I started training with Bo in June 2020, right in the middle of Covid, at a time when I really needed a reset in life. I’ve always enjoyed health and fitness, but I was at a low point and chose to put my energy into working out instead of counseling or therapy. I have been particularly impressed by his attention to detail, the depth of his knowledge, and his tech-forward approach to tracking exercises and progress. While he keeps things simple in correcting your form, if you ever ask him follow up questions, it’s clear that he knows his stuff inside and out. I also really like Bo personally — he’s funny (in a dry / sarcastic way), and he’s a very thoughtful person which makes small talk between sets much better.

Bo and I have been working out since the beginning of this year (~8 months). I had a decent foundation of weightlifting over the last 15 years, but I wanted accountability and coaching on this facet of my overall wellness.
Bo strips down strength training to the fundamentals and holds you to them. I am stronger than I have ever been even though I am well into my 30's, and still getting stronger. He keeps it simple in his coaching to not overwhelm and pushes at the right times to help you break through when you might be plateauing over a couple weeks.
I enjoyed working out with Bo so much that when my wife started asking me about potentially getting a trainer for herself I was like "you're not going to do better than Bo". So now she's working out with him as well.

I've been working with Bo for a bit under 6 months now and his program and and guidance have literally helped change my life and fitness levels. Reviewing for online training. I travel frequently and have used online training for about 12 years now. The platform that Bo works with has been a game changer for logging workouts and having easy access to him and the programming for questions/comments/concerns. We had a great intro session to learn what I wanted to get out of training to make sure his style of training was a good fit for my needs. I really appreciate that he was open he wouldn’t take me on as a client if his style and focus of training wasn’t a good fit. It really shares that he cares that his clients get what they want out of the training.
I have been able to get modifications to my plan based off my availability with relative ease and extreme promptness. It’s been really nice to have the full support remotely.

I've been working out for a very long time, but my last 3 years have been the most productive, shown me the greatest results, and have had the most fun working out...all due to Bo! I'm much stronger now than I was in my 20s. I've increased my barbell deadlift by 200lbs over the last 3 years. I'm so happy with the way I now look. When I started with Bo, I didn't expect these types of results. I thought age, a vegetarian diet, and a busy family life would be against me in obtaining this. Bo was positive from day one. He is knowledgeable, and I'm always learning from him, in person, and on Instagram @bo_stansell_ . Besides being an awesome trainer, he's become an awesome friend, too. Bo really cares about his clients, and wants you to be the better version of you that you want to be. I started working with Bo over a year ago after years of trying different styles of personal trainers and fitness studios/classes focused on high-intensity workouts. I would work out almost every day, sometimes twice a day, so I knew I had the ability to commit and work hard, but still wasn't seeing the results I wanted and knew there had to be a better, more sustainable way where I wasn't so discouraged and exhausted all the time.
The first thing that set Bo apart from other trainers was his intake process - before scheduling any sessions he asked questions about my workout history and goals and had a conversation with me about his approach to determine if it would be a fit. I appreciated Bo helping to vet if his format would be for me and if we would work well together before I ever lifted weight one with him. Training is an investment and it's great Bo takes care to have these pre-training screens.
I thought since I'd been bouncing around between all sorts of high-intensity and low-weight workouts, that I got bored easily. I wasn't sure how going back to a more basic weight routine was going to work for me. It turns out doing something that finally produced results wasn't boring at all! By working with Bo, I have been able to spend two hours a week training with him and continuously getting stronger and spending the rest of the days simply being active doing things I enjoy, like walking with my family. As a busy corporate professional and mom of two, finding a fitness program that works and offers this kind of efficiency is incredibly valuable.
My career occasionally has heavy seasons of travel. Bo has solutions for that as well. I was able to move to his online training program for a few months until I was in town regularly again. During that time, Bo routinely checked in to see how the workouts he created were going, would give feedback when I logged a workout, and would give me the nudge I needed if life on the road tempted me to skip a workout. I greatly appreciated the encouragement and support!
My focus in working with Bo was not rapid weight loss, but really more building stronger muscles over time without feeling like I had a second job to do so! He uses an app with clients that allows tracking everything from workouts, to weight, to body measurements, and even progress pictures. It's been so rewarding to look back at the first month I started with Bo to the present in the app and see the significant strides I've made. I'm stronger than I've ever been and feel so much better about me as a result.
Bo is highly knowledgeable in his field and always learning more. He is invested in helping his clients succeed and sharing helpful information in relatable ways. Bo is simply put the furthest thing from your 'typical trainer.’
I found Bo through group training classes and quickly gravitated to attend only his sessions. It was made abundantly clear that he places importance on form and giving cues throughout the class which most often lacks in group style training.
A few months ago, I decided to take the step into personal training with Bo and couldn't be happier. Growing up, I never had the weight room experience and made many attempts over the years to grow my confidence in lifting weights. I attended countless fitness classes, purchased online training guides, and had the on/off trainers. What I really needed was better guidance and programming. And now I'm here stronger than ever and couldn't have imagined being able to do one pull up - let alone 3 at a time now - all thanks to this guy. He’s listened and set goals with me and as a result, keeps me extremely motivated.
There's a fundamental difference in his approach to training compared to others that give everyone that works with him such an advantage. Aside from being a fun person to be around, he's extremely knowledgeable and trustworthy. And believe me, trust is such an important part of building a relationship with your trainer. I’m currently working through an injury and Bo has been incredibly helpful. He's adjusted my routines, alternated exercises, and given the necessary firm reminder to pace myself to help my body heal.
He's set up a simple to follow framework that builds progressively. It's not about having a new workout each session - He’s helped me focus on perfecting form and building strength. I really appreciate the app integration the training program is hosted on. This gives me visibility of the planned workouts and I have the opportunity to learn about the workout before our sessions. With other trainers, I would show up, they would guide me through a workout, and see you next time. This is the 100% exact opposite. First, I feel like I’m in the driver’s seat for my workouts and practicing what I’m learning while he focuses on my form, spots to help with those final reps, and answers all my questions. And second, it’s not just a come in and workout type of scenario. If I have questions on days we’re not together about my workouts, I'm able to ping him with a question and receive a quick response. It's so helpful to have that support outside the training sessions.
If I could give more than 5 stars I would. There's not many out there like Bo and there is no doubt anyone that works with him will see great results and progress with his coaching and training style.

