I enjoy coming to the Wilson Y. The staff at the front desk greet you with a smile. You're sure to run into someone you know. The instructors are professional and a joy to be around, especially the body pump and pilates instructors! Even when I Don want to go I go. I leave feeling refreshed. It is really like a family there.

Recently joined and not impressed. Where to start?
The actual gym area is tiny. The gym seems like an afterthought and I’m getting more and more turned off. Come at the wrong time of day, it’s sardines. There’s one of each piece of equipment, with the exception of treadmills, steps, ellipticals. With ppl swarming like ants, it’s tough to get a targeted workout. Some of the equipment is old and actually rusted. One thing I do enjoy is the indoor walking track. Great view of the continuous pickleball games taking up a large amount of space and time. Let’s talk about the adult gym floor. I’m glad there’s always something going on. Why weren’t the other Y locations taken into consideration with gym floor space? Why are there no courts at the other locations? Living near the Wilson and Steiner locations- why aren’t there more court and pool options?
The kids have sports that could use more court space but it’s never enough for each sport to have sufficient time. Feels limited. For example, the summer volleyball had to cut a few practices bc there wasn’t anywhere to practice?? Also, There is no summer basketball bc there is no space.

The bathrooms feel old and gross. The one by the pool is always one less stall bc it’s out of order. The sauna is relaxing but small and cramped after 4 ppl. It also feels a little old and dirty.
The pool? Seems like there’s never enough life guards. Most times when we go, the big pool and the splash pad are the only ones open bc there aren’t enough guards. I bring older and younger kids so that stinks.
Classes?
Unless you’re apart of the cross-fit cult, classes are limited. I’d imagine some are more popular than others. I love body pump. Every time I try to go to the ONE morning class, it’s packed to sardines. Awful! No space to even stretch out good. Frustrating bc there aren’t any more morning classes offered. I don’t understand how a gym this popular has so many issues.

I mostly come here for their indoor running track, which is pretty good. The AC (typically set at 70-72F) at the track helps a lot on those hot and humid summer days. The staff is courteous and most of the patrons are polite and keep out of the way of the runners. Overall, I recommend this place.

I’ve been going to a Family Y gym since I was in 11th grade. I’m 36 now. Up until this point I’ve never had issues with dress code. I’ve never seen a dress code implemented. Now, they’re enforcing a dress code to cater to a subset of people who go to the gym to worry about what others have going on versus actually bettering themselves. Incredibly disappointing to see. Why this gym decided to suppress a large portion of their members to cater to a select few is well beyond me but enough to make me leave this gym and stick with Crunch Fitness full time. I, along with several other members and trainers, have made the jump to Crunch and this won’t be the last. Dress codes are weird to implement in a gym.

Haven't been too happy with the life guards this summer. They aren't watching or enforcing the rules like I observed last summer and the ones b4. I had to tell one the other day that 3 young kids were back swimming in the closed area, after I witnessed one girl floating face down. They couldn't have been older than 7.. The ones in the stands don't look like they're watching as diligently. My kid had another kid pulling on his legs trying to pull him under the water. Thankfully I keep an eye on mine even tho they all passed the swim test, but many parents do not!

I had an extremely disappointing and negative experience with this childcare center. Specifically with a worker named Vivian. From the moment we arrived, she was aggressive, unwelcoming, and visibly lacked basic empathy or communication skills; qualities that should be non-negotiable when working with kids. I’m genuinely concerned about the emotional impact Vivian has to the children she takes care of.
I spoke to the manager and she mentioned that this is not the first time they had a problem with Vivian. She even mentioned that there is a petition to remove her from taking care of kids, which I think is very necessary.

Very disappointed. Will not come back.

What I witnessed today was so uncomfortable. Vivian was just ignoring a child crying and not even consoling her. When the mom arrived, she was very aggressive and defensive. I thought this place was something I’d be comfortable leaving my kids at. After today’s incident. With how Vivian acted, not so sure I’d recommend leaving your kids there. You know your job and what you signed up for. You should be well equipped and know how to be compassionate with kids you take care of. So disappointed on how this was handled.

The Wilson Family Y gym feels like your own personal spa retreat. With a steam room reminiscent of Russian bath, sauna, and a whirlpool, you’ll leave feeling completely rejuvenated! The facility boasts three swimming pools—two indoors and an outdoor one with an area complete with water shoots for the kids. It has room with two massage bed that fenomenal! The staff is incredibly friendly, and the entire place is kept clean and welcoming.

