My family has had the opportunity to work with Ky regularly over the past few months utilizing his FitTruk and we can’t get enough! As a parent of two high performing student athletes, I have seen lots of training techniques and programs but nothing compares to the functional fitness training that Ky provides. It’s the perfect mix of intensity, strength, cardio and best of all… FUN! We have already begun seeing results, and plan on continuing our FitTruk training sessions. I turned 59 and decided to call Ky. As a 5'7", 250 pounder, I did not want to go to a gym because it is intimidating. There are a lot of very fit people and I have no clue how to use any of the machines and free weights. I started functional fitness training (exercises that train my muscles to work together and prepare them for daily tasks) with Ky on June 11, 2025 - two, one-hour sessions per week. After eight weeks I have lost eight pounds, and I am stronger, have more stamina, and slimmer in my midsection. I also see muscle definition in my arms, shoulders, back, and chest areas. I feel much better physically and mentally.

Ky is a great personal trainer and his functional fitness sessions are fun. He is encouraging but not demanding. He pays attention to what you are doing and how you are doing the exercise so it is done correctly. He also "models" each exercise for you and explains what areas he is targeting/focusing on when doing the exercise which is extremely helpful.

If you really want a good investment, invest in Ky. Like you, he wants the best for you.

Reached out to Ky to inquire about senior fitness for my Mom. He responded right away, and we started with an assessment. Ky is high energy and very encouraging, yet approachable for all levels. My mom was hesitant at first, since training is completely new to her, but grew more comfortable and confident as the session went on. We think she will do best training with other seniors, by joining a group Ky trains on Fridays. It's great to know there are many options to train one-on-one, with your family, or in a group. Ky fitness is really the “Ky” to your fitness goals!

Short story. I first met him the night I injured my shoulder at the gym that sent me to the ER. (Trying to do a handstand.) Fast forward. I pushed myself through injury to randomly again meet him. This was after I literally did the same exercise that injured me. (Crazy timing) His words of wisdom. “Rest.” Me being too stubborn. “I’m not going to rest. What or how should I train?”
Ky. Well… let me help you. Me….“Ok”
Well this has been the “KY” to bettering myself and my development! His boot camps and specific trainings have helped build and develop me physically and mentally with keeping my shoulder intact! No pain! I’m so grateful!
The group boot camps are affordable and the team is amazing! So diverse. Its not intimidating at all! Really a family atmosphere! Highly recommend.

Amazing ! coach Ky dedicated some time to help train myself and 6 cadets. It was intense but he made it fun long the way. With music and timers and he shows you the proper way to work out. If you are raising a young athlete and looking for the extra edge, then you got to give Coach Ky at Key Fitness a shot. He is all about functional fitness, focusing on strengthening every key muscle in your body so you can get stronger and quicker, improve your endurance and mobility. For some, it’s a little unconventional at times - pulling chains, pushing sleds, using a sledge hammer to pound tires, flipping huge and heavy tires, pushing a heavy ball uphill, etc. And he will come to train you with 110% passion, always engaging, motivating and positive. He is passionate about his craft, practices what he preaches, and very creative to ensure every workout is challenging. Coach Ky’s workouts will also challenge and improve your mental toughness. My son is 14-year old baseball player and in just a little under a month with Coach Ky, his coaches started noticing the differences in his strength and body movement. But if you come to Coach Key, be prepared to work your butt off because his workouts are no joke.

Ky Vuong of Ky Fitness is amazing! I was waiting for the 'right' time and circumstances to get my daughter to train with Ky. I discovered that such a time really doesn't exist! One day I decided to ask if he could get her on the schedule and he quickly made the time.

I am a 48 yr old female, and not the type of person that is self motivated to workout on my own. Ky made me feel very comfortable from the 1st meeting, and he is truly driven to formulate a plan based on your goals. Every Friday we have “Functional Fitness Fridays” with Key Fitness Hawaii at our FinFit Life Office. The exercises challenge your physical fitness and coordination and at times your mental as well. These exercises will definitely get your heart pumping and your core burning! 5 stars. Only reason being it works. After a for year weight lifting program in my local gym, doing what I already knew: i.e. form vs exertion rate vs burnout. I definitely got stronger during that time, but then I moved to Hawaii from Vegas and need something to keep my fitness up. My uncle and cousin had already been in keys program for about a year. They suggested to joining with them for the first time, I agreed. Little did I know, what would I was getting my self into. My 4 years of weight training flaws were exposed during the first “warmup” of 15 mins!

