed and no one is there. Twice. Finally few days later they resounded and we got the refund. It has been a nightmare to get our money back. On tip of it they told us not to go there again for any party. Haha - way to go Sharks and good luck with your business!

After purchasing the Panther's in Ridgeland/Okatie, the Shark's subsequently closed the location. Overall, complete lack of communication. Attempts to contact ownership were either unsuccessful or met with complete resistance. Announced closure was not communicated until after the new month was paid and closure was effective immediately. Essentially taking payment for services not delivered. Also, would not reimburse that payment.