Conveniently located right off I-525, with easy access to I-20, the venue offers plenty of parking for guests. If you’re looking for a post-workout treat, just a short walk across the street leads you to Tropical Smoothie Café, where you can enjoy a refreshing protein shake or a delicious sandwich.

The staff in the gym is extremely rude and they should all be replaced. I've been to this location twice and BOTH times have dealt with the rude and very unprofessional staff. When I spoke about it with the staff at another location they knew Exactly what location I was taking about and who before I even said it, which says a lot. I suggest to anyone considering signing up for a membership to go elsewhere because the management obviously doesn't care enough to address the trash attitudes of the staff.

Our family recently joined the Wilson Family Y as a way to keep our family moving together.
There are multiple programs for families but also for individuals such as taekwondo, fall and spring sports, swim team, crossfit, kids gym.
This branch has an inside pool with four lap Lanes but also a dedicated space for open swim and classes. The outside pool offers a wide area with different types of water features as well as the pool. There are at least six lifeguards at all times, the lifeguards make sure that there are breaks for the children. When these breaks happen the children must leave the pool but the adults can continue to swim. When you arrive with small children it is advised that you check into the table underneath the tent cover to assess the child's swimming ability and they can get a band that reflects their swimming ability. The outside pool offers a large Splash Pad area, a toddler pool that is 6 inches deep, a twisty water slide, shaded lounge chairs as well as unshaded Lounge chairs and a smaller wading pool for toddlers.
Inside the gym there is a weight section, a separate workout space that's smaller, an inside walking track, multiple class options, pickleball opportunities, open basketball opportunities just to name a few.
We are still learning what is available.

The staff are usually very helpful and polite. We are enjoying the many possibilities to keep our family moving and grooving.

My 2 boys and I went to Wilson YMCA and received a tour. The guy was great with the tour and the boys liked what was offered so I signed up the same day. 2 months later, my boys were approached by a older man (I was sidetracked by Stephanie asking me about my autopay) stating that they cant be on the machine w/o wrist bands; so we go to the counter for the bands and the lady states that my 12 yr old can’t be on the machines anymore. Stephanie doesn’t offer any other options besides walking on the indoor track. I can take them on a track for free! So I ask to cancel my membership. We had been going there for 2 months, with the 3 of us working out together and NOW you guys turn my son away?! Kids these days are overweight and inside ALL day and my boys wanted something better and the YMCA took that from them w/o other options!! Then she gets on a personal call and walks away. Oh and she said 30 days but my cancellation says 30 August! Make it make sense.
UPDATE: Thank you Ms Henry for giving me a refund. The briefing of YMCA was done with my boys and I and I told him our goals. No one had a problem until 2 months later and then they could not give me a straight answer for their error! Again thank Ms A Henry for taking care of me.

We always go here and have a ball at the pool. They need more shaded areas, and the new umbrellas are pretty see-through, and the shade they provide isn't that great. Bring back bigger, thicker umbrellas. Not everyone wants to be in direct sunlight. In fact, most people are trying to get under the umbrellas with small children or just don't want direct sunlight.

The employees of this facility go above and beyond to ensure the happiness of their members. A few weeks ago I lost my keys and received help trying to locate them from every member that was available to help. Not only were my keys located for me to get the next day but they also made my long day being stranded at the facility locked out of my vehicle as easy as possible for me and my kids. My kids were watched while I went through the process of locating them and given toys to play with. While waiting for pop a lock to come we ended up being there all day. Upon hearing my kids and I haven't eaten in many hours they so kindly offered us some lunch. Everyone was concerned with the issue and was as kind and courteous as possible. I am beyond thankful for how well we were treated! I will always recommend the Wilson YMCA to anyone. Thank you all!

The Wilson Family YMCA is one of my family’s go to place to workout and have fun! We love that we can go and there is so much to do and be part of. My partner wakes up early to play basketball. The outside pool is awesome. There are two splash pads, a slide separate from main pool, and a toddler pool. There are also two inside pools and a jacuzzi. Currently my son is attending swim lessons and playing baseball. When we go to workout we leave my seven year old at the kids gym. They are very organized and friendly. It’s is worth the $80 membership especially if you have a a lot of kids. That membership includes two adults and 6 dependents.

The supervisor lifeguard on duty told us that 3 pm they would close outside area and pool to check the chorline and water levels ! She did say we could just sit out from 3pm-4pm and wait . And use at 4 pm ..
Then she rudely comes up at 3 and says you need to get out of the pool area and go use indoor pool or come back at 4pm .

