I have been a regular member of The Training Room for over 5 years now. This is a uniquely special gym, from the programming, to the coaches and community. The owner, Amber Goppert, is an exceptional trainer and her programming yields real results. Whether you are a beginner or seasoned athlete, you will find this gym is able to challenge you to the extent you are willing to challenge yourself. I cannot recommend The Training Room enough, it has changed my life in the best ways. It is truly special.

Have been trying to contact them for information on personal training. Got an automated email from “Allison” and never got a response to my reply. After calling multiple times finally got an employee who just shrugged. Confused as to why they wouldn’t want more clients or at least respond. Forum has better customer service

I've been training with Sam Braxton for a little over six months and can confidently recommend both his training and The Training Room's facilities.
I'm a competitive volleyball player who has been dealing with knee pain for six years. I've tried a bunch of different trainers, physical therapists, and online programs with mixed results over that time period. Training with Sam is the first time in years that I haven't felt like I had to choose between pain management and maximizing performance. He's extremely knowledgeable and adaptable to whatever the volleyball season throws at me, whether that's elbow, shoulder, ankle, or hip pain. I'm jumping better than ever without being forced to limit my practice time by my knees.
TTR's space is also excellent. There's a really impressive variety of equipment, and you can basically always get whatever you need for your specific workout.

I've been training with Sam Braxton for a few months and have been very pleased with the results so far. From our first introductory call together, it was clear that his approach to fitness is a personalized one. We talked through my fitness goals and dove into what I was looking to get out of working together. I'm a longtime runner with a bad habit of neglecting strength training and have recently found myself more injury prone due to that imbalance in my routine. Sam was quick to offer his guidance and customized a workout/diet plan that would help me build the strength needed to improve my durability as a distance runner.
Sam is very approachable, but still keeps his clients accountable for their fitness goals in a way that is motivational and feels like you're on this journey together. Every workout has purpose and his routines are always structured. He is also highly adaptable -- quick to get a read on where you're at during any given session and will effortlessly adjust his training plan to ensure that you get the most out of your time together. I would strongly recommend him.

The past year has been a journey of consistency and perseverance, guided by my Fitness Coach, Sam. He has been a constant source of support and motivation throughout this challenging yet rewarding experience.
My fitness journey began with a weight of 223 pounds, which peaked at 228 pounds. Today, I’m consistently maintaining a weight around 188 pounds. My body fat percentage has also improved significantly, from over 26% to below 17%. Sam’s accountability and balanced lifestyle coaching strategy have been instrumental in this transformation.
Over a year ago, I received a diagnosis of diabetes, which had a profound impact on my mental well-being. Sam’s patience and understanding during this difficult time were invaluable. He customized my fitness plan and helped me develop an updated lifestyle that has restored a more positive body image.
Sam’s coaching and flexibility continue to inspire me to maintain and enhance this positive body image. His support has also played a crucial role in my renewed mental stability. I am grateful for Sam’s guidance and contributions to my journey of self-improvement.

I trained with Sam Braxton at the Training Room for a long time. Sam was certainly knowledgeable—he kept me injury free, helped me get much stronger, and was always able to tailor things to my goals/needs. He’s more than just a personal trainer, too. He had lots of good guidance on diet, recovery, etc. I recommend Sam if you want to improve your strength, fitness and life!

I’ve been working with Sam Braxton for a while now, and I can’t recommend him highly enough — especially for women like me navigating fitness in their 50s. What truly sets Sam apart is his adaptability and attentiveness. He listens carefully to what my body needs on any given day and adjusts our sessions accordingly, whether that means modifying movements, focusing on mobility, or pushing me (safely!) when I’m ready.
As a woman in midlife, I so appreciate having a trainer who understands that this is a dynamic time for the body, and who meets me where I am — not where some cookie-cutter program says I should be. Sam brings deep knowledge, encouragement, and respect to every session. Working with him has helped me build strength and resilience while staying attuned to my body’s unique needs.
Highly recommend!

I trained with Sam Braxton for a year, and it was a really positive experience. His personalized approach to fitness and nutrition helped me make real lifestyle changes and achieve noticeable physical changes in a decent time frame. Sam was always consistent and reliable, yet flexible when schedules needed to shift. He was also super supportive and informative whenever I had questions about form, technique, eating, or overall fitness. I’d definitely recommend him to anyone looking to start their fitness journey or get back into a solid routine.

I got up on the morning of Mar 29, 2025 looking for a good HIIT class and came across The Training Room through a quick Google search. I had never heard of this business before today--but after my experience, I won't be returning and can't recommend it.
I arrived about 10 minutes after an 11:30 AM class had started. After paying for parking, I realized I was likely too late to join and figured I'd check with the front desk to see if there were any other class options later in the day. That's when things took a troubling turn.
Before I could even finish my sentence, the front desk attendant cut me off with, "I'm going to have to ask you to leave." No greeting. No attempt to understand why I was there. Just a sudden and dismissive response that felt more punitive than professional.
I asked if I was being treated this way because of the color of my skin. Rather than engage with the concern, the attendant grew defensive, and the tone became even more uncomfortable. Later, I received two follow-up calls from the business. The first caller claimed the attendant "felt scared" because I challenged her response--even though that same caller admitted the situation could have been handled better. That framing--where a Black man simply questioning poor treatment is spun as a threat--is not only tired, it's dangerous.
The second call, from someone identifying as a manager or owner, was the most disturbing. Instead of showing concern or professionalism, she took an even more condescending and defensive tone. She accused me of "playing the race card"--a classic tactic used to deflect from accountability--and then said, "Good luck navigating life" & also stated that "my life is going nowhere." Those comments were clearly meant to demean and dehumanize me, as if to remind me of "my place" for daring to speak up. This is the very definition of racism: I raised a concern about being treated differently due to race, and her response was racism--dismissive, disrespectful, and retaliatory.
What should've been a simple inquiry about a class turned into a demeaning and racially charged experience. From the front desk to leadership, the energy I received was exclusionary, unprofessional, and deeply offensive.
If you're looking for a gym that treats everyone with dignity and respect--this isn't it.

