This review isn’t from one that attended the class, but I called to get information and the extreme lengths they took to avoid transparency in costs. I wanted to know the cost for the sessions. I was told that they would not give me prices unless my children attended the free class first. I informed them that my children were excited about joining a karate class and how disappointed they’d be if they tried it out and loved it only then for me to get the price and possibly not afford it and have to tell them I can’t bring them back. Unfortunately, not everyone has endless amounts of money and no matter how much someone likes the class, if they can’t afford it then they can’t do it.
I tried to get a price range or estimate even or prices of the different classes…literally anything to just have an idea. I was informed over and over that they will never give out prices for the program unless the kids attended the free session first. Their lack of transparency screams shady. For this reason I will be looking elsewhere.

I am not one to write a negative a review, but this place really rubbed me wrong. They are only interested in taking your money. Also, they are not military friendly. If you work an odd shift or get stationed elsewhere, say goodbye to your money. I ended up being put on a night work shift that took place during the class time and they wouldn’t let me end my contact. They continued to charge me the thousands of dollars for classes that I couldn’t attend even after explaining my situation to multiple people. Take one look at the owners social media page and you will see how this is all a cash grab and she is only interested in making as much $$ as possible.

This place was good at first. But then I started noticing things. All the talking and text messages and emails and all the stuff we had to buy and pay for all the time. Not to mention ALL the people and kids is insane!! I wouldn’t be surprised if it was against fire code honestly. Then when both my kids were in the “black belt training” I really got irritated, to the point I even timed it. Though the 45 min class they literally talked (while not training) for 20 min of it. So ALL that money you pay for, 20 minutes of the 45 min class is for advertising. Oh and I almost forgot when I had to go to a “mandatory” class to learn about the gear they said we needed to pick up the weapons they will be using which are expensive as hell by the way, they made sure to give you 20% off if you have a 5 STAR review on google and had to prove it. So that explains why they have such a great rating on google.

This place is a RIPOFF!! They consistently say "company policy" so know and understand that if you sign a contract and your love one doesn't attend FOR ANY REASON, YOU'LL BE GIVING THEM FREE MONEY!! My family member is in ICU and my child hasn't attend since the end of December & because of "company policy" I have to pay for the time my child wasn't there AND because it wasn't canceled before 60 days, the contract is "Automatically Renewed". The Last Thing I was thinking about was this class while my family member is STILL in ICU & I'm being told that I have to pay all of February and March!! And was told that my child "could still come"!! They're preying on you to forget "the contract" so anyone who signs up, remember "the contract" and the timeframe that you can cancel "before the AUTOMATIC RENEWAL" time frame. Fair Warning: Don't Sign up! Don't Join!!

My son goes here and absolutely loves it. Took the mandatory introduction class with Mr Daniel whom was phenomenal with the kids. Told us that they guarantee him getting his yellow belt which put me off at first but then said that if he doesn't get it then they continue to train him for free until he gets it. Just tested white belt and glad to see that they actually take testing seriously even for kids and not just take your money and pass everyone. I am very disappointed in this company. My sons did have a great time in their foundations program, however when the program concluded and I tried to cancel because we were moving (military) I was told sorry I needed to do an exit interview and give 60 days notice before I could cancel $96/week which is absolutely ridiculous. I am beyond frustrated with how they treat their families, like a paycheck. I tried to cancel multiple times, phone and email and was still charged even though my sons have not attended in two weeks. I will be reporting the charge as fraud because I have in writing where I canceled the subscription, and I hope the company understands the strain they put on their families, especially military families when it is absolutely unnecessary.

If you homeschool love ur child are focused on them etc this place is not for you. the fee for the first portion 800 i prepaid--- then they made this thing up your child has been selected to be a dragon you want to be a dragon you must be a dragon, you want to know what the dragon cost is 3000.00 YUP 3000.00!!! i almost fainted---- like whattttt. i just paid 800 now she can be a ninja turtle dragon and i need to pay 3000 first. then everyday i mean EVERYDAY you will receive some stupid coupon they created for their store w shirts etc for 20% oooo 20% come grab 20% like these things are repeated 50 times in on 30 min lesson. I don't know i dont like the vibe its money grabbing the kids are rushed the class is HUGEEE w one teacher tiny teachers-- maybe the dragon kids idk. but anyway i was done after a month a half, i didnt even ask for a refund because who wants to hear the marketing and things they will say on repeat its like they went to a marketing class for selling tuff. they wear you down till you say fine--

Awsome place! Started to take my daughter and love everthing about this school, actually love it some much that i joined and started doing kickboxing. The decision to enroll my child here has been the greatest decision of my life. After trying and discussing other sports, she decided she wanted to try karate.

We did the FREE intro class and enrolled from there. She was timid at first, and having a plethora of behavior problems. I reached out to SKC to see what they could do as far as helping supplement me with the behavior and insert the goal setting program. The mentorship Val has received has gone above and beyond anything I could have ever asked for. She was scared and mad at me for a bit, but I didn't care. As a single mom I couldn't handle it anymore. She would say I hate karate. I want to quit. I would say you don't hate karate, you hate that your being held accountable.

Fast forward to almost 6 whole weeks, I have a totally different child. She is more respectful, does more chores without even being asked, she is a million times more confident. She will gladly go out and make any new friends. She asks questions in class without being afraid. I would pay double for the tra

nsformation this place has done. All of the instructors genuinely care about their students and are very passionate about what they do. They are full of patience. Valerie loves "Mr. Daniel, Mr. Peter, Mr. Waters, and Mrs. Jennifer, and Mr. Seigler" and says "I know they care about me too."