The Wilson Family YMCA in Augusta GA is the location to enjoy activities with your family and get your massage. The facility is clean and the desk staff are excellent & ethical people.
but I am saving the best experience for last Augusta.
It's "JC", he's one of the best additions to the Wilson Family YMCA!
I've had aches & this and that for about half a year and I went to other massage places which did not deliver like JC did.
Now, I am walking a revived body that is working so much better. My massage was absolutely the best of all times, I will be back!
Make JC your Massage Champion Augusta community.

I joined this gym when I moved to the area and joined the CrossFit program. Most days I would do the group workouts within the CrossFit area because the program was sufficient for average CrossFit athletes. Many others also do the classes. I was approached by the CrossFit coordinator one day, and she called me a "solution" and told me l'm welcome anytime in the CrossFit area because I took part in her program. Meanwhile, other members were doing the group workout right beside me, and when I asked about them, she said they were elite athletes and they could do whatever they liked. This inclusivity and outright friendliness is acceptable and led me to continue my membership.

I love the Y and the CrossFit program even more. Being a star athlete or having years of experience with CrossFit are NOT requirements for participating. Come as you are with an open mind, be ready to learn, and you will get better with time. The community in there is unmatched also. I’ve met some of the best people in these classes and look forward to seeing them everyday. Lastly, the coaches are the best and I truly adore our program coordinator, she is amazing and wants to see each of us flourish in our CrossFit journey :)

The CrossFit program at the Wilson YMCA is unmatched. I've attended this gym for a little over a year and a half now. There is no better community that celebrates and supports you with wherever you are at in your fitness/CrossFit journey. This is one of the most diverse gyms in the area. Whether that is with age, race, gender, sexual orientation, etc. We welcome ALL to the sport of CrossFit. Our program coordinator, and coaches, are those that believe in you and work alongside you to obtain your goals, while also challenging you to be a better person and athlete. Here we are family. Here you are recognized for being YOU. Here at WYCF, average is enough <3

I've been a part of the Crossfit community at the Wilson Y for almost 3 years now. The coaches and people that participate in the classes are the most welcoming people I've ever met and uphold a standard for everyone else to be the same. I've never been to another Crossfit box where the program director pours their heart and soul into their athletes the way Kelly does. If you are thinking of starting Crossfit I'd HIGHLY recommend starting here!

Joined the Wilson YMCA again after many years of being away. Our local Crossfit affiliate had recently closed and we needed a new gym home. Crossfit was a priority as was childcare. Every other amenity was simply a bonus. The Crossfit space is the best I’ve ever encountered from a coaching perspective. The men and women running the program are thoughtful, challenging, intentional and authentic. They create a space where diversity can flourish, where all athletic levels can have their needs and expectations met and the programming is approachable and well balanced. The space needs more equipment but operating under the umbrella of a non profit makes it challenging. The coaches always make the most out of what they have and we never want for anything. Our family loved it so much we also became coaches. I work part time as well as a lifeguard and referee at the Y. The aquatics center is a special addition to the facility. Especially Katie’s pool and the mission it serves in our community. You won’t find a better Crossfit experience anywhere in the city at the price point that exists at the Y, nor can you match the coaching prowess and experience they bring to the table. Lastly, the essence of the Crossfit community at Wilson is unparalleled.

I joined this gym when I moved to the area and joined the CrossFit program. Most days I would do my own workouts outside the CrossFit area because the program was insufficient for average CrossFit athletes. Many others do their own thing outside of classes. I was approached by the CrossFit coordinator one day, and she called me a “problem” and told me I’m not welcome in the CrossFit area because I do not take part in her program. Meanwhile, other members were doing their own thing right beside me, and when I asked about them, she said they did class previously so they could do whatever they liked. This discrimination and outright rudeness is unacceptable and led me to end my membership.

I have visited a few times no issues yesterday I went in and was targeted about an inch of skin showing I was told to leave so I went all the way home and put a tshirt on when I came back I asked where in the contract did I sign said I couldn’t wear this item nothing was pulled up for me only told to go look in the gym at the sign. I went and looked it’s at the very bottom hidden behind equipment people can’t see this nor are looking this needs to be in your contract and on the door upon leaving I saw two females leaving with skin showing nothing was said. If singling people out is a way to handle things I don’t know how long I will continue to come here. A sign is definitely needed not everyone can just go back home and grab a shirt and I definitely can’t do that every time either. I will respect the rules but I will not tolerate others walking in and no one says anything I will just leave another review and move on to a new gym.

