Ladies be mindful if your midriff mistakenly shows, staff will treat you as if youβre in the nude, they will throw you a shirt from the lost and found while the guy with the ripped shirt and areolas peacefully works out and no one bats an eyeβ¦.. not enough equipment and if there is, itβs inoperableβ¦ Do better!!!

Not sure what the lady in the front desk name is but she was obnoxiously rude. Someone needs to check on her. She was so quick to leave our customer service needs once her shift was up, if youβre going to work in customer service, assist the customers lol. Then came back a few days later to the 24/7 access, mind you I have my military ID already registered for it. My husband scanned his ID, he went inside, then I scanned mine and I went inside (because I already scanned it) then she comes right up to me and tried to shove me (she touched me) out of the door to scan my ID. That was so unprofessional and not happy with my experience at this gym because of this lady, didnβt catch her name but once I find out Iβll make sure to edit this post and put her name here so people are aware of this obnoxious βladyβ lol. It ruined our gym experience, we had to leave.

My only problem with Smith fitness center is the 24/7 check in being down so much! Why? Multiple gyms off post can figure out how to make it work. How does the US Army have to close the GYM for network issues Multiple times a month??? A 13yr old could figure it out! And the cleanliness is never up to Army standards considering there are 2 permanent employees who sole purpose, as I've been told, is to clean. How are the bathrooms and gym floor so dirty and in a state of disarray?

If you call to confirm the βhot tubβ is open. They say βit should beβ it has been closed for months. And the water in the showers is cold. I like cold showers and hot tubs but when the showers are always cold and the tubs always closed might not list it as something you offer. The weight rooms are stocked pretty well so if you want to get a lift on and then shock the system in a cold shower. This is the gym for you.

It's a good gym overall. But their 24/7 access system frequently goes down. I often can't make it during their staffed hours. There's no notice on their website or otherwise that the system is down until you're standing outside the building and have wasted a trip, which has happened to me several times. As high a priority as physical fitness is on a base, I'm surprised this keeps happening. I'll update this review with a higher rating when that's no longer the pattern. Solid 4/5 otherwise.

The gym on the installation is among the better facilities available, offering a range of equipment. However, I couldn't help but notice that it tends to get quite warm, especially during the winter months. While working out yesterday, I checked one of the thermostats and was surprised to see that the temperature was reading 79.9 degrees. For those looking to experience a sauna-like environment, I think it would be more appropriate to utilize the designated sauna instead of enduring the heat while trying to exercise. Despite the temperature, I still managed to complete a decent workout, although I find myself sweating profusely, which can be uncomfortable. Overall, while the gym has its merits, the warmth issue is something that definitely needs to be addressed for a more pleasant training experience.

It's a decent gym for the average workout. There's a decent variety of Hammer Strength and Nautilus machines. They host a variety of fitness classes. There's basketball and racketball courts, a recreational pool, a lap pool, a hot tub, an outdoor one mile track, a sauna, and large locker rooms with showers.
The gym is usually clean, though not the most organized. Posted signs and the courtesy of a few others seem to be the extent of the effort to maintain any order. The weights, both plates and dumbbells, need to be reset as they are rarely returned properly.

The facility is large and has a ton of equipment and free weights. It is a clean gym especially for the size. That being said, there were a number of machines out of service and it is packed all the time making it difficult to go in with a set plan/rotation because what you want to do won't be available. Additionally the 24 hour access service is down.
Ft. Moore needs another facility this size to accommodate for the amount of soldiers constantly in there.

Nice gym, but the dumbells are very disorganized, it's a circus. A simple label with the weight markings will go a long way. Also, it's the fly/reverse fly machine MIA? Would someone help me find it? Yes, I know you can do fly with DB, it is also an easy ticket for an injury.

First time here at ft benning a friend suggested this gym and so far I like it could use some little updating on machines and some different ones. More benches(only 2 bench press). And maybe invest in some wet wipes to wipe machines instead of using cloths everytime and then having to do laundry and fold them all. But other than that I will be coming here.

24 hour access is not 24 hour access. The system only works when it wants to. This gym waste peopleβs time. Woke up at 0400 to go workout. To use my 24 hour access card. Yes, I am registered. What do you know. Iβm denied access. Wait, my friend will try his card. Denied access. Wasted my entire morning. Also, wasted an entire scoop of pre workout. Their system is garbage. If you are going to have 24 hour access then you need to ensure that is it actually 24 hours access. I am not sure why it is so hard to put in a system that works. Stop wasting Soldiers time. By the way, this is not the first time this has happen to me. This makes number 4. Get a system that works or take the 24hour access away. Stop wasting Soldiers time, gas, pre workout, motivation, and their expectations.

Plenty of workout equipment and it would be an absolute awesome gym. Though I am sure it has been 100s if not 1000s of times. The fact that the mask rules are so strict is ridiculous. I understand during the rest or walking around the gym. If you are on the treadmill or engaged in your workout and you need to breath you should be able to let it drop down so you can breath. I promise everytime a gym employee demands the mask on we've 100% have thought about putting them on the treadmill with their masks on and trying to breath etc... perhaps the MG is making this gym and a few others do this to bend to social media or something but we all know covid and masks are just ridiculous.

This location is currently mask-mandatory for all patrons, regardless of COVID vaccination.
Smith gym is the most accessible gym on Fort Benning. Driving through the main gate, it'll take you about 4 minutes to scan in and start working out. Naturally, this means it's the busiest gym on the post. Be prepared to wait for some of the equipment and dodge through people.
Most of the main floor is dedicated to freeweights and resistance machines. Plenty of cable machines, dumbbells, and benches. Limited squat racks and barbells. You'll also find some CrossFit equipment here, such as soft jumping boxes. They have more dumbbells than racks, so there's a great deal of double-stacking and the weights are rarely in the correct spots.
There's a rock climbing wall (availability is hit or miss), and a lap pool downstairs. Upstairs you'll find plenty of cardio machines and a room mostly filled with equipment for calisthenics (pull up bars, mats, glute hamstring isolators, etc).
The employees are friendly and keep the place clean.

So I'm on TDY orders.. *Not from this installation so im not aware of the rules however common sense even tho im double vaxxed I need to wear a mask.
So im in smiths mask on and im doing muscle ups/pull-ups and my mask starts to slide off.
I was then stopped mid work out and told by a heavyset darker skinned employee named Chris to put my mask up and there is a zero tolerance. I unaware and very understanding tell him okay explained that I'm not familiar with this installation rules and zip my make tighter and continue working out.
Chris then decideds to return in an unprofessional manner saying that I'm on camera with my mask of and I need to leave. I again explained it was my first time in this gym. I explained that it slide slightly of while doing muscle ups . He informed me that it was zero policy still and told me the door. I'm a very unprofessional manner, completely interrupting my workout. SO I WOULDNT expect him to know how pull ups work but it's literally for the mask to slip a little.
But I guess kicking people out rudely, for working out normally it the standard