We were talking about jobs in the car on the way home from gymnastics and she mentioned my job helping people. I said your karate instructors change lives everyday. She then stops for a minute, looks up at me and responds "I know. They've changed my life."

I can not recommend this place enough.

AVOID this place!! SCAM, all they want is $1,000 from you. My husband is in the Army. They were at a festival at Fort Eisenhower and they sign you up for a “free” intro class. Our daughter was interested based on the interaction with them at the festival on base so we went to the free class. It was in a very small room with 10 kids at the most and have your child thinking it will be so fun and engaging. They pressure you into purchasing on the spot. They are like a timeshare or a dealership that wants all your money. They say this is a discount only for today, yeah right. They claim your child is not just a number to them and they’ll get one on one training. Well, we fell for it. Paid $1,000! Go to the classes, they’re in a big gym with multiple classes going on. The class has around 20-30 kids and 1 instructor. He is not good at teaching children, he shows the move and says to copy and says we’re gonna do a “combo” without explaining anything. My daughter is 6 and you expect her to know these moves or names of the moves. The entire class is RUSHED. They do a move and move on to the next, they do not take the time to make sure every kid is understanding or getting the moves. After 2 classes, I wanted a refund because my daughter did not want to do it anymore. She was miserable. They scheduled a call & it was pointless. I explained how we’re a 1 income military family and that was a lot of money. They use phrases like “I’m sorry YOU feel that way” NO REFUNDS WHATSOEVER. They do not care about you or your kid. They tried to make me try to get her to come back and continue, I will not be back and I will make sure everyone knows about this place. It’s a joke, I should have read the google reviews before going otherwise I never would have went. If I could give 0 stars, I would.

Our son has recently started classes at SKC. We have been delighted with the signing up process and have been warmly welcomed into this community. Our son has thrived each session in learning new skills and positively accepted instruction. We have noticed more respect and focus within our home. He was beaming with confidence at his last class even if he messed up. He was eager to try again with a smile on his face. We are eager to see what he will accomplish in the weeks ahead. Grateful for SKC encouraging good behavior at home and school as well.

Everyone here is super helpful! My son just started classes and Mr.Daniel is very attentive to my son. Mr.Peter instructed my sons intro class and he was very good with the kids as all of the team members are. Mr.Waters is a very patient and nice teacher as well. I chose to enroll my child because my brother trained here and it was not a mistake. Even in the short time my son has been attending I can tell he loves class. I can’t wait to see what this does for his confidence, teamwork and discipline. If you’re looking for a fun new adventure for your kids I highly recommend you trying them out.

SKC has been nothing but amazing to my kids and family! From the moment you make that first contact you have nothing but sweet conversations! My 7yr started back in September and it has been so fun to watch him train and work hard. I wasn’t going to leave a review, but the longer I think about how they did us, the angrier I get.

I called for an intro class and pricing. I was told, come in and we will discuss everything at the intro class. So that’s what we did. It felt just like a timeshare. Hook, line, and sinker. Brought my kid in, made them fall in love, gave them a free shirt, had them break a board in half, then gave them a coloring book while we discussed price with a white board. Then comes the almost $1k price tag for 16 weeks followed with a, “well what can you afford?”

It’s one thing for a timeshare to use this method on adults, it’s a whole ‘nother thing to manipulate children into the situation.

I’m not one to typically leave reviews, but I noticed all the google reviews seemed pretty positive, but when I looked at other review services, lots of people mentioned how they are all about money and fundraisers and often spend lots of class time talking about money. Glad we dodged the bullet. I didn’t expect it to be that expensive, but we could have avoided wasting all the time and emotions of my kid had it been an upfront price.

I absolutely love SKC! The instructors are there to promote self-discipline, help kids build on their confidence, strength and flexibility. My 5 year old son has been doing karate here for about 10 months now and it honestly has been life changing for him. He was diagnosed with ADHD a year ago. Focus and Discipline were some of the major things I was searching for help with when I signed him up for karate. He has grown so much in both of those areas along with being a very well mannered kid. Although my son would tell you that his favorites at SKC are Mr. Daniel and Mr.Waters, we love all the staff and they are always there to help or answer any questions we may have.

My grandson started training here when he was 6 and due to unfortunate reasons, I had to pull him out. 5 years later, and not only did they all remember him, it was like no time had passed at all! I've been coming to kickboxing classes for almost 1 year. I was looking for something completely different from a dull gym routine & found more than I could've ever expected! Mrs. Jennifer is our instructor & she's wonderful. The atmosphere at SKC is nothing but positive, energetic & fun! It's a great workout in addition to learning self defense. Great facility with phenomenal instructors and staff. I’m in the adult kickboxing program and Mrs. Waters is my instructor. I’ve been doing martial arts for a lot of years and she is by far the most skilled instructor I’ve ever had. Highly recommended!

Excellent Martial arts center for students of all ages (kids, teens, adults). Lots of different classes available, from karate, to Brazilian jiu jitsu, to kickboxing, to weapons training and self defense. Great instructors, who are very knowledgeable and very experienced (including Mr. Siegler himself, who is a 10th degree black belt). Great for those looking to learn a martial art, stay active and fit, learn self defense, stay disciplined, or looking for a group of individuals to communion and grow with.