Just recently got to Augusta as my wife is a traveling nurse. We tend to get into some of the sports right after sign ups. Even after getting there after signups each YMCA across the country has always been so accommodating to us and wanted our son to get to play and added him to a team. Well guess what NOT this YMCA!! Reached out and had a conversation with a Mr. Deante Shavers who told me he would reach out to his coaches and see what he could do. Oh might I add I had to reach out to him multiple times with messages and he called me back after the third message. That being said he would call me back. Well guess what after a week and AGAIN 4 messages to him with NO RESPONSE!! It baffles me that this day and age with all of our communication resources people DO NOT call back. How do you have a management job? How are you allowed to continue to work there when you clearly don’t do
What you say! People like that are pathetic in my book! Their word means nothing and is VERY aggravating when your child is the one to loose out because of their lack of professionalism! Have a good day doing nothing Mr. Shavers!!! 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😞😞😞😞😩😩😩😩👎👎👎👎👎👎👎👎

Lake Forest Hills Prime Time which is run by Wilson has been an utter and complete failure. Here we are, two days into school starting and I have not even been contacted to be told if my child has a spot or is on the waiting list. No communication what so ever. I called myself and spoke to the director who advised me that there are only 90 slots but over 400 applications and they are still processing applications. Where's the logic in that? Why wasn't it communicated that there would be a waiting list when I turned in my application? I, like many parents, depend on these programs and I completely understand if they fill up but I don't understand the lack of communication, the lack of proper planning, and the lack of care that someone screwed the pooch. I go back to work soon and I have no idea how I'm going to get my child from school after this week. I depended on a service I have used in many cities for many years to give me the time I need from work and this location has completely failed to offer the program in a way that makes sense. I still don't know his status and have not been contacted by anyone. The director turned her phone off. I'm out of options and no one seems to care that they set a precedence they couldn't fulfill. I'm sure other parents are just as angry.

We're in town for a couple basketball tournaments and are Y members back home. The Wilson Family Y has been an awesome basketball court away from home and the other on-site facilities look awesome!

Very high quality and run with good family and Christian values. Skimpy garments revealing belly are not allowed outside of the pool area.
There is an indoor pool as well as a water park quality outdoor fun area with many options for babies up to adults.
They take 10 minute breaks on the 50 of the hour outside, but the indoor pool stays open with a family lane.

I wanted to become a member until I overhead janitorial telling an employee he had a picture of him doing something he wasn’t supposed to be doing. Management takes pictures of video footage from the cameras around the gym. Very disturbing. How are you supposed to trust it’s not being used to take pictures of members in compromising positions, especially females?

Great gym, they offer crossfit classes as well as other classes. Out door swimming as well as indoors. Offer daycare as well but it is limited for two hours. There have been cases where our workouts last a little longer They will call you to come get your child. Which can come a little tedious. Other than that it's a good gym.

I signed my boys up for swim lessons and they got sick with Covid and I couldn't bring them, they had only been to 2 lessons and I called and one of the staff members said she would give me a credit for next Swim and I called the following month and NO ONE could find the credit so I was out of $170. I even spoke to the Swim manager and I haven't heard anything. I think this is wrong because she can see on the books that my boys weren't signed in and still didn't credit my account. Poor leadership qualities. I wanted to join bit after this i will take my business elsewhere and share with my friends about the poor business.

It was a great experience heading to the pool. It was most enjoyable on the inside pool because the outside pools were so crowded. The staff are very very friendly. The membership fee is worth it for access to the pool, hot tub, sauna, gym, courts, etc. I recommend this over the local gym membership due to family-wide activities that are included.

I did enjoy working out here, but I think I’m going to have to pass. Ive been approached about an inch of my skin showing on my upper abdomen more than once. I do believe there is a rule about mid drifts, but I’ve seen other ladies especially in the evening come in just sport bras and/or crop tops and no one says anything to them. If you’re going to enforce a rule make sure it’s enforced for everyone, and don’t interrupt mid set to tell someone to cover up. Ridiculous an inch of skin lol I’ll be sticking to max fitness , way better gym.

I pay $75 a month to be able to use the pool. It was supposed to be closed for a week and now it’s been closed for 2 with no end in sight. That’s a least $35 I’m out as of today. I would have frozen my membership until the pool was fixed. Members should have been made aware of the pool status. Also pool management needs to do a better job making sure the lifeguards enforce the lap lane rules. The lanes are not for kids playing, people having conversations, aqua jogging in the well, or just hanging out. I’m furious and expect management to reach out to me.