First of this is high intensity interval training. Pretty much an exercise that pays more attention to the functional strength of your natural body movement. #functionalisfit then times the exercise to 6-7 different stations, 1min each full out paced sprints. Full power and drive to push you past your bodies limits. Key is well versed in his area of fitness expertise, where I truly believe he would make us do any exercise he couldn’t do.

Second, drive pass your limits.
In my 4 weeks with key, I definitely enjoyed the intensity and challenge of the workout. Each week for 1 day a week, left me hungry for the next workout. Key comes up with custom workout routines/courses on his own, put to the test by none other than himself. So, in each workout you join, he can understand the stress and pain and exhaustion you may feel during your 1hour session with him. Many of the exercises were quite new to me in turns of complete isolation form. Which in turn I have incorporated into returning to the local gym.

Third. It works.
As I said, once a week intense workout like this will have you either hating it and quitting or loving it and persevering. I will attest to feeling pain and exhaustion I’ve never felt before, but the human body is amazing at teaching you what you can or cannot do. I added simple activities such as beach calisthenics and sprints. Every week I returned to train with key, I felt stronger and motivated to do not only better but work smarter. Pace is key to keybatta.

I highly recommend giving his workout a try. Being functionally fit is the future of overall fitness. you’ll never know your own capabilities until you try.

I had the pleasure of training with Ky during my month in Oahu – and boy did he kick my butt! 💪 As a pilates girl from Canada, I didn’t know what to expect when my cousin brought me to my first session! The workouts were so intense, and so rewarding, I always left the sessions wanting to come back for more!

I have been training with Ky for 3 1/2 months. I have lost 9 lbs and 2 inches of my waist. My friends and family have notices the change in my physique. I train 2x per week. On Wednesday we do a combination of CrossFit and drop sets. This allows me to individually work on my weaknesses. The Saturday sessions feature Kybata. This is Ky’s version of HIIT. The bootcamp at 8 am has a group of 10 people. 10 Stations 4x each. A combination of exercises that work different body parts. 30 seconds in and 20 second recovery. Then a challenge Kybata where teams compete for the Saturday championship.
The small group participates at 2:30 pm. This group goes 2 hours. With challenges then Kybata then ultimate challenges to test your recovery and resolve when physically exhausted. Ky tailors workouts from teens to octogenarians. He preaches functional fitness. Living your best life in a body that functions at its peak. Discipline and Consistency and maximizing your potential. I highly recommend Ky’s methods to Functionally Fitness.

I recently moved to Oahu with my husband who is active duty military, and being quite a ways away from friends and family, I have been looking for ways to meet people in my community. I am so grateful to Ky because I was able to meet really great people who are local to me while getting in a great workout!

I first contacted Ky through his website a couple weeks before my one month vacation in Oahu. He answered promptly and I was impressed by his knowledge and enthusiasm when talking with him. I knew he would be a very good fit for me. He asked me what my goals were and as a senior, I wanted to be functionally fit with a strong core and also have good balance. I have never trained with a trainer before so Ky started me on some conditioning workouts before my trip and checked on me after each workout, modifying them to suit my level.
I have had 5 sessions with Ky in his gym now. I love how he motivates me and makes me confident that I can complete each exercise. Ky is also very careful that I have good form so that I do not get injured. Each exercise is personalized to my needs and strengths and he takes videos of them so I can see how I am doing. The workouts are so much fun because there is so much variety. Ky has so many different types of equipment so the workouts are never boring. I feel stronger and my balance has increased. I’m able to carry bags up and down the stairs without holding on to the railing. My family is amazed with the progress that I have made when they see the workout videos after each session. I am so happy with Ky’s training that I am going to continue training on line with him after my stay in Oahu. If you want to get in shape, I highly recommend you contact Ky. I am so glad I did.

My 12 year old son has been going through Ky‘s training and practices for several months now. Results are there! My son is much stronger and more focused on his main sport with baseball. Throwing stronger and hitting harder and he says “i feel more in shape and much stronger”. Ky has good motivational skills in getting any age group in shape. Coach Ky has now been training our 10 year old son twice a week for a month now. Coach Ky functional fitness program was exactly what we were looking for during our sons football off season. Workouts are challenging but Ky inspires and instills confidence and Sometimes that’s all a kid needs to get it done - than that feeling of accomplishment sets in & that’s when you know this is a really good thing absolutely perfect for my son !

His core and roots will be very strong stronger than most his age and even older and all we have to do is keep coming back.

Low impact on his joints so he can grow without injury but at the same time building strength & power from within.

On top of that he got me working out with my son. It really is a special thing to get to workout with your son. He gets to push me now.

