KOMO Studio combines the benefits of HIIT + Pilates in one workout, on a single piece of equipment for an experience you won't find anywhere else on the island.

Founded in 2020, KOMO is a local, wahine-owned/operated small business in Hawaii and Oahu's first and best premiere Lagree Fitness Licensed Studio offering high-intensity, low-impact workouts on the Megaformer. KOMO is the only Official Lagree Fitness Master Trainer owned studio in the state.

Joy and the entire team create an atmosphere that’s both motivating and supportive, where it’s impossible not to feel encouraged.

The instructors are incredible,they’re not just coaches, they’re your personal cheerleaders, pushing you to do your best while making every session fun and energizing. The workouts themselves are challenging, dynamic, and leave you feeling stronger, fitter, and more confident every time.

If you’re looking for a place where the community is as amazing as the workouts, Komo Studio is it. I can’t recommend it enough!

KOMO is the best workout studio I’ve found on the windward side and reminds me of my former reformer pilates studio on the mainland. I love that the classes are 40 minutes-great for people with busy lives but still want to get a good work out in. Each instructor has a different vibe to them but I had my best class yet with Lucille who played a great playlist and had music blasting almost like an Orangetheory vibe-that being said there is an instructor for everyone and more chill vibes in other classes! Highly recommend KOMO.

As a devout weightlifter for a decade, I was looking for some variety in my workout routine. I figured I would try KOMO and I have to say I’ve been hooked since the first class. Not only are the classes challenging, the instructors are extremely motivating and the entire ambience of the class is just amazing. The owner, Joy, works hard to add variety to the classes, so the routines are never the same and you never get bored. I stated lagree about 1 year ago. The instructors and other members have continued to be very welcoming and friendly. Its a very challenging workout and has helped me lose weight and tone up. I'm not perfect but I just keep trying. I actually appreciate having to sign up and commit, down side is the late cancelation feel. I'm sure I have gone more often because of the penalty. LOL.

Chantelle Zelle was such an incredible instructor for my first PIHA Pilates reformer class! I was a total beginner, but she made me feel empowered & strong throughout. I feel like I gained so many skills in the short timeframe we were together, and her music playlist was on point! They have a great kama'āina BOGO offer so you can try 2 classes for the price of 1. It was perfect for me to test it out & decide if I wanted to get a membership. Although I could barely walk after class (iykyk) I'll definitely be back! I can feel the burn during & after class so l know my body is toning up, which is exactly what I want. I've been going to KOMO for the past year and it's such a great workout! I always leave with the muscle shakes no matter the class. You can always modify to make exercises harder or easier. Definitely recommend for anyone with knee problems or impact injuries. I have whiplash in my neck and previous hip flexor, weak knees, and I'm always able to push myself and not get hurt. Always looking forward to my next class :)

Two years later- and I still love KOMO. It has helped me become a stronger person mentally and physically. At one point the only consistent workout I was doing was KOMO lagree, and I got so many compliments on my muscle definition! I always love sharing this studio with friends from outta town and reaffirming how special it is. These workouts always leave me feeling like I'm challenging myself, encouraged, and seen.

It’s easy to get hooked on KOMO! As a lifelong runner, Crossfitter and weightlifter, KOMO is unlike anything I have tried before. The studio is a total vibe and is absolutely stunning and the instructors are so sweet but don’t let all of that fool you… this workout is TOUGH. Beautiful studio bright and spacious! Parking is fine on weekends but weekdays it was hectic and took a while to find parking. The first class Komo foundations I went to with the instructor with the dog, she was friendly and helpful with everyone in the class. The 2nd class I went to was the PIHA class with instructor Bianca who I felt wasn’t as good and was very clicky feeling and kept pointing out the same person over and over in class which was kind of awkward. She made me feel uncomfortable as a native Hawaiian I felt like I wasn’t welcomed in there which was disappointing. Good work out not sure if I would ever go back.

I tried KOMO last month for the buy one get one free class pass, and enjoyed my experience. I loved that they offer a BOGO as a chance to try out the studio. No one pushed me to buy a membership or anything. It was a really pleasant experience. I took two different classes yoga sculpt and PIHA total body. I was dying in the total body class, it was awesome! The Megaformer is such a fun machine to use during a workout a total challenge that left me shaking! Super cute, intimate, charming studio. Very clean, cozy atmosphere. The closest parking is metered, but otherwise very accessible. The instructors are incredibly knowledgeable about what they do and offer helpful adjustments throughout class. What an amazing upgrade from my regular Pilates routine. The class was challenging in all the right ways. If you are looking for a workout that is efficient and effective, in a clean and inspiring setting, then give KOMO a try! I've been doing these classes for about 2+ months and results are visible with no other major changes to my lifestyle or diet.

KOMO is a small group fitness studio in the heart of Kailua town offering Lagree method classes on a custom machine called a Megaformer. Lagree is a high intensity, low impact workout using slow, intentional movements. Classes are 40 minutes long, and engage your full body for core, upper, and lower body moves. KOMO instructors are all very welcoming, play high-energy music, and walk around the room to help you with your form. Grip socks are required, and can be rented for a nominal fee.

