In the basement of Kahala Mall, where Hawaii's elite shop for $2,000 handbags and dine at upscale restaurants, something counterintuitive is happening. Wealthy residents are paying $199 monthly to sweat in a deliberately industrial yoga studio with exposed black ceilings and concrete elements—and they can't get enough of it.
CorePower Yoga Kahala has cracked a code that eludes many premium fitness brands: how to serve affluent consumers without appearing to pander to them. Located in suite B-11 beneath Kahala Mall, the studio serves a neighborhood where the median home value reaches $2.9 million and only 3.3% of American neighborhoods are wealthier.
The facility's aesthetic choices seem almost perverse for its clientele. Students practice on bamboo floors under exposed ductwork in rooms heated to 95 degrees, creating what one regular customer describes as "basement garage vibes." Yet this apparent contradiction drives the business model. The industrial authenticity signals genuine experience over ostentatious luxury—a preference increasingly common among wealthy consumers seeking meaning beyond material excess.
The real genius lies in CorePower's instructor-driven loyalty system. Take Ilze Shaw, who teaches across multiple Honolulu locations and has built a personal following through Instagram and consistent scheduling. One devoted student has completed 272 classes—representing roughly $4,000 in lifetime value and years of regular attendance. This retention rate far exceeds typical fitness industry standards.
Class composition reveals sophisticated demographic targeting. A recent session included four men and six women with diverse body types, achieving "inclusive exclusivity"—challenging enough for serious practitioners, welcoming enough to avoid intimidation. The 40% male attendance significantly exceeds typical yoga demographics.
The pricing structure creates multiple psychological anchors. While $35 single classes might shock newcomers, the $199 unlimited monthly membership appears reasonable by comparison. Class packages range up to $1,200 for fifty sessions, with 20% discounts for students and military personnel.
Location strategy proves equally calculated. Positioned between Uncle Sharkii Poke Bar and luxury retailers, the studio enables "lifestyle stacking"—customers seamlessly integrate wellness activities with errands and shopping. Premium amenities offset the industrial practice environment. Individual shower stalls feature geometric tile work and high-end fixtures, creating a spa-like post-workout experience.
CorePower's success in Kahala validates a broader shift in premium service delivery. Sometimes the most effective way to serve luxury consumers is through deliberately constrained, authentic experiences that require effort to access and commitment to master. After thirteen years in Hawaii's most exclusive neighborhood, CorePower Kahala demonstrates that experiential luxury increasingly depends on psychological rather than physical amenities.

Worst location of the studio. You can never find it unless someone shows you where it is. There are 0 instructions on direction online. I missed my class searching for these people. Do NOT come here.

They have lots of different classes to attend whether you want to break a sweat, tone, meditate, or relax. They are welcoming, it has a chilled atmosphere but upbeat as well. Very clean facilities and located in Kahala mall which has a Whole Foods store.

Make sure you go to Gios classes, highly enthusiastic and motivating person! Be ready to sweat and make sure to bring a water bottle. High intensity yoga in a HEATED studio. Really fun person and great instructor, always leave with an amazing workout.

I have enjoyed my experience with Core Power. I’ve taken Hot Power Fusion which has been so fun to try something new. I tried it out with a few instructors but Kina’u has made the class more enjoyable and I enjoyed her style. She allows for further instruction and demonstration, making the class easier to follow especially for a newcomer.

Tonight my friend and I did the hot yoga session and it was amazing! Or instructor Kina'u was amazing and really thorough with the movements that we did. She was sweet and very well/soft spoken. She helped us out when we were struggling to relieve tension. The class itself was very relaxing and power indusing. I would definitely recommend coming here and look for the instructor Kina'u, Isabella, and Emily!