I’ve been doing functional fitness with Ky for 30min once a week for a month now. The mental and physical intensity is incredible and motivates my entire week. My weekly workouts change but I’m actually doing full body every session. I’m stronger in all areas as well as my mental fitness. I’m eating 3 or more times a day but the scale has gone down about 6lbs. The workouts are not basic or monotonous. I feel like I’m actually achieving a goal every workout and it’s changed the way I see fitness. I don’t need a gym anymore or anything fancy. I see the world as my gym. Going on a hike in Oahu with Key as our guide was one of the highlights of my recent trip to Hawaii. I visit the islands annually and have been on many hikes but this experience was unique. My group was looking to do a more challenging trail so Key recommended Ka’au Crater. This trail was almost 6 miles with more than 1,500 ft elevation, with muddy trails, large boulders, unmaintained tropical brush, streams, waterfalls, and oh so beautiful.

Key was the perfect balance of hiking with a friend yet with enough knowledge to share about local vegetation and urban legends. He is funny, entertaining, super motivating, and makes you feel you are in safe hands should any problems arise. This trail hike was hands down the most challenging hike I’ve done but easily my most enjoyable. It pushed me to my limits but with Keys help, I didn’t question that it was within my reach. The hours honestly flew by in between our jokes, interesting stories, and Instagram perfect photo shoots lol.

I would hands down recommend him to anyone looking to learn more about the area or are looking for a good physical challenge as he is a fitness expertise as well. Give him a try and I promise you won’t be disappointed!

P. S. He’s thoughtful enough to bring us apples and snacks, had booties and wipes ready for us after we were covered in dirt and took us to a local açai spot. Sooo Ono 🙂 These details definitely set him apart.

One of the best hikes in recent memory, ending at a magical waterfall (from out of the movies or children's books). Key led our team of 12 himself, and was a **motivational superstar** providing encouragement with delicious Fuji Apple slices locally made shortbread cookies as the final reward at the top. My body has been broken for many years. I have connected with many personal training situations. I’ve mainly connected with doctors because the conditions of my shoulders and knees from years of martial arts. Finding Key Fitness has changed my life. His outlook on fitness and personal training is definitely unique.

I trained with Ky back in 2016 when I was preparing for the 2017 Miss Chinatown Hawaii/Miss Hawaii Chinese Pageant. His sessions were always rigorous, but he knew how to make them fun and enjoyable. I wanted to lose fat and gain muscle, so he designed personal workouts for me to reach my goals. He even took the time to take videos of me working out so I could watch my improvements over time— which I am happy to say there were a lot of! He also gave me a personalized meal plan which consisted of a high protein diet which allowed me to see faster results. I gained more muscle tone, while still maintaining a slim physique. I felt stronger and stronger after every session, and even on the days where I thought I would pass out (hello Tabata workouts lol), Ky’s positive spirit and energy kept me focused and I was able to crush all of my personal goals. With his experience in body building competitions, he was even able to help me with my walk, posing, and overall stage presence— all of which helped me tremendously in my pageant competition. I have had several sessions with Ky over the past 3 weeks, and am really enjoying my training so far. Ky is both motivational and encouraging, but also challenges me. I fear he is going to catch on to my sandbagging and will ratchet up the pain...but it is what I need! And I can already tell from just a handful of sessions that he is very attentive to a training regimen that is tailored to what I can physically handle, but is always going to push me mentally so that I continue to improve more and more. Since I am trying to lose a lot of weight and get back into shape, Ky has given me homework assignments, checked in on me via text, and even stopped by my house to see what my home gym setup was like so that he would know what I can do at home to further tailor my "homework" workouts. It was so sudden. In the morning, I went in for a heart check-up. That afternoon, I was being prepped for surgery. It ended up being a cardiac quadruple bypass. A month of slow recovery, dependant on others to help me do simple things followed. Imagine barely being able to walk up and down stairs without using handrails because you cannot put any pressure on your upper body or risk tearing the newly repaired heart arteries. Getting out of bed was a task. I needed my legs, quads, hamstrings, and glutes to do all the heavy lifting. Most of all, I needed my core muscles to support their work. Guess what?!! I had nearly zero core muscles!

When I was cleared to exercise, two months later, I was nervous. I felt so weak. I felt like it was impossible to be stronger with my weak heart. I didn't want to be judged by a fitness buff. I didn't want lectures. And, I didn't want to be in a gym figuring machines out with people around me.

What followed changed my life.

I met Ky Vuong. I talked to him about building up my core strength. There was no judgement. He was supportive. And, he goes at my pace challenging me when he can and easing up with low impact exercises when I'm winded. I am not in a group setting and I never once felt less than for not being in shape.

