It's a real shame that I'm leaving this review because most of the staff here deserve better. I'd planned to either cancel my membership or put it on hold until sometime next year because I just don't need it right now. When I called, I was informed by Sandra, the Business Office Manager, that there is a 30 day notice required for cancellation. Something I wasn't made aware of when I signed up. Yea, I'm sure it was in the fine print on page 27 of their terms of service, or something like that, so I guess I'm at fault here. I requested she waive the 30 days notice, I was planning to come back at some point down the road, and I wouldn't be using the YMCA for the next month anyways. She would not, not only that, but she demanded I come to the YMCA in person to cancel my membership, after I take care of the balance for the month that I was not intending to use. When I requested she transfer me to someone with decision making authority that could waive it, she rudely informed me that she was the decision making authority and she would not. I've spent over $6500 at this YMCA over the last year and a half, between my membership and the summer camp program, and apparently that last $67 means more to Sandra than the next $6500 I might have spent next year and beyond.

It should also be noted that there is no way to cancel your membership online, despite the ability to easily sign up online. You have to speak to the branch where you signed up, where you'll get the distinct pleasure of Sandra rudely squeezing you for another month of membership, despite knowing that you won't use it.

We have been Y Members for most of our time here in Grovetown. I hadn't been in a long time. My son and I decided to change our routine. We thoroughly enjoyed our work out. The atmosphere is calm and inviting.

I love coming to the YMCA at this location. Overall, I've have had a great experience, the facilities are clean, the equipment is solid, and the community vibe is welcoming.

However, today, I had an off experience recently that I feel is worth mentioning from a yoga instructor assuming the class starts at 11am. I was in one of the rooms about to cool down stretch, not realizing a yoga class was about to start, I didnt see a sign (could have been on the open door back side), lights were on, and people (3 ppl) were scattered around casually, stretching, one facing the back mirror. I found some space on the side. Then a woman came in and sat down at the other mirror in the front,, she glared at me while I was standing, when I asked if this was a class, she just said “yeah” no courtesy or possibly saying, Ms. are you participating in this yoga session?" She wasn't very nice by any means. Not in her tone or body language. I said “my bad,” grabbed the mat and proceeded to walk out.

She asked someone else (the person facing the mirror in the back who had dumbells and was stretching) if they were doing yoga and they said no, but and that they was going to sit there and wait.

While it wasn’t the worst situation, it did rub me the wrong way. A little more warmth or better communication would’ve gone a long way.

I still enjoy coming here, but I hope the instructors will remember that kindness and communication goes a long way. You never know what people are going through. Kindness matters.

worst experience of our lifes!!!!! please dont bother signing your kid up at this organization for flag football. they srewed up all the ages and it has been a mess!!!!! Our son was harrassed by parents due to their mistake because he is tall but certainly in the age categorie. Then they called me and said they had to switch him,
i explained that he was born in 2012 not 2011 and i can bring the birthcertificate to the next game " lol" then they said oh no he is fine he can stay. Again people asking about him, its great for a childs selfasteem to be harrassed like that !!!!!! Gets better, then they sent an email to all the parents saying he and another kid are off the team, you cant make this stuff up " lol"...... long story short he AGAIN stayed on the team ( of course!!!!!!) because for the last time he is in the correct age cadegorie. Some other kids were off so, however they put all the wins that team had to 0(!!!!!!!) from 6 to 0!!!!!!!! Imagine how those kids felt!!!!!! then they make it to the championship anyways and of course everybody is mad!!!!!!!! Our son checks this morning the score chard and guess what they deleted it all, nothing online that says they won the championship. PLEASE do not waste your timeband sign your kid up at ymca, find a different organization!!!!!:) We mailed our cancelation for membership to the Y already. Aa I told them in my letter, human error is part of life but the way they handeled it was absolutley pathatic!!!!!! BTW......we feel bad for the other teams as well, they deserve better as well!!!!!!! Not fair to them. Again if you want your child to gain selfasteem, good sportsmanship and make memories, this is not the place. Before i forget the coach was awesome, he fixed as much as he could and did a great job!!!!!!!!

The other staff at the Grovetown Y have been fantastic but the manager Sandra…soo I have been taking my boys to this Y for almost 2 months now. I was tired of them gaming and gaining weight. I have a membership with a different gym but for 18 and older. So I get a membership with the YMCA so my boys can work out and lose weight. Kids aren't doing the activities that my age group was doing when we were their ages(so they need a little push). So when we were leaving out Sandra said your son can’t workout unless you get a note from the doctor?!! I asked why am I just hearing about this?! She asked when we usually come in so she can have a talk with the staff members that were there! 🙄 Lady, leave me alone! I workout with my boys so its not like they’re just running around with the equipment. I thought this was a family gym but now I am rethinking my membership!

My teenage son and I visited days ago, and this location is best described as : Subpar.
Members did not clean the equipment after usage, and it appears old and run down. The atmosphere dreary and off-putting.

I will not be returning to this location. I rather drive a bit further to enjoy the quality of another location..

This is a smaller YMCA than others in the area but it certainly doesn’t lack great staff. I love that they offer Homeschool PE twice a week and that I can get my workout in during that time too. Always clean, and always friendly faces to be seen.

Love love love this gym! Child care is wonderful the staff is so sweet always remembering kids names and being so attentive. My daughter loves coming and is always excited. The gym is clean and has good equipment. My husband and i love the accessibility to the outdoor track across the street.its great! I 100% recommend to all thinking of joining this branch.

Friendly, clean, with a wide variety of classes to choose a great workout. Treadmills have TV’s and all equipment is more than sufficient. Free weights are plentiful as well! I love the YMCA as I needn’t sign a contract and can exercise at the membership Y two states away…for free! Two perfect reasons to join over some other gyms!

Love it here! I love the members and especially the daycare center! My boys both love coming here almost everyday. The staff is all amazing and their equipment is always well kept and theres a variety of things to use. Best gym and community I’ve ever been to! Being away from family and having almost no one here (husband is military) I’ve been able to get through because of this gym. Also, try the cycle class 10/10! Instructor is so motivational and really gets you to break a sweat but with joy!

Absolutely love this place! It’s been a highlight of living in Georgia for us (we didn’t have one near our previous home). The staff and classes are amazing (Zumba, mixxed fit, kick boxing, etc.), and my kids love play n’ learn! They also do a parents-night-out event multiple times a month that, we, and our kids, love! I’ve been attending this gym for about a year now! I’m so pleased with the cleanliness of this facility as well as the awesome daycare staff! This morning I had some payment issues where my account was supposed to be on hold because of covid, I called and the male was super nice and told me he’d have to send it over to the business manager. Well MiKayla who is the manager emailed me within an hour of hanging up, responded very quickly as we had a whole conversation and fixed my issue! I’ve NEVER seen better customer service and professionalism than I experienced this morning!