Shout out to Krista Catafago/Sakaba for being such an awesome and inspiring instructor!
I've been friends with her husband, Phil, for a few years and during that time Krista would regale me with stories of her CPY/yoga life and how I should get into it. Literally for years I've been telling her and every other CPY enthusiast I know that I'm not interested and prefer surfing in my free time.
She invited me to an 'ohana/friends class this past Sunday at Kahala and I had such a great time that I signed up for a 1mo membership.
Looking forward to my next class! Mahalo big time Krista

My girlfriends and I are trying to find new ways to keep active and we've been telling each other we'll try yoga for the past 4 years lol and so we're glad we finally chose to try it out! We signed up for Yoga Sculpt with Armay and she was freaking amazing! :)
I loved how supportive, bubbly, and strong she is. I mean I don't really have anyone else's class to compare it to but I would def go see her again, she made me SWEATTTTT like I haven't done so since my teenage volleyball seasons.
Although, I highly recommend to please eat a good meal or snack and hydrate before you take this class cuz ya girl almost died but we pushed through.
Overall 10/10 great class. We went to the 7:30pm class which was a pretty nice turnout, not too crowded but a good handful of people who also help motivate you in the room.

place is nice, but I am now disabled and unable to walk and they will not stop charging my credit card for $15 and they still won’t stop charging me my membership fee even though I canceled it months ago. It’s really disappointing and per ADA they have to accommodate. Don’t go here. It’s $170 / mo w a discount. Not worth your money and the never ending charges. Let alone against a fully disabled person. I didn’t choose to be like this, and yet they won’t even have empathy. Really distraught over how this company works. 0/10

I love CorePower Yoga. The Hot Power Fusion class is my favorite. I love that you know what to expect, but small variations and different instructors keep the classes fresh! The instructors also provide great feedback and hands-on adjustments to help you get the most of your practice. I highly recommend CorePower.

The idea of me regularly attending yoga classes had to grow on me. I had tried a few different places around before I finally settled on buying my monthly unlimited membership with Core Power Yoga in Kahala. The tipping point were the sculpt classes, and especially the Wednesday morning classes with Kaley.
Kaley doesn’t waste time. She goes right into the workout and stays focused the entire 60 minutes. Her instructions are crispy clear and she doesn’t mind pushing beyond the comfort level. Her classes have fantastic flow without changing lights or experimenting with music volume. She allows enough repetitions so I have time to arrive into the proper form and feel the benefits of every single exercise.
I also like the Sunday morning sculpt classes with Max. I love his line he uses quite often “the hardest part is over – you made it to your yoga mat here, today”.
Core Power Yoga is a perfectly organized chain business with two more locations on Oahu and many more on the mainland, but you still have good family feeling when you make it there.

I love Stephanie P. Her small adjustments create greater challenges, class is always different and she motivates without yelling. She describes each move explicitly and incorporates anatomical detail which makes instruction easier to follow and added appreciation for the body. I am inspired by her spirit and her positive attitude. Although I was purely a sculpter, her guidance and kindness gave me the confidence to try C3 and that experience has added a whole new element to my practice. I am truly grateful to have her as my teacher.

This place is state of the art, beautiful, and clean. The manager, Nisreen, is gorgeous, focused, and smart. I am so glad my daughter, Sophia, introduced me to this studio. I visited from Hilo, on the island of Hawaii. Wonderful staff, and the classes are as described. Whatever specific class you choose, it will be the same sequence of poses, but the instructors introduce their own style of music for accompaniment and, of course their voices will be different. I loved it. I want to buy each instructor's music. It is that good. I can't wait to come back.

Its pricey, but I go because I like to eat!
Alex and Eric are my favorites because one is strong and one is gentle.
If they doubled up and simultaneously taught the same class, I would probably explode (with sweat). Lol. (its true)

Totally loved the whole experience. I never was attracted to yoga but this is "core power" a combination of Pilates, yoga and heat! I was amazed at how quickly I was able to get the moves and being a beginner, (I have a long way to go) I greatly appreciated the teachers support and clear, caring instructions. Sweating has never been so purposeful. Love the facility, fresh, clean, welcoming and the staff are wonderful. I leave feeling grounded, cleansed, fresh and inspired. True aloha is experienced here.