It’s been about three months on a once a week workout with Ky. I have noticed my strength returning better than even before! I have improved agility with the core workouts, and the balancing training which I sucked at on day one, is now fun! Every week he introduces a new variation into the workouts which are anything but routine. I can handle the stairs and carry groceries now. My girlfriend even said I've improved my posture!

Ky has terrific interpersonal skills. He's patient with a novice like me even though I know he has high intensity clients, too. Progress. Momentum. Results. Lifesaver. These are a few out of many positive words that describe my experience with Health and Fitness Coach, Ky Vuong.

In May 2021, my partner underwent heart surgery. From that point, I listened to the universe's very clear message that he and I needed to give ourselves the care and focus that we've been neglecting. For him, he needed to rebuild those critical core stability muscles to include re-strengthening his newly repaired cardiac muscle. For me, I wasn't as disciplined as I needed to be to maintain a fitness regime on my own. I walk a mile every other day, but that's about the extent of necessary exercise I give myself. My partner and I didn't want to do the gym route. I personally tried distance training on video, going through tabata and yoga routines uninspired. And, I was not in a position to help train my partner who was still recovering from heart surgery. My partner and I realized we wanted a guide who could understand our unique and very different needs and who would be okay with us going at a pace that was a balance of challenge and comfort for each of us. I trained with Ky more than four years ago, and knew he would be the one to help us now.

I called and he wouldn't start with us right away as he required a doctor release my partner for exercise. Three weeks later, we had our first meet and greet session. Ky inspired us and challenged us with the right amount of balance that my partner felt safe to return again and again to work with Ky more. We love the one on one unique functional fitness exercises. We love his anecdotes and fun personality. We love his professionalism and genuine care for the human condition. We even love his new puppy Rocky!

I am so proud of Ky because he loves to give his knowledge to coach EVERYONE! What I mean is that he coaches the whole spectrum from kids, to recovering heart survivors, to ninja warrior type clients, to family fitness groups, and to senior citizens. I am most inspired by one of his senior citizen clients who has been training with him for more than 4 years. He said she loves to travel and traverses the world alone. She doesn't want to depend on anyone to lift luggage for her or struggle with mobility. She committed to keep herself strong in mind, body, and spirit. Ky is a great personal trainer! I originally started working with him while competing for a pageant and he has a lot of experience with a variety of fitness levels & goals. Ky is extremely qualified and always gently pushed me to work during our 1 on 1 hour long sessions. I never dreaded our workouts because he was always nice to talk to but still encouraged me to put in the work. He’s all about positive reinforcement - I never once felt like he was reprimanding or shaming me even if I felt like I was not consistent during the week. I started going to Ky to train for Army Basic Training. As a female, my main concerns were the endless amounts of push ups and running expected at boot camp. I found Ky through a high school friend’s video. I saw her progress and wanted the same for myself. I knew I needed motivation and that Ky would be able to provide that.

I reached out to Ky and scheduled my first session with him. It was one hour long and I never felt that kind of work out in my life. It felt great! He got me to work every muscle and made that one hour worth it. The next day I felt my muscles tightening. I was a little sore for a couple of days but it was the good kind of pain.

Ky has a great setup in his garage; he has a wide range of equipment that will work every part of your body. I’ve had many trainers in the past from different gyms and it just never felt right for me; I felt no motivation.

Since my first session, I’ve gone once a week. After a month or so I‘be seen some progress especially because I changed the way I ate and began intermittent fasting. With each session I learned something new that helped improve my work outs at home.

Having Ky as a trainer, I’ve noticed I am motivated to hike or go on a walk. I noticed my health getting better; my back isn’t hurting as much anymore and I did all that workout without doing much lifting. We did most of the workout with a 10 lb ball.

Overall I am very glad I met Ky this year and am looking forward to seeing my progress at the end of the year.

I having been training with KY for the last 5 years. Due to a shoulder injury from previous sports activity from when I was a teenager I had a torn rotator cuff. I'd been to everyone physical therapists, doctors, other personal trainers, but none of them could help me. My shoulder had gotten to the point where I was going to need surgery for it.

But then I met Ky who not only was very knowledgeable in the body, but understood how to push me in the right direction. By consistently working out with him, and doing his very creative training routines ( watch some of his videos) I didn't need shoulder surgery.

I trained under Key Fitness Hawaii for many years and still am. Key's coaching is different from other coaches I've been to. I like the quality of his training. I have competed and completed 13 Ironman triathlons, (swim 2.4 miles, bike 112 miles, run 26.2 miles) Key has helped me achieved my goals. With 2 Ironman Kona....Key has pushed me to the limit and I qualified for the Ironman World Championship through Key's strenghthening and coaching twice.