Arrive at least 10 minutes before class to get oriented, and consider watching a video beforehand to get a feel for the movements. Prepare to be sore (in a good way)! Also, plan your calendar in advance, because KOMO classes get booked quickly, and no-show/cancellation fees do apply. Check for their best local deal, which as of this review is buy 1 get 1 class free for first time locals.

Highly recommend KOMO! Upon arrival I was greeted by a warm instructor who helped me get up to speed with the new workout. The studio is immaculate and there are cubbies for you to stow items during class. The class was for anyone, as a first timer I got extra cues, but the instructor provided variations for the seasoned practitioners. The instructor was encouraging but challenged you to get the absolute most out of class. Best 40 minute workout; I got an immediate boost of energy and could feel muscles I didn’t know I had.

This is my favourite way to work out, and the new studio space is beautiful. I love the results, the energy, and the community of amazing and inspiring women. I tried the free trial two weeks ago, and immediately booked the two week trial membership. I'm on my seventh class in ten days, and I am already seeing incredible results! I'm eight months post-partum, and working with a knee that has seen three knee surgeries due to an ACL tear. I'm seeing amazing ab definition, and best of all, I have better ROM and less pain in my knee than I have in years. I am so glad I found KOMO! I have been been working out at the studio for the last couple months. The studio has a great vibe and the instructors are so welcoming. When you sign up for your 1st class they send you an email with all the detailed information you need. Make sure to arrive a little early to your 1st class so the instructor can give you a guide on how to use the machines. I really enjoy the workouts and it’s less than an hour of your day! There’s just so many good things to say about KOMO studio!! I’ve been coming since May 2021 and I won’t ever stop!! I used to think had to workout everyday for hours to be strong and toned. Totally wrong! I attend three 40 min classes a week and dude, I have tight abs, obliques, and thighs that don’t jiggle all over the place. Also KOMO workouts just make you a better physically active human in general. With a strong core, I’m ready to take on surfing, snowboarding, rock climbing any day! Plus KOMO is little to no impact so I feel like I’ll have my knees and joints forever.
The studio itself is so clean and welcoming. The instructors are so friendly and have their own teaching styles, but are all so amazing. Joy, the owner, is bomb!! She teaches classes as well and you get worked, in the best way possible, plus she’s super encouraging and motivates you to push yourself. Like she says, “How you do one thing is how you do everything.” I recommend newcomers do the one or two week trial so you can really feel the change in your body from several classes. You’ll be hooked!!

I took Mana strength with Joy for my first class and my abs got such a great workout that my ab muscles ached (in a good way) whenever I sneezed or got up from lying down for 2 days. I struggle with sit ups and ab work in general but somehow it’s easier to work out my abs in komo. I normally do barre and most times don’t really feel my abs, but after komo I took a barre class the next day and I could really feel which muscles were working during the curl. The teachers were very encouraging and motivating. It’s a very hard workout but they created a friendly and un-intimidating atmosphere. I couldn’t do a lot of the workout to the full extent but I still got a great workout anyway and didn’t feel like I shouldn’t be there bc I’m out of shape - we all have to start somewhere. The studio is clean and cheerful and so convenient for us (people who live on the Windward side). We’ve always been able to get a parking stall right in front. I also feel pretty safe bc there’s only 10 machines (so max 10 students) and pretty spaced apart. Also while at first it looks like its hard to book a class bc every class appears full and waitlisted; people do seem to cancel their reservation the day before so it’s been pretty easy to get into classes. Their app makes it easy to book classes and if you are like my husband and don’t want to install another app on your phone, its been pretty easy to book a class via their website too.

A friend of mine recommended KOMO to me and I’m glad I took her advice. My work requires my body to hold awkward positions for a period of time and I’d occasionally tweak my back. The workouts at KOMO strengthens my core regardless of what exercise movement we happen to be doing. I can feel the difference and feel more confident that my back can handle the strains of my work. Workouts are challenging and the instructors are encouraging. If I had more time, I’d take more classes! If you haven’t tried the KOMO and the Lagree Method you are truly missing out! I am an active woman in my mid 40s and try all types of activities from cycling to hiking to swimming to paddle boarding. When I tried the Lagree Method I was skeptical but in the past saw results from floor Pilates and wanted to get back into Pilates. This method is 100% effective working slow twitch muscles. Joy as well as the other instructors at KOMO are amazing, caring, and know how to kick your butt. The slower you do the exercise the more painful in a good way. If you haven’t tried it it is worth it and always challenging for any level.

As a Physical Therapist I have done a very wide variety of exercise throughout my life, but in a time where I was in a rut, and experiencing my own aches and pains, I stumbled upon KOMO. I have never enjoyed and had so much success with a workout as much as I have at KOMO. I used to dread working out and have tried and quit dozens of classes and gyms after a few weeks. I’m now going on five months at KOMO and absolutely loving it. The Lagree method is such an amazing combination of cardio, targeted full body strengthening and building flexibility. The slow, subtle movements are shockingly effective. In the last month or so my body feels hooked on Lagree and I feel a massive change in strength throughout my entire body (and it’s also starting to show physically). Movements I couldn’t do at all my first weeks, while still totally challenging, have become second nature. I recently switched to the unlimited membership and usually hit 4 or 5 classes a week. Hoping KOMO stays open given current Corona cases here now however will try out their new live online program in the event of another gym closure to keep up the amazing progress my body has made. Thank you Joy and the entire KOMO for the amazing workouts!
