I'm Greg, owner and lead trainer at ActKnowledge Performance & Recovery. With over seven years of experience in corporate gyms and running my own business, I focus on helping clients progress sustainably through proper form, injury prevention, and long-term health. My journey into fitness came from personal struggles battling weight issues, an eating disorder, and deep self-doubt. I know how hard it is to feel stuck and how powerful it is to reclaim your health. That’s why I built a space where people feel seen, supported, and pushed to grow. No ego, no judgment, just real training for real people from someone who’s lived it, gets it, and has your back every step of the way.

After suffering from a foot tendon injury for two years, I had given up on my workouts due to pain. I was so frustrated and was gaining the weight back I had lost. I took a chance and decided to hire a personal trainer. I stumbled upon Greg during a Google search and immediately signed up. It was a blessing that he is in central Oahu, I wouldn’t have to drive to town. Greg was sympathetic, he too had suffered a terrible foot/ankle injury and knew my pain. Slowly but surely we worked on my stability muscles and balance, working up to full blown barbell deadlifts. I always felt so safe with Greg by my side. His knowledge is impressive and I have learned so much from him in regard to proper form. After a full year of working with Greg, I am back to progressing with my fitness goals and I’ve even reached my goal weight. I could not have gone back to working out without Greg’s help and his constant encouragement and his belief in me and my abilities. Greg has shown true compassion, and given me the tough love when I needed it. His experience shows through his attention to detail and his passion for fitness. I highly recommend him!

Iʻve trained with Greg for 8 months. I wanted to do personal training to learn how to exercise properly to alleviate my back pain and prevent future injuries. Throughout my time working with Greg, I gained so much confidence in my abilities and felt comfortable working out on my own. Greg takes the time to explain how the exercises work and what muscles it targets. He also provides a workout calendar which made it easy to keep on track of my fitness.

Although the gym is small, I rather enjoyed the personable experience. It has all you need for a good workout and had less distractions than you might encounter at a larger gym. I had his undivided attention during sessions.

Greg was a very encouraging, positive, and respectful trainer. He is also inspiring as I got to witness his journey from a non-runner to running a half marathon! It encouraged me to start taking my running more seriously. Overall, I highly recommend training with Greg. His massages are great too!

I’m a massage therapist and go to Greg when I need bodywork. He is one of the very, very few that I trust and can depend on for a productive massage! He is a professional in his field - very knowledgeable, very intentional, and very goal-oriented. He is also genuine, caring, thoughtful, and easy-going so I always feel at-home at his modest but well-equipped gym.

I have also had personal training from Greg. He has several specializations so he knows the body very well. His understanding of movement and muscular balance allows him to do a thorough assessment and develop a treatment plan for both massage and fitness.

I’ve been training with Greg for about 6 months now and it’s been the most progress I’ve seen in my entire fitness journey. He’s created such a positive environment around personal training which for some is a very intimidating thing to start. He’s been very encouraging and holds you accountable with weekly check ins which I believe has made a huge difference in achieving my goals. I HIGHLY recommend Greg as he is the best masseuse I’ve ever encountered! His knowledge of the physical make up of our bodies, and his knowledge as a personal trainer, really helps target your problem areas as well as knowing the right pressure for your specific needs. I have friends who like strong hands who said he is excellent, but I on the other hand, have a sensitive body, so he just lets you know to let him know if anything is too hard or too soft. He is a kind, caring human, who truly to improve the quality of life for his clients. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed. The fact that he can be mobile is the best part for me and I’m sure for many. Not having to drive right after the most relaxing massage is amazing! You can continue zen relaxation at home! I've been training with Greg for 3 years. I used to be really scared to go to the gym or workout because it was so new to me. Greg helped me gain so much confidence. Although I do not have any concerns with pain, I do not want to get to the point where I do the wrong exercises and sustain injuries that'll hurt me in the long run.

Greg is so patient and always takes his time to make sure my body is balanced. He does squat assessments before training to make sure he addresses any imbalances in my body. Even though I work out pretty frequently, I do not feel any pain in my body because Greg teaches me how to do exercises correctly, stretch before and after working out, and also informs me if anything is wrong with my body. Not only that, I have never been so happy with how I look. He also provides diet plans for those in need.

Not to mention he gives the best massages. I am currently a student and sometimes my shoulders get a little tense due to being on the computer all the time. The massages make me feel so much better. It is also a perfect way to do self-care for a stressful lifestyle.