I've been at The Training Room ATL for almost 8 years, so I will give you my completely unbiased opinion. This place is amazing. It's conveniently located right off the Beltline and has an array of different class types to suit any fitness goal. They also have the most knowledgeable group of coaches and trainers of any gym I've ever been to. It's also an excellent place to find a gym community. Can't recommend it enough.

Avoid if you’re being cautious about COVID-19. Mask policy has been spotty since reopening and a lot of the stated corona policies are inconsistent: stopped in to buy supplements right after Kemp said gyms could reopen (TR was one of the first local gyms to reopen) and I was the only one wearing a mask despite their stated policy; front desk person had on just gloves. I hurried out horrified and texted friends who are also members and the one who’d opted to return to in-person confirmed patchwork enforcement.
I was a member for 2 years but just cancelled out of how they’ve handled things since March. Arguing over charges during lockdown, multiple billing issues, very rude owner, and most of my favorite coaches have left. Management doesn’t hesitate to tack on premium charges to already expensive membership; the Unlimited TR classes for $189 has to pay an additional $30 for open gym time if they want that; new outdoor classes require purchase of an expensive piece of equipment that the owner models for. Zoom classes cost extra.
Really bummed, I liked this place a lot except for the biannual programming overhaul that would happen right when I’d start to love a class (RIP Boxing, RIP Animal Flow, RIP Switch Cardio Agility). The positive: Coach Colleen is the lifeblood of that place and she’s wonderful; the variety of workouts keeps you on your toes; it’s challenging; they emphasize proper form and technique. I made a lot of friends here... many of whom have likewise opted not to return anytime soon.

I used to do the class pass circuit but really felt I’d found the right gym when I came to the Training Room full time. The coaches all know my name and make me feel welcome and comfortable learning how to lift and work out safely while putting increased demand on my body. I'm seeing results like I never have before and those have markedly improved my performance with competitive cycling. I also really appreciate that TR knows that life happens - like when my car wouldn't start this morning and they moved me into a later class. Finally, I love supporting female-owned, local businesses who give back to causes and our community. All are welcome here and they really support that. Love TTR!

*DON'T GO HERE* The most over rated, over priced gym in Atlanta. The staff and owner are BEYOND rude and workouts are weak and inconsistent. The staff are very motivating and take the time to know your name. Great location along the beltline. Membership is a little pricey. It’s also been a lot busier recently also so it’s been tougher to reserve classes. You almost have to book two days in advance to guarantee a spot. Overall good experience.

My first time going to a gym of this nature and l really enjoyed my workout. Boxing is super fun and the time flies!! The other classes really worked me out but l got a little lost with the concept of timing and the instructors don't really explain this too well at the beginning of the workout, ( for beginners).
I considered buying a membership but was told that it would only apply to the classes and not to use the gym, weight room, etc.
I'm just not sure that l want to pay close to $200 a month for classes only and no personal one on one time or access to other types of workouts.

The workouts fly by, and are always diverse to keep your mind and body guessing from class to class. I have seen more results in the past few months from Training Room than in the past few years just working out at a standard gym. I joined The Training Room 4 months ago in hopes of getting my butt back in shape after some long months of avoiding exercise. After the initial killer workout, reminding me of the lack of cardio and strength I had, getting into the routine here was easy. The trainers are super motivating and helpful. They push you to your limits but not over - a big thing for me having several bad sports injuries in the past from over training. This is NOT a crossfit gym where you are competing for time and weight - they do more circuit training in most classes that will leave you wiped but not damaged. The variety of class types and times allows you great flexibility, and the community here is unlike any other gym. Not only are the staff/trainers friendly, but all those who come here. If you're looking for a new home gym, come here.

The Training Room is the first gym in years I found that worked, I enjoyed, and I stayed! My body composition has changed dramatically; I've replaced fat with muscle, I look better naked AND in clothes, and most importantly I'm stronger and more confident in MY body. I've been a loyal TTR member now for a year, going 3-4 times a week, coming off years of no strength training (and despite being a distance runner, it showed).
The programming is designed to prevent common injuries you hear about from other gyms, but is also FUN, challenging, varied, and everything you need to hit your goals to lean out, build strength, sculpt, and/or condition. The trainers are encouraging, highly skilled and experienced in their field, happy to modify movements if needed due to prior injury, and look to correct and improve each individual's form throughout class.
For a gym of its type, the facilities are very well equipped, organized, and clean. They are constantly reinvesting to enhance the gym's equipment, classes, and amenities because they truly care about members and continuous enhancements in programming.
The programming is why you join TTR, but if you're the type to invest yourself into relationships, you'll find comraderie and a supportive gym family here as well. Hope to see you in class!

This is hands down the best place to work out!!!!

By far the best trainers, group classes, and atmosphere in Atlanta - conveniently located on The Beltline.

Great gym with some great trainers. The owner spends a lot of money on getting good equipment and keeping the place nice. This is NOT one of those gyms where the owner bought some weights ten years ago and called it a day. It's a great place to workout and right on the beltline.
