Went for a quick few visits while on vacation. I like that you can get temporary memberships but it did seem a bit pricey. The gym has a lot of equipment but when I went it was pretty crowded with lots of gym bro vibes. I like that they provide towels. Overall was a decent experience.

24-hour access, personal trainer available, low-key vibes, many different gym equipment to use, and everything I need to get a complete workout. The only con is that it's a smaller gym, so it can seem pretty crowded when a handful of people are there. Other than that, it beats all the other larger gyms.

Great small gym that had everything I needed for quick hour long workouts on my vacation. Stayed for a week, this place has the best weekly rate around. I was typically alone in the gym when I arrived around 4-5am. Great owner and staff, highly recommend. Also took home some cool merch.

Such a great gym. Quick lift necessary equipment. Owner Leon was great. Had a great workout and looking forward to coming back. Although the equipment was a bit dated, it was useful and just what I needed on my vacation. Better than the hotel gym and great community.

I have been training there for years. The gym is cozy but has everything you need to get a great workout. Having 24-hour access is fantastic, especially for those who train during the early mornings and late nights.

We recently and had a great experience at this gym! The staff were super friendly and accommodating, even offering is a birthday discount since it was my boyfriend’s special day. The gym had all the essential equipment we needed for our workout, and the facilities were well-maintained and clean. I was also impressed that they provided (6:30am) services even during off-hours, making it convenient for us! We highly recommend this gym to anyone looking for a top-notch fitness experience in Maui!

Trained here during my vacation in Maui using a 1 week pass. It was conveniently located, clean and opened 24 hrs which was super important as I’m busy discovering Maui during the day. Staff were friendly. Equipment wise, they have everything you need to get a full workout. Lots of cardio machines and weights. Only thing missing is a squat/bench press cage. They do have a Smith machine.

What a gem this gym is. I checked out some of the other gyms in Kihei and was so happy when i found this place. First of all, it has everything that you need in terms of equipment. Everything is so well maintained and I never had to wait for anything. It is also spotless. It show real pride of ownership. The staff are so helpful and kind. I wish I had a gym like this back on the mainland

Mike, the owner, was amazing to work with during my set up for the gym. It was VERY refreshing that he is taking the health and safety of his members as a top priority, mandating employees have a Covid Vaccine AND mandating members wear a mask at all times. Please support businesses that keep the health and safety a top priority for members and employees (unlike other Kihei gyms sadly...and you know who those are!).

This is a great facility! The staff and owner are kind and helpful, and the other members are courteous and considerate. Everyone seems to be taking cleanliness and social distancing very seriously. There’s a wide range of machines and free weights and the place is open 24 hours. I was in from out of town and it was only $40 for a week of 24 hour access.

I’m an Active and Fit member, which is a great benefit provided by my employer. Had no problem at Maui Powerhouse Gym, other than the fact they don’t run the A/C in the evening, which hurts in the hotter months. The owner did his best to accommodate me but it was just too hot for me to do cardio there. So when it was time to renew, I searched for another gym, looking for A/C and accessibility. After looking at a few, South Maui Fitness seemed like a good option. Small, no frills and blissfully chilly with members given access to the air conditioners to adjust to our liking. There were red flags from the very beginning. We were informed Active and Fit members do not have 24-hour access unless we paid additional fees, price of which varied between the owner and the front desk staff. This is concerning because 12 am to 11:59 pm access is marketed to A&F members. It turns out A&F members are allowed gym access only during staffed hours, which is a few hours in the morning and a few hours early evening during the week, and only a few hours weekend mornings, making it difficult for working around job schedules. As of today, South Maui Fitness web site states 24-hour access is available to “all” members. I called and spoke with Annie, who informed me no, not ALL members, only full price paying customers.

Anyway, just prior to the gym closing due to COVID-19, we went to work out and noticed it was hot in the gym. Went to turn the A/C on but the remotes had been put away and the A/C panels covered.

I’ve notified Active and Fit and will file a complaint with the BBB. This feels to me like bait and switch.

Its small but nice when not busy. It has most of the basics you need to stay fit. I mean it doest have everything a 2 story gym would have but its only 40 for a week for guests and that's what I am at the moment. I appreciated it and used it 5 out of 7 days I was here. Thanks.

This is a great, local, no-frills gym, owned by a really nice man, you can meet him in the morning. He cleans the equipment, takes care of the gym himself, and meets gym visitors in a welcoming and friendly manner. A very hands-on owner, which is much appreciated.
Both Danielle (I think thats her name, friendly blond) and 2nd trainer are very welcoming, polite and accommodating. IF you are in town for a trip, weekly rates are affordable. Thanks for having me!

This place is fantastic when you are jet-lagged and want to work out at awkward hours - especially before sunrise. And really convenient to buy the temporary memberships as a visitor. I was walking in the early hours before sunrise every day from a resort a few miles away, and the whole area felt safe - no worries.

I was looking for a gym to get some quick weight workouts while i stayed a week in Kihei, which I think is the best part of the Island! I found that gym at South Maui Fitness. The owner Mia, is very nice and welcoming. The gym is very clean and you get a swipe card so you can go whenever you want, 24 hours a day. The gym is also reasonably priced. Unless your a big meathead who just wants to "pick things up and put them down" this is a really cool gym!

My husband and I were visiting Kihei for four weeks. We didn't want to completely give up our exercise routines so we started looking around for a gym. We needed something that didn't demand a long term membership commitment with cardio equipment for me and resistance training equipment for my husband.
Maui south fitness had everything we needed and more. The staff is helpful and friendly. You receive a fresh towel with every visit. It's squeaky clean and comfortable for every age and fitness level. It's unpretentious and open 24 hours a day. You can sign up for a certain number of sessions or just drop in. We found it very affordable too ($5.50 per session when you purchase a package of 10).
If you are a visitor in Kihei, I would highly recommend you check out this gym It's perfect for snowbirds.