***** Greg is 100% the real deal! ***** I was in search of a personal trainer and asked for recommendations from a friend that works at a local nutrition shop who also happened to be a successful body builder. Me, I’m a 55 year old Navy Commander that has always been dedicated to mind and body fitness. I was looking to take my fitness to the next level, despite my age, while at the same time supporting someone who was trained in the most recent science of fitness and has a passion for making themselves better while helping others achieve their fitness goals. I could never have imagined the genuine, professional, dedicated, and down-to-earth trainer that Greg revealed himself as on day one of my fitness journey with him. I learned very quickly about my muscle imbalances and how wrong I’ve been approaching my training from his first assessment of me. He quickly identified my weaknesses and tackled them with patience and precision. I went from 210 lbs to 185 lbs in a matter of a few weeks with zero cardio - AMAZING! My physique now looks like it did when I was in my 20’s. But wait, there’s more. Greg is also trained in massage therapy. Greg is an excellent personal trainer. One of my goals was to improve my push-ups for PT and he helped me to exceed the expectations. I'm able to max out and receive more points for my PT score. The equipment he has is all in great condition. He was knowledgeable and thorough with the program he created for me. He communicated clearly and used good cues. Greg (and the person who told me about his massage services) are both without a doubt heaven-sent. He's not only a kind-hearted, caring, grounded human; he's also a fantastic massage therapist who has provided healing like none other I've received in terms of addressing muscular tension/pain.
I've had a shoulder injury for years that led to my right side overcompensating and a continuous struggle with balancing strength on the left and right sides of my body, and Greg has excavated so much tension from my left shoulder/beneath the scapula area, that one day after a session, my shoulder even stopped making the clicking noise it always makes when I roll it! His skills and knowledge have given me back some of the health and balance I felt pre-injury, and I would recommend him to everyone!
Additionally, because I run, dance, paddle, and work very actively with children, I guess I'd acquired a lot of knots throughout my muscular tissue (especially in shoulders and legs), and Greg immediately zoned in on every single one. He has single-handedly (or I suppose more accurately, double-handedly) restored a calm to my muscular system that has benefitted not only my physical being, but also my ability to regulate my nervous system and therefore my mental/emotional being. I've even gone into Theta-wave meditation while in a session, it was so powerfully relaxing!
If you have any pain, any knots, if you are active, if you move often or not enough, if you seek healing, basically if you're a human being, this is the guy to book for a massage!

Greg is great. I don’t trust many people and am a natural skeptic. Greg checks out! I just started training with him and can feel the old me coming alive and I can’t wait to turn it up. In addition to personal training, I had Greg give me a massage at his studio before I got started with working out because my back was killing me after a vacation/plane ride. Best massage I have ever had. I’ve never actually had my back feel better and have it last after a massage except for the recent massage with Greg.

You should just book your consult for training or your massage or both. Do it.

I had a massage with Greg after having neck and shoulder pain and tension. Greg took his time to give an extremely thorough massage and he focuses on my needs for the entire length of the treatment. He really takes care in everything he does, and is very clear and calm with his communication. Highly recommended! Greg is an absolutely amazing personal trainer who really knows his stuff. I had injured my right psoad and hip flexor a few years back, which still gives me trouble. I am an avid gym goer so I figured that I knew what I was doing but Greg taught me the importance of balance, mobility, and flexibility. He taught me stretches that really helped alleviate my psoad pain and challenged me just enough for me to feel extremely accomplished and proud. Greg never judges you and is SO SUPPORTIVE. When I decided to start my fitness journey earlier this year, a trusted friend recommended Greg. At first, I was hesitant about calling a personal trainer because I had never been to a gym, exercised vigorously, or worked with a trainer before. I am the not so graceful and very uncoordinated type. I wasn't interested in building muscles or getting in peak performance condition. I just wanted to feel stronger, healthier and build my flexibility. Greg was such a blessing. He is so easy to talk to, non-judgmental, and a good listener. He helped me set realistic goals for myself and I have been pleased with my results. I have lost weight and inches, and generally feel better about my health. He helped me figure out my macros and encourages me in eating healthier. Greg is so knowledgeable and such a patient teacher, always encouraging and yet a task master about pushing past my limitations to get to the next level. He takes the time to walk me through each step of every exercise to be sure I understand the proper form; he always reminds me about the mind-muscle connection. I still hate squats and lunges with a passion, but I would definitely recommend Greg whether you are just like me or a serious athlete. He will definitely help you to achieve your goals.

I trained with Greg for 2 months. In those two months I improved significantly. The most important thing I learned from Greg was the importance of form and foundation which I never knew before going to see him. I had lost a lot of weight on my own and my muscles were very weak from doing a lot of cardio and not enough strength training. I didn’t even know this was a thing before I went to Greg. He worked first with building my foundation and getting my muscle strong enough to do basic movements which helped to avoid any more injuries cause I got back and knee issues. I never was able to do free squats because it hurt my knee and my body too much. I was squatting 70lbs in two weeks all because the whole time I didn’t have the right foundation or form. He had me doing workouts I never thought I could do (high box jumps) and no injuries. The most important thing I learned from Greg was not looking in the mirror when Working out, to really feel what muscle is supposed to be working. This forever will be kept in my mind. Now when I work out I can literally feel when I’m not doing an exercise in the correct form and know exactly what to do to fix it. Mind-muscle connection.

On top of all this knowledge, Greg is super personable. He actually talks to you and gets to know you. He even talks about mental health which is a major part of working out and getting into shape. I also shared his struggles in his own journey too which made me feel like he really understood. I can’t wait to go back and learn more from him!! I definitely recommend him if you are looking for more then just results!

Greg is an amazing massage therapist. I have had multiple sessions and he has removed months of recurring tension from my body. Since the pandemic, I had a lot of knotts in my neck and lower back from anxiety and due to long hours stuck on the computer. Which was too difficult for acupuncture to fix. As a college student and part time worker, this fit my budget and was a very affordable compared to other massage areas I contacted. You will leave feeling relaxed and rejuvenated. Whether you need a deep tissue massage or a relaxing experience Greg is the guy to cater to your specific needs!