I have been training with Bo for about 10 weeks now, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience. From the get go, one thing has been clear - Bo genuinely cares about helping clients achieve results. When I first reached out to Bo about becoming a client, we had a lengthy conversation so he could understand what I wanted to get out of training. I appreciated the fact he didn't try to put me in a box, but instead he worked to build a plan around my lifestyle and my personal goals. I like that Bo takes a holistic approach. He doesn't only focus on strength training for the hour you spend with him, but he also devotes time outside of training to provide guidance on nutrition and overall wellness. He doesn't make you feel guilty when you slip, but instead motivates you to do better next time and to not let slips become habits. One of my favorite qualities about Bo is that he is somewhat of a purist - he doesn't try to slam a ton of supplements down your throat but believes you can achieve incredible results naturally. Bo is very knowledgeable and really has a passion for being an expert at his trade. He knows just the right amount to push you...when you think you have nothing left or can't go up in weight, he can convince you to get one more rep in or add 5 more lbs. Overall, Bo inspires greatness. I can truly say I look forward to the days I get to train with him...and I would be remiss to not mention his sarcasm - that is just icing on the cake!

Growing up, no one ever considered me an athlete. I was pretty content for awhile not being “that girl” because I was too weak. I found Bo through a group fitness class, where I felt and looked completely lost and clueless. I had never strength trained before and I could barely do a proper push up.
When I took the plunge into Personal Training, Bo made setting measurable goals and implementing a research driven approach to our training program a top priority. From the first session, we laid the foundation for a holistic approach to fitness that spanned nutrition, workouts, and stretching.
Bo’s training style truly embodies the high school sports coach you would have always wanted. He’s organized and holds you accountable to show up, work hard, and push past your negativity to get that extra rep in. But at the same time, he’s incredibly funny and empathizes with the bad days where you feel like garbage and need to mix things up. Through the highs and lows, he consistently provides the right safety nets and support that can make failing not only encouraged but dare I say—kinda fun to do. (The gains I’ve had from pushing myself to failure, in a safe way, with his support are unreal.)
Bo’s dedication to my progress has changed my life and helped me gain the confidence that I can do anything if I set my mind to it, and consistently do the work to get there. I’ve been able to achieve goals faster than I ever thought I would, and set new goals that honestly, I never would have dared to do on my own.
While I‘m still a work in progress on the whole “athlete” thing, I’ll get there! And in the meantime, I feel stronger than ever.

Love love love it! I was your steroptypical cardio girl/ too scared to try any weight heavier than 10 lbs until I started training with Bo. After my bicycle had an unfortunate encounter with the Atl street car tracks, I needed someone to help me rehab my knee. Instead of a physical therapist, I chose Bo. That’s how good he is. He had me walking in a few weeks, and when I was better, Bo ended up getting me into the best shape of my life! This man didn’t just take some weekend trainer course and slap a label on himself- he has his degree in Exercise Science. When Bo tells you to do a move, there is research and knowledge behind it. And it WORKS! I never knew how strong I was until Bo showed me just how much weight I could lift. Because of Bo, my body feels fit , powerful, and strong. I no longer just wear bikinis- I slay them. I worked out with Bo for at least 18 months both in the gym and via online programming that he created. Not only did I get much stronger, but I also learned proper form so that I prevented injuries. We increased my bench press by 70lbs, and I put on about 10lbs of lean muscle.
Bo will push you physically and intellectually. He's incredibly well read on a variety of issues beyond exercise science. I appreciate our conversations, book and Pod Cast discussions that we sometimes get in between sets (if I can breathe).

Been working out with Bo 1:1 for 1.5 years after a year without a trainer and have noticed the change; definite increase in strength/size and overall athletic performance. If you are willing to work hard, his training will get you where you want to be. I also highly recommend his strong group classes......great group workouts and as challenging as you make them.
