As a dance instructor who has travelled internationally, one of my favorite things to do is find the best local dance studios for social dancing and for teaching. Aloha DanceSport stands out as they have brought in some incredibly talented teachers that offer dance almost every day of the week. Their studio is clean and floor is top quality. The AC is a big perk of dancing here as it doesn't get too hot even when it is packed. I recommend Catalina's batchata and salsa dance on Friday night and the Tuesday night instructing for batchata and salsa!

In 2018 I was interested in learning a new hobby. After a quick brainstorming session, I concluded that I wanted to take up ballroom dance with a focus on social dancing. Numerous studios exist in the Honolulu area, but my initial encounter and Q&A session with Lucas sealed the deal for where I wanted to start.

As a soccer player/surfer, I was hesitant to enter such an unknown environment. However, with the help of the instructors, fellow students and the Aloha DanceSport community, I got my feet wet and I am now completely hooked. Each week I attend at least 2x group classes (usually with Lucas) and do 1x private lesson with Yanna.

Aloha DanceSport offers many group classes throughout the week (e.g. Latin classes on Tues/Thurs/Sat) as well as scheduled social dancing events. The group classes are very affordable and are perfect for someone looking to dabble in ballroom. Our team usually meets on Monday and Friday evenings from 7-9pm.

Private classes, although a little more costly, have proven to provide the best results in my social dancing pursuits. Yanna makes it super easy for me by being flexible and working around my hectic schedule.

You'll never know it from the humility with which they teach, but Lucas and Yanna have many world champ titles to their names and use that background and knowledge to provide a strong foundation in ballroom technique and style. It's absolutely refreshing to work with instructors who have such enthusiasm, expertise and passion for their craft.

As a born and raised local, I never would have thought I would be dancing, but thanks to Lucas and Yanna I'm pretty sure I'll be dancing till I can no longer stand. Mahalo nui loa!

Great dance floor! This studio hosts many different classes and it's a great way to meet people interested in dance. The studio owners, Yanna and Lucas are amazing career dancers with multiple awards on their belt, yet, they are so humble and easy to talk to! I highly recommend anyone to take a class here or attend one of their many events!
