I’ve never been a gym person but started my fitness journey with group workout classes with the Dynamix team. The classes are at Ikaika fitness factory, a private gym in Kakaako that has great machines and facilities.
I love the mix of strength training and cardio workouts that are catered to their clients goals, the focus on nutrition and macros, and the positive and personable team of trainers that always help to motivate and encourage me during my workout.
I’ve now developed a consistent work out routine, grown in muscle mass, and notice a huge difference in my mental health from working out with Dynamix. No matter your fitness goals or whether you are beginner or not, I cannot recommend Dynamix Hawaii more! Check them out!

Gilbert is by far the best trainer I’ve worked with. When you do the assessment he finds out what your goals are & works with you to take actionable steps to achieve those goals. I signed up for the classes & also purchased personal training sessions 3 months ago. The classes & education received about diet alone helped me lose the extra baby weight that I couldn’t seem to lose no matter what I did in just 2 months. I feel amazing thanks to Gilbert and his team! I’ve spoken to some of the others who attend the classes and some of them have been working out with Gilbert for 8+ years which is a true testimony of how effective his program is and not to mention FUN! They’re all great at Dynamix and I recommend them 100%.

This review is for Gilbert. I want to write it, but selfishly I don't want to. The more people who read this might want to book my time slot, then I'll have to share him. My husband began training with Gil 4 months ago. Because of the training, he is now the lightest and healthiest he's been in 25 years (15lb loss). My husband then gifted me sessions with Gil. I have dropped one dress size, and my friends comment on how much weight I've lost (7lb loss). We just wanted to lose those stubborn 10-15lbs, we could never seem to shake.
Gilbert knows his stuff. He is knowledgeable and practices what he preaches. He leads by example i.e., his meals and workouts. He is an all-around good guy, very likable and pleasant. He is a great hype man when you doubt yourself, or after you've accomplished a goal.
Gilbert trains and motivates others in a positive way. No yelling, scolding or guilt trips. He is easy going with a big smile. I've never seen him have an off day. He will also work on your nutrition and posture. Gilbert will push you and take you to the next level.
I look forward to my body and muscles hurting the day after. It feels good to sneeze and feel your abs in pain. Then and only then, do you know you've done a good job. We are very grateful and fortunate to have found Gil.

Gilbert and his team at Dynamix Health and Fitness are professional, top-tier organization that provides their clients with only the best health and fitness programs. Each client receives a program tailored to their wellness and fitness goals consisting of feasible diet plans and workouts to push them to their limits while also ensuring that the risk of injury is low. On the other hand, if you enjoy group workouts, they have fantastic group classes that run from early in the morning to earlier in the evening. In my experience, Gilbert and his team are the best in the industry and honestly care for every one of their clients, only wanting the absolute best and always rooting for us to achieve our goals. Been working out with Gil for a year now, I'd gotta say he's the best fitness trainer I've ever had, every session is always packed with intensity & a great workout session, he brings soo much hope and positivity to every session I go. A little personal of me but I'm kind of struggling with an eating disorder and eating very few calories but he never EVER judged my eating habits and I've had another fitness trainer make me eat way too much and then I've gained weight in the form of fat, but Gil he doesn't just add a bunch of calories right back, because I know my body is not ready for that, but I should be adding more calories slowly, Gil said he never had a client that's dealing with like eating too little but tbh he knows his stuff for sure, I'm in good hands because of Gil, cheers to many more fitness sessions, let's get my metabolism back in full swing! It is an absolute blessing to have found Dynamix Health & Fitness. Gil and Tina are thee most positive minded, encouraging and supportive trainers I’ve encountered… and that’s why I stay with them.
I’ve never been able to stick with a routine or show up to classes regularly, with other trainers.
But, with them… a workout is NOT a workout. It’s fun and I look forward to it!
Not only do their energy energize me, but I truly enjoy the workouts because they are do-able yet challenging and kick my butt every time! And no plateaus here, as they are constantly switching it up!
Highly recommend for those who are serious about seeing results.

Can't say enough good things about Gilbert. His helping to achieve your goals is unmatched. And his knowledge of how to work each muscle group, how to burn calories, and how to stay healthy is what makes him so good. Eveything from starting off with easy food preparations to match your body's requirements, to working on specific muscle group to reach your goals, and even keep you motivated when not in the gym.
I told Gilbert I needed to get five pullups in a five month time frame, and even I was a bit skeptical. But his help with musle isolation exercices and with food nutrition information, it was a goal I achieved sooner than expected.
Gilbert is a stand up guy, who will do everything in his power to reach your goals. He makes you work hard, and enjoy every moment of it. If you're interested in taking your health seriously, or gain muscle Dynamic Health & Fitness if the best place you could go.

Gil is the real deal. I stayed away from big gyms because I'm just a regular person that wants to improve my overall health which includes better fitness...
Gil has classes and personal training sessions that are doable for regular folks and challenging for those that are already fit.

Fighting the fat battle? Stressed out and struggling to find time to workout? Think you don't need a trainer because, yeah, you got YouTube/those workout DVDs/an app for that?
Trust me. There's a reason whatever you are doing has not resulted in the "you" that you want, and you didn't see it. And Gilbert will find that reason and squish it like a small spider. Focusing on nutrition, your motivational trigger, education, and of course tailored kick-tailbone workouts, your fat has no choice but to comply. I never had a trainer before because I thought I didn't need one and it kind of freaked me out. But something had to change--and for less than the cost of my home printer, the thought of living even a little longer and healthier seemed like a no-brainer. So I signed up with Gilbert through RomGym on Kapiolani (at the Imperial Plaza on Cooke St).
Over 4 introductory sessions with Gilbert, I lost over 8 pounds. My clothes fit better. I can lift up my kid more easily. And that is after kids & old knee injuries, very little time to spend in some gym, an illness and a surgery, and having possibly the slowest metabolism of my life. Gilbert checked in by text and phone to help keep me on track, was flexible scheduling with my recovery, and helped cut away all the nutritional noise (just Google "nutrition and weight loss" and see how many hits you get) around what to do when, for my specific goals and lifestyle. He was able to intelligently discuss every exercise in direct relation to the anatomy it aided, so I knew exactly what muscle was supposed to be working/burning/screaming to failpoint--which made a huge difference from just doing the work to getting results from the work. He tracked my exercises during sessions, measurements, strengths, and needs. He assessed and ensured proper form for corrective exercises (got a shoulder higher than the other? Did you even know you had one? Do you know how to fix it? Gilbert does) by simply watching my posture and a brief walk. He changed my workouts so I didn't make the old injuries worse, and made sure I didn't get bored. He taught me what the right form is supposed to feel like for me, so I could workout successfully on my own too. And you know what? No YouTube video/DVD/app is going to do that effectively, efficiently, or targeted towards what's specifically up with YOU.
Bottom line is that after months of trying to figure it out myself and failing, I lost over 8 pounds in 4 sessions. I worked out harder and better, with better form and no injury exacerbation. I learned what was useful nutrition without wasting time on Google, eating expensive pre-packaged crap, making myself bananas, or making everyone around me bananas. I have more work to do and I hope to sign up for more sessions with him.
He is nice and tough and honest, isn't a muscle head, doesn't act like the Cobra Kai instructor, and will make you sweat more, clean up your eating, and learn something. All of which will make your fat crazy enough to leave and you will feel better. A lot better.
